BBC Mistakes Cab Driver for Expert, Live on TV

May 16, 2006 by

I’ve had a few people email me this one today, and I think it’s great.  Here’s the story.

After a recent court dispute between Apple Computer and The Beatle’s record lable, the BBC wanted to get an expert opinion on the downloading trend.  A floor manager ran to reception and grabbed the editor of Newswireless.net, Mr. Kewney, and quickly rushed him on air.  Problem was, the man the floor manager grabbed was not Mr. Kewney, but rather the cab driver who was sent to pick up Mr. Kewney after the show.

The on air reporter immediately launched into questions about the subject matter, and the cab driver tried to BS his way through the interview.  After a few questions the anchor must have received word of the blunder because she quickly went to a field reporter.

Some say that cabbie knew all along, but I disagree.  Check out his face when she introduces him.  His face tells it all.

Veronica Mars Renewed for Full Season (Kinda)

So I am actually in a client meeting right now, and posting this from my cell phone, so I can’t write too much.  But this couldn’t wait!!  Veronica Mars creator, Rob Thomas, has confirmed that Veronica Mars has been picked up for a full 22 episodes, BUT…yes I said BUT, the show number could be reduced if the audience isn’t watching.  Oh, we’ll be watching.  Again…me…tasers…Nielsen families.  I threaten because I love.

Here’s the latest from my personal hero, E! Online’s Kristin Veitch.

The official word has just come down from the suits at The CW: our beloved Veronica will be back! (I never doubted it for a minute:)) Rob Thomas just sent me an email, confirming the good news. He said they’ve been picked up for 22 episodes, with the option of reducing the order to 13 if ratings slip too low. No word on their time slot yet. I’m sure Rob will let us know as soon as he hears!

Ohhhhh happy happy day!!!

ABC Releases Fall Schedule

May 16, 2006 by

Just wanted to pass on the latest ABC news from the Upfronts. Some new shows, and some big scheduling changes are coming in the Fall.

But before we get to all that, I needed to let you know that I think I’m going to skip the hotel in NYC and just stay with JK after all, and by JK I mean…Julie & Kelly. Too bad Kelly won’t be around, because she is going to the UPFRONTS. Yes, my good friend has been attending all the Upfronts this week and I didn’t even know. And she was in fact in the same room with the other JK (John Krasinski) last night. So while Kelly is off living my dream life, I will sit quietly in her apartment and cry myself to sleep 😉

On to the news…

Grey’s Anatomy is moving to Thursdays!! This is probably the biggest news of the day. ABC has just released their fall schedule and it has our friends from Seattle Grace on Thursday’s at 9pm. WOW! Good thing they aren’t up against The Office, or I would have to throw down. But Grey’s will most likely go up against Aaron Sorkin’s new SNL drama “Studip 60 on The Sunset Strip.” I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again…thank God for TiVo.

Here’s how the ABC fall schedule will look come September.

MONDAY:

8:00 p.m. “Wife Swap”
9:00 p.m. “The Bachelor”/”Supernanny”
10:00 p.m. “What About Brian”

TUESDAY:

8:00 p.m. “Dancing with the Stars” (new night)/”Set for the Rest of Your Life” (new alternative)
9:00 p.m. “Let’s Rob…” (new comedy )
9:30 p.m. “Help Me Help You” (new comedy)
10:00 p.m. “Boston Legal”

WEDNESDAY:

8:00 p.m.“Dancing with the Stars” (new night)/
”George Lopez”/“According to Jim” (new night)
9:00 p.m. “Lost”
10:00 p.m. “The Nine” (new drama)

THURSDAY:

8:00 p.m. “Big Day” (new comedy)
8:30 p.m. “Notes from the Underbelly” (new comedy)
9:00 p.m. “Grey’s Anatomy” (new night and time)
10:00 p.m. “Six Degrees” (new drama)

FRIDAY:

8:00 p.m “Betty the Ugly” (new comedy)
9:00 p.m. “Men in Trees” (new drama)
10:00 p.m. “20/20”

SATURDAY:

8:00 p.m. “ABC Saturday Night College Football”

SUNDAY:

7:00 p.m. “America’s Funniest Home Videos”
8:00 p.m. “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition”
9:00 p.m. “Desperate Housewives”
10:00 p.m. “Brothers & Sisters” (new drama)

WOW!! Thank God America’s Funniest Home Videos made the schedule. That would have sucked if that goldmine of entertainment went away.

Anyone Have Hotel Connections in NYC?

May 15, 2006 by

With the amount of people that come by this site everyday, I’m holding out hope that one of you has a connection to someone in the hotel industry in New York City.  I’m holding out very thin hope, but hope all the same.  I have to go to NYC on Wednesday night for business and with the TV upfronts in town, I can’t seem find an open hotel room in the entire city for less than $700/night.  Don’t you think it’s a bit ironic.  Me, of all people, finally getting the chance to be in NYC during the upfronts, and I can’t get into a hotel because all the TV stars and producers are there.  Life just sucks…ha ha ha.

So yeah, if your Mom, Dad, Uncle, Husband, Sister happens to work in the hotel industry and can find a room for me, let me know.  It’s a long shot but I had to ask.

Oh, and a special thanks to John Krasinski for offering to let me crash at his pad in New York.  J. Kras, it was awfully sweet of you, but we are just getting to know each other, and I don’t want to rush things.  Wait? what? Damn, did I doze off while blogging again?  I hate when that happens.

Someone help me find a hotel 🙁

RIP Everwood?

I don’t have much to say right now other than I’m so disappointed in CW’s choices so far.  7th Heaven returns (WTF?, Veronica Mars is rumored to have only 13 episodes, and Everwood is dead.  If you believe the rumors coming from the usually very reliable Michael Ausiello ov TV Guide fame, then that’s our new reality.

Here’s the latest…bad news on Everwood

Just returned from NBC’s Upfront festivities and, before I get to the highlights, let me get to a major lowlight: I heard from two separate sources this afternoon that Everwood is, in fact, dead. I’m choosing not to believe it until I hear something official on Thursday, but I thought you should all be prepared for the worst.

I’ll have more as I hear it.

Good TV Everywhere I Look

Sorry for being MIA most of the day. The callings of my real job kept me away all day. So much happened in the TV world last night. From the series finale of The West Wing, to Aras being named the latest Survivor winner, and of course the first part of the Grey’s Anatomy finale – a lot happened in our little TV world. I loved it all, but I’m not going to bore you with my two cents on it, since you’ve probably read all you want to read about it.

Believe it or not, tonight is an even bigger night. We’ve got the two hour conclusion of the Grey’s Anatomy season finale. Instant gratification.
Michael Scofield and his band of merry men broke out of Fox River, but just how far will they get? We are going to find out on tonight’s season finale of Prison Break. But don’t forget…Georgie Porgie is talking immigration for the first 20 minutes, so make sure you double check your TiVos, because if you miss the ending, I think you are going to be a more than a little bummed.

Also ending it’s Freshman run tonight is How I Met Your Mother. Unlike Stepha who hasn’t yet seen the brilliance of this show, I love it. Neil Patrick Harris, I love how you do that thing you do. After the past few weeks, I will say I’m worried about Marshall and Lilly. I hope those crazy kids can get their act together.

Everwood. I don’t know if I want to watch it tonight. Previews showed Bright going through a wall of glass, and that’s something I just don’t want to see. Not my Bright. My precious, Bright Abbott. Hold it together boy. There are three doctors in that little podunk town of yours, so I’m sure soemone can attend to you. Thursday could not come quick enough. I have to know if Everwood is being picked up for next season. But I have to tell ya, with rumors of Veronica Mars only getting picked up for 13 episodes, I’m kind of worried for all little Coloradians.

Anyway, I’ve got to run. President Bush is done talking, and so know it’s time for a litle.

I’ll be online tonight, so drop me a line either here or in the forums!!! But remember…no spoilers in the comments, or else 🙂

Good News/Bad News for Veronica Mars Fans

May 15, 2006 by
Filed under GMMR News, TV News, Veronica Mars

TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello is reporting that the buzz from the upfronts is that The CW has picked up Veronica Mars for a third season, BUT, they have only picked up our girl for 13 episodes. I’m not going to freak out just yet, as nothing…I repeat…NOTHING has been 100% confirmed yet. That being said, Michael Ausiello is a very reliable source. 13 epsiodes? Seriously…13 episodes. Watch out Nielsen families, because I’m going to be tracking you down and forcing you to watch Veronica Mars next season.

From Auseillo:

Veronica Mars Renewed?
Just received a fresh batch of Upfront intel and the buzz is that CW will order 13 episodes of Veronica Mars next season. Multiple sources close to the show confirm that this is true, but until CW makes it official on Thursday morning, I’m listing this as just a rumor. My take? Thirteen episodes is better than zero episodes.

TV Guide’s Matt Roush Does an About Face on “The Office”

May 15, 2006 by
Filed under The Office, TV Comedy

For those of you who regularly read TVGuide’s Matt Roush, you may know that he hasn’t been the biggest fan of the American version of The Office.  It’s not like he hated it, he just didn’t get the warm fuzzies like most of us did.  In his weekly Monday column, he would often get questions about The Office, and use that opportunity to let it be known that he wasn’t the biggest fan.

Well I’m happy to report that it looks like the season finale swayed even this critic.  Here’s a question from Matt’s latest column.  Make sure you check out Matt Roush’s “Ask Matt” column on TVGuide.com.

Question: I am all a-twitter over last week’s finale of The Office! I have the same butterflies that I had when Ross and Rachel shared their first kiss. Instead of feeling like they jumped the gun and brought Jim and Pam together too quickly in the show’s run, I feel lots of anticipation about the consequences of Jim’s declaration and kiss. And, might I add, Steve Carell did a brilliant job of writing the episode! What did you think of the finale, and are you already looking forward to next season already?

Matt Roush: Since the Jim-and-Pam relationship is by far my favorite element of The Office, I was floored by Jim opening up to her, her awkward response, his tearful departure and then his coming back while she was on the phone, opening up to her mom, for the climactic kiss. Superb. I didn’t see it coming, because I figured she might still be nursing her wounded pride from the week before (when it was revealed Jim had complained about her making her wedding arrangements so public, prompting him to look into a job transfer). Also enjoyed the episode itself a great deal. The more the series uses everyone in the office to score comic points, the better off it is. (The more Michael, and especially Dwight, take too much of the spotlight, the worse it becomes.) Michael’s hatred of Toby slays me. (“Why are you the way that you are?” Michael says when Toby harshes his buzz. “I hate so much about the things that you choose to be.” Hilarious!) And then Toby creams him on the first hand, calling his stupid poker bluff. Also brilliantly done: Jan’s self-loathing at actually accepting Michael’s invitation to the party, then actually being upset that it didn’t turn into a sleep-over. She had good reason to be jealous. The real-estate lady is Steve Carell’s real-life wife, Nancy Walls. And how inspired was the tape of Kevin’s retro cover band Scrantonicity? Given how I felt about the show a year ago after its underwhelming midseason run, I have done a near-total about face on The Office. I look very forward to next season. The Jim-Pam office romance will just be icing on the cake.

Oh, and I promise I will talk about other shows besides The Office…soon.  I mean, I still need a little time to come down off my season finale high.  Balls of Steel Halpert….balls of steel!!!

Last Chance Begging for The Upfronts

May 14, 2006 by

As luck would have it, I am going to be in New York City on Wednesday and Thursday of this week.  So what does this mean?  I’m actually going to be in the same city as the upfronts.  Of course I’m most curious about The CW’s annoucements.  Will they save my Everwood and Veronica Mars?  The CW annoucements are being made on Thursday morning at Madison Square Garden, and I would do anything to be there…and I’m going to be staying just down the street.  Fate right?!
So if you know someone…anyone…that could get me into the Upfronts, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me know!!!

Veronica Mars Night on Grey’s Anatomy

May 14, 2006 by

So I’m watching Grey’s Anatomy really late tonight and it might be the booze in my system right now, but I swear the whole B-list cast of Veronica Mars is making an appearance at Seattle Grace.  Within the first 5 minutes we’ve seen Mallory Dent (Sydney Tamaii Poitier) and Vinnie Van Lowe (Ken Marino), and rumor has it that Jackie Cook (Tessa Thompson) will be guesting next week.  We’ve already seen Duncan Kane (Teddy Dunn) a few months back, so I’m going to venture to say that the Grey’s writers looooove Veronica Mars as much as we do.

Oh and PLEASE don’t leave anu comments with Grey’s spoilers.  I haven’t watched the full episode yet. Spare me 🙂

George O’Malley is a Private “I”

You know all those rumors circulating around that one of Seattle Grace’s interns is supposedly leaving the surgical program on Grey’s Anatomy? Well I think I figured out who it is. I’m sorry to report that Dr. George O’Malley is giving up medicine to become a PI…a Private I, that is.

Ok, George may not be going anywhere, but TR Knight will be appearing as a Private “I” in search of the letter of the day in an episode of Sesame Street airing next season.

Could he be any cuter? Private I…I’m watching you!!!

The Loop Gets Renewed!!!!

Comments Off on The Loop Gets Renewed!!!!

I just got some fab news!!! Fox has renewed The Loop for 13 episodes. I’m not sure how many of you caught this show when it first aired this winter, but I’m going to get you to watch it next year. It’s pretty damn funny, and if you give it a chance, I think you’ll love it as much as I do.

The Loop stars cutie Bret Harrison as a fresh out of college business genius who has to balance his job as an important executive with an airline, and his fun loving, beer guzzing friends. Oh, and Bret’s character Sam has an unrequitted crush on his roommate Piper. You know how I’m a sucker for that unrequitted love stuff. We’ll watch this one together this year!!!

In honor of this great news, make sure you check out my EXCLUSIVE interview with the star of The Loop, Bret Harrison.

Overheard at the Upfronts….

May 13, 2006 by

As you probably are aware, the Network Upfronts are happening as we speak. The upfronts are a yearly tradition during which the networks unveil their lineup for the fall season to potential advertisers. Often the actors and actresses are there to shmooze with the ad execs. But for us, it’s when we learn what new shows we can look forward to in the fall, and start placing bets on which ones will be gone before their 4th episode. TV is fickle I tell ya.

I’ll be passing on any upfronts news as I hear it. Here’s the latest from the rumor mill.

  • Inside sources are saying that The CW (the merger of The WB & UPN) isn’t too happy with their choices of dramatic programming for their debut season. In response it looks like they are bringing back 7th Heaven for an 11th season. Yes, the same 7th Heaven whose series finale they hyped to the point of nausea last week. The Camdens…they just won’t go away. They are pesky little Christians, aren’t they. I swear, if Everwood or Veronica Mars doesn’t make it on to The CW’s fall schedule and 7th Heaven does…well I’m not going to watch The CW…ever. I will glady give up Lorelai and Rory to honor Veronica, Logan, Ephram and Bright. (Source)
  • Looks like the only Aquaman we will be seeing this year is the one starring Vincent Chase & Mandy Moore. The much rumored Aquaman TV show that was slated for The CW has been nixed. That’s the rumor around town according to E! Online’s Kristin Veitch.(Source)
  • TV Diva, Kristin Veitch, is also reporting that there is new life for ABC’s midseason replacement, What About Brian? Having entered the schedule a few months ago with blah ratings, some, and by some I mean me, are surprised that this one will be back next year. (Source)
  • ABC has been picking up shows left and right. New for us this fall will be”
    • Brothers & Sisters – A family soap dealing with adult siblings starring Calista Flockhart, Balthazar Getty, Rachel Griffiths, and Patricia Wettig. Wait, does this mean that Mrs. VP won’t be on Prison Break next season? Upfronts are sucky spoilers!!!
    • Ugly Betty – The U.S. adaptation of the popular Latin American telenovela that follows the life of a plain but lovable woman working in the fashion industry. It’s being produced by Salma Hayek and the Reveille (the folks behind “The Office”)
    • Men in Trees – In this new drama, Anne Heche stars as a Manhattan shrink who flees big city life for Alaska…zzzzzzz
    • Traveler – A conspiracy thriller about three Ivy Leaguers who get caught up in a national security emergency.
  • Despite earlier rumors that it got the ax, it looks like Andy Barker, P.I. will be hitting NBC this fall. The show stars former Conan sidekick, Andy Richter, as an accountant who stumbles into a gig as a private investigator.

Check back soon for the latest news from the upfronts….
