The O.C. featuring The Office & Veronica Mars

Last night I was catching up on this week’s episode of The O.C. (sorry Schwartz but I had to TiVo it) when all of a sudden I got that familiar feeling of ‘hey, I know that guy from somewhere’. Actually it happened twice.
First up…an Office/O.C. moment. There was this whole plot line with a psychic telling Summer that her life would be affected by someone named George. Long story short, George wasn’t a guy, but rather an environment agency that wanted to hire Summer after reading her blog (Summer, a blogger? Love it) . A rep from G.E.O.R.G.E. came to visit summer and he was played by none other than Cousin Mose himself, Mike Schur. Schur, who is best known to fans of The Office as Dwight’s creepy Cousin Mose and more importantly as the writer of classic eps such as “Christmas Party” and “Office Olympics” is married to The O.C. writer, J.J. Phiblin (daughter of Regis and Joy).
I did a triple take when he came on-screen. I was quite proud of myself for noticing Schur’s brief cameo, but then again I was never in doubt of my Office addiction. Since he wasn’t listed in the credits I couldn’t be 100% sure, so I called up my trusted friend (and OC expert) Sonny from Silly Pipe Dreams, who went ahead and got it confirmed directly from the source.
But Mike Schur wasn’t the only familiar face showing up last night. During the Sandy/Kirsten Berkley flashback scenes, the young Sandy Cohen was played by Max Greenfield, whom Veronica Mars fans know all too well as Veronica’s ex-boyfriend, Deputy Leo D’amto.
Small world. Just thought I would share.

The Office, Grey’s Anatomy Redux

If you missed last night’s episode of The Office or Grey’s Anatomy you might want to stop reading and check back in after you’ve watched to avoid being spoiled.
A full lineup of Thursday night TV and I only managed to watch 2 shows. Just The Office and Grey’s Anatomy found their way on to my TV tonight. Which means that I have a great weekend ahead catching up with Scrubs, The O.C. and Ugly Betty (it’s like 2nd Thursday). Anyway, today is my last day at my current job, so I have to get to work a little early and won’t have too much time to blog, but I thought I would share my 6 AM thoughts on the shows I did manage to catch (6 AM thoughts is my way of apologizing for my non-coherent rants).
A lesson to all you kid out there. Don’t drink and TiVo…you might end up accidentally deleting your favorite show after only one viewing. Yup, that’s what happened to me last night, and I’m kickin’ myself this morning.
Based on my first viewing of last night’s episode, “Ben Franklin”, I decided that it was my least favorite episode ever. I don’t remember laughing out loud that much and I didn’t automatically love it the way I love every episode of The Office. That being said, I’ve spend some time reading reviews and comments over at OfficeTally.com and DuckyxDale.com and all the quotes were hysterical. I think I may have judged “Ben Franklin” to harshly and too early. All this from someone that preaches that the show MUST be watched more than once. I promise to download it from iTunes today and give it the proper viewing it deserves.
Those of you who watched the show over with me at BuddyTV.com know that I wasn’t at my personal best last night. The cocktails I had before joining the chat may have affected what I was watching. So I have a HUGE question for you. Last night, Karen and Jim both had TH’s focused on their recent late nights. Jim mentioned something about how they had stayed up late talking the night before, and the night before that and the previous 5 nights. Here’s my question….did you all think that they were actually “talking” and Jim was almost complaining about it, or did you think “talking” was a euphemism for them getting it on? In my drunken stupor I thought Jim was talking about sex, and therefore it COMPLETELY changed my outlook on the whole episode. If he WAS talking about “talking” then he seemed almost annoyed. And that coupled with Karen’s WTF moment of going over and hugging him at his desk midday (I mean really) is setting her up for some Krazy!Karen moments. I totally need to know how you all interpreted that scene.
Update: I just read a bunch of the comments and can i just say THANK YOU!! Imagine me going through the whole ep, the rest of the night and this morning thinking that Jam was gloating about having a bunch ‘o sex with Karen?! I feel 1000% better now. And now that I finally get all of this, um, her hug was that much more PSYCHO, as was declaring that she was Jim’s girlfriend.
Callie and George are married?! Yeah, even with the proposal last week I didn’t see that one coming. WOW! I’m not sure how I feel about George and Callie O’Malley (he). They are my two favorite people on the show and I should be happy for them, but something just doesn’t seem right. I mean, it’s just a little too quick and a tad bit too close to the death of George’s father. Oh and I SO don’t understand why the girls are still catty with Callie. I thought we crossed that bridge awhile ago. And Callie has some major issues to work through with the girls. She can’t be paranoid about them all the time. That being said, it was nice of George to stand up for his wife and put her before his friends for a change…something that Callie had been asking for since they first started dating.
I wasn’t that into the whole toxic blood storyline last night. I thought it was a little ER-ish and I don’t mean that as a compliment. The doctors dropping like flies, and the interns running in at 20 second intervals to save the woman’s life. I don’t know, maybe it was the booze numbing my senses but I was kind of eh about the whole thing.
So poof! the free Denny Duquette Free Clinic is open. Oh come on now. Whatevs, it’s open and no on is there. My bigger concern? Is running the clinic Bailey’s job now? Because seriously I want that woman walking the floor and screaming at some interns…now…NOW!!
Actually my senses couldn’t have been that numb last night because I found myself fighting tears during the climactic scene between Meredith and her mother, Ellis. Yes, I cried during a Meredith scene! Ellen Pompeo did her best acting to date as she told her mother that SHE was the reason that Meredith wasn’t the person she expected her to be. Some seriously great acting last night from Pompeo and Kate Burton (Ellis).
And finally…Burke and Christina. Yeah so they are engaged. And the scene when they both jumped up and started screaming in excitement was kind of cool, but things are just a bit too raw, and I’m not ready to be super excited about Dr. Burke these days.
Penny for your thought… So….what did you watch last night? I’d love to hear your thoughts on The Office and Grey’s Anatomy. I’d LOVE to hear your thoughts on The O.C., Ugly Betty, and Scrubs too but NOT here….kindly leave your comments for those show in the GMMR Forums (so I can go in and read them later without being spoiled).

The Office Thursday on Give Me My Remote (UPDATED)

For the love of Jim Halpert, it seems like it’s been forever since we’ve have a new episode of The Office. Yeah, I know, it hasn’t been that long, but it feels that way, right? We’ve got a whole bunch of Office gossip today! This took me forever to pull together, but it’s Thursday…and it’s The Office…and it’s done from love. As always, check this post throughout the day as I’ll be updating it with new stuff if it comes my way.
Get Ready for Some Serious Groveling…
Alrighty then, before we get started I have a HUGE request. Give me a minute to get down on my hands and knees to start begging. Depsite being a paying member of the Museum Television and Radio organization, I was shut out of getting tickets to The Office panel at the upcoming Paley Festival. I was planning on meeting Tanster from Office Tally, as well as Officeianados Tori and Wendy in LA just for the event. If for some reason YOU got tickets and are interested in selling them, PLEASE PLEASE let me know. And if you are an Office cast member with some tickets to spare I would love you forever if you felt like giving some away.
(Also looking for tickets to the HEROES panel and the UGLY BETTY panel, but I think you know what my top priority is)
You Have Won a Tiny Dundie…
As I’m sure you all know by now, this past week The Office took home the Dundie SAG award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. The SAG award might not hold the same prestige as the Emmy, but it’s my favorite as it honors the entire cast. The Office is at its best when all of the cast members get to show their stuff so it was such a thrill to see them all on stage. If you want to relive the night then GMMR has got you covered. (The Office SAG award coverage – pics and video)
Go behind the scenes with John, Jenna, BJ, Rainn and Leslie in a new post-SAG interview on TV Guide. (SPOILER ALERT…and let me just say SQUEE)
Tonight on The Office…
“Ben Franklin” (8:30 pm EST)
Todd Packer is back (YAY), and being the fool that he is, he encourages Michael to bring two “adult” performers into the office — a stripper and Ben Franklin — in honor of Phyllis’s wedding shower. Meanwhile Karen confronts Pam about her past with Jim. Rumor has it that the fight gets heated and ends up with Karen and Pam wrestling naked (and that, my friends, was my attempt at trying to bring in more viewers.) Four clips have been released for tonight’s show, and yes, I watched them. I know I said I wasn’t going to anymore, but cut me some slack, it’s been 2 weeks since a new ep and I needed a fix. (TV.com clips)
LIVE Office Chat TONIGHT…
How I’ve missed you all. Tonight we will be chatting up before, during and after the show at our weekly Office chat over at BuddyTV.com. We usually get started around 8pm/EST so make sure you swing by and say hi. Stop by once and you’ll never be able to watch the show without your online friends again. Click here to set a reminder for the Office chat.
Dear Pam Beesly…
The Baltimore Sun send a letter to Pam asking her the questions that we all want answers to:
To: Pam Beesly
From: Not Jim Halpert
Subject: NBC’s “The Office”Here goes.
I’m just going to throw this out there, Pam.
I know your life is complicated. You didn’t marry Roy. You still like Jim. Who doesn’t like Jim? I’m even starting to like Roy. Your ex-fiance has cleaned up his act this season.Question: Will you go back to him? Or, finally, will you profess your love for Jim? Will Jim finally shed what’s-her-name? What is her name? Karen? The new cookie? (continue reading)
More Office Thursday after the jump…
