It’s a very Ellen morning here on Give Me My Remote. Our favorite funny lady has just been announced as the host of the 79th Annual Academy Awards which will air in February. I think Ellen is a fabulous choice, and she proved herself worth when hosting the twice postponed Emmys back in 2001. YAY Ellen!
More on the announcement after the jump.
Ivan Koumaev Dances on The Ellen DeGeneres Show

Did you guys see it? Jailbait Ivan danced his adorableness on to Ellen DeGeneres stage yesterday. Just as I predicted, our boy Ivan was indeed Ellen’s favorite So You Think You Can Dance contestant.
Ivan, who just for the record is no longer Jailbait (he’s 18) said it was his dream to talk to Justin Timberlake. Ellen said she mentioned him to Justin just the other day. Oh, can you imagine…I’d go to a JT concert just to see Ivan dance. Is that wrong. Ok, yes it is.
So here’s the video of Ivan Koumaev doing his thang…I think he was very well spoken and he danced his ass off. Can’t wait to see him on October 7th when the So You Think You Can Dance Tour hits Boston.

It’s here!!! It’s here!!! I just got an email from GMMR reader, Gossiphound, saying that she found the awesome S3 music video that aired after last night’s show. She uploaded it only minutes ago, and we are happy to share it with you. A special thanks to the fabulous Greys-Media.com who originally uploaded the video. Not sure how long this video will be live so watch it while you can.
WARNING this video contains minor spoilers for S3, but Shonda Rhimes let it air, so you know it’s not too spoilerish.

Grey’s Anatomy…S3 Needs to Start STAT!!!

OK, I just finished watching the new Grey’s Anatomy music video by The Fray that aired at the end of tonight’s show, and OMG I can’t wait for Season 3 to start. I LOVE Grey’s Anatomy, and I of course have been anxiously awaiting the return of the show, but tonight I am officially crazy excited. I’ll be scouring the web and try my best to post the video ASAP, but it was fab. At first I thought it was just all scene 2 scenes set to music (you know, very youttube.com like), but then I realized that the video was peppered with new scenes from Season 3!!! You know Shonda Rhimes wouldn’t let too much get out, but speculation will be rampant after seeing some of the S3 footage.
The music video (I thought) gamve some interesting clues at to some outstanding storylines including the overall fate of little Izzie and the MerDerAddyVet love square-angle. It also answered one very important question…is it possible for Alex Karev to be any hotter than he was in S2? The answer my friends is YES!! Yowza!!!
If you didn’t see the video, I’m sorry for gushing, but I’m sure you’ll see it soon enough…and hopefully it will be here on GMMR.
September 21, 2006 might just go down as one of the best night’s in this TV addicts history. The S3 premiere of The Office leading into the S3 premiere of Grey’s Anatomy…yeah, that doesn’t suck!!!
Update: If you did see the music video, can you PLEASE come talk about it with me in the GMMR forums. I’m dying to hear what you all have to say…WARNING these posts will be spoilerish.

“The Office” Thursday on Give Me My Remote

Two weeks from today is the Season 3 premiere of The Office. Can you believe it? Two weeks seems so close yet so far away. 14 days and we will know, once and for all the aftermath of ‘the confession’ and ‘the kiss’. What a night that will be. I’m nervous already. There’s NO WAY that the show can go the way I want it to…I just know it.
Season 2 DVDs Released on Tuesday….
At least we have the Season 2 DVDs coming out “officially” on Tuesday, September 12th. I say “officially” because some select stores already have them on their shelves. But of course NONE of the stores near me. I keep getting emails from people saying they already have their copies in hand, and it’s KILLING me!!!!
I pre-ordered by DVDs on Amazon months ago, and I think they are set to arrive around the 17th or 18th. Yeah, I’m not going to be able to wait that long. As of now, it looks like I will be buying 3 DVD sets. The one from Amazon (already purchased), the Target version (with the extra ‘Booze Cruise’ video blog) and the Best Buy Severance package (S1 & S2 with Dunder Mifflin accessories included). I’m thinking one will be my “borrowing” copy – the one I lend to friends. Another might be one that I send to the cast to autograph (fingers crossed), and the third is the one I will keep in my sole posession…in a glass case above my bed. TMI? Yeah, thought so.
Anyway, on to your weekly installment of The Office Thursday on GiveMeMyRemote.com. – KEEP CHECKING BACK AS I WILL BE ADDING MORE TO THIS POST THROUGHOUT THE DAY!!!!
Football replaces The Office tonight on NBC. So sad. To that end, I’m sorry to report that there will NOT be an Office TVj session tonight. We will be back chatting over at BuddyTV.com next week at 8/7c. But be sure to click over there now and set a reminder for yourself, so you watch and chat along with us.
Farewell to the webisodes…
The 10th and final webisode is live on NBC.com. I’m going to miss our little summer mystery…and yes, the money has been found and the culprit discovered. We get a little visit from Mr. Poop in this one. Yay!!! (click here to watch)
Kevin’s Blog – “Nice”…
Brian Baumgartner, who plays the fantastic Kevin Malone has updated his TV Guide Blog. I love Kevin, and love that he has been featured in more of the Office related features (webisodes, NBC fall preview, etc). He’s great!!
The Beard (formerly known as Roy)…
Rock 107 (Scranton, PA) talked to David Denman (Roy Anderson) about the upcoming season. Don’t get too excited, he doesn’t give anything away, but it’s still a good listen for all Office fans. (click here and enjoy)
The “Boss” Lady Sings the Blues….
Did you know that Jan Levinson (not so much ‘Gould’) is a sexy, saultry singer? Ok, maybe not Jan, but Melora Hardin is. Seriously, the writers must find a way to work her amazing talent into the show. How about another go at karaoke? Or perhaps we could see our favorite office couple “sway” to her beautiful and fitting song, “Heaven and Earth“. Check out www.melora.com for more on the other side of Lan Jevinson.
Talking to the Boys….
No new news on my upcoming interviews with Rainn Wilson and John Krasinski. Both are happening, but I’m just not sure about the timing. Their reps have been great, but both actors are crazy busy prepping for the start of Season 3. I’m pretty sure I’ll be talking to Rainn prior to the season premiere, and John hopefully a little later in the season (when he can spill a bit more). I’m more nervous to talk to John than Rainn only because if J. Kras ever been to this site, I’m sure he thinks I’m a 15 year old pyscho fangirl. John, I PROMISE it’s all an act. Hell, I don’t even find you the least bit attractive. (Do you think I convinced him…nah)
I think I have another interview in the works too. I’m working with awesome peeps at NBC to make it happen. When I know, you will know.
The Ballad of Jim and Pam….
A buddy of mine over at BuddyTV.com jumped on The Office train not too long ago, but that hasn’t stopped him from becoming as obsessed as the rest of us. Check out his new article on Beesly and Halpert. I love getting a guys take on the office romance.
The Ballad of Jim and Pam
There is not one show on network TV that makes me laugh like The Office. Adapted from the British show of the same name, its subtle humor has a style and uniqueness previously unseen on American TV. The pacing and plotting of The Office is far more relaxed than a typical show, which allows for the actors to manipulate comedic beats in ways sitcoms won’t allow.
The Office is unique in it’s presentation: single camera, presented in widescreen, filmed on a practical set in a faux-documentary style, and shown on NBC without a laugh track. The actors are all well-versed in improvisation, and a large portion of each episode shown is unscripted. However, the one aspect that I find to be both unique and completely refreshing on The Office is the relationship between salesman Jim Halpert and receptionist Pam Beesley.
Other Office Tidbits…
Want to know when your favorite Dunder Mifflinites will be on TV? OfficeTally.com tells you how to make sure you never the cast in their other TV appearances (talks shows, guest stars, movies, etc). (click here)
NorthernAttack.com & OfficeTally.com have announced their grand prize winner of The Office Ipod giveaway. What a great contest. Congrats to the winner and runners-up. Click here to read all about the contest and the winners.
The original Office creators, and all around comedic geniuses, Ricky Gervais & Stephen Merchant worked with Microsoft to create some hilarious training videos. Word is Gervais & Merchant didn’t expect these videos to hit the streets, but they are all over the place already so what the hell. I love Michael Scott, but damn David Brent is amazing. Click over to DuckyxDale to watch the videos.
Dunder Mifflin is Having Casual Friday….
Michael Scott was not joking when he expressed his concern for Pam Beesly and her ‘ticking time bags’. Just to show how serious he is, Dunder Mifflin will be wearing jeans on October 6th to support Lee’s National Denim Day. Check out the video to learn more.

Jailbait Ivan on Ellen DeGeneres TODAY!!!

So I was just about to jump in the shower (because I am running REALLY late for work….damn you Project Runway). Anyway, I in the interest of stalling I thought I would first check to see who the guests were on the morning talk shows. Imagine my joy when I found out that Ellen DeGeneres is talking to my favorite So Think You Can Dancer Ivan Koumaev (who knew his real name wasn’t Jailbait Ivan?). A little strange that she’s not talking to Benji or even Travis. But knowing Ellen, I’m guessing that Ivan was her favorite during the season and she just wanted to meet him. Yeah, me too Ellen!!!

Big Brother Shocker – Janey’s Got a Gun
September 6, 2006 by Kath Skerry
Filed under Big Brother, TV News
…ok well she doesn’t have a gun, but she did have a sole evicition vote and she wasn’t afraid to use it. In one of the BEST moments in Big Brother history, Janelle evicted Dr. Delicious, The Puppetmaster, The Evil Doctor Will Kirby from the Big Brother house. Chilltown has fallen.
[gv data=”KXUecoM-QpM”][/gv]
I actually stood up off my couch and applauded last night when Janey chose to save Erika over her bedmate, Will. Now if you’ve been reading GMMR then you know that Will was my FAVORITE houseguest. Yeah he was slimy, shady, and pretty much an egotistical a-hole, but the boy knew how to play the game. That was, until he got played.
So I actually spent some time this week watching the live feeds. It’s so strange to be able to watch the houseguests 24/7…no matter what they are doing. Altough I was hoping to see some mad scheming, I mostly saw the houseguests sleeping. Dude, the Big Brother house is boring. I mean BORING!! What I did observe first hand was Will working it (big time) with Janelle. The minute she won POV he was her BFF. They flirted and made out a little. He was using all his charm to secure his sho-mance kept him around for another week. But I’ll tell ya something. As much as I loved Will’s gameplay, I wasn’t as impressed with him when I got to watch the non-edited version of Dr. Delicious. Will seemed desperate in his interactions with Janey, to the point that it became completely transparent that he was using her. And to be honest, I truly thought Janelle was falling for his BS hook, line and sinker. I figured she would boot Erika in the name of some sexy hair and bedroom eyes. But no…Janelle proved herself to be a worthy component, and one who I am now hoping takes home the big prize.
For his part, Will was completely understanding of Janelle’s vote, as I think he secretly respected how she played the game, and even how she played him. The remaining member of Chilltown, the always whiny and coattail riding Mike Boogie is now left in the house with two woman who are out to get him.
And as for Erika…I am SO happy that she figured out that Boogie was playing up their sho-mance as nothing more game strategy. I was VERY worried that she was going to leave the house actually thinking that Boogie cared about her. Yes, she looked foolish on national television, but by revealing that she knew about Chilltown’s ulterior motives (aka ‘Operation Double Date’) she has redeemed herself just a little bit.
Oh and finally, we got our first glimpse into the sequester house where ousted houseguests must go until they reprise their roles as jurors in the season finale. James, Marcellas and Howie seemed bored out of their minds, but at least they have books and movies to watch. Howie and Marcellas were bitching at eachother like two kids on a playground. We saw Danielle enter the sequestor house followed soon thereafter by Chicken George.
One lesson was learned last night…Howie is an immature asshat. Still bitter after being nominated by George, Howie started verbally attacking George the minute he walked into the house. George was having none of it, and tried his best to remain the adult in the situation. I’m interested to see if Howie pulls the same BS on Will. Something tells me he won’t be such a tough guy. Too bad Howie forgot that this is a game, and he got outplayed.
So I’m not as interested in Big Brother now that Will has been ousted, but I’ve come this far, and I’m now jumping on the Janey bandwagon. Boogie, it’s your time to go.
GMMR Fall TV Pick: “Ugly Betty”
September 6, 2006 by Kath Skerry
Filed under TV Drama, TV News
Last week I was lucky enough to catch the pilot for what I expect to be one of my favorite new shows this fall, Ugly Betty. Ugly Betty follows sterotypical ugly duckling, Betty Suarez, as she embarks on her new career as an Assistant to the Editor of the glamourous, high end fashion magazine, Mode.
As you might just be able to guess based on, well, the title of the show, our Betty doesn’t exactly “fit in” with the glamazons that surround her on a daily basis. But Betty doesn’t seem to notice, or rather she doesn’t care as much as some might expect her to. She is focused on making the most of her opportunity and she quickly shows she has what it takes to make it in this ‘image is everything’ world.
Ugly Betty is a dramedy in the truest sense of the word. I found myself laughing out loud at some of the more absurd moments, but also found myself on the verge of tears watching Betty struggle with the some of obstacles she faces at work and in life. I found the whole show quite endearing.
America Ferrera (Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants) fits perfectly into the role of the Betty. Ferrara is bold in letting the producers turn her from the beautiful woman that she is, into the awkward and fashion-challenged 20-something professional (I mean, the girl still has braces and dresses like a grandma). As intelligent and sassy as Betty is, you can’t help but wonder why she is so oblivous about her appearance. But then maybe “ambigous” is a better word than “oblivious”.
I had only one slight issue with Ugly Betty. It seemed to me that some of the characters came off a little cartoonish in contrast to America Ferrara’s sincerity. Vanessa Williams, as the Devil who most likely wears Prada, Chanel, and Gucci, teeters on the edge of being foolish, but I think it’s more of the writing than her acting. But William’s botox inducing assistant, and Mode’s receptionist were so bufoonish that they almost took me out of the otherwise sweet show. I am hoping that once a few episodes are under their belts, these characters will stand out in a good way, and not like a sore thumb.
I however really loved the remainder of the supporting cast which includes Eric Mabius (The L Word) as Betty’s cocky yet conflicted boss, Mode Editor Daniel Meade. Alan Hale (The OC) as publishing mogule, Bradford Meade. And Ashley Jensen who is one of the only Mode employees that befriends Betty on her first day. I was so excited when Jensen appeared on screen as I LOVE her in the role of Maggie Jacobs on Extras.
Ugly Betty is based on the most successful telenovela in TV history, and I think the American version will be something you will all be addicted to very soon. Ugly Betty will definitely get one of the coveted “Season Passes” on my Tivo.
ABC.com has a great, albeit VERY spoilerish promo video, so check it out if you want to get a glimpse of Ugly Betty. But make sure you check out the show when it premieres on Thursday, September 28th at 8/7c.
American Idol’s Tamyra Gray Marries the Color Me Badd Dude
September 5, 2006 by Kath Skerry
I don’t know why I think this is so bizarre, but American Idol Season One finalist, Tamyra Gray just married Sam Watters, one of the guys from the early 90’s group Color Me Badd.
If you are a certain age (like me) then I’m sure you know all about this former boy band. And don’t even tell me you didn’t sing a long with “I Adore Mi Amore” or the oh so controversial “I Wanna Sex You Up”…if you deny it, you are lying to me and yourself. Of course whenever I hear the name Color Me Badd (yes with two D’s), I immediately conjur up memories of Donna Martin stalking them in their hotel until…she discovers her mother having an illicity affair in the same hotel. Scandal.
People Magazine has all the details about the wedding. I don’t really care all that much about the marriage itself, but I got a big kick out of this pairing.
Season Premiere of “House” Tonight
September 5, 2006 by Kath Skerry
This post contains MILD spoilers from tonight’s season premiere. Nothing you haven’t seen on the promos, but I wanted to warn you all the same.
House Season Premiere TONIGHT at 8pm on Fox.
If you already a fan of the mega hit House, then you should be crazy excited for tonight’s season premiere. I was actually able to check out the premiere episode a few weeks back and it was well worth the summer wait.
I’m sure most of you have seen the promos in which the crippled Dr. Gregory House is running over the river and through the woods and to Dr. Cuddy’s office he’ll go. Yeah, those scenes aren’t from a wacky dream sequence. The Ketamine has done it’s job as far as we can tell. Without giving too much away, let’s just say that House is taking full advantage of his new found pain-free existence. With this fresh new perspective, we see a side of House that many have never seen. But is it a side that we want to see?
His colleagues, his patients and his friends (ok, ‘friend’…just Wilson) see a changed man before their eyes, and while some take kindly to House 2.0, some others aren’t quite sure what to make of him.
When first watching tonight’s episode, I kept getting the vibe that something was very different. The set, the camera angles, everything just seemed new. Perhaps this was a subconscious nod to House’s own experiences, but it didn’t “feel” like a typical episode of House. But in no way did that distract from the always superb acting and witty dialogue. Somethings may have changed by Hugh Laurie is still one of the finest actors on television today.
If you are a House virgin, then consider giving the show a shot tonight. Unlike many other dramas, House is one that you can jump into very easily without a lot of background information. I think you’ll soon learn why so many of us TV addicts already love it!!
P.S. Click here to check out Fox’s recap of last season’s finale.

Prison Break Recap: “Scan”

Title: “Scan”
Original Airdate: Sept. 4th, 2006
Previously on Prison Break…The boys split up. Bellick got fired. Linc and Michael tried to bust out LJ but failed. Tweener hitched a ride to Utah with a co-ed. T-Bag killed the doctor they sewed his hand back on. Ok, a lot more happened, but I had to watch the episode on a red eye back from California, so I dont’ quite remember everything.
In tonight’s episode, we open with the scene of a car that has recently exploded. As Agent Mahone and the other FBI guys look on, we learn that one of the escaped convicts has perished. But which one? Looks like we are going to have to go back 12 hours in time to figure out how this all went down.
Understanding that Lincoln needs medical attention for his gunshot wound, Michael shows up at the door of his hot Russian wife. Michael Scofield goes a little McDreamy and a little McGuyver as he uses some rubbing alcohol and cajun pepper to deal with Lincoln’s bullet would. Lincoln deals with the pain by downing some pain killers and vodka, also known as Dr. Tequila Tancredi’s breakfast.
Michael leaves Lincoln for a bit to go get the car, which has everything they need to disappear. Unfortunately, it’s the car that has disappeared. Agent Mahone, who has been waiting for one of the boys to slip up, is pleased to find important information in a backpack found in Michael’s car – including cell phones and their fake passports. As it turns out, the backpack was stolen out fo the car by a homeless man. The cops don’t have the car, but they are looking for it. Michael is the first one to find the car at the local impound lot. Just as he’s getting ready to get the keys and go, the impound clerk gets a call from the FBI to stall Scofield, and insist that he NOT leave the lot. Michael catches on and steals the key right from under the nose of the impound clerk. Always one step behind, Agent Mahone misses yet another chance to nab the elusive Michael Scofield. Read more
Harold & Kumar Go to Silly Pipe Dreams

My friend Sonny of Silly Pipe Dreams is well on his way to becoming a famous TV and movie writer. Mark my words, he’s on the verge on landing something huge!!! But until his big day comes, he’s going to be productive with his time, and talk to other writers who have already landed their gigs.
Sonny will be interviewing Jon Hurwitz, who wrote the classic film Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle. Being a 30 year old woman, I don’t think this movie was targeted directly to me, but I thought it was hiliarous, and I’ve seen it at least 3 or 4 times. But most importantly, I love Harold and Kumar because I think it’s responsible for bringing Neil Patrick Harris back into our lives, and let’s face it. Haven’t we all been better off now that NPH is back? Agreed!!!
So go check our Silly Pipe Dreams and if you have a question you’d like Sonny to ask Jon Hurwitz, be sure to let him know.
