TV Guide’s Dream Emmy Ballot
May 25, 2006 by Kath Skerry

The folks lucky enough to work at TVGuide.com have just released their annual “Dream Emmy Ballot”. So what would the Emmy nominations look like if the decisions weren’t left up to the geezer’s at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences? Let’s take a look.
Leave a comment and let me know where TVGuide.com got it right, and wrong. By the way, The Office was left off the list for best comedy. Are you kidding me? I almost dismissed all of these nominations based on that oversight alone, but they did get a few of the acting categories right. For commentary on the various nominations, click here to visit TVGuide.com. My faves are in bold.
Our Dream Emmy Ballot
This could be the year the Emmys finally get it right. For the first time ever, a blue-ribbon panel will play a key role in determining who gets nominated in the major categories. The goal? To even the playing field between stalwarts like The West Wing and Will & Grace and smaller shows like Battlestar Galactica and Gilmore Girls. While we at TV Guide applaud such an approach, we can’t leave anything to chance. That’s why for the fifth year running, we present you with who we think should be recognized when nominations are announced on July 6. So when your ballots begin to arrive in the mail next week, keep this issue handy and feel free to copy off of us. We won’t tell.Best Comedy

John Krasinski: Antidote to a Bad Day
May 24, 2006 by Kath Skerry
Filed under Jim Halpert, John Krasinski, The Office
About an hour ago I received this email from Jennifer, a GMMR reader:
Hey GMMR –
My day kind of sucks, and I was hoping you might be the one person that could cheer me up. Do you have any good news about John Krasinski you could share? I am already missing Jim Halpert and The Office?A loyal GMMR-er,
Jennifer
Well Jennifer, I can’t say I have any news on J. Kras. From what I hear he’s busy filiming “License to Wed” in California. But, maybe a few pics of the boy will cheer you up? It always works for me.
The first pic goes out to GMMR superstar Sarcasmo who told us all about this new, adorable pic of John. From what I hear, it can also be found in the latest TV Guide Magazine, so you’ll have to check it out.
Everwood/Gilmore Girls Crossover

So Bright and Hannah may not be heading to Stars Hollow for a romantic weekend, but there is news of an important Everwood-ian heading to visit Lorelai and Rory. Rina Mimoun, the executive producer of Everwood, has joined Gilmore Girls as a consultant. This can only mean good things for the GG’s, as Rina oversees one of the best written dramas on TV today.
Per usual, Michael Ausiello of TVGuide.com has the scoop. God, I want his job.
If you were looking for a silver lining in Everwood‘s tragic and untimely cancellation, here it is: Sources confirm that executive producer Rina Mimoun has joined Gilmore Girls as a consultant. I don’t know about you, but I consider this a huge coup for Gilmore. Not only will Rina bring her considerable show-running talents to Stars Hollow, but she has an unparalleled aptitude for nuanced characterizations and — more importantly — satisfying story arcs. If I were new Gilmore boss man Dave Rosenthal, I’d be breathing a huge sigh of relief.

I’m not sure I can say that I find anything remotely adorable about Dwight Schrute. Adorable is just not a term that fits Dwight. However, I find Rainn Wilson completely adorable. There is just something so cute about him, and it’s apparent in this pic of Rainn and my friend Kerry. As I mentioned yesterday, Kerry was lucky enough to meet Rainn while in Vancouver this week. Lucky girl!!!

Just thought I would pass along some TV news from around the web.
Jennifer Garner & Ben Affleck are in Boston for the summer. Ben is directing his first film, “Gone, Baby, Gone“, a movie based on the book by Boston’s own Dennis Lehane. Lehane also wrote “Mystic River”. I’m hoping to bump into Sydney Bristow while they are in town. But for now, check out these pics of the Affleck family looking lik everyday normal people, except of course for the ‘razi following them around constantly. Oh, and the pics aren’t labeled, but Ben, Jen & Violet are leaving “Henrietta’s Table”, a fabulous restaurant at The Charles Hotel. [Bricks & Stones]
Idol fans….do you remember Rhonetta Johnson, the crazy chick from the American Idol auditions who claimed that she was going to be bigger than Paula Abdul someday? Well, if you don’t remember exactly who I’m talking about, click here to watch a video of her audition, and relive the horror. The gorgeous girls of Glitterati Gossip and Idol Chatter recently scored an interview with Rhonette, and it’ damn funny. I’m pretty sure Rhonetta and Paula have the same dealer. [Glitterati Gossip]
With tonight’s second season finale of Lost just hours away, Scooter McGavin breaks down the odds as he tries to figure out, “Who is Him?”, Uh, Scooter, I think the proper grammer is who is he? Jeez, bloggers these days..lol [Scooter McGavin’s 9th Green]
Michelle Rodriguez can’t seem to keep herself out of a jail cell. Listen, you’re a bad ass….we get it. Enjoy your latest prison stay Ana-Lucia. Oh and I hated you on Lost (GMMR runs away before getting bitch slapped) [DuckyxDale]
One of my favorite people on this planet, Kathy Griffin, has some career advice for Clay Aiken. [Pop Culture Junkies]
I love Dlisted’s Michael K. Ok, that’s it, that’s all I wanted to say. Bye. Ha, well yes I do love Dlisted, but I also love the pics of the former American Idol contestants posted on the site. Daughtry! Daughtry! Daughtry! [Dlisted]
Mischa Barton is the new Anna Nicole Smith. [Egotastic]
Ok, this one isn’t TV related, and it’s a tad offensive, but too funny not to pass along. I’m sure at least some of you have heard all the rumblings about Brandon “waste of life” Davis’s drunken tirade against Linsday Lohan recently. If you haven’t seen it, it’s awesome. He’s such an ass. The videos of Brandon have been take from you tube (Boo). Anyway, Brandon repeatedly referreed to Lindsay’s “firecrotch”. Well, you don’t get to insult someone’s nether regions without some kind of response. So head over to BWE and watch/hear what Lindsay’s firecrotch has to say about Brandon Davis. [Best Week Ever]
American Idol Final Performance Recap
May 23, 2006 by Kath Skerry
Filed under American Idol, American Idol Recap, TV News
So as I said before, I was an idiot and somehow managed to convince myself that we would find out tonight was was winning American Idol. You would think someone that runs a freakin’ TV blog might be up to speed on the most popoular show on TV. But tonight is all about the finale performances and YOUR VOTE!!!
In case you missed it, I took some notes during the show and I thought I would pass them along.
But first up, our first Chris Daughtry appearance. Damn, he looks good, even if he is holding his wife’s hand. Hold it tight woman, because who knows how long that boy is going to be sticking around.
Katharine McPhee starts the show off with an old favorite, and my new favorite song, “Blackhorse and a Cherrytree”. I’ve fallen in love with this song since Kat’s first performance. She’s off to a decent start, and I’m so glad that she’s not writhing around on the floor this time (although I know some who wouldn’t mind seeing that at all). I think her performance of this song was better the first time around. She was more sexy and sultry (again I am just talking about her voice) last time. Randy disagrees and thinks tonight’s rendition was better. She didn’t blow away the judges like she should be at this stage. Both Paula and Simon were complimentary but definitely not overwhelmed.
Taylor and Katharine both better step it up tonight.
If you want to vote for Katharine, here are her numbers:
1-866-IDOLS-01
1-866-IDOLS-03
1-866-IDOLS-05
Taylor Hicks is back with “Living in the City”, a perfect song choice for him. Aw, all the old Idols are back, and they love Tay Tay. I’m not sure about choice of jackets. The bright purple. velvet jacket seems a little off, but seriously we don’t love Taylor his clothes now do we? God, this guy is a blast to watch. He rocks the sh*t out of this song. And the judges seem to agree. Paula is definitely on crack, but she’s kind of coherent and fun, so it’s all good. Simon hated his jacket but loved his performance.
According to my assessment, Round 1 goes to Taylor Hicks (Simon agrees with me, per usual).
If you want to vote for Taylor, here are his numbers:
1-866-IDOLS-02
1-866-IDOLS-04
1-866-IDOLS-06
On to Round 2….
Kat’s back with her “moment” song, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”, and damn, the girl is on the ground again. I personally think she could have changed it up a bit, and yes, I know sound very Taylor biased, but I do feel like I am being honest. OH, come on…that same “heard” word I hated last time, I hated again, watch your annuciation and vowels girl. Again, her first performance of this song was better, but she still rocked it out. Maybe I didn’t get chills (or cry like Papa McPhee), but it was still fabulous. The judges agree, and I think Simon said this was her best performance, but he may have been talking about her first performance of this song. I don’t know…Paula just gave me a sip of her drink, and I’m feeling a bit funny in my head,
Taylor’s back with “Levon” by Elton John. I think I’m going with Taylor’s first performance of this song, althought he’s doing a great job. I remember the first go at it having a bit more of Taylor’s signature energy. Randy dug it dawg, but thought it was a little pitchy (someone buy this man a freakin’ thesaurus already…for the love of Pete)! But wait…this performance garners the best comment from Paula this whole seasons. Ready?
“What may be pitchy to you is the essence of who Taylor is.”
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha! She is such a god damn idiot. Someone get her to the meth lab…STAT!!! God, I didn’t even finish writing this and Simon already told Paula that she isnt’ making any sense. Classic Idol right there.
Round 2 goes to Katharine McPhee
Let’s take a quick break to talk about the celebs in the Idol audience tonight. As I mentioned, Daughtry is back in full effect. But so are the other Idols. I’m sure at the very least the Top 10 were there, as they are in town practicing for some cheesy performances that we will be forced to watch tomorrow night. I got a glimpse of Paris Bennett, Elliott Yamin, Melissa, ummm, Melissa…yeah, I don’t remember her name but she’s really not that important anyway, Ace Young (or was this his brother?) and Kellie Pickler. Dude, Kellie’s new haircut is a hair don’t. I know someone famous cut it for a segment on Regis and Kelly, but it looks awful.
Other celebrity sightings include…
Mandy Moore, who is currently shooting License to Wed with John Krasinski. And yes, the moment I saw her my eyes scanned the crowd for J. Kras. Something tells me this isn’t his cup of tea.
Ben Stiller was shown towards the top of the show. He was ooking like he would rather die than be seen at the American Idol finale, cowering behind people and everything. Awesome.
Christina Applegate was there. Is she on a new Fox show or something? Maybe she’s just a fan of Idol. Kind of random though.
Taye Diggs….wow, Daughtry might not be the hottest guy in the house afterall. My Taye was in the audience and looking fine as usual. I wouldn’t mind if he got on stage and sang a little something tonight.
Fresh from her honeymoon, Tori Spelling was in attendence this evening. Don’t you think that the 90210-ers (minus Shannen) can get anything they want from the Fox execs? Seriously, 90210 is the only reason Fox exists today. Oh, and did you hear the rumors that Tori is already preggers. Things move a lot quicker during the 2nd marriage.
All right, we are back with the final judged performances of the 2006 American Idol season.
“My Destiny” will be Katharine’s first single if she wins it all tomorrow night. It’s a very Idol-esque song that I’m sure I will get used to hearing about 100 times a day on the radio if Katharine wins. I’m not sure why this song was written for Katharine, because it’s a little too low for her, and she’s off key on the low notes. I hope Taylor doesn’t have to sing this one, because it doesn’t suit him at all. Kat’s performance was a bit boring for me, and she didn’t knock it out of the park. At times she pushed way too hard. Maybe it was the nerves mixed with the stress, and a touch of a tired voice. Sorry Kat but when you are joined on stage by a gospel choir I want a Clay Aiken “Bridge Over Troubled Waters” moment, and you just didn’t deliver. The judges agreed, and I thought we were going to get a ‘thanks for showing up’ from Simon, but he stopped short, and just told Kat’s fans to remember her 2nd performance of the night.
“Do I Make you Proud” is Taylor’s first single when, oh, if he wins. I’m so glad they get different songs this year. Dude, who is writing these songs, and are they even considering the singer, because much like Kat’s opening verse, this is just too low for Taylor’s voice. Difference is, Taylor opens it up and kicks a little ass with the rest of the song. That was a great song for him, and he was awesome. No question about it…Taylor you make me proud. I got money on Simon saying that this performance might have just won Taylor the competition? Oh hot damn…he said it!!! He said it!!! Ok, his exact words were: “Assuming that the show was tied, then you just won American Idol”.
OK…listen, if you love Taylor you HAVE to vote, because the McPheevers are going to be out in full force tonight, especially after Simon’s declaration.
Whether you vote for Katharine or Taylor, the most important thing is that you VOTE. So stop reading GMMR and get on the phone. Oh wait, continue reading GMMR, but grab your cordless phone, and your cell phone and start dialing.
Tomorrow night…the 2 hour American Idol Season Finale.
GMMR..out!!

Katharine McPhee and her yellow dress vs. Taylor and his gray hair
May 23, 2006 by Kath Skerry
In mere hours we will know who your next American Idol is. Will it be the gorgeous and sultry Katharine McPhee, or will be it me the energetic and soulful Taylor Hicks? If only there were a write-in option so my boy Chris Daughtry could take it all. I’m so looking forward to seeing Chris singing again tonight during the finale.
What am I NOT looking forward to? Seacrest dragging the show on for 2 hours. It’s so painful. Hopefully the cheesy numbers by the American Idol Top 10, and the performances by Carrie Underwood and Clay Aiken will make the night go by a bit faster. Yes, I like Clay Aiken…so there! Actually, I don’t know for sure that Clay is singing, but I hope he does. I can’t wait for all this Gayken stuff to die down a bit so the boy can release another album. No way can he do it know, every interview would be about who he likes to spend time with behind closed doors. Um, we don’t care!!!
Uh, sorry, back to Katharine and Taylor. Although I seriously doubt the 3-way split of 33.X% in votes last week (as Fatback pointed out, that’s damn near impossible when you are talking about millions of votes) the race could be close. Both performers must be on their A-game tonight. Taylor has to be especially fantastic because Simon clearly wants Katharine to win, and will use any opportunity he can to bring down Taylor.
If you come here often then you know where my votes are going tonight…yep, right to Daughtry. Wait? What? He’s out??? Damn, I forgot. Well then it you and me Taylor…All.The.Way!!!
P.S. Did you guys hear that Seacrest pulled an Bright Abbott/Irinia Derevko and fell right through some glass yesterday. I’m sure he will take full advantage of his “injury” to get the attention and sympathy he sp desperately wants. Seacrest…glass out!
P.S.S. How much do you want to bet that the American Idol producers hired “handlers” for Paula Abdul for tonight? These people will be paid mad money to watch her every move and keep all pills and booze at a safe difference…and by that I mean, how do I get THAT job?!
2 Degrees of Celebrity Sightings

My friend Kerry has been rocking the celebrity sightings while on her most recent business trip to Vancouver. Yesterday she was lucky enough to run into Felicity/The Unit star Scott Foley in her hotel, and then again at dinner. Sadly enough she wasn’t sharing his hotel or dinner with that adorable man (but I guess that’s good news to her husband).
If that wasn’t enough, Kerry also ran into the and only Rainn Wilson, who plays Dwight Schrute on The Office at dinner last night. Here’s the scoop directly from Kerry…
A bunch of us went to this famous sushi place in Vancouver called Tojo’s well – who was sitting across the room? Dwight!!! from the Office! MY FAVORITE!! with a table for 4 – well I decided I needed a picture (embarrassing all my coworkers) so when we were done I went up and ask if I could get a pic with him… well when I sat down the guy across the table from him looked so familiar – I was a bit flustered and embarrassed so took my pic with Rainn and walked away and did not talk to anyone else – he was super nice!
Then we figured out the other guy was Timothy Hutton – DUH…yes I am an idiot.. and I think one of the woman they were with was someone – I think they were all laughing because Rainn was probably the least famous of all of them…
I’m pretty sure Rainn & Timothy are in Vancouver shooting Mimzy.
She’s going to send along the pic of her and Rainn in the morning, and I will be sure to post it. Also, Kerry is going to be the GMMR point person in Dallas looking around for Wentworth Miller and the boys, as Prison Break films there next season. GMMR has got you covered!!!

Check out the adorable note I received from Jenna this afternoon. It totally made my day. It’s really nice to know that the cast appreciates their fans so much. And I guess I forgot that Give Me My Remote landed the very first Pam/Jim interview….EVER!!!
(click here to read our EXCLUSIVE Interview with John Krasinski & Jenna Fischer)
Sorry, the quality isn’t that great. I’m going to try to scan it in later, but for now, I just had to resort to taking a pic with my camera phone. Here’s what the note says.
Kathie –
I’m glad you won someting! Thank you for all the support you’ve given our show. It has made a real difference. GiveMeMyRemote.com rocks!!! You will always have the honor of doing the first Jenna/John interview – and our best! Have a great summer.Your friend,
Jenna Fischer
See…I told ya we were friends 😉
A little background…because Jenna is so cool, she gave away some of her swag that she received from various premieres. I was lucky enough to receive a great bottle of perfume. But c’mon, if she really wanted to send me something special she would have sent John Krasinski, right? Or at least his number…ha ha!

The 2006 network upfronts are over, and although I wasn’t able to attend, I loved that my girl Kelly could provide a glimpse behind the closed doors exclusively for GiveMeMyRemote.com readers. Kelly just sent over the last of her upfront pics, and they are good. I mean, the girl took a pic with Wentworth Miller so they had to be good!!! Check out all the sweet pics below.
But first, a shout out to my girls Kelly & Julie for letting me crash at their place in NYC last week. With all the hotels booked for the upfronts, it was nice to have somewhere to crash. And I think my clients appreciated me saving them $1000/night. Although, come to think of it, Julie charges $1000/night for her services, so they didn’t save that much. Thanks girls and I can’t wait to see you soon.

Well it’s over. After 5 years, last night we had to say goodbye to Sydney Bristow. I thought the season finale epitomized what made Alias so special for all these years…it was exciting, smart, heartfelt, and satisfying. I was sad to see my once favorite show leave the air, and I did shed a tear at the “Thank you for five incredible years” tag at the end of the show.
Julie has written her last recap for Alias. A special THANK YOU to Julie from all your readers at GiveMeMyRemote.com for writing such awesome recaps for us. I’m hoping this isn’t the last we hear from Julie. Show her the love and tell her how much you want her back next season for more recaps. Thanks again, Julie, I am so glad you joined our team. Make sure you check out Julie’s blog, TV and Sympathy.
Alias: “Reprisal/All the Time in the World”
We’re in the Prophet 5 bunker that Syd and Vaughn discovered a couple episodes back, surveying a wall of Prophet 5 casualties and suspected members. Syd’s voiceover describes how Prophet 5 had infiltrated the highest parts of government and attained an enormous amount of power. They believed it was run by 12 people, but no one knew who…until now. “I’ve lived with secrets all my life, and I’m done,” declares Syd. You go, girl. It’s on.
We’re in Sydney, Australia. Syd descends a staircase in a lovely leopard-print dress. She orders a martini, takes a few photos of someone with a lipstick camera, and is about to leave when she hears a couple names that sound familiar–names of Prophet 5 members. Jack tells her to get pictures, but not to blow her cover.
Meanwhile, the other APO’ers are scattered everywhere—Rome, Siberia, Bangkok, London–attempting to obtain pictures of various members of Prophet 5.
Syd attempts to pose as a waitress to get the additional pics, but her cover is blown and she has to race away from security. Up on the roof, she attaches herself to a harness, does a daring dive and takes a couple pictures of her targets on the way down to the ground. And with that, kick-ass rooftop stunts are added to the list of things I’ll miss about this show.
Kristen Bell Named Sexiest Vegetarian

Veronica Mars star Kristen Bell has been named the world’s sexiest vegetarian in PETA’s annual online pole. Bell shares the honor with recording star, Prince.
Bell said in a state about her vegetarianism:
“I had a hard time disassociating the animals I cuddled with – dogs and cats, for example – from the animals on my plate, and I never really cared for the taste of meat. I always loved my brussels sprouts!”
Congratulations Kristen!!!
