If you’ve never given Veronica Mars a chance, tonight is the night!! See El Presidente will be gabbing away on all the other networks, but over on The CW we’ve got a brand new episode of Veronica Mars. And come on, you know you’d rather look at Jason Dohring than George W., right? So what’s happening in Neptune tonight?
Attempting to keep her mind off Logan (Jason Dohring), Veronica (Kristen Bell) takes a job helping animal researchers track down a monkey missing from their laboratory. In order to find the missing animal, Veronica and Mac (Tina Majorino) go undercover as members of an on-campus animal rights group, believed to have freed the monkey.
Meanwhile, Mindy O’Dell (guest star Jamie Ray Newman, asks Keith (Enrico Colantoni) to investigate Dean O’Dell’s (Ed Begley, Jr., ) death because she believes he was murdered.
See, doesn’t that already sound more entertaining than old men in a big room clapping for each other?
And don’t forget that this season of Veronica Mars is available on iTunes, and it will soon also be available for viewing at The CW website (www.cwtv.com)

Oh. My. Goodness. Just when I thought 24 could not have any more jaw dropping shockers this season – especially so soon after last week’s nuke – we learn that Bluetooth, aka the mysterious mastermind pulling Logan’s strings last year, is none other than Jack’s brother!!!!!!!!! I am not exaggerating when I say that my jaw was literally frozen in gape-mouthed stupefiedness for quite some time after that reveal. I mean, revealing that President Logan was responsible for last year’s evil deeds was not that surprising because the guy was so incredibly weaselly and underhanded already. But to tell us that Bluetooth was Jack Bauer’s own BROTHER?!?!? Wow. My mind is blown. And you know what the craziest/most awesome part of this is? Paul McCrane, the actor playing Bluetooth (aka Graham), actually resembles Kiefer Sutherland and could totally be his brother. WOW. Major kudos, 24, for what is in my opinion your greatest plot twist ever.
Of course, several lingering questions remain – like how did Jack know that Graham was up to no good just from that initial phone conversation? What exactly was Jack’s relationship with Graham’s wife, who supposedly “never got over him”? Why is Jack estranged from Graham in the first place? Or his dad, for that matter? And what exactly does Jack’s dad do? And why is James Cromwell playing Jack’s dad, and not Donald Sutherland aka Kiefer’s real life dad? And since we’re delving into family relations, what happened to Jack’s mom? I’m betting that at least some, if not most, of these questions will be answered in the remaining episodes of the season – especially since judging by the previews next week, we’ll soon be meeting Jack’s dad. But not before Jack, who has now clearly gotten his mojo back, gets some hard-core torture done on his evil, traitorous brother, who tried to have Jack killed several times already! Talk about Cain and Abel!! Except, of course, this time Abel gets to come back from the dead and beat the crap out of Cain. “You’re hurting me,” Graham whines to Jack. “Trust me, I’m not,” responds Jack, who is soon choking his brother with a plastic bag. Oh yes, Jack Bauer is back my friends.
Prison Break Recap” John Doe”

I have to admit, I was a little bummed when I read the Entertainment Weekly write-up of “Prison Break” this past week. Bummed because the magazine said that this season is not as tense or as good as last season, what with our boys on the run and not confined behind the walls of Fox River, and I agree with that assessment. But then Saturday night (don’t judge me) I watched that half-hour “’Prison Break’ up to this point” special that was on, and Sarah Wayne Callies, who plays Sara, said that everything we’ve been wanting to see and waiting to see will happen in the second half of season two. So you know, ladies and gentlemen, that can only really mean one thing: MICHAEL AND SARA WILL EVENTUALLY GET NAKED TOGETHER BEFORE THE MAY FINALE. I can’t guarantee this, obviously, but that’s what I’m interpreting her comment to mean, and it gives me a renewed interest in the show.
[cue deep and sexy Wentworth Miller voice] “Previously, on ‘Prison Break’”: Kellerman just shot Mahone, and Michael and Linc (who had just escaped from police custody for at least the third time since the beginning of the first season) decided to join forces with him in order to expose the President and, in the words of Kellerman, “take that bitch down.” C-Note’s wife was in jail after trying to get a prescription filled for her daughter and being caught by police. T-Bag had tracked down Susan Hollander, the woman who originally turned him in to police, and was on her front doorstep, as promised. Bellick was back at Fox River, this time as a prisoner, after inexplicably taking a plea bargain regarding Roy’s murder.

Monday Night TV Redux

Monday night is becoming like a second third job. There were so many quality shows on last night. We had the winter premieres of Heroes, Prison Break and Studio 60 as well as 24 and How I Met Your Mother. We’ve got full on recaps coming your way for most of shows so if you missed them, no worries – we’ll hook you up.
Warning, what you are about to read is my “I woke up too early and can’t fall back to sleep so I thought I would jump online and blog about what I watched on TV last night” babble. You may never get these moments back so read at your own risk.
Heroes…
I haven’t been able to find the time to catch up on Heroes, and I’m wondering if I should really try. It feels like more of a chore at this point. I haven’t completely given up on it yet. I have a few days off at the beginning of February, so I will try my best. I supposed I could just go back and read all of Julie’s Heroes Recaps, but with the show like that, I’m thinking I should put forth my best effort that actually see it on TV, right?
24…
Don’t shoot me but I haven’t caught up on the first 2 eps yet, so I had to TiNo this one until the weekend. I know, I know, I was supposed to catch up on 24 this past weekend, but despite the amount of time I spend watching TV, I do have friends and a life and I was busy most of the weekend. I will watch though. I promise.
Prison Break…
You already know that I liked this one since I praised it the other day. Michelle has a Prison Break recap which I will post in just a few minutes. I was bummed not to see Tequila Tancredi, but I know what to expect in coming eps, and believe me kids, it’s GOOD. Dude, how creeped out were you with the T-Bag scenes, ew…just ew. You know how actors are sometimes afraid they are going to get typecast for a role? Robert Knepper (T-Bag) has got to be a little worried about that, right? I mean he plays the lowest form of humanity so well…and with such an extensive vocabulary. He must have done well on his SATs. Stedman is dead, and to be honest I didn’t see that coming. I thought he would have a bigger role this season.
Ok here’s my question. If Steadman didn’t kill himself and went to the press and admitted everything. Lincoln didn’t kill him, and there was an elaborate government conspiracy…the works. Wouldn’t Michael and Lincoln still be screwed? They’d be sent back to prison for years and years (many more than Michael was probably originally given). Despite his good intentions, Michael did in fact commit a crime to get him into prison in the first place. And then he assaulted the Warden and helped murders and rapists escape jail. Even with Linc cleared of murder, they would both serve some serious jail time. This is what I stay awake thinking about.

Beginning TODAY viewers will be invited to experience Heroes in a whole new way. As Heroes watchers investigate on-air clues and learn new truths about the characters, their involvement will lead them to new platforms, including interaction with unique mobile content; a WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) site that one of the characters gives them access to; a special “two screen” application which provides a real-time experience; access to the fictional Primatech Paper company’s phone system; and significantly increased original content on NBC.com including secret files, hidden sites and original commentary from cast members added to each streaming episode.
The announcement was made by Jeff Gaspin, President NBC Universal Cable Entertainment, Digital Content and Cross Network Strategy.
“This is particularly exciting because it’s the most developed TV 360 application we’ve created for a scripted series, and the first to use this level of interactivity,” said Gaspin. “‘Heroes’ has proven itself a hit on-air and online, and these extensions of rich, original content will allow our audience unprecedented access to new levels of the show as they dig deeper.”

Adama threatens to nuke the planet if the Cylons so much as sneeze in that direction. D’Anna is determined to see the final five Cylons.
Adama goes through the entire motion of getting nukes ready to launch. All of the Cylons agree to turn around their Raiders. Except for the one carrying D’Anna and Baltar. The Cylons don’t like her maverick style and start to discuss their options. On the surface, Baltar musters some religious babble to encourage D’Anna, proving he can fluff his way through any conversation if it means getting his way.

Let’s hope that the folks over at The Office stop by GMMR today, and just stare at this beautiful picture and let their minds be filled with all the possibilities. See we LOVE Roy (as long as he’s not with Pam) and we love Karen (as long as she’s not with Jim). There’s this thing someone told me once, I can’t remember the exact saying but it was something about a stone and two birds. Just consider it, ok?
Prison Break is Back (GMMR Sneak Peek)
January 22, 2007 by Kath Skerry

This post contains minor spoilers for tonight’s episode of Prison Break…you have been warned.
Michael Scofield and his band of merry men (well at least those still kickin’) are back tonight on Prison Break (8/7c on Fox) after a too long mini-hiatus. I was lucky enough to catch a sneak peek of tonight’s episode, and let me tell ya…it is good!
When we last saw Michael and Linc they had been captured by Mahone and were set-up to be executed in an elaborate tunnel raid that everyone and their mother seemed to be in on. Or at least that’s what Mahone and Creepy Billy Kim thought. Just as Michael and Linc were cornered, guns pointing at them from both sides by Mahone and Kellerman, Kellerman shocked us all when he pulled the trigger and shot Mahone. Oh snap!
Tonight’s episode picks up just as we left off, still in the tunnel and Linc and Michael with those ‘WTF just happened’ faces still in tact. As expected they’re a bit hesitant to follow Kellerman’s lead as they don’t know who the hell he is (which I kind of forgot), but the po’lice are just seconds away and they have no choice but to go with the man that just saved their lives. And that my friends, is the set-up for tonight’s action packed episode. The ep follows Kellerman, Burrows and Scofield in the hours after their first in-tunnel encounter. I loved watching these three interact on screen. Paul Adelstein’s portrayal of Kellerman is so damn good I found myself pulling for him despite the asshatic (yes, that’s my new word) things he has done in the name of The Company.
Checking in with the other Fox River escapees…
C-Note’s wife was arrested while picking up medication for her daughter. As it turns out, she was denied bail and she is going to jail for aiding and abetting a convict. C-Note offers to turn himself in, but she says no as their daughter DeeDee would be left parentless. Something tell me this woman has listened to Tammy Wynette’s ‘Stand by Your Man’ one too many times.
T-Bag finally found Mrs. Hollander, the woman who he was involved with before he was sent to Fox River. Remember her…she was the woman who spat in his face while he was in jail, and he vowed to find her when he got out. Well, T-Bag is a man of his word. He has found Mrs. Hollander, and her kids (who still think he’s fun old Uncle Teddy). T-Bag is beyond creepy as he tries to settle back into the lives of the Hollander family. It’s sad and desperate and I had chills every time he went near one of the kids. But the Cleavers they are not, and things soon turn even darker for the bunch.
Back over at Fox River, Bellick isn’t making any new friends in the pen. And let’s just say that you NEED friends in there. Uh oh, Brad. Karma’s a bitch, ain’t it?!
I want you all to watch the show, so I purposely didn’t want to spill too much. But know this – tonight is a VERY important episode. Questions are answered but even more are raised. And something BIG goes down in the last few minutes…something that has a major impact on the lives of Linc and Michael. Ruh Roh!!
Here are a few pics from tonight’s episode:

Battlestar Galactica: Cliffs Notes Version

Listen up because we need to talk. Come on now…focus. I promise you that once you read my little opening here I will let you go and you can continue looking for your Office gossip, Grey’s Anatomy news, or whatever else brought you to GMMR today. But I need your attention for just a minute to talk to you about Battlestar Galactica. Hey…hey…don’t leave. Just sit, this will just take a minute.
Now listen, I resisted Battlestar Galactica (BSG) for years. Despite critics and trusted TV addicts saying the show was the best of the best of TV, I still hesitated. Why? That’s easy – I HATE Sci Fi. A Star Wars geek, or Trekkie…yeah, SOOOO not me. But one fateful day last summer, I stumbled across “Battlestar Galactica: The Story So Far” (available for FREE on iTunes) which was a 45 minutes recap of the show to date, and let me tell you…I. Was. Hooked. I mean seriously hooked. BSG was so different than what I expected. It was deep and engaging and by the end of the show I was so engrossed with the story and characters that I stared recording every episode that aired. I gave it a shot and now I’m rewarded by some pretty amazing television. But most importantly BSG introduced me to the word “FRAK” – the profanity of the future. And my life just hasn’t been the same.
Hopefully by now you know that I wouldn’t steer you in the wrong direction. BSG is worth the space on your TiVo and I’m just asking that you give it a shot.
To that end, our in-house BSG recapper, Jo, put together a little Cliffs Notes version of BSG for you newbies. Give it a read. At the very least it might help you better understand what the frak the people are talking about on The Office, Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars. This is just meant as an overview and it certainly won’t make you a BSG expert, but I’ve provided some links that will really helpful in letting you delve a bit deeper if you so wish.
Now I’m going to turn it over to Jo…
************************************************************************************************
If you’re like me, you don’t like jumping into the middle of a series. You don’t know the characters or anything about their pasts. But Battlestar Galactica needs you! It’s the sci fi show so based in reality it leaves your mind numb. And now it’s in danger of ending too soon! That’s where you come in.
So here are some cliff notes to let you get started until you can catch up on DVD or iTunes. Meanwhile tune in to Battlestar Galactica this Sunday at 10/9c on The Sci Fi Channel
BASIC PLOT
The Cylons were created by the people of the Twelve Colonies. Intelligent robots, they were used as slaves and soldiers to fight humanity’s wars. But the Cylons became sentient and they rebelled. The Cylons eventually disappeared but returned with a vengeance, and in an effort to wipe out humanity they nuked the planet Caprica. Only those on board starships were able to survive the blast. Now fewer than 50,000 people represent the remainder of the human race. The survivors, led by the Battlestar Galactica are caught in a perpetual cat and mouse game with the Cylons who are still bent of annihilating the human race.
The BSG survivors struggled with their dwindling food and water supplies, the perils of space travel and serious cabin fever. To keep the fleet from killing each other, Adama informed everyone there was a light at the end of the tunnel (so to speak)…the planet “Earth”, a mythical lost colony of humans.
On their journey to find Earth, they discovered another planet that could sustain human life. Adama and President Roslin didn’t want to stop for fear the Cylons would find them. The survivors, desperate to settle, elected Gaius Baltar president on his promise to build a home on New Caprica.
Fast forward to one year later and the Cylons have found and occupied New Caprica. Adama and those few who remained on Galatica escaped. Those who were settled on New Caprica now faced a desperate and bleak existence ruled by the Cylons. Adama and the Galatica crew executed an elaborate plan and successfully rescued the humans left behind on New Caprica.
With the fleet reunited, the humans and Cylons are in a race to interpret the ancient scriptures that lead to Earth.

Former Felicity star Keri Russell is pregnant. And according to reports we are to believe that the baby’s father is Keri’s fiance Shane Deary and NOT Ben or Noel (yeah, likely story.)
Keri and Shane will welcome their first child this summer, according to Russell’s rep, Jill Fritzo.
Russell and Deary have been dating for several years and were engaged to be married last year. No wedding date has been set, Fritzo says.

Comments Off on Grey’s Episode Hits Close to Home for Writer
Each week, after the lastest epsiode of Grey’s Anatomy airs, the writer or writers responsible for the episode are required by show runner Shonda Rhimes to go online to www.greyswriters.com and write about the story behind the story. What was going on while shooting? What the inspiration by the characters actions? Behind the scenes stuff…the stuff I personally love.
After the emotionally charged “Six Days: (Parts 1&2) I was anxious to read the back story. I had no idea how deeply personal this particular episode was to its writer Krista Vernoff. Read an excerpt below. I think I may have cried more reading the blog entry than during the show last night…and that’s saying a lot.
Krista Vernoff on life, death, and “Six Days, Part 2”
The card at the end of this hour of TV that read “In memory of Bob Verne” was a tribute to my father. He died six years ago at the age of 56 after a very short battle with esophageal cancer. He called me one day at my office at Charmed and told me he thought he had the flu. A week after that he had surgery on a massive tumor at the base of his esophagus. Before the surgery he was laughing and celebrating with family. He had a profoundly positive attitude. After the surgery, he had a massive scar down his belly and was intubated and pale, and upon seeing him, I, who thought of myself as quite strong and educated and capable of handling that moment, started to shake and then hyperventilate and had to be helped out of the room.
During the week we waited for him to recover, we learned that kidney function was of the utmost importance and I became obsessed, absolutely obsessed with his urine output. I checked that urine bag like 50 times a day.
At one point, the doctors gathered the family to tell us that my Dad had a kink in his breathing tube and that they might not be able to get a new one in. They told us we needed to prepare ourselves for the possibility that this was it. We stood out in the hallway and waited, holding our breath, terrified. There was another family there in the hallway, the family of a 16 year old boy who’d been shot on the street on his way home from work in what was feared to be gang related violence, though his family insisted that he was a good kid, that he wasn’t in any gang. They were as scared as we were as they waited for news of condition. We talked to them for awhile, made small talk, then fell silent. And after a long, pregnant pause, one of the teenagers of the family looked over at a member of my family with a very disturbed look on his face. And then he said “Dang. Somebody just farted. And I think it’s this old white guy right here.” My family laughed harder than we have ever laughed in our lives. And my dad lived through the reintubation.
He lived for three more days.
And if you need more of a kick to the heart, listen to Krista talking about the episode during this week’s Grey’s Anatomy podcast here
My Name is Earl…Words to Live By

The best quotes of the night went to My Name is Earl. In the episode Earl was trying to throw a proper funeral for a guy he didn’t really know. It seemed like the guy had no friends. Earl soon found out that he did indeed have friends…a lot of them…his online friends. And he talked about really interesting things online:
“No, I don’t think more shows should do meta jokes that cater to the online bloggers and I’m sure everyone at TelevisionWithoutPity.com agrees with me.”
His online friends gathered for his funeral, and said some heartfelt parting words.
“Man, Josh could always make me LOL. I would always be ROTFLMAO. And he was always there when you needed him. He would never give you a BRB or an AFK.”
…so funny!!!
