Uh Oh…Gilmore Girls Departures are False…For Now
April 12, 2006 by Kath Skerry
Michael Ausiello is having a rough morning. After first reporting this morning that Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino was leaving the show, Ausiello has since retracted his statement saying that the story was NOT supposed to go live on TVGuide.com, and it was written in the event that ASP didn’t renew her contract. I’m thinking Michael burned a few bridges this morning.
Here’s the statement from Michael’s personal site:
Due to a technical glitch, a story confirming Team Palladino’s exit from Gilmore Girls was accidentally pushed live on TVGuide.com this morning. It has since been taken down. It’s not true. That story was prepared in the event they did decide to quit, but it was not supposed to go up until I got confirmation. Needless to say, I was mortified to come in this morning and see it up there. The info in today’s Ask Ausiello is the most up-to-date. Again, I’m sorry.
I’m not sure I buy the “technical glitch” BS. I think Michael has the information correct, but he wasn’t supposed to release it until TPTB gave him the OK.
