Does “Pulse” Have a Pulse?
August 13, 2006 by Kath Skerry
Before shelling out the cash to see a new movie, I am sure to check in with my friends over at Pajiba. As you all know, I am too much of a baby to actually see Kristen Bell’s Pulse myself, so I couldn’t really share my own opinion. So is Pulse worth hauling ass to the theaters for, or is this one you should wait for Netflix to send via snail mail?
Here’s what Jeremy of Pajiba has to say.
Pulse is one of those cautionary tales about the dangers of technology. Only this time, it’s not about the travesty of a man playing god, as in Frankenstein and its countless progeny, or the horrors of nuclear radiation, as in Godzilla, The Incredible Shrinking Man, and the dozens of other ’50s sci-fi creepshows. This time the evil comes from … email?

I thought that Pulse was okay. I’m also not a huge fan of scary movies, it’s like pulling teeth to get me to watch them, but I went anyways to support everyone’s favorite super-sleuth and Boone. Honestly, not all that scary, but a good fix for anyone who’s jones-ing for Kristen Bell. I think I would have liked it better if the kids behind me weren’t A.) constantly talking and B.) Making lude comments every time her shirt came off. I think I’d give Pulse a B-.
Plus it did exceed it’s $8 million projection with approximately $8.5 million.
