Friday Night Lights – Series Premiere
Debut: The on and off-field experiences of the players and new head coach (Kyle Chandler) of a high-school football squad in rural Texas are charted in this sports drama. The series kicks off with the Dillon Panthers preparing for their first game.

Gilmore Girls
Lane and Zack return from their honeymoon in Mexico, each with their own unique horror story; Lorelai has an emotionally painful encounter with Luke.

Veronica Mars – Season Premiere
The third season begins with Veronica getting settled into college life and helping Wallace’s roommate, Piz, discover who stole a prized guitar and other possessions out of his car. Also, a serial rapist strikes again. YIPEE!! More on Veronica Mars later today on GMMR.

Boston Legal
Shirley finds an unlikely—but familiar—foe in court when her ex-husband, Ivan (Tom Selleck), wants to get rid of his postnuptial agreement to his current wife. Meanwhile, Coho engages in questionable practices in an important case.

HEROES Recap – Chapter II: Don’t Look Back

It kills me NOT to read Julie’s recap of last night’s episode of Heroes. But alas I fell a bit behind on my TV watching last night and haven’t seen it yet. Ok, ok, I give myself until 10am until I break down and read her recap, but I’ll try my best to hold out until tonight.

Peter awakens with a start in a hospital bed, Nathan by his side. “What happened?” Nathan tells him he jumped off the roof of a 15 story building, tried to kill himself. Peter disagrees, says Nathan flew up and caught him. Nope, Nathan says, he jumped 25 feet onto a fire escape, where Nathan retrieved him. “The rest is just crazy talk,” Nathan says, with a seriousness in his eyes that shows he’s trying to convince himself as much as Peter.

Claire looks over the newspaper reading “Mysterious Good Samaritan Saves Man”. She asks her Dad if she can talk to him about something. He goes for the easy teen pregnancy joke before saying he guesses it’s about her birth parents. He’s right — she wants to know “who they are, what they can do…like hobbies and skills.” Skills like walking through fire. He blows her off while at the same time saying he doesn’t want her to be in such a hurry to grow up. It’s sweet, but creepy.

Watchlist: Monday, October 2, 2006

Just in case you weren’t sure, GMMR’s daily WATCHLIST is a sampling of what’s on TV for the night and NOT a list of all the shows I’ll be watching. Because really, “The Carters”? Yeah, that’s not happening. Just wanted to clear that up. Enjoy!

The Bachelor: Rome – Season Premiere
The ninth season opens with Prince Lorenzo Borghese, a 34-year-old Italian aristocrat who has lived in the U.S. since he was 5, meeting the 27 women he’ll consider to be his bride. Two of them are Italian crashers at the opening party.

How I Met Your Mother – Brunch
Ted flies his parents (Michael Gross, Cristine Rose) to New York to celebrate their 30th anniversary and meet Robin, but a brunch outing proves disastrous when Ted learns something startling about his mom and dad.

Welcome Back Carter – Series Premiere
Debut: Pop star Nick Carter gathers his siblings to live together in Los Angeles and fix their family relationship. In the opener, Nick uses his return to L.A. to record an album as an opportunity to reunite with his younger brother and sisters.

Prison Break – Buried
SPOILER ALERT!! Sucre holds Jeanette Owens and her policewoman daughter hostage as the dig for Westmoreland’s loot continues under the women’s garage; Mahone gets someone new to interrogate.

Grey’s Anatomy Izzie may be busying baking muffins and grieving over Dying Dead Denny, but Katherine Heigl looks like she is having the time of her life basking poolside with her fiance, Josh Kelley.

McSteamy Joins McCast

Shonda Rhimes certaintly has the monopoly on hot men. After a, um, hmmm…dramatic entrance in the final seconds of last week’s show, it appears that McSteamy (the man formerly known as Eric Dane), will be staying around Grey’s Anatomy for quite some time. Yes, Mark is back and he is now a series regular. Will he rival Alex for king badass or will he be another hapless, lovelorn surgeon at Seatlle Grace? Let’s hope a little bit of both.
