SNL’s “Iran So Far” with Andy Samberg & Maroon 5
September 30, 2007 by Kath Skerry
Andy Samberg continues to show why he’s one of the best things about Saturday night when he premiered his new SNL Digital Short: “I Ran” – a love song dedicated to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (who else?). Now this isn’t going to compete with the Emmy Award winning “Dick in the Box” (and yes, I’m serious about the Emmy part), but it’s pretty funny stuff and has a few guest stars you just might recognize.

This was easily my favorite part of last night’s season premiere. I’ve watched it about five times since last night, haha, and it never gets old…Does anyone else think that Samberg looks really cute in this video?
omg, this digital short and the parody on high school musical 3 were the greatest! i love andy samberg!
I laughed out loud when I saw Jake Gyllenhaal pop up in the video. That was really funny! 🙂
I also loved the Solid Gold sketch-Lebron can move!

Thank you for posting this! I missed last nights episode and feared I missed a digital short. This song is going to be in my head all day!
Hilarious!
Andy Samberg is brilliant.
The digital short was the only part of SNL that I enjoyed. They really should feature more pieces like this, and move away from their typical boring sketches. The sketch with Will Forte hosting the BET show was painful to watch.
This is even better than “D*ck in a Box!” Loved, loved, loved it. And the funny thing is, the music is catchy! I’ve been singing it all day! Love the shot of the guy in the red dress on the piano–classic!
Hey, I loved that Will Forte BET skit!
This though, was tops.
This is awesome! Andy Samberg is probably on some Mahmoud hit list by now though.
Hi dere.
“I Ran” was much better than “Dick in a Box”. The music was better and Adam Levine is clearly a better singer than Timberlake. And you could tell he got the joke without ruining it.
And the placement of Jake Gyllenhaal’s flash cameo near the end was brilliant. His expression went well with the fact that he seemed to be tossed in at the end of the song as an afterthought despite being mentioned in lyrics earlier on. It was like he’d been sitting around the whole song waiting for the red light to come on.
the really funny thing is that is a good song
Hey A3k. You’re an idiot. Jake Gyllenhaal is in quite a few digital shorts and he wasn’t tossed in as an afterthought. Stop trying to sound so smart – you come off as a dumbass.
The music is catchy,
the beat is well constructed,
the lyrics… hahahahahahahaha
and the shots were very well planned,
the “iran so far” is so catchy, i have been singing the damn lyrics all day long… i am not even gay… am i sick?
i don’t quite get why jake scratch his beard with his hands and do a double Y sign in the end though… what’s that about?
and A3K, jake was all over the place, what afterthought are you talking about?
Jake wasn’t doing a double y sign but holding up the number 2…. right before that, andy sandberg said “one” and held up his index finger towards the camera
