Countdown to The Office: “The Merger”

It’s a looooong way until Thursday. Are you ready? Scranton and Stamford become one, and the reunion of Jim and Pam.  It’s almost too much to take.

P.S. Here’s a little something to lighten the mood.  Anything to get us through the next few days.

It’s a Big Day…

I’m catching up on weekend TV, and I wanted to let you all know that I just laughed out loud at an SNL sketch!!! That hasn’t happened in years, and I thought it was important that I pass it along.

Alec Baldwin used to annoy the hell out of me, but he was pretty good as this week’s host. So who would you like to see host SNL this season?

Here’s a few people I wouldn’t mind seeing taking a shot at their FIRST SNL hosting gig.

Battlestar Galactica: “A Measure of Salvation”

Title: “A Measure of Salvation”
Original Air Date: 10/10/06

Previously, Baltar reaches a new level of weasel by helping the Cylons look for Earth. The Cylons regret not taking their flu shots. Baltar accidentally on purpose doesn’t tell his new friends about the infected space trash. The humans find the lion’s head too.

Lion’s head. Apollo leads a team of raptors to check out the infected baseship. The marines make their way to the command center and find the dying Cylons all over the floor. Ignoring all signs of seriously bad mojo, Sharon decides to stick her hand in the dirty goo to talk to the computer. She tells them the computer is corrupted. Suddenly, a few of the Cylons start moving again. They form a weird circle on the floor. A sick Sharon calls Athena Sharon a traitor and then tells her about the infected beacon. Apollo and the others panic because now they’ve been exposed too.

41,420. Galactica. Doc Cottle tells Adama that they’ll have to quarantine the exposed marines. Doc wants a source of the disease so he can study it. Adama won’t let him bring the beacon on board, but they settle for some infected prisoners.

Baseship. Baltar is greeted by Xena Three and Caprica Six. They don’t take lying well. They grill him with questions about his motives. They believe he sent them there on purpose to kill them, like a mission from Galactica. Is it just me or does everyone put a little too much faith in Baltar’s abilities? He rambles off an apology. They call in Centurions anyways. In his imaginary world, FigmentSix joins him on the beach. Except this time, Baltar’s in pain. She tells him to separate his mind from his body. In reality, Xena Three is shocking him with electricity to get him to talk. Caprica Six watches and then walks away. Baltar says he loves her, but for the first time Caprica Six doesn’t take his word at face value.

Ugly Betty Recap

Title: “After Hours”
Original Air Date: 11/9/2006

Sodden Betty presents Daniel with a bagel at his desk. Why so wet? She was down in the MFY mag offices, getting Sonia to sign her copy of “Women Like It On Top”, when the fire sprinklers activated. She presents him with the news that a freelancer turned down the hotel review, but Daniel’s a bit distracted by Sonia and the MFY staff heading into the Mode conference room, since their offices are aquatically undesirable. They flirtily snark back and forth a bit.

Bradford, meanwhile, is asking Wilhelmina to meet with Ted Lebow, owner of a chain of Bow-mart superstores and a real Texan, who’s considering advertising with Mode. Wilhelmina is typically derisive but accepts: “I’ll charm the denim chaps right off him.” Saucy!

At Casa Suarez, Hilda explains to Ignacio that she knows where they can get the $5,000 to pay for Lawyer Debi. She suggests someone named “Santos”, but Ignacio is dead-set against him, not wanting a cent from “that degenerate”.

Sofia pops by Betty’s desk, with a non-waterlogged, signed copy of her book. She has an ulterior motive for popping by, wanting to get Betty’s “fresh eyes” on a piece she’s writing about sexaholics. Daniel, a bit jealous of Sofia’s interest in Betty, nips that in the bud and swipes Betty for some Very Important Tasks: dry-cleaning and office supply pick-up. He realizes he’s being dismissive (in a way that will be unattractive to Sofia), so he tells Betty she can try her hand at the hotel review.

Betty practically bounces. She’ll be staying free of charge at the posh hotel all weekend! What could be bad about that? Well, as she tells Christina, the fact that she was supposed to go to Atlantic City for a “romantic” weekend with Walter. (Um, Betty, you’re going with Walter. Do you remember Walter? Walter is the anti-romance. Walter destroys art. Walter destroys souls.)

Jenna Fischer on David Letterman

Well, I guess it’s Jenna Fischer day here on GiveMeMyRemote.com. For those of you who have asked, here is Jenna’s appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman last night. Enjoy!!
[gv data=”EPGQc_nXvlA”][/gv]

Jenna Fischer (2) Jenna Fischer

Jenna Fischer Rocks!

Jenna FischerIf you’ve read more than one word on Give Me My Remote, then you know that my love for all things The Office knows no bounds. The episodes, the writers, the cast, John the prop guy, Andrew (the cute guy in the Red Sox hat) – yes I love anything and everything having to do with this show. So you can imagine my excitement when I found out that I was going to be in the same room as Fancy New Beesly herself, Jenna Fischer!!!

Yesterday morning, I had the opportunity to attend the taping of The Rachel Ray Show where Jenna was the celebrity guest. Fellow GMMRer, Geek Cheek, and I met up at the studio around 8:45am and were quickly ushered inside as we were on the VIP list (yeah, that’s how I roll). As it turns out, VIP status meant nothing other than walking into the studio early. There was quite a buzz in the holding room where the audience sits prior to entering the actual sound stage. Seems that these people were really excited to see Rachel Ray. Um, hello…did they NOT know that Jenna Fischer was there?!

RC SmithOnce in the studio, we were whipped into a frenzy by the the audience warm up guy, RC Smith (who I promised a big shout out on GMMR since he plugged my site about 100 times to the Rachel Ray audience – thanks buddy). RC was funny guy with fab hair who kept us entertained and clapping throughout the morning. RC was giving us some info about the day’s taping and at one point both Geek Cheek and I thought he said something about today’s celeb guest not being able to make it. Needless to say I was devastated. I figured this was my one shot at meeting Jenna (well until NBC lets GMMR do a set visit…I mean if they let those Netscape guys in and Boaz you would think I could get a shot, right?). Anyway, as it turned out, Jenna was just running late but she would be there. Phew!

Rachel Ray, who might be one of the most adorable chicks on the planet, did some cute segments and then….Jenna!! Yay!! Ms. Fischer strutted out looking smokin’ hot carrying the Cupcake Courier!! Of course. Actually Geek Cheek and I were hoping she would bring it. Jenna and Rachel chatted for a few about cupcakes, and when Jim and Pam would just get it on on the Xerox machine (Rachel’s request not mine…although I do concur). Once they were done chatting, we were informed that Jenna would be sticking around for a cooking segment. Double yay!! More Jenna!!

So in between segments there was a little downtime. RC had mentioned a few times throughout the morning that there was a big group from St. Louis. Being the dork that I am, I called him over to let him know that Jenna was from St. Louis too. Jenna being Jenna got super excited and rushed over to the group to talk about the schools she went to, and where her sister taught, etc. Too cute!

OK, so here’s where it gets good (and let me just say that if you are still reading this, you must really love me because I am babbling right now). Since I was kind of in a giddy haze, Geek Cheek was kind enough to recap:

GMMR: Jenna!!
[She looked toward us]
Geek Cheek: Jenna, it’s Kath from GMMR.com
Jenna: What?
Geek Cheek: Kath, from Give Me My Remote.com
Jenna: Oh my god, are you serious?
Jenna: Oh my god, I have to talk to her. [to the audience] She has this amazing website and is one of the biggest Office supporters. Did you come here for me?
GMMR: Yes!
Jenna: Oh my, you are awesome. That is so great.

So now I’m really dorking out. Jenna Fischer said hi. It’s at times like these when I wish there was a device that could zap me and remind me that I am a 30 year old professional woman…because really I felt like a teeny bopper. So that was it…my day was made. Life was good.

But then….oh yeah, there is a “but then”. After her cooking segment, the audience was clapping Jenna off, when I saw her coming into the audience and heading straight for me!! After we exchanged a quick hug, she said some really sweet things about GiveMeMyRemote.com and our support of the show. I’m not really sure what I was saying to her because my mind was definitely thinking “wow…I’m talking to Jenna Fischer” and “damn, she’s got great skin”, and in my subconscious I was probably also thinking “this woman has kissed John Krasinski”. It wasn’t a conscious thought but I’m sure it led to my inability to remember the moment. I know I said something about the incredibly nice note I received from her husband (James Gunn) along with the Troma DVD I won in his giveaway. Jenna mentioned that she goes to GMMR to get information about the show because we have it before she does most of the time. She specifically mentioned the video I posted from her and John’s DVD signing in NYC. Well as luck would have it, it was Geek Cheek that sent that video to me as she was there. Weird, right? Oh, and I most definitely took that moment to introduce Geek Cheek to Jenna and called her Fancy New Beesly (what is wrong with me?…LOL).

Jenna had to run, as she had some more press to do before she got glammed up for Letterman. I was super bummed that I didn’t get a picture with her, but I’m sure you all believe my story – even without photographic evidence.

Jenna left…Geek Cheek and I geeked out some more, and then it was time to go. Not a bad day….

A special THANK YOU goes out to Wendy for hooking us up with the tickets to the show – I owe you one. And to Geek Cheek (whom I just met yesterday), I hope to see you again sometime soon. Until then, I’ll be chatting it up with you online. To the people in the RR audience who were kind enough to send me emails this morning…THANKS!! And to Jenna…for being Jenna!! She was EXACTLY as how I imagined she would be – which was pretty damn cool.

And that concludes my novel for today!!

P.S. I will be sure to let you all know when Jenna’s appearance on The Rachel Ray Show will be on. It’s going to be sometime over the next two week.

Office Thursday on Give Me My Remote

The Office Thursdays on GiveMeMyRemote.com

So I know it’s Thursday and you all have been waiting patiently for the Office Thursday at Give Me My Remote update. Unfortunately I am traveling on business today and tomorrow and haven’t had much time to spend on my computer. And it’s a beautiful day here in NYC so you’ll forgive me if I want to get outside while I can 🙂

So here’s the miniest of all mini Office Thursdays.

Tonight’s episode (8:30/7:30c on NBC)….
Branch Closing”

When Jan tells Michael that the Scranton Branch will be shutting down, Michael strives to keep his staff’s spirits up. Meanwhile, everyone privately begins to envision how their lives will change in the aftermath. Both Brian Baumgartner and Jenna Fischer has said this is the best episode yet! I guess we’ll see in just a few hours. (Yahoo Clips)

Producer’s Cut of “Branch Closing”…
nbc_thoffice.gif As a special treat to us all, NBC.com will be streaming a producer’s cut version of tonight’s episode starting at 9pm PT (so that’s midnight to us here on the East Coast). The longer version will show the scenes that didn’t make it into the regular 30 minute broadcast ep. Looks like it’s going to be a late night for GMMR. (NBC.com/TheOffice)
From the desk of Meredith Palmer…
Meredith Palmer (Kate Flannery) Kate Flannery is the resident Office blogger at TV Guide. In this week’s installment we get a little info on some of the perks that come with being on a hit TV show. From the dresses, to the awards, to hearing Katie Holmes speak? Anyway, make sure you check out her new blog update and leave a comment to show her the love. (Read Kate’s Blog)

Post-ep Blogging with Greg Daniels…
office_100x100.gif Executive producer Greg Daniels will be live blogging after the East Coast airing of the show over at NBC.com. Last time he blogged after the show it was for the season premiere, so I’m expecting big things tonight! You can head over there now and leave a question for Greg. (NBC.com/TheOffice)

Speaking of LIVE chatting…
buddytv_100x100.gif I’m looking forward to watching tonight’s episode with all of you over at BuddyTV.com. As always, we will be chatting away starting at 8pm EST and throughout the show. Click here to set a reminder!

Jenna on Letterman Tonight….
Jenna_flower_100x100.jpg Don’t forget to check out Jenna Fischer on David Letterman tonight!! She’s going to be on with Keifer Sutherland. Maybe they can figure out a 24/Office crossover. Jenna also taped her appearance on The Rachel Ray Show this morning, and I was there. Check back a little later and I’ll share all the fun details!!

John Krasinski is EVERYWHERE….
John Krasinski as Jim Halpert Well, I guess he’s not everywhere, because I look around and it’s just me in this big old hotel room. But, John seems to be popping up in pics all over this great internet of ours. I’m not going to post the pics here because they aren’t mind to share, but I’ll certainly tell you where to go to see them.

First up – there were some ‘razi’esque photos taken of John and Rashida Jones strolling down the streets of Beverly Hills. Not sure when they were taken, but they did mention something about an “early morning stroll”. Let’s just hope it wasn’t too early if you know what I mean. And based on his clenched fists, I don’t think John was too pleased about being photographed. (Check out the pics)

MEAN Magazine has posted what I believe to be the HOTTEST John Krasinski photos I have EVER seen. MEAN Magazine is on stands now (althought I can’t find it anywhere in NYC). Make sure you check it out. Or just click here to see the pics of John.

Rumor has it that John will appear on tomorrow’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show. I guess Ellen is doing a karaoke based show and John will be singing his little heart out. I heard he dedicates a song to me, aw he’s so cute.

Lost Recap: “I Do”

Lost Recaps

I had big plans of getting settled in in my flight last night and watching Lost. Two things happened. One, my flight was canceled (long story) and two Jet Blue doesn’t offer ABC. Huh? 45 different variations on ESPN but no ABC? Bizarre.

Needless to say, I wasn’t able to watch Lost. I plan on catching it online later this week. Because I have absolutely no self control, I had to read Michelle’s kick ass recap. I tried to resist, but I couldn’t. It’s a doozy…so much went down, and I don’t just mean Kate. (D’oh)

Title: “I Do”
Original Airdate: 10/8/2006

Open to a scene of a thin woman walking down a hotel corridor. Groovy music is playing as her hair flips back and forth; she looks happy and carefree. We see its Kate, and she opens the door to a room, puts a box on the bed, and opens the lid. Inside is…a head. OK, just kidding, it’s a wedding veil. She looks a little wistful. Suddenly, there’s a knock on the door from a cop who says they’re doing a room check because there may be someone dangerous in the hotel. Oh no! Is this the U.S. Marshal, coming to get Kate? Nope – those crazy young kids and their sexual role playing games! The cop gets it on with Kate as soon as she opens the door. I’m assuming they know each other, but who knows?

PRESENT: Kate and Sawyer are still in their cages. He’s throwing rocks, and they’re both looking despondent and bored, and there’s an air of apprehension. Go figure.

Jack is examining X-rays. He tells Ben his tumor is “borderline inoperable” and that within a week or so, the “borderline” part of that description will be gone. He needs surgery ASAP. However, Jack isn’t committed to doing the surgery, as he can’t be sure that Ben will hold up his end of the bargain and let him go once he’s done. Is Jack serious about not doing the surgery? Is this part of a plan to help Juliet? Does he trust Juliet OR Ben?

FLASHBACK: Kate and her cop friend are sharing in post-coital bliss. Apparently, he’s the fiancé in question. “I love you, Monica,” he tells her. “I love you, too, Kevin,” she responds. Huh?

PRESENT: Rise and shine, Kate, cause Danny, that crazy Other who is so fond of weapons, has come for you and says that Sawyer is staying behind because he has the day off. But wait – Kate is being stubborn and won’t go along without Sawyer. I think she’s suspicious that they have other, more violent plans in store for Sawyer. But Kate wins, and off they both go to their rock-hauling duties.

Cast of Studio 60

Good news for fans of Studio 60.  The ratings challenged behind the scenes look at SNL (um..I mean NOT SNL) is rumored to have been picked up for a full season.  Kevin Reilly, who I am starting to believe is my new favorite network exec, fought hard to keep the show alive.  No word yet on whether Studio 60 will remain in its Monday 10pm timeslot, but many think it will…for now.

Give Me My Remote (GMMR)My bags are packed…I’m ready to go…Ok, so NYC is only about an hour long flight, but it’s still an adventure. I’m in NYC the next two days on business, but a little fun will be had too.

Hopefully I will be able to get online tonight and post, but I’m staying at a friend’s place and I’m not sure she as wireless in her apartment. But I’m checking into a swanky hotel tomorrow afternoon, so I’ll be back online soon enough.

Jenna_flower_100x100.jpgMy friend Wendy was cool enough to hook me up with tickets to the taping of The Rachel Ray Show tomorrow morning. Jenna Fischer (Pam, The Office) will be appearing so I’m SUPER excited!! Cross your fingers that I’ll be able to say a quick “Hi” to Fancy New Beesly.

And for those of you wondering, yes – we will most definitely be having the LIVE “Office” chat at BuddyTV.com on Thursday night. I wouldn’t miss it.

Gilmore Girls Recap

I triple dog dare you to find a better and more comprehensive Gilmore Girls recap on the Web.  Come on…try me!  Thanks Whirl for taking on last night’s Gilmore Girls.  I missed the ep, and probably won’t have time to watch it until at least this weekend so it was great to be able to catch up.

Title: “Go, Bulldogs!”
Original Airedate: 10/7/2006

Lorelai’s on the phone, leaving her mother a message to cancel her plans to come over that evening. And by leaving a message I mean pretending her mother is an answering machine and then hanging up on her. Christopher seems amazed at her ability to get out of seeing her parents. Lorelai just smiles and pretends she doesn’t hear the phone ringing as a confused Emily calls back. Wow, that was the quickest opening scene in Gilmore history I think.

Morning time and Lorelai is opening her mail and listening to a “Learn French in 3 weeks” tape, or something to that affect. Chris comes in bringing coffee and food for his woman, proclaiming Lor better learn French quick because they are going to Paris in two weeks.  Lorelai is convinced she only needs to have a convincing French accent and pretend she’s an orphan from Marseilles to be accepted by the French. Okay then. Chris spots a pamphlet for “Parents Weekend” at Yale and wants to go. Lorelai’s not too keen, because it’s only for the parents that aren’t liked by their kids, whereas they are cool parents and can go to Yale whenever they want. Chris thinks they should do it since they are “together now” and it’ll be fun. That hooks Lor, so they make plans to go on the Saturday. Rory calls and hears the good news, never missing a beat as her parents pass the phone back and forth. Look everybody, it’s a happy family!

House Recap: “Que Sera Sera”

House Recaps

Before we get into out recap, I have to take a minute to thank our HOUSEkeeper LaLa for her amazing House recaps this season.  When we celebrated our 1 year anniversary a few weeks ago, my head was obviously way up my ass and I didn’t thank LaLa for her contributions to Give Me My Remote.  Trying to manage my real job and GMMR sometimes gets a little tough, and the show recappers are so important in keeping this site going.  So thanks again to all the recappers, but especially LaLa since I missed giving you the love the first time around.

On to House….

Title: Que Sera Sera
Original Airdate: 11/7/06

After watching this episode, I was left with one big, puzzling question: How the heck can someone be conscious and calm while their head is being drilled?!?!?  I mean seriously, I freak out when a doctor sticks a needle in my arm – I can’t imagine sitting there, just chilling, while someone takes a power tool and drills a hole in my skull!!  But I digress…

And now, back to our regularly scheduled House recap.  We begin the episode with a fireman on the street telling another fireman a sistah-from-the-Hood joke, which is rudely interrupted by an entire wall falling to the ground in front of them.  That would be their fellow fireman in the building above doing their best to extricate a hugely obese man from his deathbed.  Strangely, someone lets out a big fart when the firemen try to lift up said obese guy.  Eventually realizing, though, that the “Whoever smelt it dealt it” rule isn’t working here, the firemen figure out that it could only have been from the obese guy – and therefore he is not, in fact, dead.

The OC – New Ep Tonight & Thursday

November 8, 2006 by

The OC Cast

From the emails I received last week, it seems that many of my GMMRers took my advice and checked out The S4 premiere of The OC last week. Unfortunately, the rest of the country was busy watching Grey’s Anatomy and CSI. Let’s face it, The OC doesn’t have a shot at the Thursday 9pm timeslot, but there is hope yet.

In a show of faith, Fox is giving The OC a chance to see if they can’t beat last week’s ratings (and it would be almost impossible not to). So tonight, The OC is airing a NEW episode at 9/8c. Yeah, I know…the show is going up against the mid-season finale of Lost, but hey, that’s what TiVo is for. Watch The OC…TiVo Lost. You know you are going to have to watch Lost a few more times to make sure you catch everything anyway, right?

If The OC does well in ratings tonight, I’m pretty sure Fox will make the call to move it permanently to Wednesday nights – which would be fantastic news (since Thursday is waaaaay to crowded as it is).

But don’t forget to actually watch TOMORROW night at 9/8c because we’ve got another all new episode airing too.  Because really, one episode a week just isn’t enough.

Here’s what’s going down on The OC TONIGHT

Ryan has unwanted company on a trip to Mexico to take care of unfinished business; Taylor has startling news during a surprise visit to Summer; Kaitlin takes an unusual interest in the Harbor clothing drive.
