Deep Thoughts by Meredith Grey

GMMR’s buddies over at BuddyTV.com have compiled “some quotes from Grey’s Anatomy’s most prolific purveyor of amateur wisdom, Meredith Grey.” Here’s a few of my favorites. Click here to read more from Ms. Grey.
On Communication:
Communication. It’s the first thing we really learn in life. Funny thing is, once we grow up, learn our words and really start talking the harder it becomes to know what to say. Or how to ask for what we really need.On Effective Denial:
The key to surviving a surgical internship is denial. We deny that we’re tired, we deny that we’re scared, we deny how badly we want to succeed. And most importantly, we deny that we’re in denial. We only see what we want to see and believe what we want to believe, and it works. We lie to ourselves so much that after a while the lies start to seem like the truth. We deny so much that we can’t recognize the truth right in front of our faces. On Growing Up:
I’ve heard that it’s possible to grow up – I’ve just never met anyone who’s actually done it. Without parents to defy, we break the rules we make for ourselves. We throw tantrums when things don’t go our way, we whisper secrets with our best friends in the dark, we look for comfort where we can find it, and we hope – against all logic, against all experience. Like children, we never give up hope.
Office Thursday on Give Me My Remote (UPDATED)

This whole week has been one big Office Thursday on Give Me My Remote. There’s been so much Office news swirling around, and I’ve been trying to keep it all in check for Office Thursday, but it’s been tough. But as always, here’s the lastest happening in the word of Dunder Mifflin.
Check back throughout the day as more news trickles in.
Supersize me Baby…
Tonight we get another supsersized episode of The Office. And much like the last time we supersized, the writers don’t disappoint. So by now I think most of you know what’s going down on “The Merger”. The Stamford employees are merging with the Scranton branch, and they get their first taste of Michael Scott. Jim and Pam lay eyes on each other for the first time since Casino Night, and well…it’s great to see these two in the same office again.
Clips from tonight’s show are available at Yahoo! TV and TVGuide.com. But I think you should summon all your strength and try to hold out for a few more hours. I know, I know, it’s tough, but just think…it will make watching the show that much more fun.
I was lucky enough to get an advanced screener this week, so click here for my take on “The Merger”.
LIVE “Office” Chat TONIGHT…
As always, I will be hosting a LIVE Office chat over at BuddyTV.com for those of us on the East Coast. Log on and watch the show with other Officianados. Believe me, it’s so much more fun to watch the show with other Office addicts. And when we are done watching the show, we’re all going to head over to NBC.com to hang with Jenna Fischer! (Schedule BuddyTV chat reminder)
Blogging with Jenna Fischer…
Jenna Fischer knows how to blog. She does it all the time on MySpace. But tonight she’s going to change it up a bit and live blog over at NBC.com right after the East Coast airing of The Office. Make sure you jump online around 9:20/8:20c (that’s 6:20pm for you left coast kids) and chat with Fancy New Beesly. The NBC live blogging events tend to be a little crazy, so be patient with Jenna as I’m sure she is going to get to as many questions as she can. (The Office at NBC.com)
And now a word from Kate Flannery…
Our favorite drunken red-head is back with another installment of her weekly Office blog. Get the inside scoop on The Merger, and find out which famous star was awestruck meeting Kate? (Kate’s Blog)
The Men of The Office are Taking on The World…
And I for one am not complaining. Seems at the Scranton boys are everywhere these days. In case you missed it, check it out: The Men of The Office in GQ; John Krasinski in People Magazine, Rainn Wilson on the cover of Geek Magazine, John Krasinski and The Shins in Filter Magazine. Our boys are blowing up big time! But let’s face it…as much as we love John, BJ and Rainn where are our other men? Roy, Kevin, Stanley, Creed, Toby…come on – we are equal opportunity Dunder Mifflinites!
John Krasinski in NYC Tonight…
JKras will be taking part in a Jest Fest 06, a celebration of the 10th Anniversary of David Foster Wallace’s INFINITE JEST at the Used Book Cafe in NYC tonight. Krasinski will be joined by Todd Hanson (The Onion), Lev Grossman (Time Magazine), and Laura Miller (Salon) in reading from and talking about the book. Audience participation strongly encouraged! And ladies, try to keep your inner fangirls in control tonight. Oh, and if you are going and want to take pics for GMMR I’d love it!
Mindy & Angela Chit Chat…
Mindy Kaling and Angela Kinsey were out working hard to promote the show this week. The spent last Tuesday doing a bunch of interviews for NBC. Check out this clip from an interview they did with an NBC affiliate in Dallas. And can I just say that I am always floored at how different these ladies look in real life?! Smokin’ ladies…smokin’. And on that note, I also find it interesting how they alter their voices so much to fit with their character. Mindy Kaling certaintly doesn’t have the Kelly Kappor shrill that we are used to, and Angela’s Texas accent just wouldn’t work for Ms. Martin.
Jenna and James on LoveLine…
Jenna Fischer and her red hot, red hat wearing husband James Gunn were guest on last night’s Loveline. Did anyone catch it? I’m sure it was some pretty funny stuff. Hopefully the show will be posted on the Loveline website over the next few days. Make sure to check back in a few days to see listen.
UPDATE: GMMR’s friends over at TV with MeeVee scored a short interview with Brian Baumgartner!! Yay…you know how I love Kevin!! Brian gives mad love to the websites that are dedicated to the show – he definitely appreciates the fans, and we appreciate him.
Show Your Office Love…
A few new Office-inspired t-shirts and more have been added to the GMMR Store. By popular demand I’ve added not one by TWO “Here Comes Treble” designs for all you Andy lovers out there. And give Mr. Halpert a lending hand by letting him you know who he should give his heart too…are you on Team Karen or Team Pam (and I threw in a Team Beesly one in there too). Me? I’m on Team Halpert (but I think you know where my loyalties lie)
Emmit Smith is “Dancing with the Stars” Champ
November 16, 2006 by Kath Skerry
Last year I was really into Dancing with the Stars, but this year my obsession with So You Think You Can Dance completely ruined the celeb two-step show for me. Sorry, but these people aren’t really great dancers, and I couldn’t watch them struggle through it all. I guess one dance show a season is enough for me.
That being said, I know many of you were really into Dancing with the Stars this season. So by now you may have heard that last night, former NFL great Emmitt Smith was named the DwTS champion. Smith’s slick moves beat out Mario Lopez’s more polished style. It was close right up until the end, with the two men and their partners receiving identical scores on the last night of voting. But in the end it was Emmitt who walked danced away victorious.
But there is a little bit of controversy brewing this morning. Some are speculating that show was just a wee bit fixed. Lopez has been the subject of criticism after it was announced that maybe he wasn’t a true amateur dancer after all, and had been taking lessons for years. Lopez claims that to be rubbish and said that he did indeed take dance classes, but he was around 10 years old at the time and his mother forced him into it. But that’s not the only rumblings we are hearing. Lopez informed the producer’s of the show that due to other commitments he would not be participating in the Dancing with the Stars Tour that will be kicking off in the near future. Could they really have a tour without the winner? It’s a little suspect.
Speaking of the Dancing with the Stars Tour, it seems that contestants from other seasons will be participating as well. Emmitt Smith’s dance partner Cheryl Burke will be cha cha cha’ing with this year’s champ and last year’s winner, Drew Lachey. Now seeing Drew Lachey shimmy again is something I could get behind. Man…that Paso Doble to Thriller..wow!

30 Rock – Jack-Tor

Grey’s Anatomy – Staring at the Sun

Ugly Betty – Four Thanksgivings and a Funeral
Martha Stewart has a cameo as the Mode staff marks Thanksgiving in different ways, including Daniel’s ulterior motive for attending his parents’ brunch and Wilhelmina’s first attempt at cooking a turkey.
My Name is Earl – Robbed a Stoner Blind (SUPERSIZED)
Earl and Randy repay a debt to a nonmaterialistic hippie (Christian Slater) by spending a week at the totally self-sufficient, environmentally friendly commune where he lives, an experience that opens Earl’s eyes to global warming.
SUPERSIZED episode! Starts at 8/7c and ends around 8:35/7:35c (and I say about because who knows)
The Office – The Merger (SUPERSIZED)
The Scranton branch faces a surprising merger, which forces the staffers to cope with a variety of significant changes.
SUPERSIZED episode! Starts about 8:36/7:36c and ends around 9:20/8:20cc (I think)

COWORKERS OF THE YEAR
“Boss Steve Carell may hog The Office’s spotlight, but it’s his watercooler underlings who do all the heavy lifting in TV’s best comedy. If only B.J. Novak, Rainn Wilson, and John Krasinski dressed like this more often—they’d probably get promoted”
Click here for an AMAZING article about The Men of The Office in this month’s GQ. And check out these pictures…sigh.
Ok, I’d like to say I’m sorry for all The Office/Krasinski-related posts as of late, but I’m really not that sorry. It’s been a stressful couple of days for me. Some people turn to booze, some people turn to drugs, and me? Well I have JKras. And until someone starts paying me money to write this blog, I’m going to post what I please. And be warned…more Office gossip is coming your way tomorrow. It is Office Thursday after all.

Gilmore Girls Recap: “French Twist”

Lorelai and Christopher are getting ready to head to the airport. Paris here we come! Gigi, child out of wedlock # 2 for Chris, is looking A LOT older then when we saw her last. Either way Lor is explaining how great Paris is to Gigi, while Chris is trying to carry their luggage. Lorelai seems confused as to what time their plane is leaving, and Chris keeps side stepping the question. It’s not till they’re in the car ready to go that we find out that the plane doesn’t take off for another 3 hours. Oh Chris, you’re so sneaky.
At the Yale Daily News everyone’s drinking champagne and toasting Rory. Why? She’s no longer Editor. Why? I have no idea, something about her stepping down. Everyone loves Rory so they give her presents and tell Rory stories. One girl even says she joined the paper to meet “cute guys” but Rory inspired her to become a journalist. I’m sure that the fact that no cute guys actually work at the paper had something to do with that. Once Paris starts talking about her own editor days everyone decides to head out and get some drinks. Rory isn’t going along, not wanting to rain on the new editor’s parade. Instead she stays in the office alone looking around at the place she used to rein.
House Recap: “Son of a Coma Guy”

Title: Son of a Coma Guy
Original Airdate: 11/14/06
The House writers sure seem to have a thing for classic songs from the 20th Century American songbook – what with naming last week’s episode “Que Sera Sera”, and now with the title of this week’s episode, which is an obvious reference to the classic Aretha Franklin song, “Son of a Preacher Man”. What classic song would I like to see them reference next? Hm, how about “If You’re Happy and You Know It (clap your hands!)” That would sure make for one ironic episode of House! But as usual, I digress.
Anyhoo, on to the recap. So we begin the episode with Wilson finding House eating his lunch amongst a bunch of coma patients – which, frankly, isn’t really strange behavior for a messed up, anti-social healer like House, despite what Wilson says. But right now, Wilson is more interested in confronting/yelling at House for forging prescriptions using Wilson’s pad and thus forcing the man to lie to scary cop David Morse. But as usual, House has no intention of apologizing – his only concern is that Wilson lied successfully, and thus saved House from jail. Speaking of saving, when the son of a coma guy (tee hee) in the room walks in, House promptly starts flashing the room lights on and off in order to cause this young man to start seizuring – in order to save him, of course. Turns out House had been watching this kid for a little while and, using his mystical House-powers of observation, had realized that this kid was ill and needed help. See Wilson, House has premeditated and oddly altruistic reasons for all the strange things he does – except, of course, for the painkiller addiction and forging signatures part. Right… Read more
People Magazine says that TV Stars are Sexy

In all my excitement about John Krasinksi (my #1 TV boyfriend) being named all kinds of sexy by the People, I failed to mention the other HOT HOT HOT men of TV who also got nods. Stars from the small screen were really well represented in this year’s 15 Hottest Men in Hollywood.
Patrick Dempsey (Grey’s Anatomy), Taye Diggs (Day Break), Josh Duhamel (Las Vegas), Enrique Murciano (Without a Trace), Rodrigo Santoro (Lost), Omar Epps (House), Eric Mabius (Ugly Betty), and once more…just because I can… John Krasinski (The Office)
As we here at GMMR know all too well, there are some men who we just can’t stop talking about online. Check out the TV stars who were honored as The Internet’s Sexiest Guys by People Magazine.
Jamie Bamber (Battlestar Galactica), Matt Dallas (Kyle XY), Wentworth Miller (Prison Break), Dylan Walsh (Nip/Tuck)
John Krasinski Named One of People’s Sexiest Men Alive
November 15, 2006 by Kath Skerry
Filed under Jim Halpert, John Krasinski, The Office, TV Boyfriends, TV News
George Clooney might have taken home the honors for 2006 Sexiest Man Alive, but People Magazine named The Office’s John Kraisinski as one of the 15 Hottest Men in Hollywood!!! Damn straight he is.
This isn’t the first time John has made People’s list. In 2005 he was named Sexiest Newcomer. But now he’s up there with the big boys – Clooney, McDreamy, DiCaprio, Pitt, Gyllenhaal, and Krasinski. Just as it should be. And the way People has the top 15 men listed on their site, dare I say that John comes well before Brad Pitt. Nice!!
So why does People Magazine think John is so sexy? (Besides the hair, the eyes, the voice, the lankiness)?
Why He’s Sexy: He’s a real-life cut up. “Being funny is one of my greatest strengths. I can make girls smile when they’re down, and when we’re having a good time, I can carry on the joke.”
Last year, I asked John about the grief he caught from being featured in the 2005 issue.
HAHAHA!!! How did you know? It was the most amazing transformation in my friends. At first, they were just plain happy for me. I have the most unbelievably supportive group of friends. Then, once the cat was out of the bag, the hits started coming. And in the most hilarious ways too. Always subtle. (Playing basketball) “Ok, next point wins. You need a touch up on your makeup before we play?” (At a bar, when there is a huge crowd waiting for a drink) “Wow, I thought the bartender would have seen you’re sexiness and come over by now. Looks like you have a ways to go.”
I’m sure somewhere in NYC, John Krasinski is blushing right now. But for those of us who discovered John a loooooong time ago – it’s about time! And John, if you are reading this, um, I’m feeling a bit down today, so if you feel the need to make me smile…you know how to reach me
The Office: The Merger – GMMR Sneak Peek

This post contains spoilers for this week’s episode of The Office. Read at your own risk.
Remember on “Lost” when they met The Others?
Every week I wait in giddy anticipation for a new episode of The Office. But this week is going to be a little different. See I’ve managed to snag an advanced screener of this week’s supersized ep, “The Merger”. Don’t get me wrong, I will still be looking forward to Thursday, but mostly because I can’t wait to talk to all of you about the episode. It’s a good one, dare I say perhaps one of the best ever. “The Merger” is JAM packed with everything we love about The Office.
This week’s episode focuses on the merger of the Stamford and Scranton branches of Dunder Mifflin. Michael Scott is overly excited about the new people joining the branch. Of course it has less to do with building Dunder Mifflin than it does with the fact that Michael will have a fresh new audience for his antics, and perhaps a few new friends.
Michael pulls out all the stops to properly welcome the new Stamford employees. Gift bags, a breakfast buffet, and even one of his signature homemade movies…Great Scott!! But despite his efforts (or rather because of) the new and old employees aren’t coming together as harmoniously as Michael had hoped. “The word merger comes from the word marriage and that was what today was supposed to be – the loving union between people,” Scott says. “Instead it has been like when my mom moved in with Jeff, and once again, it’s my job to fix it.” And let’s just say we all know the potential for disaster when Michael tries to fix a problem.
The merging of Stamford and Scranton also means that fans get what they finally have been waiting for all season – two people in the same room, at the same time, for the very first time this season. From the moment they locked eyes the swell of emotion emanated from the screen. It was electric. And it most definitely laid the ground work for perhaps one of the best triangles in the history of television. Yes, in this week’s episode Andy and Dwight meet for the first time. The Assistant Regional Manager (Dwight) and the Regional Director of Sales (Andy) waste no time in trying to establish just who is going to be Michael Scott’s #2 guy. Dwight’s old tactics of sucking up might not hold up against Andy’s devious charms. Andy Bernard knows how to win people’s affections, and perhaps Dwight’s relationship with Michael isn’t his only relationship in jeopardy. Their interplay is genius and had me in tears.
I suppose a few of you out there may be interested in the “other” reunion this week – that of Jim and Pam. Let me first just say that it was a beautiful thing watching Jim Halpert walk through the front door of the Scranton office. It’s so good to have him back where he belongs. And I’m not the only one who thinks so. Pam is elated to have her “friend” back, and he seems equally excited to see her as well. Not to say that there isn’t more than a hint of awkwardness in their exchanges. There are many things that have yet to be said, and the tension, be it sexual or otherwise, is palpable. But just seeing Jim and Pam on screen together made me feel that all is right with the world.
Lest we not forget that the merger also brings the presence of one Ms. Karen Filipelli. A woman who is bound to have an impact on Jim and Pam’s relationship, right?. But what is really going on with Karen and Jim? Pam isn’t quite sure, but she is definitely picking up a vibe, and it definitely takes the air of of her big reunion with Jim. Did Pam blow it completely when she let Jim walk away all those months ago? We’ll see. I want to be careful not to give away any big spoilers, but I will give you this – the Dunder Mifflin parking lot is once again the backdrop to an important revelation that impacts Jim and Pam’s future.
Ok, ok I feel like I am just being cruel now so I’m going to wrap it up. I can’t wait to hear from all of you during and after the show on Thursday. I know you all are going to love it as much as I did. A note of warning…have some tissues handy – seriously, I was laughing so hard I could hardly see the screen through the tears. Two words for you: (1) Lazy, (2) Scranton. You’ll know what I mean.

Mohinder chants back in India as he puts his father’s ashes to rest in the ocean.
Isaac wakes feverishly with Eden pressing a cold cloth to his forehead. She says he’s had a rough couple of days, but he’ll be clean in no time, and he’ll still be able to paint the future. The drugs were just a facilitator; she’ll show him how to do it without that. She reassures him that the “mural on the floor – we’re not going to let that happen.” Why is she sure? Because she went through the same thing. As she walks out, we notice a new painting, a red-haired waitress carrying armfuls of plates.
Then we’re watching her in real life as she delivers food to a couple cop customers, who she helps with their crossword. One starts to ask her more trivia, and though the other says, “She’s not Google, Lloyd,” she gets it with no problem. Smarty-pants.
In the same diner, Hiro and Ando are taking a pit stop on the way to saving the cheerleader and the world. The waitress, Charlie, comes by to take their order and chats them up. She spots a phrase in Japanese on Hiro’s jacket and reads it: “I don’t belong here.” Girlfriend can read – and speak – Japanese, after studying for a week? I want her power.

When we last saw our favorite convicts, T-Bag was about to get re-captured by the cops, Sara was facing Kellerman’s gun, and we found out that there’s a mole in Linc’s dad’s gang of anti-government Robin Hoods. How will everyone wiggle out of these situations? (you have no doubt that they WILL escape, so the question is just HOW…)
THE COPS ARE CLOSING IN ON T-BAG! He’s cuffed to the radiator, his gross hand just begging to be ripped off and left behind. The cops bust through the door…and T-Bag is gone. Where is he? Well, you know that weird smell coming from your radiator when you first turn on the heat in the fall? Next time, better double check it, because you might just find…T-Bag’s rotting hand resting between the radiator and the wall. Yup, he managed to disconnect his hand from his body to save himself from going back to prison. Can’t say I blame him. In fact, I kind of admire him – in fact, I admire both T-Bag and that mountain climber who cut off his own limb to get out of the rock canyon alive. I’m pretty sure I would not be willing (or able) to amputate a body part to save myself.
Michael is in a hardware store buying a case of fishing reel oil in small vials, along with a GPS system. When he realizes he can’t pay for everything with the amount of cash he has, he decides to just buy the oil…and then steals the GPS system. When the store owner tries to stop him, Michael pushes him down and as the man begs for Michael not to hurt him, he runs from the store. Just when I’m thinking that our Fox River Golden Boy is turning bad, Michael has a crisis of conscience and begins thinking of all the people who have been wronged as the result of his escape plan…Sara, the people in the bank he “robbed,” his mail-order bride, Warden Pope. It’s all getting to be too much for him. He sees a church across the street and decides to take refuge and confess his sins.
“Grey’s Anatomy’s” Ellen Pompeo Engaged

In the end it wasn’t McDreamy, McSteamy, or McVet that captured the heart of Meredith Grey, but Ellen Pompeo’s real life beau, record producer Chris Ivery.
Ivery proposed this past Friday (which was also Ellen’s 37th birthday) and presented his lady with a 3.5-carat emerald cut diamond. Not too shabby. The couple have yet to set a wedding date. Give ’em time…it’s only been 4 days.
Did you know that these two kids is that they grew up minutes away from one another, but didn’t meet until they both descended upon LA years later? Yup, for you Bostonians, Ellen grew up in Everett, MA (one town over from where yours truly grew up) and Chris descended from Revere, MA – right next door to Everett (you might have heard of Revere – Kelly’s Roast Beef, Iroc’s with purple lights cruising up and down the strip). You gotta love that whole ‘fate’ thing.
Best of luck to the couple. And for the sake of Mr. Ivery, here’s to hoping that Ellen is not nearly as annoying as Meredith!
Prison Break Teasers

This post contains some minor spoilers for tonight’s Prison Break. Read at your own risk.
If you like your escaped convicts vulnerable, sappy and sweaty to the point that YOU need some cooling off then tonight’s Prison Break is definitely worth checking out (8/7c on FOX). Here’s a little teaser as to what goes down with the Fox River boys and their friends in tonight’s episode “Bolshoi Booze”.
The gravity of Michael’s wrong doings catch up to him and like many before him, he finds solace in a church confessional (insert way too easy Catholic priest joke here). Wenty shows he more than just a pretty handsome gorgeous awe inspiring face and pulls out some serious acting tonight. Tears and all. Actually, come to think of it, Wentworth has been doing a lot of boo hoo’ing as of late. It’s ok, it just shows he’s sensitive.
Lincoln and LJ make some serious decisions about their future together on the run after learning who is behind the plot to frame Lincoln.
Sarah really doesn’t have much to say about her future. She’s too busy just trying to stay alive from the torture inflicted at the hands of Kellerman.
Meanwhile, Mahone is getting himself deeper and deeper into this big C-O-N-spiracy with the President and her hoodlums (aka SD-6). Ever see a caged rat? Yeah, I’m pretty sure that’s what Mahone is feeling like these days.
And what’s going on with T-Bag? When we last saw him he was handcuffed to the radiator with the cops just outside the door. Well, if you really want to know what happened, then just take a look at the little present I received along with this week’s screener of Prison Break. Yeah, it’s not pretty.
Funny story actually – I got the screener in the mail right before I went to the airport on Friday. I didn’t open it, but rather threw it in my carry on and went on my merry way. Let’s just say that the airport security guys were justified in wanting me to open the package to inspect the contents. We all got a bit of a laugh from it. And to Brian and Sean who were sitting next to me on the plane…sorry for spoiling this week’s episode, but hey, you were the ones looking at my laptop.
Here’s a few visual aids to get your psyched for tonight’s episode:
Thanks to my buddy Jared at JustJared.com for the pics. He’s got even more pics from tonight’s episode, so make sure you head over there to check them out.
