All I Want For Christmas is…

It’s the day after Thanksgiving, so I guess it’s officially the start of the Christmas season (at least in my little corner of the world). What are you asking Santa for this holiday season? Have you been naughty, nice or perhaps a little bit of both? I figure I might as well start my Christmas wish list today. And I think we all know by now what’s first on my list (after world peace, of course).

Awhile back I posted some adorable pictures of Grey’s Anatomy star TR Knight on “Sesame Street”. The episode has now aired and it’s up on YouTube.com (of course it is). Check out Dr. George O’Malley in his new gig as Private “I”. It’s actually quite adorable.

Veronica Mars Recap and Contest!!!

So it’s become tougher and tougher for me to find the time to write show recaps. It bums me out more than you know. Lucky for me, and you, GMMR has some ridiculously superb recappers who have been kind enough to take on the shows for me.
Such is the case with this week’s episode of Veronica Mars, which I got around to watching around 1am this morning. Julie, a VM mega fan, sent along her take on last night’s episode. And in honor of Julie’s always fantastic recaps, we are going to have a little VM giveaway.
Prize: Any one “Veronica Mars” item from the GMMR Store
To enter:
(Step 1) Leave a comment on this post and share your thoughts on what you think of Veronica Mars so far this season (you hating it, loving it, loving LoVe, loving Piz?…anything)
(Step 2) Head over to TV and Sympathy and find out the title of Julie’s post from 10/24/06 (the day she met her TV boyfriend Jason Dohring)(Step 3) Email me (info[at]givememyremote[dot]com, Subject line: VM CONTEST) the title of Julie’s 10/24 post. Don’t forget to leave a comment first.
I’ll randomly choose a winner among all the correct entries. The winner will then be able to choose a Veronica Mars related item from the GMMR Store and I will send it along. Here’s are what you have to choose from:
Ok, now on to Julie’s recap….
Title: “Lord of the Pi’s”
Original Airdate: 11/21/06
After two truly stellar episodes, it’s pretty disappointing to see such a flat showing with this week’s episode, “Lord of the Pi’s”, particularly since it was scribed by one of my favorite Veronica Mars writers, Diane Ruggiero. Still, I felt better watching last night’s poor episode knowing that the show is already secure with its full season order.
Even so, let’s break it down. What did we learn?
Picking up from last week, we find that Logan and Veronica are still quarreling. Did she suffer amnesia and forget how he totally loved and cared for her last week? Because if so, BOO. He wants her to back away from the rape case to avoid getting hurt; she doesn’t want to listen. Guess who wins? If you guess that Logan hires someone to follow V around and protect her, you’d be right.
House Recap: “Whac-a-mole”

Title: Whac-a-mole
Original Airdate: 11/21/06
Packs of wild, screaming kids sure are a scary. Having to placate and control said kids in a Chuck-E-Cheese type venue? Even scarier. It’s enough to make one want to vomit – repeatedly. And that’s exactly what one teenage employee does during a very nausea-inducing little boy birthday party celebration. This teenager, played by guest star Patrick Fugit (aka Cameron Crowe’s not-so-fictional teenage version of himself in “Almost Famous”), then starts having a heart-attack after all the vomiting. Yikes! Obviously, this is a job for The House Team (as if that was ever in doubt…).
I have to say, it’s good to see indie-movie actor Patrick Fugit on a popular show like House. The guy has definitely got talent, so I think it’s great that he’ll be seen by a broader audience than usual. And he certainly has a meaty role here to sink his teeth into. After the heart-attack, we soon learn that his character is an 18-year old orphan whose parents recently died, and who now is the sole caretaker for his younger siblings: an 11-year old girl and an 8-year old boy. Ouch. Plus, now he has this mysterious illness that is alternately causing him to vomit profusely, seizure, choke, and get heart attacks. He even bleeds through his ear and nose and IV-poked arm at one point. Yeesh. Poor kid just can’t seem to catch a break – and neither can his siblings, who are still hurting over their parents’ recent deaths. One would think such a tragic story would melt even House’s bitter, sarcastic, misanthropic heart…
Gilmore Girls Recap: “Introducing Lorelai Planetarium “

Title: “Introducing Lorelai Planetarium”
Original Airedate: 11/21/06
Early in the morning and Lorelai is on the phone leaving Rory a message to please call her, STASAP (Sooner Then As Soon As Possible). She wants to see Rory that very day and man does she seem anxious. Chris hands over coffee and insists Rory will call her when she wakes up. In the living room Chris starts talking of ways to redecorate the house, something about waterfalls, reclining chairs and giant flat screen TV’s. His wife (can you believe I am writing that?) is appalled but soon realizes he’s kidding. Sneaky Chris admits it, well except for the flat screen TV thing. He’s down with living in Star’s Hollow and the whole small town deal but he wont compromise on the TV. Hard to believe Lor, lover of the all powerful boob tube, doesn’t want one. I would sell my soul for a shiny LCD TV. Okay not my soul, but I hear kidneys can get you top dollar, and I have two of those.
Rory calls, finally awake after avoiding her mothers phone calls since 5am. She wants to know how her parents trip went but Lor promises she’ll tell her everything when she comes over that night. Too bad Rory can’t make it since she has a study group. Her mother makes up a story about French snails for dinner and plainly guilt’s her daughter into coming over. I want to become a mother simply for that power. After hanging up the phone Chris is excited to tell their daughter about the marriage but Lor thinks maybe she should talk to Rory alone at first. Chris points out they agreed to tell her together and Lor knows he’s right; she’s just so used to it being just her and Rory. Lor will just feel better once Rory knows and Chris is certain that she’ll be happy. Which of course has to mean that she won’t be.
Beyonce Sings “Listen” from Dreamgirls on Oprah

Every once in a while I come across videos that I am just utterly compelled to share because it just wouldn’t be fair to keep it to myself. Well, here’s an example of one of those moments.
Yesterday, Oprah hosted the cast of the upcoming movie Dreamgirls, including Beyonce, Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Hudson. I have heard nothing but fantastic reviews from those who have seen it, and I am counting down the days until it opens, because I will be there on opening night. Yes, it Christmas but who cares – I’m there.
Towards the end of the show, Beyone performed a song from the movie entitled “Listen”. Now I enjoy Beyonce just as much as everyone else. She is gorgeous and talented – no doubt about it. But this performance? Well this one just blew the lid off anything I have ever heard this woman sing before. I had goosebumps from beginning to end. I wanted to share it with all of you…I really hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I’m not sure the youtube video does it justice, but it sounded simply exquisite on Oprah.

Oh, and since we have to bring everything back to TV around here…here’s the connections.
(1) This clip was from Oprah (d’uh)
(2) Dreamgirls star, Jennifer Hudson, was a finalist on American Idol (another TV connection)
(3) Guess who has a cameo in Dreamgirls? Yup, John Krasinski (but I’d see it on opening day regardless)
Dwight and Angela (Dwangela) in TV Guide

Filed under Angela Kinsey, Dwight Schrute, Rainn Wilson, The Office, TV News
This week’s TV Guide features an interview with The Office’s other most talked about couple – Dwight and Angela, or Dwangela as they are known to Officianados. Definitely pick up this week’s TV Guide on newsstands this week. But if the holidays are keeping you away from the stores, fear not – here’s the interview.
So how did this bobble-headed romance first ignite between Dwight and Angela?
Rainn Wilson (RW): They both have an obsession for structure and discipline, and I imagine there was some incident at the copy maching that first brought their eyes together, like someone putting legal-size paper in the letter-size drawer.
How long can they keep their boss, Michael out of their business?
Angela Kinsey (AK): There are going to be some real pressure moments coming up, especially for Angela. She thinks Michael’s an idiot, but Dwight respects the guy, which means Michael’s the biggest challenge to the relationship. i like to think of him as the other woman. How do you picture them spending a romantic night out in Scranton?
AK: I have a feeling they’d go to Dwight’s place, since Angela’s apartment is probably full of cats. Then Dwight would get her hot by making her watch Star Trek or Battlestar Galactica.
RW: I imagine Angela watching Dwight from the shadows as he plays paintballWhat sort of sex life do you think they have?
RW: Way hot! I bet Angela wears a cheerleader’s out fit under her austere raincoat. Because of her over-the-top sense of morality, the probably do not have actual sex, but I’m guessing they do everything but. I bet those two are just noshing on each other all the time.
AK: I imagine they have a bit of a kinky thing going on since they both enjoy being yelled at. Angela loves that her man is a baron with a clipboard. How on earth can you play these characters without cracking up all the time?
AK: I collapse into laughter at least once a day, and I’m talking about the ugly laugh where you’re laughing so hard you start snorting. Usually it’s when we’re doing the conference room scenes and we’re all wedged into the room together. After 12 hours of shooting in a tuny space, you just lose it completely.
RW: There was this scene where Dwight was injured and lost his marbles. he came in and patted angela on the butt. The whole thing just cracked us up because every take Dwight would pat her butt in some new way, and it all just seemed so….weird.Where is this relationship headed? Will they ever come out of the cubicle with this affair?
AK: I’d love to see them keep it secret as long as possible. the longer it goes, the more delicious it gets and the more stupid it makes Michael look.
RW: I’d like them to have a shot at a breakup. Perhaps there’d be some misunderstanding over a stapler or something. They’d both play the field for a while only to discover they were made for each other. in the end, they’d come running back to each other in slow motion with that Peaches & Herb song “Reunited” playing in the background.Source: TV Guide. Look for it on newsstands soon. The all new TV Guide is seriously a must read for TV addicts like us.
Gay, Straight or Taken

I might not be Jeopardy material but I know my gay men. That is why I am completely excited for Lifetime’s new dating/game show Gay, Straight or Taken. The premise? One woman goes on dates with three men – one gay, one straight and one taken. Her goal is to pick the straight guy out of the crowd (a goal I strive for everyday in my personal life). If she wins and picks the straight guy she wins some prize. If she loses, the man she picks receives the winnings. But, think about it this way, if she picks the wrong guy she might end up with a new gay friend…so it’s a win-win-win situation.
Gay, Straight or Taken will premiere on January 8th and is set for 18 half hour episodes (but I’m not betting the farm on this one lasting 18 eps)

Title: “Slap Bet”
Original Air Date: November 20, 2006
One of the HIMYM gang has a secret that has been hidden for the entire time they have been friends. What is it? That is anyone’s guess. Of course, it was open to much speculation.
The speculation led to one of the best episodes of the year. It led to the nicknaming of another of our favorite people.
It all begins with Barney’s excitement with the grand opening of a new Sharper Image down at the mall. He wants the gang to join him and said he’ll buy everyone something if they go along. And then, you hear things come to a screeching halt. Robin refuses to go to the mall with them. It comes out that Robin refuses to go to malls and even at everyone else’s insisting, Robin says she’d rather just not talk about it. Begin speculation!
Barney thinks he has the answer. Porn!
Ted: You know?
Barney: Of course I know. She couldn’t look at us, her face got flushed, that’s shame my friend. Our friend Robin used to do porn-wait for it-ography.

In case any of you were wondering how I would be spending my holiday downtime…well here you go!!! Starting TODAY,as in right now, Arrested Development will be streamed online on MSN Video for FREE!!
If you’ve never watched Arrested Development this is a MUST MUST MUST see TV show. One of the BEST comedies of all time. No question about it. So enough from me, here’s what you need to know to start watching.
The first five episodes of Arrested Development are available today at http://arresteddevelopment.msn.com and, starting Dec. 15, three new episodes will be added every three weeks. All 53 episodes from the three seasons of the show will be rolled out within the next year.
Arrested Development ran for three years on FOX and was one of the most celebrated comedies in the network’s history. It revolves around Michael Bluth (Jason Bateman), who is doing his best to pick up the pieces and keep his offbeat family from falling apart after his father, George Bluth (Jeffrey Tambor), is locked up for fraud. Arrested Development content on MSN will be available at http://arresteddevelopment.msn.com . Currently this content is only available to U.S. viewers.
“We’re thrilled to present this critically acclaimed show to the MSN audience along with exclusive online content for the ultimate ‘Arrested Development’ fans,” said Rob Bennett, general manager of Entertainment and Video Services for MSN. “We’ve created a number of innovative new features to enhance the video experience for ‘Arrested Development,’ and will lead the industry in improving the overall experience for watching long-form video content online.”
Future additional content will include deleted scenes, blooper reels and related DVD content. Interactive features such as message boards, cast information, fan areas, blogging helpers, and subscription options for newsletters and RSS feeds will collectively provide a deeper community experience for fans of the show.
The “Arrested Development” episodes will be running with a new MSN Video player designed to create a better viewing experience of long-form video. The new playback experience will set the standard for future long-form content available on MSN Video, and will include added functionality. The player provides viewers with many options to return to an episode they were watching if there is an interruption by automatically finding the last position in the episode before the interruption, and also at any time allowing the user to jump back 15 seconds. In addition, viewers have the ability to send a link of their favorite moment within an episode to their friends. The player can also present the show in a larger “sit-back” view with great quality and will still allow viewers to see their task bar to keep an eye on e-mail and instant messages.

Prison Break Recap: “Disconnect”

Poor Michelle had a little hiccup with her power last night and wasn’t able to record, and therefore recap last night’s episode of Prison Break. By the time I found out, I had already deleted it from my Tivo. But I know you need your Prison Break fix, so I’m gonna do this one from memory. If I missed something here or there, please forgive me. But I have to say, I’m relatively pleased with myself for remembering so much.
Title: “Disconnect”
Original Airdate: 11/20/06
Michael, Linc, Surce and Michael/Linc’s father (Aldo), are running to catch the plane to bring them to Panama. But first Michael and his Pops have a little unfinished business. As you may recall from last week’s episode, Michael wasn’t too thrilled to see his Daddy, but did claim to have seen him before – which was news to Lincoln. As it turns out, after their mother died, Lincoln spent some time in juvy and a young Michael was put into the foster care system. Unfortunately he was placed with an abusive man who locked Michael in a closet 24/7 and only let him out when he felt like kicking the crap out of him. Aw, poor little Mikey. One day the closet door opened and instead of getting hit, Michael was getting helped…by his real father. But all wasn’t hugs and kisses as a young Michael was ushered out past his brutally murdered foster father. Michael still has some unresolved issues with his real father and about being exposed to death that early in life. Yeah, we knew Michael had some issues…and many more we have yet to find out about.
The family reunion is cut short when Mahone catches up with the guys in the middle of the desert (yeah, right). They run for the car, and in the process Dear Old Dad gets shot and is killed. He managed to hang on long enough to make amends to his boys and to illicit some tears from Michael – not that it takes much these days to get Scofield crying. I don’t know if it’s PMS or what, but the boy won’t stop boo hoo’ing. I found it endearing at first, but now I just want to smack him upside the head and yell “Man up dude”!

Good, no, fantastic news for fans of Prison Break. Fox has announced that Prison Break will return from its fall hiatus much sooner than expected. Next week marks Prison Break’s fall finale, and the show wasn’t set to return until March, but the kind people over at Fox have decided to bring the show back on January 22nd (with a season 2 recap special to boot). Yay! I was wondering how long I could last without seeing Wenty!!
Battlestar Galactica Moving to Sundays
November 21, 2006 by Kath Skerry
This falls into the category of “News that GMMR is simply ecstatic about!”. Ever since Grey’s Anatomy moved to Thursdays and Desperate Housewives started to blow, I have really, really missed my Sunday night television. At the end of a long weekend, when I’m fighting off the last remnants of my hangover from Saturday night, I like to unwind with some good quality TV. But this season Sunday has been a big let down. But oh how THAT is about to change.
In a move that thrills me to no end, Battlestar Galactica is moving to Sunday nights at 10pm starting on January 21st. Yay! Sunday night TV is back!!
I was a latecomer to BSG. This is actually my very first season watching the show. I had heard how amazing the show was but I was hesitant to not only take on another show (I mean really..my eyes may just fall out of my head at this point), but I was also weary of a Sci Fi. I’ve never been a Sci Fi chick in my life. At the urging of Ducky, I gave in and gave a looksy to Battlestar Galactica: The Story So Far (which is available for FREE on iTunes) and I was immediately hooked. The characters, story and plot are simply the deepest and most complex in all of television. You don’t watch BSG – you experience it.
If you are looking for good Sunday night TV this January, then use the time between then and now to invest in Battlestar Galactica. If you don’t have the time to watch the first three seasons on DVD then just start with “The Story so Far” and then check out the nine episodes that have aired thus far this season (all of which are available via iTunes). It’s worth it. And I promise to hold your hand as you get caught up, just as Ducky did mine. There will be questions, but I think you will catch on easy enough and before you know it, find yourself totally engrossed in the world of Cylons, Humans and well, Lee Adama. (Oh, and as an added bonus, you will FINALLY understand all those BSG references on The Office and Gilmore Girls).
