Veronica Mars Season Finale

There aren’t words.  Honestly, I just can’t pull my thoughts together on the season finale of Veronica Mars.  Is was that good. There was some screaming, and a few WTF? thrown in with a few other choice words my parents would not approve of.  I promise I will share my thoughts on the episode tomorrow.  But I really have to watch it again, because I’m not sure my mind full grasped all the awesomeness of it all.

I did learn that watching the season finale with another blogger is an easy way to turn a 1 hour show into a 5 hour show. Oh, and despite what DuckyxDale might want to tell you.  I was not trying to seduce him tonight…he wishes.

A few quick thoughts before I drift off to sleep….

M.R., I’m so confused about the “smells liks bacon” reference.  We are going to have to email again tomorrow because I’m afraid I missed something.

Jason Dohring and Kristen Bell, your chemistry is insane.  Seriously perfect!

I hugged a mass murder and never knew it.  No matter how far off the deep end you fell (pun intended), I will always love you Kyle Gallner.

Damn you Rob Thomas.  I need some sleep, but after that ep, I’m not sure zzzzz’s are in the cards for me tonight.

Told you I would be back with some more Veronica Mars goodies. And this one puts the “good” in goodies.  My brother from another mother, DuckyxDale, landed an exclusive interview with Tessa Thompson who plays the devil-turned-angel, Jackie Cook on Veronica Mars.  Whether or not you are a fan of Jackie Cook, you will definitely be a fan of Tessa Thompson.  She’s sweet, funny, and a little snarky…just how we like ’em here on GMMR.

Find out what Tessa thought about Jackie’s cold reception into Neptune, why she’s hanging with McDreamy, and why she wants to steal Percy’s hair.

So stop what you’re doing, and head over to read DuckyxDale’s Exclusive Interview with Veronica Mars’ Tessa Thompson

It’s Here!!! Veronica Mars Season Finale TONIGHT

It’s what we Veronica Mars fans have been waiting for (and dreading) all year. We’ve been waiting for the answers to our year long question…who blew up the bus full of Neptune High students. We’ve been dreading a summer with no new episodes. But, if tonight’s season finale is anywhere as good as last year’s, then at least we can expect some mighty fine television tonight.

I’ve spent time this morning reading some quality reviews of tonight’s finale. Kristin Veitch from E! online was gushing about it yesterday in her weekly chat, and said that she has watched in three times already. Actually, I’ve read at least 10 reviews, and the general consensus is that tonight’s finale is going to be incredibly exciting and heartfelt. I can’t wait!!! I took the day off from work in anticipation of the finale. Ok, maybe I didn’t take the day off for Veronica Mars per say, but I did take a vacation day, so I’ve had plenty of time to read all the “critics” takes regarding tonight’s show.

The always fabulous Maureen Ryan of the Chicago Tribune had this to say…

“The episode came with a list as long as your arm of things that reviewers should not mention. So, here’s one thing that can be said: Kristin Bell and Jason Dohring, the star-crossed friends and sometime lovers at the heart of the show, are the two finest young actors working in television.

Dohring in particular has masterfully navigated a tricky part all year; his character, Logan Echolls, could easily be a bitter, one-note quipmeister. But in this episode, and especially in the recent episode “Look Who’s Stalking,” he showed an enormous range of emotions, from romantic yearning to confused regret, often without saying much of anything at all.”

And the Boston Globe’s Amy Amantgelo seemed to enjoy the finale as well….

When the culprit is revealed, he/she is absolutely astounding yet perfectly possible. The strong performances from Bell and this season’s baddie prevent their final showdown from turning into horror movie camp.

The hour is an emotional roller coaster, and Bell helps navigate viewers through the tricky landscape. A series such as “Veronica Mars” doesn’t work unless we believe in the scrappy title character battling the forces of evil. And you can’t help but believe in Bell, who easily moves between the flippant and the grave moments.

As much as it pains me to write it, I do have to remind everyone that despite all the glowing reviews, and critical acclaim Veronica Mars has recevied from Day One, The CW has yet to announce that the show has been picked up for a third season. Will Veronica Mars make the cut and be on the new CW schedule in the fall? We are supposed to find out this week. My gut is telling me all systems are a go. But my gut has to say that…I’m not emotionally prepared to handle it if tonight’s episode turns out to be the last Veronica Mars episode ever. Ugh, I need a drink.

Check back later in the day for more Veronica Mars goodies….I’ve got some good stuff to share.

John Krasinski on Leno on May 9th

Set your TiVos today because I don’t want you to miss John Krasinski’s all new appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno tomorrow night.  John, who plays Jim Halpert on The Office, will make his second trip to Leno’s couch on Tuesday to promote the supersized season finale of The Office.

Speaking of the supersized finale, John recently mentioned our efforts during a radio interview with Milwuakee’s WKLH 95.5 radio. (Click over to OfficeTally.com to listen to the interview) But more importantly he talks about Pam and Jim and where they are headed.  Ok not really, he gives nothing away, but I think we can read between the lines here.  Here’s what he has to say.

Pam and Jim.  It’s funny.  People want answers to a lot of the questions about whether or not we’re going to be together, and I think the writers have done an amazing job in pacing it out.  So definitely in the finale something comes up.  We meet in a crossroads and we have to make yet another decision about what’s going on here. So yeah, a lot does happen, and it’s actually one of my favorite shows because it’s so great to see how they deal with it.  I mean after a whole season of build up, it’s a really great episode. And it’s extra long this time, which I just found out.  Believe it or not it’s longer because people on the internet started a petition and it got all the way up to NBC

Thursday seems so far away.  I’m still holding out for some good Pam and Jim stuff.  Seriously, don’t screw with me Greg Daniels.  I know where you live.  Ok, I don’t but I know where to send some nasty fan mail 🙂

Grey’s Anatomy Recap: Damage Control (May 7, 2006)

Ok, let me warn you that it’s late and I’m exhausted.  I wasn’t planning on doing a recap, but I got a bunch of emails today from people without TiVos who asked me to recap the show because they had to miss it for one reason on another.  So if you find any issues, or typos, I’m sorry.  I’ll make sure to check it over in the morning, but right now I honestly can’t keep my eyes open.

Here you go…..

Grey’s Anatomy: Damage Control
Airdate: May 7, 2006

Meredith is over at McVet’s while he was cooking breakfast.  Finn is trying to call Meredith on her game, and asks her to sit down and try really hard to act like you she isn’t scary or damage. She claims not to be scary OR damaged.  That being said, she doesn’t’ want to talk about her family or the last guy she  slept with. Hmmm.

Speaking of the last guy Meredith slept with, George’s new woman has apparently spent the night.  And while Izzie and Meredith are in the bathroom, dishing about Finn (and the sex that Meredith isn’t having with him), Callie comes walking in, in her undies only (no bra), pees, then leaves without washing her hands. Izzie and Meredith are a little taken back by this and exchange a whole lot of “Oh my gods”.

As the workday begins, Izzie tries to explain to George that Callie crossed the line with her naked, non hand washing bathroom antics, but her point is smacked down by Alex who reminds her she’s the one dating the patient. Score one for Evil Alex Christina tries to bring the love back into the room with her gleeful attitude.  Yes, Christina.  Yes, Christina Yang.  Hell, she even does a cheer about the thought of patients on their deathbeds. Christina, you have got to get out more.  During her little rah rah sis boom bah, she bangs into Derek.  Meredith tries to ask him about Doc, the dog, but he throws all kinds of attitude her way. Ouch.

Break time is over for the interns as a car crash brings a family of four southern hicks into the Seattle General ER. Remind me to ask my friend at FatbackandCollards.com if “southern hick” is a derogatory term.  It probably is, and I apologize if I am offending anyone, but I can’t think of an alternative for the stereotypical personalities of these people.  Anyway, Mama and Daddy (Big Jim) were hit by a car going in the wrong direction, and then in turn, they hit the car of their pregnant daughter, Melanie and her husband. There’s a whole lot of gee whiz’s and heck yeah’s, accompanied by that upbeat cheesy music that let’s us know that we are supposed to find this all amusing. All family members appear to be fine – just minor injuries.  Mama even swats Alex away while he tries to examine her.  Mama isn’t wearing and undies, and she doesn’t know Alex well enough to let him see her “good girl”.  Leave it to Shonda and friends to work in yet another euphemism for the female anatomy. You think the writers have an ongoing bet on how many times a vagina-alternative can make its way into the script?

While the southern hicks are getting attended to, the guy that caused the accident is also brought in. Big Jim, the dad, is ready to attack him.  We soon find out that the guy who caused the accident happens to be a surgical intern at a nearby hospital. Oh, it’s Harold, from Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle.  I love this guy.  Oh, and I didn’t catch his character’s name the first time around, so I’m just going to call him Harold…deal with it.

John Krasinski & Will Arnett Host Death Cab for Cutie Screening

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I said I wasn’t going to be posting anything until Monday, but it’s Krasinski….and Arnett, so all bets are off.

John Krasinski from The Office and Will Arnett of Arrested Development fame….moment of silence for AD…..hosted a screening of Death Cab for Cutie’s anthology “Directions”.  For more on the movie and Death Cab, you should definitely check out their site here.

Can I just say that, yes, I first heard about Death Cab from Seth Cohen, but I’ve seriously been into their music ever since then.  They are an incredible band, and if you haven’t checked them out you are missing out on some seriously good music.

Anyway, John & Will hosted the event this past week in NYC (Krasinski is on the East Coast baby) and it looked like it was a blast.  Especially the after party which was attended by SNL’s Amy Poehler (Will’s wife), and Andy Samberg.  From the looks of the pics, it was also Gob’s  Will’s birthday.  For more pics check out the John Krasinski LJ community here. Now Amy, when are you going to get that boss of yours to ask Krasinski to host SNL?!

Comments Off on Mike Epps HBO Special This Saturday

Comedian/Actor Mike Epps who you all might know form “Next Friday”, “Friday after Next” and “The Honeymooners” is starring in his very first solo stand-up special, Mike Epps: Inappropriate Behavior. The special premieres this Saturday, May 6th at 10pm ET/PT

Epps has something to say about everything. In his adult only special, Epps touches on the the proliferation of police in California…the infiltration of celebrities into America’s jails…grown men who are scared by the boogieman…the problems of being a pimp with a lazy stable of hookers…the body language of aging “players”…the long-range problems of tattoos and more.

I’m thinking this is going to be pretty damn funny, so I think you should check it out.

A Little Jason Dohring Weekend Love

Sorry guys, but now that I’m able to post videos again, you’re going to be seeing a lot of them. But if I like ’em, hopefully you will too 🙂

A special thanks to loyal GMMR reader Kristen for sending along this awesome Logan Echolls video. Jason Dohring is crazy talented and it’s only a matter of time until Hollywood is banging down his door. And then I can say I knew him when….

Click on the PLAY button to watch. It might take a minute to load, but it’s worth the wait!

I tried to track down the creator, and I think it’s Southpaw79 from the TWoP boards.

NBC Greenlights Sorkin’s SNL-Based Drama

May 5, 2006 by
Filed under Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip

File this one under “no brainer”. NBC announced on Thursday that they have picked up Aaron Sorkin’s hour-long drama Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip for its 2006-07 schedule.

Studio 60, created by West Wing alums Aaron Sorkin and Thomas Schlamme, will tell the tale of a “fictional” late night sketch comedy show which just happens to air live on Friday nights. Ha, and you thought it was about Saturday Night Live…fool.

The cast is pretty damn cool. So far Bradley Whitford, Matthew Perry, Amanda Peet, Sarah Paulson, D.L. Hughley, Steven Weber, and Boston-boy Nathan Corddry have all signed on.

You know how I love my dramadys! When you cast naturally funny people in dramatic roles, you know it’s going to be good. That and it’s penned by Sorkin who is an absolute genius with a script.

Did I forget to mention that my inside sources have slipped me the pilot script?! Yup, I’ll be checking it out this weekend and give your my two cents on how the show looks…at least on paper.

Tina Fey also has a SNL-inspired show coming to NBC this fall. You know, because just one isn’t enough. Tina takes a comedic take on the backstage antics. Yeah, something tells me her’s won’t be as edgy seeing that she’s writing a show about HER job produced by HER boss, Lorne Michaels. I have the script for this one too, and I will get it to it very soon.

I’ve also been lucky enough to get some screeners for some mid-summer replacement shows. A full report will be coming soon. My shows are going on summer hiatus but I’m not.

If you work for a network and want to send along some more of your summer/fall shows for me to check out, email me.

Dunder Mifflin’s Jim & Dwight Don’t Know How To Play Nice

Jim and Dwight - Conflict Resolution

Veronica Mars Is ThisClose To Coming Back

To be honest with you, I haven’t let it in my skull that there is even a chance that Veronica Mars wouldn’t be renewed for a third season and end up on The CW. I just couldn’t imagine that the people at The CW would let this show go. They had to give it at least one year on air paired up with Gilmore Girls and their 6M visitors before giving VM and friends the boot. Now it looks like we are just about 2 weeks from hearing some (hopefully) great news.

If E! Online’s Kristin Veitch is right, then all systems are a go, and we will be hearing the good news on May 18th. Check out Kristin’s column for the full scoop, but check out what she had to say about what she heard from her peeps in the know.

“Don’t worry. It’s coming back.” Those are the exact same words I heard this week from an inside source regarding Veronica Mars. And she was quoting the exact same words of someone I think you’ll take seriously: CW chief Dawn Ostroff.

Seems that VM creator and all around fab guy, Rob Thomas, also feels pretty confident about their return

“I believe we’re going to be back,” VM executive producer Rob Thomas tells me. “Everyone knows I put a $4,000 shower in my office, but I also kept the Veronica Mars writers an extra three weeks, and we actually have episodes one, two and three broken for next year. I’m that confident we’ll be back, and we need to hit the ground running next year.”

And since we’re talking about scoop for next year, Rob also mentioned that they were going to move away from the season long mystery, and get into a few smaller ones. I had first heard of this idea during a press conference I participated in with Rob Thomas and Jason Dohring. I’m all for change, and I trust Rob, so if he thinks smaller mysteries will work, then as long as they involve a shirtless Logan I’m good.

Check out what more Rob had to say to Kristin about the set up for Season 3.

“We’re going to do away with the season-long mystery and, instead, go with three long mysteries. Our first mystery would be eight episodes long, and the nice thing about it is that we give the audience more jumping-in points.” In episode 16, the first mystery will introduce the rapist, who shaves women’s heads, which Thomas says “allows us to keep some characters we’ve grown to love on the show.

Head over to Kristin’s column to read more about who is and who isn’t coming back on Veronica Mars, and which show won the coveted SOS (Save One Show) campaign!

Comments Off on Office Talk in The Forums Tonight

Hope you will join us tonight in the Give Me My Remote Forums before, during and after The Office. It’s so much more fun watching the show with all of my GMMR friends.

I guess I forgot to mention it earlier, but John Krasinski was on my local radio station (Kiss 108 in Boston) this morning. He didn’t give much away as to what we can expect, but it was a fabulous way to start off my morning. He was adorable, per usual, but especially so because he was excited that he was actually on Kiss 108, which was the radio station that John listened to while growing up in Newton.
A special shout out to Diana and her mom, Karen who are both Give Me My Remote readers and Office-ianados. Love that mothers and their daughters visit this little site.

Since this might be my last post on Office Thursday, it’s only fitting that I pimp my Office stuff in the Give Me My Remote Store. I geeked out and bought myself a Flonkerton t-shirt. Just got it today and I love love love it!!!

Jenna Fischer & Other TV Faves on Celebrity Poker Showdown

May 4, 2006 by
Filed under Reality TV, TV News

I will admit it…I am a HUGE fan of watching a good game of Texas Hold’em on TV. If I’m channel surfing and see a game being played on ESPN, I’m there for at least an hour. So when Bravo first introduced their Celebrity Poker Showdown awhile back, I was a happy girl. I was even more happy when I found out that Michael Vartan was playing on a number of different episodes. Sidenote: How great would have it been if Vartan and Affleck were on the same show?!
The next all new season of Celebrity Poker Showdown starts on May 31st. Unfortunately, co-host, Dave Foley will have a new partner this year. Poker great Phil Gordon will be replaced by Poker loudmouth, and overall jackass, Phill Hellmuth. Remember how I said I loved watching poker on ESPN? Yeah, well I can usually find my way to the remote if Hellmuth is playing. He’s so damn obnoxious. Not sure if I’m going to love him on CPS..actually, I know I won’t.

The games have been set and the celebs have been cast. Our little own Jenna Fischer will be hopefully winning big bucks for her charity. All of us GMMRers will be rooting for you Jenna.

TV Squad posted the players list…here you go!
Game 1: Jorge Garcia, Michael Ian Black, Andrea Martin, Greg Behrendt, and Kim Coles.
GMMR Favorite…Tough one here. Normally, I would say Hurley right away, but Dude, he’s up against Greg Behrendt who wrote “He’s Just Not That Into You”. Since that book has been so important to my girls and me, I have to go with Greg on this one.
Game 2: Jason Alexander, Kevin Sorbo, Bryan Cranston, Jamie Bamber, and Susie Essman.
GMMR Favorite…Not sure I care who wins this one. I guess I’ll go with Jason Alexander. He did get to marry Britney. What? Wait..that isn’t Brit’s 1st husband? Damn, well I guess I’ll stick with Jason anyway. He still has that post-Seinfeld curse and needs all the exposure he can get.

Game 3: Fred Savage, Jennifer Tilly, Doug E. Doug, Brett Butler, and online tournament winner Ida Siconolfi
GMMR Favorite.. This one is a no brainer. Fred Savage ALL THE WAY!!!

Game 4: Jenna Fischer, Mario Cantone, Rocco Dispirito, Jordan Peele, and Keegan-Michael Key.
GMMR Favorite.. Like you even have to ask. Um, Jenna Fischer. Tidbit – Angela Kinsey who plays Angela on “The Office” was Jenna’s guest for the taping. I love that they are BFFs.
Game 5: Andy Dick, Macy Gray, Christopher Meloni, Joy Behar, and Robin Tunney.
GMMR Favorite.. Anyone but Andy Dick. I’m split between Joy Behar who I like, and Robin Tunney who I don’t, but she is on Prison Break and I just can’t abandon that.
