GMMR Gets Shout Out in The Trib’s Watchie Awards
December 5, 2006 by Kath Skerry
Chicago Tribune’s fabulous TV critic, Maureen Ryan has just posted her 2006 Watchie Awards – her take on “the most memorable, notable or just plain weird moments and people of the 2006 TV scene.” This is an entertaining look at TV over the past year from someone who lives and breathes TV as much as I do.
Maureen was kind enough to give GMMR and our friends over at Office Tally and Northern Attack, and ostensibly all of YOU a big shout out for insisting that NBC give The Office the time it truly needed in last season’s finale. And oh how it did deliver.
From the Chicago Tribune:
Best fan campaign (network division): “Office” creator Greg Daniels used an interview in the Tribune to plead for a supersize Season 2 finale. Within hours of that interview, “Office” aficionados from the fan sites OfficeTally.com, NorthernAttack.com and GiveMeMyRemote.com had set up supersizedoffice.com — and the thousands of pleas on the site worked – “The Office” got a supersize finale. Well done, fans!

- Most dynamic duo
- Most efficient way to kill a show

- Hottest romance
- Best bad boy
- Least enjoyable reality-show judges
- The give me that hour of my life back award
- Most heartbreaking series finale
- Best kiss (Like you even have to ask)
- Most necessary death
- …and many more!

HA! I was going to put the same exact comment as Jim Mosby, but he beet me to it! So…ditto 🙂
That column was awesome – thanks for sharing.
And congrats!!
Good article! The Office got quite a few mentions that made me proud. Way to go, GMMR!
I did see this today – congrats GMMR! I’m so glad your site’s being recognized in ways like this. I love that Mo Ryan is such a big Office fan as well.
What a great column! I’m so glad she mentioned Psych, which is such a great show 🙂 And, of course, The Office love (along w/ House and 24). I really need to watch more of these shows that she mentions (and you cover, too). Ah well.
Oh! And congrats on the shout out! She mentions three of my favorite Office fan-sites, yay!
Wow… not only did you get a nod, but it was from a fantastic source – this article was, basically, what I wish TV writing could be like all the time.
