2006-07 Primetime Ratings

May 29, 2007 by

It’s no surprise that AMERICAN IDOL once again ruled the ratings, but where did your other favorite primetime shows rank in the war of the ratings?  Some of the results kind of through me for a loop.   The fact that some of this year’s most short lived shows had better ratings than some of my very favorite shows was a little disappointing.  When is someone going to give me a Nielsen box so I can make some changes.

Here are the Top Twenty primetime shows for the 2006-07 season.

My question is why is Studio 60 being canceled when it scored higher than the office? Not that I want the Office to be canceled!!!

This is insane?? Who are these Nielsen people? How is The Office 68th???? Is that too many questions??

Yeesh. Some people wouldn’t know good television if it danced on a table and yelled, “That’s what she said”

What happened to number 20? It goes from 19 to 21.

Now THIS is called laziness. I’m responding to this comment via my cell phone from my bedroom because I don’t want to get up and go to my desk to turn on my computer. I promised myself I would be in bed by 10:30pm and I am…but I’m still checking email. Yes I know that’s TMI and I know I have major issues.

Now to answer your question, if I remember correctly there was a tie for #19 so I think they skipped 20. Or I could be completely wrong..LOL

While #68 is respectable, it reminds that The Office is not too popular. Apparently, I live in a bubble that revolves around this show, but few others do.

Yeah, so the first show I watch that shows up on this list is number 17 (Lost). I just don’t agree with the masses for the most part.
I just can’t comprehend why Two and a Half Men is 47 places higher than The Office (with a couple other crappy CBS sitcoms in-between). At least Office, Scrubs, and HIMYM where all higher than According to Jim (but sadly not 30 Rock).
Oh, and a possible answer to why Studio 60 is being canceled is that, while not having completely abysmal ratings, it is quite expensive to produce, what with all the big stars involved. And I’m assuming the number of viewers is a mean average, so the audience size for Studio 60 probably started quite high and went downhill, and by now is not very good.

Instead of cancelling any show right away, why not give people a chance to get to know it and maybe switch its night and time? Cheers, Seinfeld, these were both rated close to last place their first seasons….American Legends of TV. How can studios not learn any lessons?
