GMMR Flashback: Doogie Howser, M.D.

September 13, 2007 by

Every once in a while it’s important to look back at our history and understand how the events of those who came before us affected life as we know it today. These events shaped who we are and we must pay them the proper respect they deserve. In order to properly honor our forefathers (or two fathers in the case of Nicole Bradford), GMMR will start to look back at those whose influence made us the people we are today.

Doogie Hower, M.D. – An important show of my youth. Watching this show I felt like I could tackle the world. I mean, if Doogie could be a doctor at 14 then there wasn’t anything I couldn’t do. The show had important place in TV history. Without it, the world would never know Barney Stinson, and I don’t even want to imagine a world without Barney Stinson. Suit up!! And do you think Joey Potter would really be climbing through Dawson Leery’s window if Vinnie Delpino didn’t do it first? I think not.

Bonus:
– Did anyone recognize Vinnie & Doogie’s co-worker? I’ll give you a hint…his show has been on the air longer than he has been alive.

– Raise your hand if you knew exactly who “Nicole Bradford” was without looking it up.

Come on, GMMR…if you’re going to throw out an 80s tv challenge, at least make it a challenge 🙂 Nicole Bradford…too easy. And I believe the co-worker is Lucas from DOUL (I don’t watch it, but I think that’s his name).

Yup, gotta raise my hand too! Loved Michael and Joey as Dads! Giovanni was her boyfriend too! Yes, the coworker is from DOOL. I need to stop watching so much TV!!

aww that was awesome! Thanks for posting the video! I haven’t seen an episode in such a long time. I used to watch Doogie every morning before school (he made me late quite a few times – whoops!).

My hand is raised too – I definitely remember watching that show and I remember Giovanni Ribissi as her boyfriend, too. Ah the memories – loved seeing Doogie again too. NPH looks really young (of course) and yet basically the same too! Whatever happened to that actor who played Vinnie?

Totally raising my hand! My Two Dads rocked. I think Chad Allen was on it as well.

    “You can count on me.”

I was just thinking about Doogie a couple hours ago since N.P.H popped up on an episode of Will and Grace I was watching.

Ah, just to hear that background music brought back such memories…Our beloved Doogie.

And Vinnie – one of the best side-kicks ever…
Didn’t he end up on the Soprano’s?

And your catch on Lucas from Days was impressive!

    Thanks.

Okay, so I didn’t catch the My Two Dads thing but I DID recognize Lucas!!!! 😀 DOOL was my faaaavorite soap when I was in college…and I watched it quite a bit before then, too.

Raising hand wildly. I loved My Two Dads. (Actually I think I just had a crush on Greg Evigan.) Thanks for the walk down Doogie lane.

Max Casella picked his top 10 Doogie’s from the first season, and you can see them (and the rest of the first season) for free on fancast.com/videos — plus read an interview that covers the show and more.
