Is Elisabeth Hasselbeck Out on The View - Give Me My Remote : Give Me My Remote

Is Elisabeth Hasselbeck Out on The View

April 8, 2006 by

Elizabeth HasselbeckKatie Couric’s departure from The Today Show has incited a case of musical chairs in the world of daytime TV.  Since Meredith Vieira annouced she is leaving The View to replace Couric, there has been a buzz about who is going to replace Vieira over at ABC.  Insiders have hinted that the front runner is former Everbody Loves Raymond star, Patricia Heaton.

So why is there such a buzz about Elisabeth Hasselbeck being outed from the show.  Well, sources are saying that Elisabeth has always represented two demos on The View – the Republican and the young, single woman.  If Patricia Heaton comes on board, they won’t be looking to Hasselbeck to represent the Republican viewpoint as Heaton has that territory well covered.  And since joining the show in 2003 as the young, single hipster, Hasselbeck has gotten herself married and pregnant.  Although she now represents a more important demographic – the young single mother with a sometimes absent husband (her husband in a pro football player), it looks like Elisabeth Hasselbeck may be on her way out.

The only name I have heard in the running to possibly replace Elisabeth is Marianela Pereyra, a Fuse TV veejay.  I think Babs is looking to bring a little young Latin flavor to the show.  Guess, we will have to wait and see.

But most importantly, why is no one talking about ousting Star Jones Reynolds.  If she leaves, I might actually watch that show again..ok, probably not, but still..I just don’t like Star.

That is horrible news! If they get rid of Elisabeth I’m never watching the View ever agian. I already can’t stand Star and will miss Merideth. Looks like they just ruined the View!

I don’t like Patricia Heaton at all and it’s not solely because of her politics. She just seems like a very uptight person, like at award shows, unless she knows that the camera is on her she seems to always have a sour expression. And the way she “outed” Michelle Pfiefer about getting plastic surgery it was just so Joan Rivers.

I haven’t been able to watch a full episode of the ever since Lisa Ling.

I think it is truely horrible that people might think – and I am not saying this was GMMR’s opinion, I think she was just reporting – that you can only have ONE person with a conservative/Republican viewpoint on an entertainment show. There are FIVE women on that show – so even if Elizabeth Hasselback AND Patricia Heaton were on the show, I am sure they would be in the minority still. Last I checked, there was a Republican president, a Republican-controlled Senate AND House, a conservative-leaning Supreme Court, and MOST states are led by a Republican Governor. So why should conservative views be dismissed as a “token”?

you make valid points but I think the republican voice voice is considered token not based on the counry’s political affiliation but rather the demographic of the view’s audience which does not skew republican at all

I can’t stand Viera. There’s no way in hell I’ll watch The Today show now……Heaton on The View? That would be very crazy. She is extremely right-winged and is known as one of the stronger Christians in Hollywood. I can see her doing it just so she can administer her political/religious beliefs, but I’m guessing most of the audience is liberal so I’m not sure how that would work out.

Actually, I think the odds are about right. One conservative versus 4 left wing screamers is even odds in my book.

I am so sorry to see you go, you were always the most peaceful and sweetest looking one on The View. I really didn’t know that you were an angry person till you got into that squabble w/ another host of the show. But of course, we’ve all got to get that frustration and anger out of us.

It’s alright to talk Politics On The View. Just put your heads up, and let it all hang out. You know what I mean?
But the reason why people don’t really favor this. Is because Politics and Religion, always end up with different points of views and arguements.
It’s not like talking about social affairs, with a good sense of humor.Know what I’m saying? For real, i think ya’ll should leave Politics out of it. And just stick to social affairs, before somebody ends up jumping out of the chair, and snatching or grabbing somebody by the front of their shirt, that wouldn’t be good.
Thats right, we are not accepting any excuses, for the end of The View,if that happens.Snatching and grabbing all on each other. And we don’t need for it to happen This a Girltalk Show. And I enjoy watching women talk.
