Gilmore Girls Recap: Lorelai’s First Cotillion

Whirl is back with a recap of last night’s Gilmore Girls. What did you think about last night’s Gilmore Girls? And what do you make of the last scene….interesting!!! I’m dying to see where this will all end up. Make sure toi share the love with Whirl for taking on this recap.
And while Whirl was on the ball with her recap, I on the other hand haven’t been able to get to Veronica Mars yet. Sorry, things have been a bit nuts for me these past few days. I apologize a million times over. Work has been rooooough lately.
But on to Rory & Lorelai and their precious banter.
Title: Lorelai’s First Cotillion
Original Airdate: 10/10/06
It must be Friday night because Lorelai and Rory are in front of the Gilmore Estate dressed and ready to go. Well except for the fact that Lor is trying to convince her daughter to punch her in the face to get out of it. Seems bleeding is a get of a dinner free card and prevents Emily and Richard from finding out that the engagement is off. She just knows her parents are going to want to talk about it and she doesn’t want the night to be all about Luke. Rory promises to deflect any Luke conversation to the thrilling topic of “Bangalore”, which I at first thought was a made up word. Turns out it has something to do with nice guys in India speaking perfect English and Time Magazine. Lorelai doesn’t think it will work but Rory knocks on the door anyway.
The door is answered by a cute little girl in a pretty little party dress, and by cute I mean scary. Very scary. Something about little girls looking and acting perfect gives me the heebie-jeebies. Emily introduces her as Charlotte, the granddaughter of some dear friends, and part of Emily’s cotillion class. Emily’s training the high society of tomorrow! Charlotte’s only ten yet somehow knows how to make a martini straight up, but is too stingy with the ice for Emily’s taste. Lorelai jokes she can help Creepy Charlotte escape but the little girl just laughs it off.
Burke & McDreamy Come to Blows on Set (UPDATE)

My money would have been on McDreamy coming to blows with McVet, or perhaps McSteamy, but not Burke?! But according to People Magazine Patrick Dempsey (Dr. Derek ‘McDreamy’ Shepherd) and Isiah Washington (Dr. Preston Burke) got into a very heated argument on the set of Grey’s Anatomy earlier this week.
“We were like two baseball players . . . nose-to-nose,” Washington said. “We had a difference of opinions while working on set but we’ve resolved it.” No punches were thrown: “Our faces are too beautiful for that!,” says Washington
So what caused the commotion? According to Isiahh, it was “time and (keeping) the production going. The communication was lost in translation.” But all seems to be well again on the set. The boys were sitting next to each other during a script reading just a few hours later.
“In close families arguments happen,” Dempsey’s rep tells PEOPLE. “They worked it out.”
Washington even learned a little something about his costar. “I’ve never been that close to (Patrick) before,” he says. “He has really pretty blue eyes.”
That was Version A of the story…
…and now for another version. This one a tad more intriguing. According to other sources, here’s what went down.
“What are we waiting on?” said Isaiah.
“Not me,” said Patrick. “I’m always ready.”
“At that point,” said the source, “Isaiah said something mean to T.R. Knight” (who plays mild-mannered Dr. George O’Malley).
“That’s when Patrick told Isaiah, ‘Pick on somebody your own size.’
“Well, that did it. Isaiah became enraged and grabbed Patrick by the throat and shoved him back a few feet.
“Dr. McDreamy [Dempsey’s nickname] almost landed in McDreamland.”
When Knight demanded that the pair break it up, the source says, “Isaiah called him a bitch. Isaiah stormed off to his trailer to cool off, while Patrick and T.R. stood there in disbelief.
So You Think You Can Dance Hits Boston

A gorgeous Fall night in Boston. A beautiful and historic theatre. And tweens as far as the eye could see. Oh yes, it was the So You Think You Can Dance Tour and I was there!
If you are a regular reader of GiveMeMyRemote.com, then you know that I found myself completely and utterly obsessed with So You Think You Can Dance in this, its second season. Not having caught the first season of the show, I initially wrote SYTYCD off as another hack American Idol ripoff, but I was quickly proven wrong. Week after week, these amazing dancers – some still in their teens, stretched the limits of their artistry to perform original routines choreographed by some of the most notable talents in the industry.
This season So You Think You Can Dance found its audience, and soon dancers such as Benji and Travis became household names. With an audience who clearly responded to the dance craze, the So You Think You Can Dance Tour was born. And last Saturday night, I was lucky enough to attend the performance at The Wang Center in Boston.
So let’s set the scene…Ducky and I, along with our friends Jen & Jess, headed into Boston to see our favorite dancers one last time. Standing outside the theater you could have easily thought we were heading into a taping of TRL. We had tweens all around, each of which seemed to be sporting an obvious sign of adoration, perhaps it was a “Mrs. Benji Schwimmer” shirt, or maybe a “I Love Ivan” homemade sign – whatever it was, it made me feel a tad bit old and a little out of place. I kept imagining walking in and being the oldest person there (who wasn’t a chaperone). How wrong I was.
The tickets that Ducky snagged (on the first day they went on sale) were stellar. Close to the stage, but far enough back that we could get the full effect of the show. As we sat, I was pleased to see that we seemed have landed in the adult section of the theater. The people in front of us were well into their 40’s and suddenly I felt a bit better. That was until the lights went down and the show started.
Make sure you check out the pics of the SYTYCD dancers and GMMR after the jump.

Our resident HIMYM recapper is man who goes by the name Jim Mosby. Yes, one part Jim Halpert, plus one part Ted Mosby equals GMMR’s ideal man. Show Jim Mosby the love and let him know what you think of How I Met Your Mother and the recaps.

Awwww, Ted and Robin had their first fight as a couple. Holy crap was it hilarious!
It all started when Robin had enough of Ted whining about work.
Ted: How was your day?
Robin: Good.
Ted: Wow, you are a great interviewer. Aren’t you going to ask how my day was?
Robin: Oh, I know how it was, it was awful. Ohh, you want to rent a movie tonight?
Insert knife into Ted.
Ted: You know, I listen to your work stories all the time.
Robin: Yea, but I don’t want to be rude here but my work stories are interesting, I’m a television news reporter.
Twist knife.

By the time i fell asleep last night I was superhero’d out. I fell a week behind in my ‘Hero’ worship, so I had not one, but two hours of Heroes to catch up on. I couldn’t go another week with NOT reading Julie’s weekly recap, so I’m glad I am up to speed. And since I didn’t get to say it last week…Greg Grunberg is back on TV and all is right in the world. Well, it would be if that pesky Kim Jong Il fellow would just disappear. Can’t Hiro teleport his ass to a time and place far, far away?
Are you loving Heroes? Are you already over it? Let’s talk about it. And once you are done reading the recap, show Julie your love my visiting her site TV and Sympathy.
Title: One Giant Leap
Original Airdate: OCtober 9, 2006Las Vegas: A voiceover about self-preservation and survival plays as Niki digs up the desert earth. On the hand of a skeleton she unearths a skull ring, which she handily pockets. Um, hon, I don’t think it’s worth that much, and it’s definitely not your size. In the morning, when Niki’s work is done, Micah wakes up refreshed (just like I do after my mom buries people!) and they head to grandmother’s house. Grandmother, it turns out, wants to take care of Micah herself. She contends Niki is incompetent and that even her apparent murderous thieving double-crossing son DL (Niki’s absentee, prison escapee husband) would be a better parent.
Texas: Claire’s dad drops her off at school along with her effigy. Charming. Happily, it’s a big hit at the post-game celebratory bonfire, where Claire makes a love connection with the QB. Instead of making sweet sweet love, however, things go quite sour when ODQB tries to force himself on Claire while they’re making out on the bleachers. Things get physical, and he pushes her onto a sharp tree stump that gouges straight into her neck. Yikes. And that’s why you should be abstinent, kids!

For all that is good and holy in this world, DO NOT, repeat DO NOT watch CSI this Thursday night. Britney’s leech aka K-Fed is guest starring, and we don’t need to encourage him. CSI has big ratings anyway, but if they spike due to his appearance he’s going to assume people tuned it because they like him rather than the real reason…to see what a screw up he is. If you feel you MUST see K-Fed in action, then check out the clip below from Thursday’s CSI. But get your fix and then step away from the TV on Thursday. Do not encourage him…he’ll never go away.

Thursday is a killer night for TV. So much so that I haven’t been able to get to Ugly Betty yet. It kills me not to be able to read Julie’s Ugly Betty recap, because I like reading her recaps almost as much as watching the show. So enjoy…and remember comments=pure gold. So are visitors to TV and Sympathy, so head over there and check out what else Julie is talking about these days.
Title: “The Bunny and the Box”
Original Airdate: 10/6/2006
Betty arrives at work, all smiles, carrying a box of doo-dads to personalize her desk. Among them is a pink graduation-themed bunny, which Marc feigns to like. He “applauds her efforts at personalizing her desk.”
Daniel gets off the phone to give Betty a low-level talking-to about not mentioning certain things in the press (like that he wore shoes from a company with sweatshop issues), because they’re in a business where the press will twist things around. Betty takes it well. Of course, she’s even more excited when Daniel invites her to a meeting with Natalie Whitman, an actress who they’ve made out to be like Renee Zellweger with the yoyo weight gaining for movie roles. Remember, they’re a team, he reminds her — before asking her to go get some coffee.
At Bradford’s office, he listens while Fashion TV news diva gives the recap of the Wilhelmina controversy. Daniel arrives, and his father reminds him how important the success of the magazine is. When he finds out Daniel hasn’t been getting “the book” — the mockup of the entire magazine which essentially controls the magazine — he gives him a higher level talking-to.

Title: The Coup
Original Airdate: 10/5/2006
All these years I have been dreading Mondays. If only I had worked at Dunder Mifflin I would have known that the only cure for the Monday blues is Varsity Blues. Yes, Michael has decided that the Scranton office of DM should have “Movie Mondays”. I mean it only makes sense, taking time out of the workday to watch a movie means the employees have to work extra hard to make up for the time lost while watching the movie. It’s a win-win-win-win. The 4th win? Well that one goes to to Mox and the West Caanan Coyotes for winning the big game in spite of Coach Kilmer. I mean, that was HUGE!
Not as excited for Movie Mondays is Jan, and she lets Michael know. You know who else isn’t down with Movie Monday? Angela. Surprised? No me either, but Dwight is. At least he is when Angela goes all Lady McBeth on his ass and urges him to use Michael’s latest screw up as a way to take over the office.
Angela: Dwight, you should be running this office
Dwight: Michael would never let me
Angela: It’s not up to Michael. It’s Jan’s call, talk to her.
Dwight: I could never do that.
Angela: Fine. Sit back and do nothing and let us all get fired.
Angela: (to camera): I know that patience and loyalty are good and virtuous traits. But sometimes I just think you need to grow a pair.
It seems Fraulein Martin has had an impact on Dwight. Seeing an opportunity to finally rule Dunder Mifflin under the Schrute Regime, Dwight meets Jan for a secret meeting in which he tells her that HE should be running Dunder Mifflin and NOT Michael. Gasp!
