100 QUESTIONS from NBC – First Look

May 4, 2009 by

My first impression based on the description? – “Slumdog Millionaire” meets “My Name is Earl”, you know…but different. Again, another comedy with a lot of buzz. This one didn’t quite grab me. I was very distracted by the forced laugh track. Who knows, could be the next (insert name of great NBC comedy here) James Burrows has done great things for NBC. Can he do it again?

Emmy winner James Burrows (”Will & Grace,” “Friends”) directs “100 Questions,” a new comedy series written and executive-produced by Christopher Moynihan (”For Your Consideration”) that provides hilarious answers to 100 questions about love. Charlotte Payne (Sophie Winkleman, “Peep Show”) is looking for love and has rejected multiple marriage proposals — but she has yet to meet Mr. Right. When she joins a popular online dating site, she gets a little help from her dating counselor Ravi (Amir Talai, “The Ex List”) – who requires her to take a 100-question compatibility test. The questions aren’t easy for Charlotte to answer, and each one requires her to recount a poignant and humorous time in her life with friends Leslie (Elizabeth Ho, “Women’s Murder Club”), Jill (Joy Suprano, NBC’s “Law & Order”), Mike (Christopher Moynihan “For Your Consideration”) and Wayne (David Walton “Quarterlife”). The test becomes a journey of self-discovery for Charlotte who begins to realize what she truly wants in a relationship. Ron West (”Psych”), Kelly Kulchak (”Psych”) and Michelle Nader (”King of Queens”) join Moynihan as executive producers. The series is produced by Universal Media Studios and Tagline.

Question? Why would they make a remake of Friends and not commit to Chuck?

    GMMR,

The first look really doesn’t matter. Who cares about any of these programs. Chuck isn’t there. Let’s get real. On NBC, maybe 30 rock and that’s about it.
6.3 MIL is a decent amount against the mysterious charm of the CBS and DWTS.

I don’t watch tv because its there. I watch it because it brings a bit of joy and thought to my day. Chuck does that. Not Parks and Recreation whatever. Only Lost reaches the mix that Chuck is achieving in its own way. That’s it Lost and Chuck. Come on NBC, I will give these shows a chance if Chuck comes back. Other than that its Lost.

    peace

This is the first three camera, live studio sitcom I’ve seen from NBC in years. I’m not so sure we need another “Friends”. Doesn’t that show stand alone? This one didn’t grab me as much. It pales in comparison to “Community”, but that could just be my own personal taste.
