Rosie O’Donnell to Star in Nip/Tuck Spinoff
October 17, 2006 by Kath Skerry
Rumors have been rampant over the past few days that Rosie O’Donnell was in negotiations with the creators of Nip/Tuck regarding a Nip/Tuck spinoff based on her recent guest appearance as the filthy rich Dawn Budge. Well get this, negotiations are over and this is happening. Rosie actually confirmed the news herself on her blog.
No word yet from the Rosie camp on what this means for her relatively new role as co-host of The View. Will she continue? She only signed a one year contract with The View, so I guess that remains to be scene. All I know is Kelly Ripa has set the bar high. Looks like being a daytime talk show host just isn’t enough anymore. I’m fully expecting Joy Behar to appear next month as an ‘Other’ on Lost. Mark my words.
Are you a fan of Nip/Tuck? What’s your take on all this? Is Dawn Budge a character you want to see more of? Can Rosie manage the show on her own?
Jim Halpert…Did He or Didn’t He?

Last April, Jim Halpert booked a trip to Austrailia scheduled to leave on June 8th…just two days before the love of his life, Pam Beesly was supposed to get married. We know Pam didn’t tie the knot, but did Jim go on his trip? Hmmm.
The answer – NO!! GMMR reader Becky asked Paul Lieberstein (Toby and head writer) about it and here’s what he had to say:
“He didn’t go. The whole Pam thing took him by surprise, he transferred and then wasn’t really up for vacation. Unless, of course, we find a good joke in his vacation.”
Well there you have it. No need to worry about that mystery anymore. And stop looking for a little stuffed koala on Pam’s desk – you ain’t going to see one. And I guess Rayn was right.

Don’t be scared – give it a shot, I really think you’ll fall in love as quickly as I did. If you are nervous, let me talk you through it. It’s a frakking good show you and you won’t be disappointed.
Jo is back with another fab recap. Check it out, and praise her with comments. This show is tough to recap, and she rocks for taking it on!!

Original Airdate: 10/13/2006
Previously, Saul Tigh was released from prison because his wife sold out the Resistance leaders in exchange. Laura Roslin arranged to swap Hera- Helo and Sharon’s half ‘n’ half baby- out with a still-born pure human baby. Hera was hidden among the fleet and Sharon was left none the wiser and pretty messed up for a while. Galactica made contact with the survivors on New Caprica. Adama’s rescue plan includes sending Cylon Sharon down on the planet. The New Caprica Police round up anyone ever suspected in the insurgency based on a death list signed by President Gaius Baltar.
New Caprica. Tigh can’t get his patch right in the mirror. Little does he know that’ll be the least of his problems today. A clean-shaven Chief goes ballistic over Cally’s name on the death list. I had forgotten that the Chief had a crazy streak in him too. He and Cally are quite the match. Tigh snaps him back to reality to go find out where they are taking the prisoners.

Ok I have NO idea how this one escaped my radar, but we’ve got some important Must See TV tomorrow night. Jon Stewart is hosting Comedy Central’s first live, on-air and online special event, Night of Too Many Stars: An Overbooked Benefit for Autism Education. The show will be held at New York City’s Beacon Theatre on Sunday, October 15. The comedians will perform to raise money to benefit education and research programs for autistic children and adults.
You can watch the show LIVE on Comedy Central at 8/7c or you can watch it online at ComedyCentral.com.
Check out this AMAZING list of comedians and performers:
Will Arnett, Jack Black, Steve Carell, Kristin Chenoweth, Stephen Colbert, Elvis Costello, Jimmy Fallon, Will Ferrell, Will Forte, Fred Armisen, Ricky Gervais, Norm Macdonald, Christopher Meloni, Moby, Oscar Nunez, Mike Myers, Bob Odenkirk & David Cross, Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, Borat Sagdiyev, Adam Sandler, Amy Sedaris, Martin Short, Tony Sirico, Ben Stiller, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, Brian Williams
I mean, seriously, have you EVER see a list like this before. We’ve got the BEST of what true comedy has to offer. And on a personal note, you know I am floored at the idea of Carell and Gervais being in the same place at the same time.
Ugly Betty Recap – Queen for a Day

So are you guys loving Ugly Betty? The critics seem to and the ratings are definitely there. I wish the show was on a different night. Thursday is a tough night for TV. Lucky for us, Julie is here with the recap of each and every episode.
Title: “Queens for a Day”
Original Air Date: 10/12/06
After being thwarted in her attempts to access the club where Daniel’s celebratory first issue party is being held, a dejected Betty heads home to find Justin and Walter playing DDR (Dance Dance revolution, for the uninitiated). As amusing as I find it, the sight of Walter’s flailing limbs isn’t enough to cheer Betty up. She’s still bummed that her appearance kept her out of the club.
Daniel, similarly, is not feeling too cheery. Sure, his first issue’s a success, and he’s getting all the vapid female attention he can stomach, but the shadow of his apparently awesome dead brother Alex still looms over him. It’s hard to feel worthwhile when your dad doesn’t think you’re competent and you have a shrew like Wilhelmina always stabbing you in the back.
In an effort to prove his father wrong yet again (oh, Daniel, when will you learn?), Daniel buckles down with Betty and a bunch of back issues to analyze what his brother did that made the magazines he once worked on so successful. No shock, it’s all about appearance, too; the wildly profitable changes Alex made were just different fonts, layouts, and photo shoots.
Battlestar Galactica Recap – GMMR Hearts BSG
October 13, 2006 by Kath Skerry
I so didn’t want to like Battlestar Galactica. Despite all the critical praise it has received since its debut, I had no interest in watching a Sci Fi show. It’s just not my thing. But one night, I happen to see “Battlestar Galactica: The Story So Far” listed in my online TiVo Guide. I set it to record and let it hang out for about 2 weeks. One dreary Sunday, with absolutely nothing to do I decided to watch it, and that was that. I am hooked. BSG certaintly lives up to the hype. The characters are so developed and the writing is amazing. And the Sci Fi angle? I found myself forgetting it was Sci Fi after about two minutes. It’s that good.
So, Battlestar Galactica will be talked about here on GMMR. I’m so happy to welcome Jo as our new resident Battlestar Galactica recapper. Poor Jo, if she only knows how many questions she’s going to get from me until I get completely caught up with the show. Welcome Jo!!
Everyone watch (or at least TiVo) BSG TONIGHT and every Friday at 9pm on Sci Fi. Check out the Battlestar Galactica site and get caught up…you won’t be sorry.
So last week was the Season 3 premiere and Jo was kind enough to write up a great recap. Looking forward to tonight!!
Title: Occupation / Precipice
Previously on BSG, the remainder of all humanity adds Cylon occupation
to list of horrible things about living on New Caprica.
Glimpses around New Caprica. A scruffy Col. Saul Tigh, sans one eye, is
huddled like a beaten animal in a Cylon holding cell. Cylon Leoben
serves food serves food to Starbuck inside a nice house. Meanwhile,
Anders and Tyrol blow a raider and a few toasters to bits. Ellen Tigh,
Saul’s wife, uses her only skill to bust her husband out of jail.
Starbuck gives Leoben a stepford like Thank you as he cuts her food for
her. He’s smart not to trust her with a knife, but she goes Hitchcockian
and stabs him over and over. It takes a brave woman to stick a fork in a
toaster. Brave or Deranged, your pick. She wipes her bloody hand on the
carpet and returns to her dinner.

Wanda Sykes: Sick & Tired

Catching up with GMMR…
So much TV and so little time. You know Thursday is my favorite night for TV, but I fell a little behind last night. Yesterday one of my very best friends turned the big 3-0, so we kicked off the weekend celebration at the Boston College football game. We actually made it a whole 5 minutes int the stadium befor ditching the guys for some boozing on the roof deck. Good times.
I did manage to catch The Office and Grey’s Anatomy, although a re-watch wil be required (now that I’m sober). The Office was pretty damn funny last night. The scene with them sharing their stories of personal grief had me crying. Pam and Ryan were hysterical – I half expected Ryan to break out into song “Oh I just can’t WAIT to be King”. That was a classic!! And Pam singing along with Dwight’s recorder. Oh my God….I was crying (tears for the dead bird of course). And you know how I love me some Creed. Have you noticed how the writers are using him more and more? Kudos to them.
On the Jam front. I do feel like I’m being a little cheated. We got so invested in Jim and Pam’s relationship last year and now we have nothing…nada. I’m not completely opposed to the idea of Jim and Karen, but I thought their scenes were a bit boring last night. And I know these eps were aired out of order, but Karen’s affections towards Jim seem a little uneven. The first episode she was mocking him. The 2nd time we saw her she was practically drooling over him, and last night she seemed annoyed, indifferent, smitten…it was kind of all over the place. I have a feeling this episode was shot before ‘The Coup’. I’ll see if I can find out today. But all JAM stuff aside, I’m still missing Jim in Scranton.
Stoned Meredith could be my new best friend. I loved how she was laying it on the line with everyone. Was anyone else really nervous that she was going to spill to Bailey that she banged George?! That would have been tough. But I really loved the heart-to-stoned heart she had with Addison. I figured Addie didn’t hate Meredith as much as she wanted to.
One full episode in and McSteamy is causing all kinds of chaos. Addison is all a flutter. He’s already on Dr. Bailey’s bad side (and dude, you SO don’t want to be there if you can help it), and now he’s sexing it up with Callie. I thought she and George were going to last for awhile. I totally get why Callie was pissed, but I’m glad that George went home to be with Izzie. I kind of wish those two would get it on, but then again, at the same time, I like them being BFFs….you know what I mean?
And Izzie….seriously, Katherine Heigl is acting circles around anyone else on TV right now. Since Denny’s death she has been raw in her portrayal of the grieving Izzie. I haven’t felt one false moment – she’s been amazing. And, um, $8.7M?! That’s a crazy amount of money. Do you think she’ll take it? I hope so…the kids could have some serious fun with that bank laying around. Maybe Izzie will use the money to connect with some long lost family memeber….hmm. All in all, another great episode.
Oh damn, I almost forget about the McDreamy/Mer/McVet non-triangle. I was a little confused as to what went down (it could have been the booze…sorry). So did Derek realize that he didn’t love Meredith and that’s why he walked away? Or does he love her and he’s giving her up for the greater good? Someone please fill me in. And after all that, she still chose McDreamy?! I feel like it’s a bit like that parable. It was something about two people fighting over someone else, and the one that walked away first, to spare everyone else the pain, was the one deemed worthy in the end. Yeah, I’m not making much sense but someone out there knows what I mean. Anyway, I’m intrigued to see where this one is going, and to be honest, Meredith’s love life is usually the least intriguing part of Grey’s Anatomy…at least for me.
So that’s that. I missed talking about the shows last night with you all. So comment away!! What did you guys think about The Office, Grey’s Anatomy or any of the other shows that were on last night?
“The Office” Thursdays on Give Me My Remote (UPDATE)

It’s Thursday, and don’t let anyone convince you it’s Friday…it’s not. Lots of “Office” gossip to share so let’s get into it. As always, check back throughout the day for updates.
Sneak Peek at ‘Grief Counseling’…
If you’re looking for a quick Office-fix, then head over to YahooTV and check out three clips from tonight’s episode. Something tells me this one is going to be a classic. And if you can manage to hold out until 8:30/7:30c, then more power to you. (Yahoo clips – click on the NBC logo and then The Office)
From the Desk of Meredith Palmer…
Kate Flannery, who plays the office drunk Meredith Palmer, is back with a new TV Guide blog. This week she gives us the behind-the-scenes scoop on tonight’s episode. But more importantly, she teaches us the important difference between Meredith from Meredith…in case you get confused. And did you know that you can leave Kate a comment on her blog? Yup, and I have it on good authority that Kate is reading all of them. (Meredith’s Blog)
Yeah, Why Did You Hook up with Michael…
Dunder Mifflin Corporate’s own Jan Levinson (not Gould) seems to be at constant odds when it comes to her romantic feelings for Michael Scott. Melora Hardin recently sat down with TV Guide and shared some insight on what’s really going on with Jan and Michael, and is there a spark between Jim and Jan? Ugh – that boy’s plate is full enough. (Q&A with Melora Hardin)
The Office LIVE Chat Tonight – IT’S ON…
For those of you who missed the LIVE Office chat over at BuddyTV.com last Thursday, well let’s just say you missed a GREAT time. It was definitely the Best.Chat.Ever!! We will once again be back at 8pm EST to watch the show together online. Sadly, I’m not going to be able to make it tonight BUT I have someone to fill in for me so the chat is on. (Set a reminder for The Office Chat)
Office Love on The Hot List….
TV Guide Magazine just published its “Hot List” which features TV’s Hottest people and shows. And guess who has the hottest love traingle on TV? Move over McDreamy, Meredith & McVet – it’s all about Jam & Ram (TWSS). But technically the triangle has become a square now that Karen is in the mix. Wouldn’t Karen & Roy make a great couple?! Anyway, here’s what the mag had to say”
Why Them? You didn’t expect Pam (Jenna Fischer) to just ditch fiance Roy (David Denman) and live happily ever after with Jim (John Krasinski), did you? After all, the NBC comedy is only in its second full season. “Jim needed to figure out who he is, and Pam needed to do to same,” Fischer says. While Jim’s transferred to Dunder Mifflin’s Stamford office, Roy is fighting to win back Pam. He’s dropped weight, and looks great. What’s his secret? Must be those frozen chicken-or-fish wedding meals he eats for lunch every day.
Officianados Love Their TiVos…
Did you know that Nielsen is starting to measure playback on DVRs? Yup, and counting these “delayed views” is good news for some shows. According to USA Today, “NBC’s The Office had the biggest percentage of delayed viewers” (I promise they aren’t insulting our intelligence). “The show’s ratings spiked nearly 7% when viewing later Thursday night is counted, and more than 11% from viewing up to a week later.” Too bad the show ratings didn’t increase with each time it was watched over and over again on TiVo. I average at least 4 viewings of every episode. (USA Today)
John Krasinski on Ellen DeGeneres…
Speaking of TiVos, don’t forget to set yours for Wednesday, October 18th as J. Kras is scheduled to appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Don’t worry, I’ll be sure to remind you a million times before then.
The Office Staff has Downtime….
One of my favorite all time Office videos is an interview conducted for “Clip & Quips”. It features John, Rainn, BJ and Jenna playing around while trying to promote the show. The video was made a long time ago (J. Kras is sporting his ‘Jarhead’ hair, so that tells ya right there), but it’s pretty funny.
[gv data=”yO76IGXZKCs”][/gv] But Wait, There’s More…
Tanster over at OfficeTally.com recently brought our attention to a scene that didn’t quite make the cut from the original “Clips & Quips” video. Boaz, the guys conducting the interview auditions for a role as Phil the intern, the newest employee of the Scranton branch. You will see why you aren’t familar with a character named Phil. Oh and don’t think I didn’t love the 3 seconds of Krasinski singing.
Psst…let the video load so you can fast forward through the interview with Jordana Brewster and just watch the Dunder Mifflinites.

Lost Recap: The Glass Ballerina

I am loving Lost again!! I’ll be honest, with all the repeats and the Hatch business, I lost (no pun intended) a bit of interest in the second half of last season. But the first two eps of this season have been really interesting and I find myself right back in it.
You know who else is into the show? Michelle, our fabulous Lost recapper. Lost is NOT an easy show to recap, so my hat is off to you Michelle for for writing such detailed and fabulous recaps.
So are you watching Lost? What do you think about the new season so far?
Title: The Glass Ballerina
Original Airdate: 10-11-06
Tonight, we visit with more of our castaways, as the storybranches out to cover more characters that weren’t seen last week. Are Kate and Sawyer still living in the cages? Are they still performing their circus tricks? Perhaps they’ve learned to run their maze well enough to earn a liver treat to go with their fish biscuits…yum!
FLASHBACK: Sun, as a child, breaks a glass ballerina, which shatters brilliantly on the floor. When confronted, she tells her father that the maid did it. He tries to get her to recant her story by telling her that he’ll be forced to fire the maid if this is true. But she sticks to her guns and tells her dad the maid did it. Turns out Sun is not afraid to lie…a pattern that will serve her well later in life. And in this episode.
Jin, Sun and Sayid are in the boat, still waiting for Jack to respond to their smoke signal (don’t forget, they don’t know they’re actually at the “fake” Others camp, or that Jack and crew have been captured). Jin wants to leave, but Sayid wants to wait longer. Jin pulls out his Angry Possessive Husband card and tells Sun that she should agree with what HE wants, and that they will have to leave when he wants because he’s the only one who knows how to sail the boat. She pulls out her Julia Roberts in “Sleeping with the Enemy” Card and tells Sayid that SHE knows how to sail and can help him sail the boat. I don’t know what to make of Jin and Sun’s relationship…secrets, lies, power struggles, betrayals. I bet they’re the couple with whom most people in America can best identify.
30 Rock Review and Recap: The Pilot
October 12, 2006 by Kath Skerry
I was super excited for last night’s premiere of NBC’s new comedy 30 Rock. No, not because I thought it was going be a ground breaking, laugh out loud comedy – my excitement was more for the fact that we didn’t have to see any more of the tired promos that NBC has been airing non-stop since the dawn of man. If you haven’t heard of 30 Rock, it’s clearly because you’ve been living under one.
But the premiere did indeed air last night, and we here at GiveMeMyRemote.com are lucky to add another contributor to our humble site. Brian, a loyal GMMRer, has joined the ranks to recap and review 30 Rock. A round of applause and comments for Brian. Woo hoo!!
Title: The Pilot
Original Airdate: 10/11/2006
Liz Lemon probably wishes she called in sick on this particular day, because almost from the time she pokes her head inside the studios at 30 Rockefeller Center, her job as head writer at “The Girlie Show” is thrown for a few major loops.
If you think you’re seeing double, don’t adjust your televisions (Can TVs be adjusted? I don’t think there’s such a thing as vertical hold anymore). 30 Rock, NBC’s other much-hyped new show looking behind the scenes at an SNL-type variety show, debuted tonight. And it’s clear right off the bat that, if nothing else, they got the casting right, starting with a pair of ready-for-primetime players. Tina Fey is smart, pretty and well-suited to the role of creative force behind a hit comedy show. Tracey Morgan is off-the-wall and funny just oozes from his pores. Alec Baldwin, meanwhile, provides a veteran presence with surprising comic timing.
At the outset we get a glimpse of just who Liz (Fey) is. On line at a hot dog cart, she confronts a cutter. To avenge the slight, she buys ALL the hot dogs and proceeds to hand them out to “the good people” who stayed in line behind her, not to mention every hobo, businesswoman and grade-school student she passes on her way to work. Most of these charity dogs get tossed, back at her and otherwise.
The show cuts to the rehearsal of a sketch from that night’s show-within-the-show, “Pam, the Overly-Confident Morbidly Obese Woman,” portrayed by Jane Krakowski’s character Jenna DeCarlo. Liz makes her way past the stage to the back offices where she is introduced to a tour group by Kenneth, an overly enthusiastic page (Hack McBrayer). We then meet Pete (Ken Adsit), her producer and close friend.
Pete: (holding a giant box of hot dogs) What is this?
Liz: Oh, well you know how I hate it when people cheat or break rules?
Pete: Yes I do
Liz: Well I just spent a hundred and fifty bucks on wieners.
Pete: Attaboy.
It Wasn’t “Lost” on The Red Sox
