Scrubs the Musical: “Guy Love” Video

December 7, 2006 by

I can’t….I simply can’t. The genius of Scrubs is often hard to put into words, but this music video for “Guy Love” from the upcoming Scrubs musical (which will air in just a few weeks) is just amazing.

The passion in which JD and Turk express their heterosexual (I think) love for each other made me cry. My co-workers are looking at me a bit strange, but I don’t care. You can’t deny True Guy Love!!!

Rebecca Romijn to Join Ugly Betty

E!’s Kristin Veitch is reporting that Rebecca Romijn will be joining the cast of Ugly Betty as a series regular. The former X-Men mutant and star of Pepper Dennis will be heading to the set of the ABC comedy as soon as next week!!

Want to know which role Rebecca will be playing? If you don’t, then close your eyes.

Closed?  No peeking…
Rebecca will be playing the woman behind all the bandages that Wilhemina has been talking to since the beginning of the show. Hmmm, I thought Willie had been talking to Faye this whole time. Am I the only one that thought that?  And I don’t care how much plastic surgery you get, a 50+ year old woman could never end up looking like Rebecca Romijn.  I don’t care if you went to Dr. 90210 himself.

And expect Rebecca’s character to tempt the newly committed Daniel Meade.

P.S. That pic is for the GMMR boys!

NBC's The Office, The Office Thursday on Give Me My Remote

No Office this week (sigh)…
Jim and Pam, The Office, Benihana Christmas Sadly there is no new episode of The Office this week. I suggest that we all use this time off wisely and properly prepare for the one hour Christmas episode that will be airing next week. “A Benihana Christmas” has been rumored to be the best.episode.ever. So much so that they are airing the episode two weeks in a row. Best episode ever? I guess we’ll have to wait and see. I’m expecting to have the screener in my hands by the end of the week, so I’ll be sure to give you a sneak peek.

Michael Scott, The office, A Benihana ChristmasIf you are in need of an Office fix and just can’t wait until next week, you’re in luck. Yahoo has three preview clips of “A Benihana Christmas” Check ’em out now before Yahoo realizes they posted the clips a week too early and they take them down (Office clips at Yahoo)

And as always, OfficeTally.com has a comprehensive list of episode spoilers for you to check out if you are so inclined. (Office Tally)

Kate’s Blog…
There may not be a new episode, but that didn’t stop Kate Flannery from posting a new blog over at TV Guide. This week Kate blogs about how to deal with an Office-free night, the perfect holiday gifts for Office fans*, her visit to the Playboy Mansion (Creed went too…’nuff said – check out the pic). Did you all leave comments for Kate last week? She reads all the comments, so it’s a great way to let her know how much you appreciate the blog, and the show. (Kate’s Blog)

Gilmore Girls Recap: “Merry Fisticuffs”

Title: “Merry Fisticuffs”
Original Airdate: 12/5/06

Okay everyone, you’ve seen the previews, you can see the name of the episode and if you’ve read my recaps at all you know I‘ve been waiting for this. It’s the Luke & Christopher Showdown of 2006! Lets see if we can finish the year off with a bang or at least some satisfying man on man action.

We start out with Christopher and Lorelai in a kitchen, a very large and spacious kitchen, kissing each other goodbye for the day. What the heck? Oh wait, turns out they are just playing around, seeing if this house feels right. They even have a realtor there, who’s describing the beauty of the home. However once she says the words “tree house” I am sold. I always wanted a tree house as a kid, even though I’m not really an outdoorsy person and I hate heights. The couple is left alone to discuss the house and it seems they both really love it. Chris says he knows it’s not in Stars Hollow but it is a small town. Wait. Stop this train. Not in Stars Hollow? Blasphemy! As they are leaving Lorelai gets quiet and Chris realizes she wants to stay in her town and in her house. She admits she does and he says okay. Phew, I mean I know they wouldn’t actually move but its mean of the writers to even suggest such a thing.

Matthew Fox’s Reprieve from Lost?

December 5, 2006 by

So why is it that while Matthew Fox‘s co-stars are off filming Lost in Hawaii, he is here in the 48 contiguous shooting SNL and hanging out in my hometown on Boston? Could it have something to do with the rumors that are running rampant that Jack is going to be going the way of Boone, Shannon, Eko and other (not The Others, just others…oh forget it it)?

Last night Fox was in Boston promoting his new movie We Are Marshall, and the Boston Herald’s Sean McCarthy got an exclusive interview with the good Dr. himself. Here’s a little excerpt from their convo:

On when he heads back to Hawaii….
FOX: “Actually the show is shooting. I can’t tell you why, but I have had a little reprieve from the show. I hear there’s rumors out there that I’ve been killed off the show. Which I love that. I love the fact that anytime, they’ll take the tiniest little kernel of, Matthew Fox shows up in New York and ‘He’s been killed off Lost!’

On ABC’s decision to have a “fall finale” with no new eps until February….
FOX: “I think it gives the audience more traction. I mean, yeah, I think the audience was a little bummed when they saw that sixth episode and they were like (hearing the voiceover) ‘The show won’t be back until February.’ I think they were a little upset about that. But I think when they realize that the tradeoff is, when the show is on, they get a new episode every week. And they’re not going to have to do that thing they did last year, which was ‘We get one and then we wait two weeks. Oh my God, there was a new one on last night? I didn’t even know!’ You know, that whole thing. So I think it gives the show a lot more traction and momentum. I think it was a good choice by (ABC Entertainment President) Steve McPherson.”

Heroes Recap: “Fallout”

Filed under Heroes, Heroes Recaps, TV News

I might be the only person reading this that is HAPPY, no THRILLED that Heroes is on a short hiatus until the new year. I’ve fallen completely behind in my Hiro worship, and have to work hard to remain unspoiled until I have the chance to catch up. No promos, no message boards, no awesome recaps from Julie…yeah, it’s been tough. But I promise to use the holiday break to get caught up so I can actually participate in the discussion when the show comes back.

For those of you who want your shot to figure out what everyone is talking about, Julie tells me that we can now watch all the eps for free over at NBC. Woo hoo!!
Special thanks to Julie for managing to get the Heroes recap done for all of you, despite her recent cross country travels. Thanks!!

Title: “Fallout”
Original Air Date: 12/4/2006

Blood-covered Claire and her dad arrive at home. He’s been silent since she told him what she can do (which seems to have happened off-screen), but he has something to tell her: he’s known about it. He knew before she did, before she made the tapes. He did it because he wanted to protect her, but Claire’s unhappy with it: “All this time I’ve felt so alone…”

Mr. Bennett explains that he’s done things to keep her safe because he wanted her to have a normal life. Her mother and brother don’t know. Nobody else can know. “There are others out there like [Sylar], who want what you have and will hurt you to get it.” Err, she says her bro Lyle kinda knows, and Zach too, so her dad counsels her to talk to them, explain, and get them to shut their yaps. He’ll tell Lyle, she should tell Zach.

SNL is Funny Again?!

December 5, 2006 by
Filed under Saturday Night Live, TV Comedy, TV News

I’m not really sure what is happening over at SNL but over the past few weeks they seemed to have found the funny. It all started with the Alec Baldwin-hosted episode a few weeks ago, continued with a surprisingly good episode featuring Ludicrious, and finally this week we had a solid show with guest host Matthew Fox of Lost. Maybe it’s the pressure from 30 Rock and Studio 60. Whatever the reason, I say ‘keep it up SNL’, and I might decide to keep on watching.

Here were my two favorite sketches from this past week’s show.

Matthew Fox runs into obsessive Lost fans

GMMR Spotlight: “My Boys” on TBS

December 5, 2006 by

Cast of My Boys

Last week was the series premiere of TBS’s new comedy, My Boys. I was really bummed out that I didn’t have the time to give you all the proper heads up about it, because I really liked it. So although it might be a week late, I thought I could give you the quick run down on what the show is all about so you can be up to speed as you watch episode #3* tonight at 10/9c on TBS.

The Premise:

PJ Franklin (portrayed by Jordana Spiro) is a twenty-something sports reporter for the Chicago Sun Times. At first glance, she’s a typical young single woman–smart, attractive, outgoing, personable. Her boys are her family, which sometimes hinders PJ’s dating life, as the men she tries to date don’t know how to react to her unconventional interests and the all-important men in her life.

PJ’s group of friends includes her brother, Andy (Jim Gaffigan), whose wife keeps him on an all-too-short leash; Mike (Jamie Kaler), a commitment-challenged ladies man who works for the Chicago Cubs; Kenny (Michael Bunin), a sports-memorabilia store owner who hasn’t mastered the art of dating; and Brendan (Reid Scott), a hard-rock DJ whose on-again, off-again romance with his girlfriend often leaves him crashing at PJ’s apartment; and the most recent addition to the group, Bobby (Kyle Howard) a sportswriter for the Chicago Tribune, the Windy City’s rival newspaper. PJ’s friend Stephanie (Kellee Stewart), who she’s known since journalism school, does her best to give PJ advice on men and dating from a more female point-of-view.

GMMR’s Quick Two Cents:

Give this one a shot. Although I didn’t fall completely head-over-heels with the premiere episode, I found myself surprisingly bummed out when I got to the end of the 5th episode and my screeners were all gone.

GMMR Gets Shout Out in The Trib’s Watchie Awards

Give Me My Remote (GMMR)Chicago Tribune’s fabulous TV critic, Maureen Ryan has just posted her 2006 Watchie Awards – her take on “the most memorable, notable or just plain weird moments and people of the 2006 TV scene.” This is an entertaining look at TV over the past year from someone who lives and breathes TV as much as I do.

Maureen was kind enough to give GMMR and our friends over at Office Tally and Northern Attack, and ostensibly all of YOU a big shout out for insisting that NBC give The Office the time it truly needed in last season’s finale. And oh how it did deliver.

From the Chicago Tribune:

Best fan campaign (network division): “Office” creator Greg Daniels used an interview in the Tribune to plead for a supersize Season 2 finale. Within hours of that interview, “Office” aficionados from the fan sites OfficeTally.com, NorthernAttack.com and GiveMeMyRemote.com had set up supersizedoffice.com — and the thousands of pleas on the site worked – “The Office” got a supersize finale. Well done, fans!

Click here to read Mo’s column and get her take in categories such as:

  • Most dynamic duo
  • Most efficient way to kill a show
  • Most dead network trend award
  • Hottest romance
  • Best bad boy

  • The give me that hour of my life back award
  • Most heartbreaking series finale
  • Best kiss (Like you even have to ask)
  • Most necessary death

Two of the funniest women on TV, Jenna Fischer (The Office) and Tina Fey (30 Rock) recently got together to dish about men, their shows, and the tough competition on Thursday nights. Here’s a taste of their chit chat:

Jenna: You know, I tried to get on Dancing With the Stars and they wouldn’t take me. True story! I show the first season of The Office and I thought, “The show’s going to get canceled and I have to milk every opportunity I can.” My manager called, my agent called, but they didn’t bite.
TV Guide: Their loss! Especially since you appeared on People magazine’s Most Beautiful list this year.
Jenna: I was 32nd most beautiful. I counted.
Tina: Wow. In the world”
Jenna: The whole planet.
TV Guide: And Tina, you were on the Most Beautiful list in 2003?
