CBS? WTF!!!
February 18, 2007 by Kath Skerry
I’m a little fired up right now. I’d like to know the brainiac at CBS that decided it was ok to show The Amazing Race All Stars edition a good 30 minutes after it was supposed to start?! Um, I’m not sure if you realize it or not, but there’s this invention called the DVR, and a bunch of TV watchers use it. So when a show is schedule to start at 8pm and it doesn’t start until 8:27pm, then your viewers using the aforementioned recording device miss half the GD episode. You know, this happened ALL the time during football season. Most nights I didn’t get to see the ending of The Amazing Race because it started too late, but this is getting ridiculous.
If this happened to you and you are pissed, please leave a comment below. I’m writing my CBS reps today to see if I can get an answer to this one.

GMMR – the same thing happened to me!!! I am so pissed. I shouldn’t have to set my DVR to record my show 45 minutes after it is suppose to end. If CBS can’t figure this out I’m not going to watch anymore.
I just started watching a few minutes ago. Do you mean it’s going to end before I get to see the end. Do you think CBS will play it again?
There was a golf tournament on CBS before the Amazing Race and it was supposed to end at 6, but the tournament was tied at the end and they had to play something like four extra holes. So all of this pushed 60 Minutes back a half hour and that in turn pushed the Amazing Race back a half hour.
The golf tornament was an extra hour! I was so pissed. I did figure out the ending from a friend though.
I knew the golf tournament was going to push TAR back, I just knew it. But don’t they have these sporting events every Sunday? Why do they put a reality show on after? The ending matter. the ending of 60 minutes doesn’t matter. Cut 60 minutes in half and give me the whole episode of TAR. Great now I have no idea who was eliminated.
Anyone know what happened in the 2nd half? For me the ep cut off right after they got those menus from the restaurant?
yep, happened to me too and I am ANNOYED. What happened in the second half?
Hey K, I’d be pissed if I hadn’t realized what was happening but I suspect CBS gets good money for their sports adverts so I suspect that’s why they’d OK it. In case you, or any of your readers, need to know what happened, I spoil (transcribe) the show for TV Clubhouse. It’s not the same was watching but will fill people in on what happened. Here’s the link!
GMMR! – I feel you on this one! Ugh and this always happened last season, so i had to start recording ‘Cold Case’ so I would’nt miss the show! Why do they do that?? I mean it’s one of the best shows on the network! I hope I can find the rest on the internet somewhere. And just wanted to tell you that your site is DAWSOME!!!
It’s getting annoying to have this happen. I think it’s been like this for at least the last couple seasons. CBS needs to figure out how to not let live sports events take over the evening schedule. It’s a little ridiculous not to realize that it’s hurting the show’s audience by doing so. Annoying!
Is that an east coast thing? Because after I read this but before watching i fast forwarded thru what the dvr recorded just to see if it missed anything and I have the whole ep. I’m in California- thank goodness it didn’t happent to me but hopefully they will repeat it for the rest of you.
What’s especially annoying is if you happen to go to the official website to see if maybe they’re offering an apology and a chance to watch the episode online, the first thing you see is a large shot of the first eliminated team and a description of next week’s episode. What the hell, CBS?
I had already e-mailed the cbs website last night while 60 Min. was running. I still don’t understand why (since 60 Min. is a series of segments) they couldn’t just drop a few segments and have that be where they made up time. Ugh!
I guess I am used to it with CBS and my 60 Minutes SP is set to record an hour longer. I don’t watch TAR but 60 Minutes is a very important show in the culture of America and should be watched especially by more young Americans.
Some other message boards setting up a manual pass for CBS on Sunday’s from 8PM-12AM just to make sure you don’t miss anything. Also in case you do I think CBS has everything available on their innertube site right after the show airs.
So upset!! Happened to all 3 of my sisters too! Just wrong. I was told this happens a lot on Sundays due to sports and to just record Cold Case too just in case. how annoying!
Put me down in the “Ending Missed – and I’m Pissed” column. I went online to the “Innertube” to see if they were airing the episode, but they are currently not doing so. I just read the recap to find out what happened. LUCKILY, this was only the first episode. If this had happened near the end of the season, I’d REALLY be fired up.
This happened all last season for me too. My tv and other guides showed Amazing Race starting at 7p.m., but no 60 minutes runs over all the time. It made me pretty much miss and not care about the last season because CBS was guaranteed to screw it up. I don’t one episode last season started at 7p.m. ever. I agree that they are definitely hurting TAR’s fan base with this constant crap.
