Technical Difficulties

Sorry I’ve been MIA a lot over the past few days.  I am having some MAJOR internet issues at my new place.  I can’t seem to be able to stay online for more than 1 minute at a time.  It’s so frustrating, especially given that I work from home and I feel like an asshat for having to tell my boss that I can’t get online – again.  It sucks.  They are supposedly coming by to check out the connection today, but who knows when they will be there.  I wanted to let you all know that this is why GMMR has been pretty quiet over the past few days.  Right now I’m at my local Starbucks sittting on the floor in the corner (this place is busy today).  I’m going to have to head back home soon and wait for the cable guy.  Welcome to my life!!

Hopefully my internet will be back later today.  I have a good amount of work to catch up on (for my real job) so I’ll be working this weekend, and I’ll be updating GMMR too.

Thanks for your patience and for all the kind emails!

The Office Thursday on Give Me My Remote

We are T-minus one week away from an all new episode of The Office. To get us properly excited for next week’s show, your favorite and mine – Paul Lieberstein – will be hosting an Office marathon tonight. I’m so excited to go back and revisit some of my favorite episodes. If you are a spoiler whore (like myself) then check out Yahoo! TV for scenes from next week’s all new ep.

On a sadder note, I believe Season 3 of The Office has officially wrapped. What a long strange trip its been. It’s sad to think that the Dunder Mifflinites aren’t on set filming new episodes for us Even more scary is the prospect that the Season 3 fate of Jim and Pam is known to a select few. Since John wrapped earlier than most of the cast whatever goes down with JAM has been set in stone. To Greg Daniels and crew…we dealt with Stamford, we dealt with Karen (when we thought she would be gone after 10 eps), and we even dealt with Pam briefly returning to Roy. We’ve stuck by you all season so please give us a happy ending to help us get through the summer. That is all.

On to The Office Thursday where Michael Scott is the funniest man alive and where comments are like the coins Dwight puts into the vending maching to get his desk supplies back.

Tonight on The Office…
Toby MARATHON! Toby (Paul Lieberstein) hosts an Office marathon featuring some of the worst HR nightmares from Dunder Mifflin (that had to be a tough choice):

Diversity Day (the show that started by insane love for all things Dunder Mifflin)
Despite creating the need for a diversity seminar, Michael feels he’s the best candidate to run one, which he does after the facilitator leaves.Health Care (because Meredith still has a vagina)
Michael promises a surprise to distract the troops from Dwight’s dictatorial choosing of a cut-rate health-care plan

Sexual Harassment (Phyllis and her one night stand – what a floozy)
Michael fears a review of the company’s sexual-harassment policies will curb the conviviality that he believes exists in the office.

The Injury (you burnt YOUR foot on a George Foreman grill)
Michael tries to get extra sympathy from his staff after he burns his foot on a portable cooking grill. Dwight emerges as the primary caregiver—to Michael’s chagrin.

Gay Witch Hunt (we meet Karen and Andy while my heart breaks for Jam)
A sensitivity firestorm ensues when Michael heedlessly outs a gay Dunder Mifflin employee. Meanwhile, some details about Jim and Pam’s complicated relationship come to light.

Evan Almighty…
Evan Almighty The long awaited trailer for Steve Carell’s new blockbuster comedy, Evan Almighty, is going to premiere tonight during The Office marathon. Not sure when it’s going to run, but you’ll be watching the whole marathon anyway, so I’m sure you’ll catch it.

From the Desk of Meredith Palmer…
meredith1.jpgAlright STOP, collaborate and listen Kate is back with a brand new…um, blog? Yes she is. Kate doesn’t have any inside scoop on the upcoming episodes but we do find out how she spends her free time – going to big movie premieres and handing out awards. If you are in Los Angeles, then head over to IO West and check out Kate in The Lampshades on April 7th – you’ll have a blast. (Kate’s Blog)

Blades of Glory Premiere…
Jenna Fischer’s new movie Blades of Glory had its L.A. premiere last night, and most of the Scranton branch was there to support her. This movie is going to be huge and I’m so excited for Jenna. We are so happy for you Fancy New Beesly!! Check out some pics from the premiere.

I also stumbled upon this video from last night’s premiere. It’s poorly produced and not all that entertaining, but it does feature the cast of The Office so it’s worth checking out.

A Title for the Grey’s Anatomy Spin-off

Kate Walsh, Grey's Anatomy Spin Off

Someone at ABC has leaked the title for the upcoming Grey’s Anatomy spin-off. Are you ready? Are you sure? Ok here we go. Drum roll please….it’s Private Practice*. Ugh, my thoughts exactly. I don’t know what goes into naming a show, but I think someone needs to hit that 30 second rewind button on the TiVo and try again. To me, Private Practice screams cheesy soap opera. Am I wrong? Then again, does the title of the show really matter?

News of the title came via our friends over at BuddyTV who also mentioned that the ABC big wigs cautioned that the title is only tentative and may change (they’ve got to test it with the public first I’m sure).

Kate Walsh will be leading the cast of Private Practice which includes Tim Daly (The Nine), Taye Diggs (Rent), Amy Brennerman (Judging Amy), Chris Lowell (Veronica Mars) among others.

“The spin off is being touted for its stand alone premise that will take Walsh’s character out of the realm of nightmarish medical emergencies and incorporated hospital trysts into a setting they think less hardcore medical drama fans will appreciate. In that sense, the proposed name for the Grey’s Anatomy spin off is quite apt, indeed.”

No word on when Private Practice will premiere on the ABC schedule, but the premise and perhaps some of the characters will be introduced during the 2 hour Grey’s Anatomy season finale on May 10.

Let’s hear it. Private Practice. Love it or hate it?!

As predicted in today’s “Watchlist” there was a screw up with my DVR and Friday Night Lights didn’t record.  Nor did American Idol.  Great…just great.  The only thing that could make this night worse was if I find out that Sanjaya was staying around another week.  Oh damn 🙁

I’ve received a bunch of emails telling me how fantastic Friday Night Lights was tonight. Please don’t spoil me.  I beg of you.  I plan on watching tonight’s episode on NBC.com tomorrow.   Ugh…this blows.

Supernatural Fans Should Be Afraid

Maybe Supernatural fans shouldn’t be afraid for themselves but rather for Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles. Why? Because my boy Ducky is going to be ravishing them with his eyes on Thursday when he spends the day on the set of the show. Yes, the Duckster will be there as they shoot the part II of the season finale. I’m sure he will be on his best behavior. Rumor has it that Jeffrey Dean Morgan will be there as well. I’ve never watched the show (it’s too spooky for me), but I have seen Jared and Jensen in person and those two boys are fine with a capital hot as hell. And JDM…I mean Denny?! Come one now, you know my love for him.

And you wonder why the GMMR|Ducky podcasts are so sporadic…the boy is so bust hobnobbing with the stars.

Ok maybe I’m not heading into a deluxe apartment in the sky but I did move into a new apartment yesterday. In case you are thinking about moving – don’t. It’s a horrible and exhausting experience even if you had fabulous movers like I did. The whole day sucked (except of course when I got flowers delivered from Ducky. How CUTE is he?!)

But the move is the reason that GMMR was quiet yesterday and will be for some of today. See I have priorities and planned ahead by insisting that my TV and internet be set up yesterday. Unfortunately there were some installation issues and the guy won’t be coming back until later today (between 11-5…they do make it convenient don’t they).  I missed American Idol House – everything, but I did get in some reading (it’s highly overrated). I’m at Starbucks right now blogging – I’m such a cliche. Ha ha.

As soon as I can get back online I’ll be sure be back to posting. Meanwhile, I’m going to leave you in the capable hands of my best blogging buddies. And as always, if you come across some interesting TV news, make sure you drop me a line and let me know all about it.

Search Slacking…
If you are really looking to procrastinate, you should do what I do when I’m slacking and use the search box below to look for your favorite celebs or TV shows online.  WARNING – it can be addictive. Just enter a name and use the “On TV” button to find out upcoming TV appearances for that celeb or show. Use the “On Video” button to look for videos of that celeb or show online from sources such as YouTube, Daily Motion, Veoh et cetera (Community Video) as well vids directly from the networks (Network Video).  I think it’s a cool tool and I’ve been using it on GMMR for some time now, but I just realized I really never told you what it does. Try it out…if you like it then I’ll keep using it. If you don’t like it, let me know about that too.

House Recap: “Top Secret

Title: “Top Secret”

GMMR Recapper: LaLa

Ok, so I know this has nothing to do with the show, but I cannot start a recap of an episode with this title without a giving a brief shout out to one of my all time favorite silly comedies from the 80’s, “Top Secret”. Oh, how I love that wonderfully absurd little movie, starring a very young Val Kilmer as an Elvis-type rock star getting into trouble with Nazis. But of course, I completely digress.

Or… do I? That movie had some wacky dream sequences, and of course, in this episode of House, our favorite cranky doc was having some pretty wild dreams of his own. Maybe I missed something, but I didn’t feel like they ever really explained why House was having premonitions about people and events before they happened, or why it was causing House to not be able to pee for 3 days straight. By the way, this show always finds a way to do at least one disturbing and gross thing per episode and this one was no exception, what with House having to catheterize himself in order to finally pee. And then with the urine everywhere…. Yuck. Sorry House, I don’t care what you say, but falling into a puddle of urine IS a big deal and really really gross. Blech.

24 Recap: Day 6, 8:00 – 9:00pm

LaLa wrote a fantastic and timely recap of Monday’s episode of 24, but since I didn’t have access to GMMR yesterday I’m just getting around to posting it now…sorry.

Title: 8:00 – 9:00pm
Original Airdate: 3/26/07
GMMR Recapper: LaLa

Don’t you hate it when, right after you’ve woken up out of a life threatening coma just in time to stop a totally unjustified and constitutionally illegal U.S. Military strike against the Middle East, your gosh darn, ridiculously evil Vice President decides to try to destroy you and remove you from office as a result? Ain’t that just a kicker? Yeah, if you read my column for last week’s episode, you already know how I feel about Demon Daniels and his totally one-dimensional, absurd chicanery which no sane Presidential Cabinet would go along with because it’s incredibly illegal. So, that being said again, let’s move on to the other parts of this episode that weren’t completely preposterous. (although, I can’t leave without mentioning Jack’s reaction to hearing what Demon Daniels wanted to do: “What, is he trying to start World War 3?!” Thank you, Captain State the Obvious!)

Prison Break Recap: Fin del Camino

March 27, 2007 by
Filed under Prison Break, Prison Break Recap

Michelle really outdoes herself with this week’s recap. I was laughing my ass off. Well played. Only one more week until the season finale. Ugh, I really hate this time of year.

Title: “Fin del Camino”
Original Airdate: March 26, 2007
GMMR Recapper: Michelle

Would you be impressed if I were able to write the entire recap for this episode all in the form of a series of questions? Isn’t it a rather appropriate tribute for a show that has left us guessing, in a good way, for every episode this season? Do you think I can do it? Will you be too annoyed by the format to read it? Can I allow this negative assumption to get in the way of my creative process?

Why is T-Bag in Panama? Why won’t Michael’s conscience let him rest so he doesn’t feel the need to leave his boat and his brother on a quest for T-Bag? Doesn’t Lincoln know that if he follows his brother, bad things are bound to happen? When Michael tracks T-Bag to the hotel, how much does he have to pay the little kid to set off the caps in the metal garbage can so he can fake out the “Feds” who are trailing T-Bag and make them reveal their guns when they mistake the exploding cap sounds for gunshots? Does Sucre, who shows up later with Bellick and meets Michael, really believe that his desire to kill Bellick is stronger than his desire to find Maricruz, or that Upstanding Citizen Michael will really help him kill Bellick? What will T-Bag do when he is forced to leave his hotel room after Bellick pulls the fire alarm? When the Feds follow T-Bag, and Michael & Crew follow the feds, and Mahone follows all of them, and then Lincoln follows all of them, why does it remind me of some nursery school song? What is the name of that song, anyway? Why does an angry Lincoln tackle Mahone? Did you forget, like I did, that Mahone killed Lincoln’s dad earlier this season? Is this like “You killed my father, prepare to die,” a la “The Princess Bride”? Is Lincoln’s real last name Montoya? (GMMR: OMG I was thinking the exact same thing during this scene)

Katherine Heigl Goes Nuts in Grey’s Anatomy Gag Reel

March 26, 2007 by

Ha ha…funny stuff.  Someone just sent me this behind the scenes gag reel from Season 2 of Grey’s Anatomy.  Well, it’s not really a gag reel with bloopers or anything, but more of some fun behind the scenes with the crew of Grey’s.  But, in the last few minutes there’s a pretty funny skit with Katherine Heigl losing her s%$t and dropping the F bomb all over Seattle Grace in mock anger. He he.

Battlestar Galactica Cast

(WARNING! The following contains spoilers for last night’s season final of Battlestar Galactica. STOP reading if you haven’t yet watched it)

I’ve been VERY Battlestar Galactica focused today. Last night’s season finale was so good I can’t stop thinking about it. Many questions were raised and some were even answered when Kristin Veitch called up BSG creator Ronald D. Moore today and flat out asked him about last night’s twists and turns.

So will Starbuck be back for reals? Are the Cylons that were revealed last night actually Cylons? Will Bill and Laura be swapping spit in Season 4? . Here’s a sampling of Krisin’s chat with Ron Moore. Click here for the full interview.

The identities of the four Cylons are so shocking! Tory’s always been a little iffy, but the loyalties of Anders, Tigh and the Chief seemed beyond question, and they led the resistance on New Caprica. None of them were the usual suspects. Is there any sort of relationship between that sort of human loyalty and their Cylonity?
Moore: I don’t know that it’s directly connected. If you’re asking if that was part of the plan to have them take that cover, then no. They’re very much unaware of how they could be Cylons, they’re confused by the knowledge, and they don’t have an agenda. It’s not the same as when Sharon was a Cylon—they haven’t been to the Cylon parties. All they really know is they’re Cylons. They have this revelation to themselves of what their true nature is, but beyond that they have no idea what the agenda is or if they have an agenda or how this could have happened. They’re very much in the dark, much like the audience is.

And just because there will be debate, can you confirm that they are Cylons?

Moore: Yes, they’re Cylons.

Save One Show – Vote Now

March 26, 2007 by

Every year E! Online’s Kristin Veitch issues a call to TV fans everywhere to help save ONE show that’s on the verge of getting the ax. Believe it or not this award actually holds some clout in the TV world because it comes from the fans. I’m not sure anything is going to save Studio 60, but I’m sure as hell going to try.

Check out the shows that are ‘on the bubble’ as they say. You can vote more than once, which is a good thing because making me choose between Veronica Mars, Friday Night Lights, and How I Met Your Mother is just cruel. Take a look at the shows, and then click here to vote.

I’ve also included a list of current shows that have received the early pickup from their respective networks.

Here are the shows that WILL and WON’T be getting my vote:

SAVE THIS SHOW!!!

30 Rock – I hear it’s great & I plan on playing catch up this summer. So I’ll vote for all of you GMMRers who love it.

Friday Night Lights – If I could vote for ONE and only ONE show…this would be it (http://www.fightforlights.com)

Gilmore Girls – You know I love me some Lorelai and Rory, but the fate of the show lies with the actresses and not the fans

How I Met Your Mother – Say it ain’t so. HIMYM is one of my favorites and a world without Barney is just wrong. Vote!!!

Scrubs – This is a damn funny show. Sadly we live in a world where “Two and a Half Men” and “According to Jim” get better ratings than Scrubs, so the show needs all the help it can get.

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip – The show is a bit of a mess, that much I’ll agree with. But I have faith that it can be turned around. I’m not willing to give up on it just yet. Hopefully NBC isn’t either.

Supernatural – I don’t watch this one, but Ducky does so I will vote once for him.

Veronica Mars
– College student, FBI agent, hooker with a raging drug habit – I don’t care HOW Veronica Mars comes back as long as she’s back next season (oh and with Dick and Logan in tow please)

The second season draws to a close as Dave and Deena attempt to escape their sleepy town to renew their wedding vows. Alas, their plans go a little haywire, season finale style. Before we get started I wanted to take a minute to thank Jo for all her wonderful recaps this season. Week in and week out, I always looked forward to reading your take on what went down on Caprica (both old and New) as well as the Galactica. Based on the comments – I know others appreciated it too. So THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! I hope you’ll be back in 2008 (really…we have to wait that long?!)

-GMMR

Previously, Gaeta found a nebula that will lead them to Earth. Anders, Tigh and Tory were all hearing things. Baltar’s trial brought out the crazies, hurt feelings and old wounds.

Adama shaves. When the lights flicker, he cuts himself. Roslin calls on the phone. She asks him to yell at her to get out of bed. They are too cute. He yells twice before she giggles and decides to start her day.

What sounds like snoring is actually Tyrol humming. The same tune that’s haunting Tigh, Anders and Tory. Which makes FOUR of the resistance leaders tripping out. Speaking of Anders and Tory, they’re getting to know each other. You know, in a lock room unclothed way. Seelix knocks and then is ticked about Anders. Honey, get in line. Tyrol wanders down the hall listening to the music.

Defense meeting. Apollo suggests motioning for a mistrial. He tells Badger that Adama called Baltar a traitor and didn’t deserve a trial. Baltar is livid because he doesn’t want to go through another trial. Apollo quotes from his grandfather’s book about their chances of winning the second trial.

Deck. Racetrack lectures the nuggets on Raptors. Except Anders hears Tyrol humming the Trippy Tune. He mentions to the Chief that he hears it too. They agree it’s like a phantom memory like from childhood. They can hear only part of it, stuck in their head.
