Happy Holidays from GiveMeMyRemote.com

I just wanted to take a moment to wish everyone a happy and healthy holiday season.  I’ve got some last minute shopping to take care of and then it’s off to spend some time with my family.  I’ll be around but I might not get around to posting much until Christmas night.  I hope you all get what you want to Christmas this year.  You all know what I’m hoping Santa brings for me 🙂  Be good!!

Watchlist and GMMR Update

Before you know it our favorite shows will be back. Personally, I can’t wait. It’s been a slow TV news week. I’m officially on my Christmas break and I don’t have to go back to work until January. Woo hoo!!! But I’m not on vacation from GMMR so although things might be a bit slower over the next few days I’ll be around. We’ve got some fun things planned next week, so make sure you check in.

If you come across some TV news you want to share, feel free to send it along. And just because I don’t watch your favorite show, it doesn’t mean I won’t share the scoop and the gossip. So if you’ve got it….give it (that’s what she said..sorry I couldn’t resist).

And since I’ve already received a ton of emails today, I have to say that we are going to have to skip out on The Office Thursday on Give Me My Remote today. I know, I know. But I HAVE to go Christmas shopping or risk having nothing but my winning smile to give the family on Christmas morning. Please forgive me. Be back later!!!

Merry Christmas from The Office

A Benihana Christmas tonight on NBC!! Watch it again…and again…and again. And thank to MozartsFriend for this video.

Honolulu Fire Capt. Kenison Tejada said that his department received the alarm at 6:43 a.m. Wednesday, and that crews reached the scene six minutes later.

“When we arrived the house was fully engulfed,” Tejada said. “It was a complete loss. Just the roof was still standing.” Fire investigators arrived on the scene of the early morning blaze later on Wednesday. The cause has yet to be determined.

So it seems like you all have been coming to GMMR in droves this past week, but you’d never know it by the lack of chit chat. No comments? No love? I know TV has been a bit lame as of late but you must be watching something, no? Give me a topic that y’all would be interested in talking about. Something…anything. NO…not THAT!!!
At the very least you can all wish my friend Cip a very Happy Birthday. He’s turns the Big 3-0 today!!!

Leona Lewis “A Moment Like This” Video

A perk of having your own blog is that you can post what you like, when you like…even if people are getting sick of it. Case in point…my latest obsession with Leona Lewis. Sorry, but I j’adore her which means you too much endure all the videos.

Check out Leona’s very first music video. It was throw together in the past week and it documents her X Factor journey from audition through her big win. I’m still a tad bit disappointed that her first single is a cover of Kelly Clarkson’s “A Moment Like This” but I could listen to her all day. Go Leona!!

TV Spoofs to Curb the Boredom

Listen, I know what you are doing. You are sitting at your computer pretending to do work, or perhaps pretending to study for finals. But if you are anything like me you can work in, oh about 5 minute increments before getting distracted by this good ‘ol thing called the world wide web. It just sucks you in, doesn’t it? Well, I’m an enabler so I thought I would share some fun distractions with you.

I can’t ever say that I watch MadTV, but I do find the skits they do pretty amusing. Check out some of these great TV spoofs from the recent past:

NBC Gives a Little for the Holidays

NBC Gives a Little for the Holidays

Thanks to the Chicago Tribune’s Maureen Ryan for alerting me to a little Christmas joy coming via NBC.com. First, NBC has announced that every episode of their critically acclaimed hit Friday Night Lights will be available for free on NBC.com.  I had to take FNL out of my weekly viewing schedule when I decided that I had to make sleep a priority.  Both Friday Night Lights and Heroes (I know, I know) are on my ‘To Do’ list for the week I have off between Christmas and New Years.  I’m glad that I don’t have to blow that iTunes gft card on the eps.  Thanks NBC.Watch the full season of Friday Night Lights

Watch the full season of Heroes

More importantly, NBC.com is offering a free download of “O Holy Night” as performed by New Orleans musicians on the Christmas episode of Studio 60. It was a moving moment, perhaps the best moment of Studio 60 so far.  The song (which I just listened to about 4 times in a row) is simply beautiful. The musicians featured benefit from The Tipitina’s Foundation, an organization aimed at rebuilding the music culture of New Orleans.

Big Surprise for American Idol Fans

American IdolWill Simon wear a shirt that actually fits him? Maybe Ryan Seacrest goes on the air LIVE without first getting a manicure. Perhaps Paula Abdul stays sober or Randy forever bans the word “dawg” (a girl can dream).

Well something BIG is expected midway through the upcoming season of American Idol which premieres of January 16, 2007/. A producer for the show that says that Idol will stage a “big event show…something that will blow America away”.

So Idol fans, what can we expect? Any guesses?

I don’t know about you, but I can’t WAIT for the next season of American Idol. Oh, and some one was kind enough to send me a copy of Taylor Hick’s new CD. I can’t wait to check it out this afternoon. Soul Patrol!!

My Boys on TBS

I am single…isn’t that good news for my boys?  Oh wait, sorry, the My Boys in question is the hit TBS comedy which just got picked up for an additional nine episodes.

Yes, TBS has ordered nine additional episodes of the popular and critically acclaimed series My Boys, the network’s first-ever original scripted comedy.

“It’s understood that comedy is one of the most difficult forms of entertainment to do well, so it’s a great feeling to know that our first attempt at creating an original scripted comedy series has been so well-received,” said Wright.  “We’re very proud to continue our relationship with My Boys outstanding cast and gifted production team, and we look forward to following this very funny show.” – Michael Wright, senior vice president of original programming for TBS and TNT.

So what does this all mean to you?  Well, this season of My Boys will end on December 28th, but PJ and the boys will be back to work in the new year and will come back this summer with another nine new episodes.

As for the rest of December, My Boys will continue to air back-to-back episodes Tuesdays at 10 p.m. (ET/PT). But, as a special holiday treat, TBS will air two additional NEW episodes during the final week of December.

Ep #9: Tuesday, Dec. 26, at 10 p.m.
Ep #10: Tuesday, Dec. 26, at 10:30 p.m.
Ep #11: Wednesday, Dec. 27, at 10 p.m

Ok, I promise this is the last Justin Timberlake on SNL video I will post…this week. No, seriously, I’m done after this one. But this is the video I was waiting on. Last time Justin was bringin’ it on down to “Omletteville” and now he’s givin’ it on up to “Homelessville”. Too funny not to share (as I know many of you were lamenting that you didn’t watch the episode).
