Katie Holmes has a Baby Girl

April 18, 2006 by

According to published reports, Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise welcomed a daughter into the world this afternoon.  The little girl’s name is supposedly “Suri” which means “I love Pacey Witter“…nah, it actually means “princess” in Hebrew, and “red rose” in Persian.

The couple “joyously welcomed the arrival of a baby girl, Suri, today,” the actor’s rep said. “The child weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces and was 20 inches in length. Both mother and daughter are doing well.”

Congrats to Katie and Tom.  And best of luck to you little Suri.  Your Dad is a little cucko and your mom has clearly lost it, so you’re going to need all the luck you can get.

How weird is it that Joey Potter and Jen Lindley both have little baby girls.  Josh Jackson and I aren’t far behind…but we are hoping for a boy.

Gilmore Girls, Chris Daughtry, Scrubs and Mars…all on the agenda

Comments Off on Gilmore Girls, Chris Daughtry, Scrubs and Mars…all on the agenda

Sorry for the lack of posts over the past few days. For those of you who celebrate Easter, I hope you had a nice holiday.  And for those of you who don’t, well I hope your weekend kicked a little ass.  I had a great time with the fam.  Missed my sister and brother-in-law, and of course my nieces, Emma & Lila, but it was a nice time all the same.

Yesterday was Patriot’s Day in Massachusettes.  Patriot’s Day is always one of my favorite days of the year.  In addition to an 11am Red Sox game, there’s a little race called The Boston Marathon. It’s a great day to be in Boston because there’s such a crowd. (oh and because my Sox won)!  My day started off with the Capt and Coke at 10am, and I didn’t look back.  I thought about posting last night, but my better judgement took over.

The next few days are a little crazy for me, so I will post when I can. Meanwhile, I want to take a minute to thank all of the Give Me My Remote sponsors.  Let’s give them around of applause.  Make sure you check them out while you are reading…there are some really great deals out there.

Also, I’ve had a HUGE response to the new merchandise added to the Give Me My Remote Online Store.  An almost record sales day.  A special thanks goes out to Nikki for helping to design the Flonkerton shirt.  If you have any ideas that you think would make a great t-shirt, mug, etc please let me know.

What I’m watching tonight….

American Idol: After two weeks of TiVo issues, I’m so excited to watch American Idol tonight.  I read something earlier today (although I can’t remember where), that talked about the lack of “magic” Idol moments so far this season.  So true.  Every season has had a few “magic moments”.  Kelly Clarkson’s version of “Respect”, Clay singing “Bridge Over Troubled Water”, Fantasia and “Summertime”, and Bo Bice rockin’ out “In a Dream”.  I’m waiting for this seaon’s magic moment.  I’m hoping it’s going to come from Chris Daughtry, but I’ll take it from anyone at this point in time.  My money is on McPheever to pull it out….just hope it happens soon.

Veronica Mars – Well, no duh?!  If I have to tell you people that I will be watching Veronica Mars tonight, then you just don’t know me now do you?  Ha ha

Gilmore Girls – Zach and Lane’s wedding is approaching fast.  Um, didn’t they just get engaged like yesterday?  Dude, if I was Lorelai I would be pissed.  Then again, maybe Lorelai isn’t in that much of a rush to marry Luke after all. Hmmm…

Scrubs – I can’t say for sure that I will be watching Scrubs tonight, but I will definitely be taping it.  I have a huge meeting in the morning and I have to catch up on some much needed sleep.  I will try my best to catch it tonight though…it needs all the ratings help it can get.

Watch Veronica Mars Tonight

Why should you watch Veronica Mars tonight?  Because I said so.  Hey it worked for my parents, so I had to give it a try.

Hopefully you checked out Veronica and the rest of the Neptunities last week during its new time slot of Tuesdays @ 9pm (est) on UPN.  Last week’s show had so much going on, and it really helped to move the mysteries along.  I am really looking forward to getting a few more clues tonight.  And if those clues come via a shirtless Dick Casablancas or Logan Echolls then so be it.

Thanks for all the emails about your theories about Felix and the bus crash.  I love hearing them all.  But I’d really love for you to share your thoughts in the GMMR forums.  This way we can all discuss who’s really behind all the drama *cough* The Goot *cough*.

Prison Break Recap (Contain Spoilers) 4/17/06

Prison BreakWhen we last saw the kids over at Fox River, Michael and Sucre both ended up in solitary, along with Lincoln. Michael for not telling Pope how he burnt his back, and Sucre for getting caught outside the prison walls.  While in solitary, Michael slammed his fist into the wall repeatedly in an attempt to convince Tancredi and Co that he had lost it.  They bought it hook, line and sinker.  Michael ended up in the Whack Shack (aka psych ward), which we came to find out, was exactly where he hoped to be.  Since Michael couldn’t remember what the tatoo on his back looked like, he turned to the one person that might be able to….Haywire.

For you Prison Break newbies, Haywire was once Michael’s cellmate.  He’s a little on the crazy side, but he is similar to Michael in the fact that he has spacial myopathy…ok, I have know idea what the hell that is, and I just made it up, but basically Haywire was able to look at Michael’s tats and see past the art work to the blueprints. He actually became a bit obsessed with Michael’s tatoos. Although this caused quite an issue for Michael while he was cellmates with Haywire, he’s counting on Haywire now to help figure out the missing blueprints.

There is just one little snag in Michael’s plan – Haywire doesn’t recognize him.  All the meds are numbing his mind.  That is, all the meds were numbing his mind.  Michael forces Haywire to puke up the drugs.  Slowly but surely he starts to come around. In a series of very homoerotic scenes, Michael gets Haywire to sketch out the missing part of his tatoo.  Um, a special thanks to Fox for so many shirtless Wentworth Miller scenes tonight.  This blogger is very appreciative.

Off his meds, Haywire is able to sketch out the missing blueprints with crazy accuracy (no pun intended), but he’s also able to remember that Michael  was the one that got him thrown back into the Whack Shack, and he’s none to pleased.  Before he will hand over the missing blueprint sketch to Michael, he insists that he be let in on the details of the escape.  Michael tells him of his plans alright, but when Haywire decides to try to escape on his own, he soon finds out that the plans Michael shared weren’t necessarily the right ones.

Adam Brody Appreciation Day

April 14, 2006 by
Filed under Adam Brody, The OC, TV Boyfriends

I’ll be the first to admit that The OC has fallen from its once very high ivory tower.  The storylines have become a bit cliched and the show has seemed to lost a bit of the voice and identity that made it a standout hit in Season1.  The OC has become so uneven that you never know what you are going to get on any given Thursday.  But one thing has remained unchange…Adam Brody is brilliant.

Adam’s adorkable Seth Cohen is the only reason The OC is still on the air, and the only reason it’s still on my TiVo Season Pass.  I don’t mean to take anything away from the other actors.  Actually, I think The OC has a rather strong cast (with exception of Misha Barton of course), but it’s always been Adam Brody that has pulled everything together.  Lately Adam has been working overtime and this show is becoming watchable again.  Hell I’ve actually been enjoying it.

The writers have realized that Seth Cohen can do more than whine and rant about all things pop culture and hip, and they are letting him grow up a little. Seth has not lost any of his wittiness, but he just doesn’t rely on it as much anymore.  Seth has his family, Ryan, and of course Summer, so the snappy one-liners just don’t serve the same purpose.  Seth is getting more and comfortable with who he is, and in turn we the viewers get to see Adam Brody at his best.

I know this is kind of a pointless rant, or rather, rave about Adam Brody, but I just got finished watching The OC, and I just felt compelled to write something about him.  I really thoughtlast night’s episode showcased what a great actor Adam is.  Seth was funny and witty (as always), but dealing with the whole Summer break-up, he really showed his vulnerable side.  For the first time in a long time, I’m actually excited about next week’s episode of The OC. ( SPOILER ALERT…the return of Anna & Theresa…uh…oh)

Oh, and since I was on such an Adam Brody high after The OC, you can just imagine how psyched I was to see him show up as Keith, Russ’s gay son, on The Loop.  I remember Bret Harrison spoke of his best bud’s guest appearance, but I guess I didn’t realize that ep was going to be on last night.  It was great to see Adam getting a little way from the Seth Cohen stereotype.

Anway, that’s all I wanted to say.  I’m loving Adam Brody and I just wanted to share it with someone.  Good thing I have a blog!!!

Big Brother: All Star Edition

April 13, 2006 by
Filed under Big Brother, Reality TV

When Big Brother returns to CBS this summer viewers will see a few familiar faces in the house.  CBS has announced that the upcoming season will be the first ever All Star edition of Big Brother.  And the really cool part?  You will help to determine who will be living in the house.

According to Variety, CBS execs are planning to have the audience vote on who from the past Big Brother casts they would most like to see back in the Big Brother house.  Although all the details have yet to be worked out, it looks like CBS will choose about 20 people from the past seasons and then have the audience help widdle the list down to the 12 or 14 that will move into the house.  Don’t expect the audience to have the complete say.  CBS is planning on choosing at least a few of the cast members themselves.  Something tells me that CBS might just go with the most controversial peeps from the past few years.

Keeping with the interactive theme, producers say that viewers will have a greater impact on the show this year.  In addition to choosing who gets booted from the house week-to-week, the audience will also have a say as to who wins the $500,000 grand prize.

No word yet on when voting will begin, or even when the next season will start.  Based on previous years, folks are anticipating that Big Brother will launch sometime around the 4th of July.

Are you a fan of Big BrotherClick here and let us know who would you like to see come back in the All Star Edition?

Rescue Me Q&A with Denis Leary

April 13, 2006 by
Filed under GMMR Exclusives, Rescue Me, TV Drama

Give Me My Remote has a little somthing for fans of the FX drama Rescue Me.  Last night I was lucky enough to partake in a chat with the star of Rescue MeDenis Leary. In the Q&A below, Denis talks about what we can expect to see in Season 3, how his fellow firefighters are changing this year, and what Denis is up to while not working on Rescue Me

A special thanks to my friends at Scooter McGavin’s 9th Green, TubeTalk, and Random Acts of Television for helping me to get this transcript pulled together.

WARNING: This Q&A contains SPOILERS!!!

Q: What surprises do you have ahead for the new season of Rescue Me?
Denis Leary: There is a shocker at the end of the first episode. There’s also a shocker at the end of the third and fourth episodes but I am not at liberty to spill the beans

Q: Anybody get offed?
DL: No one gets offed but a few characters may wish that they were getting offed

Q: Tell us how you juggle the two roles of writer and actor
DL: I spend most of my free time writing/discussing ideas and scenes with Peter Tolan and then frantically memorize my lines for the next day’s scenes and then go to bed

Q: You write that close to deadline? Yikes
DL: Yeah, we write and rewrite even the morning of shooting scenes

Q: How would you say Tommy is different now from where he was in the first episode? Or is he really the same?
DL: He’s not drinking, he’s about to learn how to handle his kids in an unselfish way for the first time.  Susan Sarandon’s character teaches Tommy and Franco a life lesson that they had never thought of before and that helps them to approach their kids with fresh angles

Q: When is Rescue Me coming back?  I’ve heard May 30th?
DL:  May 30th and the second season DVD comes out May 9th.  THe soundtrack comes out the third week in May.

Q: Will Susan be a romantic interest for Tommy?
DL: No, Susan will be a romantic interest for Franco.  She plays a very sexy, wealthy older woman who really turns Franco’s head.

Q: It doesn’t take much to turn Franco’s head, if I recall.
DL: No, but this is the first time that an older woman, as opposed to a young model, has done that. I should probably also mention that Marissa Tomei is on the show this year playing my brother Johnny’s ex-wife. Tommy’s romantic interests this year include Marissa.

Q: You’ve channeled a lot of Denis into Tommy. How much are you guys really the same guy?
DL: Very, very litte actually.  Tommy is a combination of two of my best friends who are firefighters here in New York. One knows that I am playing part of him and the other guy loves the show but has absolutely no idea

Q: If you get Emmy nominated again for writing, what episode would you like that to be for?
DL: Peter and I submitted the last two episdoes from last year.  I would love to see other members of the cast get nominated as well.

Q: If you get nominated for acting, what episode would you submit to judges? Episode 12? Episode 13?
DL: We did submit both of those episodes for writing and acting as well

Q: What reaction do you get from firemen/woman regarding the show? Has anyone expressed negative views on your portrayal of the department?
DL: Some of the older members of the FDNY found it difficult to watch during the first season but a good friend of mine, TImmy Higgins, who was a member of the FDNY and died on 9/11, his brother Bobby and his brother Joey and his father are all firefighters.  HIs father has put in 40 some odd years fighting fires in New York city and he loves the show.  So, he’s my touchstone.

American Idol Says Bye Bye to Bucky Covington

Comments Off on American Idol Says Bye Bye to Bucky Covington

Country boy Bucky Covington was the taken out of the running to be America’s Next Top Model, or was that American Idol? Either way, Bucky is going home…empty handed. I must say, Bucky has really grown on me the past few weeks, and I don’t think he was the worst last night. Personally I think that it’s about time that we send pretty boy Ace home. Yeah, he has nice hair, but are you really going to go out and buy an Ace Young CD?

At this point in the competition, I think that’s how you need to start thinking. When this is all said and done, whose album would you spend your hard earned cash on? I know I sound like a broken record, but my money is still on Chris Daughtry and Taylor Hicks. I think Katharine McPhee and Elliott Yemin have the best voices in the competition, but they just don’t draw me in the way Chris and Taylor do.

We have a full week to wait until the next Idol. So for now, bye bye Bucky Covington – may you find your self happy in your travels.

The View’s Elisabeth Hasselbeck is Being Stalked?

Comments Off on The View’s Elisabeth Hasselbeck is Being Stalked?

According to reports, The View co-host, Elisabeth Hasselbeck is being stalked by someone whose favorite pastime is calling in false allegations of poor parenting on behalf of Elisabeth Hasselbeck and her husband, Tim.

The New York Daily News is reporting that an unknown woman “with a Southern twang” and claiming to be “a friend of the family” has phoned various agencies to make false and “creepy” allegations involving the Hasselbecks and their one-year-old daughter, Grace Elisabeth.

“In recent weeks, Elisabeth and her husband, Tim, have been stalked and harassed by an individual or individuals who seem to want to do them harm,” said Barbara Walters on Wednesday’s show.

Walters went on to read a statement on behalf of the Hasselbeck family, which was kind of odd since Elisabeth was sitting right next to her:

“This is a malicious attempt to harass our family. These allegations have been fully reviewed by child protective authorities and medical professionals and found to be absolutely false. This matter has been turned over to the district attorney’s office for prosecution of the individual(s) responsible for the false accusation.”

This sucks because I’m sure Elisabeth & Tim are no Britney & Kevin.  But on the other hand, I’m sure Babs is thrilled.  No one has talked about The View this much since it first premiered.

Missing The Office & John Krasinski…and a BJ Novak Update

The Cast of The OfficeI haven’t yet succumb to the shaking and naseua, but I definitely am going through withdrawl from The Office.  I’m not sure I can wait until April 27th for the new episode.  Lord only knows how I am going to get through the summer.  The Office webisodes are going to be great, but c’mon, it’s just not going to be the same.  How’s a girl supposed to go months without her J. Kras fix?  It’s just not fair.

I just found a description for the 4/27 episode entitled “Drug Testing”. (Spoiler Alert)

Dwight Schrute When half a joint is found on company property, Dwight dons his Lackawanna County volunteer deputy sheriff’s uniform (complete with badge) and launches an investigation. He brings in a professional drug tester—a turn of events that makes Michael nervous. Meanwhile, Jim and Pam play a game in which Jim is forbidden to speak.

Any episode where Dwight prances around in his Deputy Sheriff uniform has got to be good. But then again, I’m not so sure about any ep that requires John Krasinski to be quiet.  That’s not right.

BJ NovakI know I promised a Q&A with BJ Novak some time ago, but the boy is busy!  Good news though.  I heard from BJ yesterday, and we are going to have a short Q&A up before the next new episode.

Oh, and for you Office-ianados who like spoilers, click here for an Office spoiler that could be happening before the end of the season.  (I say could because you can never be too sure).

(Thanks to Jenna Fischer for the pic of Dwight.)
