Prison Break Recap (Contain Spoilers) 4/17/06
April 17, 2006 by Kath Skerry
When we last saw the kids over at Fox River, Michael and Sucre both ended up in solitary, along with Lincoln. Michael for not telling Pope how he burnt his back, and Sucre for getting caught outside the prison walls. While in solitary, Michael slammed his fist into the wall repeatedly in an attempt to convince Tancredi and Co that he had lost it. They bought it hook, line and sinker. Michael ended up in the Whack Shack (aka psych ward), which we came to find out, was exactly where he hoped to be. Since Michael couldn’t remember what the tatoo on his back looked like, he turned to the one person that might be able to….Haywire.
For you Prison Break newbies, Haywire was once Michael’s cellmate. He’s a little on the crazy side, but he is similar to Michael in the fact that he has spacial myopathy…ok, I have know idea what the hell that is, and I just made it up, but basically Haywire was able to look at Michael’s tats and see past the art work to the blueprints. He actually became a bit obsessed with Michael’s tatoos. Although this caused quite an issue for Michael while he was cellmates with Haywire, he’s counting on Haywire now to help figure out the missing blueprints.
There is just one little snag in Michael’s plan – Haywire doesn’t recognize him. All the meds are numbing his mind. That is, all the meds were numbing his mind. Michael forces Haywire to puke up the drugs. Slowly but surely he starts to come around. In a series of very homoerotic scenes, Michael gets Haywire to sketch out the missing part of his tatoo. Um, a special thanks to Fox for so many shirtless Wentworth Miller scenes tonight. This blogger is very appreciative.
Off his meds, Haywire is able to sketch out the missing blueprints with crazy accuracy (no pun intended), but he’s also able to remember that Michael was the one that got him thrown back into the Whack Shack, and he’s none to pleased. Before he will hand over the missing blueprint sketch to Michael, he insists that he be let in on the details of the escape. Michael tells him of his plans alright, but when Haywire decides to try to escape on his own, he soon finds out that the plans Michael shared weren’t necessarily the right ones.
With Sucre in solitary, and Michael in the Pysch ward, Bellick and another guard, named Geary, decide to auction off their sweet cell. They have a buyer at $200, but after the home inspection, the new owner demanded that the leaky toilet be taken care of first. The guard agrees that the toilet will be replaced ASAP and the deal is done.
Luckily for Michael and his merry men, T-Bag overhears the deal and decides to alert the Charles Westmoreland and C-Note of the issue. The guys can’t let the guard fix the toilet. Doing so would reveal, oh, just a major man made hole that leads out of the cell. C-Note must have used eBay while in Iraq because the boy jumps in at the last minute and offers double for the cell, essentially securing the new cell for himself. Not wanting to pay those crazy ATM charges, C-Note asks one of boys to round up all of his outstanding debts.
Yeah, that doesn’t go well either (what did you expect). Seems C-Note’s old crew don’t appreciate the time he’s been spending with T-Bag and the other white guys. Words are exchanged and C-Note is a little roughed up. Unable to find the financing, they boys think they are screwed. That is until T-Bag reveals that he is one hell of a card shark. T-Bag and C-Note are going to visit the wonder of it all…Foxwoods, well, not quite, but they are getting in on the kitchen card game at Fox River. It’s a high-stakes game and despite the tense moments, they walk away with the WSOP bracelet, oh and all the cash.
C-Note hands over his winnings to Geary in exchange for Michael’s cell. Once he has the cash in hand, the guard tells C-note that the prices just went up to $700. C-Note convinces a reluctant Charles to hand over his coveted watch. And wouldn’t you know it, the minute he hands it off to the guard, the guard tells him that the cell has already been rented. Don’t think for one minute that he gave back the cash or the watch. Now that ain’t right.
In posession of Haywire’s sketches, Michael is now one step closer to getting the escape plan back on track. He sends word to Sucre about his progress through Sucre’s cousin (the guy that stole the guard’s uniform). After relaying the message, Sucre’s cousin says he won’t help anymore unless he knows what’s going on. Lincoln pipes in from the next cell and tells the guy the whole plan – on the condition that he help get Michael out of the psych ward. The Merrymen (sans Michael, Linc and Surcre) and their newbie, start cooking up a plan.
The kid with the suckiest life ever, Lincoln Jr., is in prison for attempting to murder Kravecki, and killing his mother and his step-father. LJ is being framed for the two murders…those Burrows guys just don’t have much luck when it comes to being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Tough break. Veronica pulls some strings and Lincoln is granted a one hour visit with LJ. Now this part is kind of hard to buy. Fine, they get the visit approved, but I’m not sure I buy the transportation arrangements. Lincoln, a convicted murdered on death row, is the one who leaves his prison to visit his son in a less secure jail?! Seems a little suspect to me. But I love this show so much, I’ll let it slide.
Meanwhile, it the boring and pointless part of the show, Nick and Veroncia are still working on the plan to get Lincoln and now Lincoln Jr. out of their respective prisons. But it seems that Nick is up to something. While in Verizon he in confronted by an associate who warns Nick not stray from their plan. This plan somehow involves Nick watching Veronica 24/7. Oh, c’mon, Is Nick a bad guy? That would suck. Can you hear me now?
Tonight we also learn that the VP may have more than one agenda. One she shares with her power-crazy bitch of a “political advisor” and the other that Kravecki seems to be in on. The political advisor chick clearly hasn’t fallen for Kravecki’s charm, and she’s none to please that he is found his way into the spotlight, as the main witness against LJ in the upcoming Those two seem to be butting heads a lot these days, I think they need some counseling.
Meanwhile, Sara comes for a littel conjugal visit and tries to get Michael to tell Pope about the burn so he can leave the Whack Shack and not end up back in solitary. Tough one. But now that Sucre’s cousin can serve as a messenger between Michael and his merry men, things get a bit easier. Michael fibs a bit and tells Pope that it was Geary that burned his back. Scofield tells the warden that Geary shakes down the cellmates for cash, and since Michael went to college, Geary assumed he had some.
Over in the guard’s breakroom, it’s time for Pope to do a little shakedown of his own. In Geary’s locker, Pope finds C-Note’s money and Charles’ watch, along with a burnt shirt – which Sucre’s cousin and Charles managed to plant there. Damn I love this show. Adios Geary…you jackass!
Lincoln and a few guards leave Fox River and head to LJ’s prison. Lincoln promises to be on his best behavior and not give the guards any trouble. Guess the same can’t be said for the Mack truck that plows into the side of Linc’s van. Uh Oh.
Scenes…
After the car accident leaves the guards incapacitated, Lincoln runs, but he’s being hunted. Too bad for Lincoln that it’s Kravecki that catches up with him before the Fox River guys. Kravecki is about to off Lincoln, but is stopped when someone yells “don’t shoot”. Hmmm…could this be Papa Burrows? Maybe. Abruzi is back and none to pleased with T-Bag or trying to off him. Oh, and Michael and Sara make out. Yay!!! Soooo looking forward to that action. This was another freakin’ fantastic episode. A solid “A” from me.

I am so happy you posted this. I tried to record the show because I had to work and the tape just turned off after like the first 5 mins. I was so mad! But now, thanks to you I know what happened…YAY!!
I think the VP granted the release of Lincoln to go see LJ, and then perfectly timed the truck crashing… remember how Pop was just like “this never happens” when telling Lincoln his request had been honored? And also the VP said they would circumvent the company’s agenda.
When Nick was first introduced, I didn’t trust him. All the way til he got shot in the back by Quinn. But now, turns out my first instincts may be right?!
WHAT…
They kissed.
I missed that – I knew I should have stopped flipping channels.
