The Office Thursday on Give Me My Remote
March 15, 2007 by Kath Skerry
Don’t blame me for a shorter than usual Office Thursday. Blame the folks over at NBC that have us in reruns (or variations thereof) until April 5th. There’s not a ton of Office gossip, but you know how this works…what’s mine is yours. It seems that the ladies of Dunder Mifflin are ruling the headlines these days. Nice work! In the immortal words of Fergie “Let’s get it started”
Tonight on The Office…
“Traveling Salesmen & The Return” – Special 1 hour “Newpeat”
The Office producers know the fans hate all these damn repeats so tonight they’re trying out a little something new – a spin on the repeat called the “newpeat”. The previously aired “Traveling Salesmen” and “The Return” have been re-edited into an hour long episode complete with new scenes that will introduce a new storyline.
And why are TPTB doing this? Well it’s for those of us die hard Dunder Mifflinites that just need something…anything to tide us over until April 5th. “Their loyalty must be rewarded somehow, and we don’t have the budget to send out 10 million muffin baskets,” says Executive Producer Greg Daniels. Greg, although the muffin basket would be nice, I would be much happier if the “new” storyline you introduced had something to do with Jim breaking up with Karen and Pam declaring her love for Halpert. Too much of a stretch? A girl can dream.
The “Oval” Office …
I usually end The Office Thursday with the video of the week, but this one is so great I had to get right to it. So funny.

The Office Comics…
Check out these fantastic cartoons featuring our favorite show.
Michael & Oscar Kiss, Again…
If you missed it earlier this week when I posted a clip from The Office panel at The Paley Festival, then you definitely want to make some time to check out this short clip. Steve Carell does more than discuss the infamous kiss with Oscar Nunez in ‘Gay Witch Hunt’ – they reenact it. It was one of the funniest moments of the whole night. (Click here to watch)
Jenna Fischer Gets Groped…
Will Ferrell got to live out the dream of ever male GMMR reader while filming the upcoming “Blades of Glory”. Not only did he get to see Ms. Jenna Fischer in some serious lingerie, but he was paid to feel her up. Ferrell says of the sexy scene, “…I made sure we did over 1,000 takes, just to get the scene right. I wanted to workshop it at my house the day before, but she’s, like, ‘I think we’re good.’ “ (More on Jenna & Will’s scene here)
Angela Kinsey in Country Weekly…
We all know that Angela Kinsey is a Texas girl at heart. And like most good Texas girls she loves her country music. Her favorites? They include legends such as Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash. Listen, the woman has got good taste. (Full article here)
Rashida Jones is a World Class Beauty…
You know it. I know it. John Krasinski knows it. Rashida Jones is a ‘world class beauty’. MSN recently gave Ms. Jones this distinction and had this to say about The Office newbie: “The daughter of music mogul Quincy Jones and actress/model Peggy Lipton, Jones graduated from Harvard, then plied her smarts to a growing TV career, with memorable roles on “Boston Public” and “The Office.” She’s also focused on her singing, appearing on a Tupac tribute album and singing backup for Maroon 5. Music to our ears.” (See the gorgeous photo here)
On the Way to The Office…
OfficeTally.com shares a great article by Jenna Fischer in the latest Reader’s Digest where Jenna talks of her long journey (literally) to The Office. No air conditioning? No power windows? On a drive from St. Louis to Los Angeles? That’s just not right. I’m sure Jenna appreciate her “new” ride a little more now.(On the way to The Office)
More of John Krasinski in Leatherheads…
It’s not only the ladies making the news. John Krasinski is still working hard splitting him time between The Office and his lead role in the upcoming George Clooney movie Leatherheads. People keep sending me pics, and I would be a terrible, horrible person if I didn’t send them along. To my girls and my gays – don’t look at these pictures in a library or work or anywhere else where ‘squeeing’ would be unacceptable. (More on pics of John Krasinski from Leatherheads)
GMMR Loves The Office…
I think that statement gets a big old “D’uh”. My love for all things Dunder Mifflin was recently captured in an interview I did with Brian Howard for Remote Access. Brian pulls double duty as a writer for Remote Access and as a GMMR recapper for “30 Rock”. (Read more at “An Office Chat“)
And in case you’ve been living in Amish country without proper access to the internet, here are the links to all my articles about recent “Office” encounters in Los Angeles.

GMMR, thanks, as always, for a great Office Thursday post! I CANNOT wait to see Leatherheads. George and John? Fantastic. I may not survive the wait, and then I may pass out at the theater.
Office Thursday returns 🙂 Love it!
Thanks for Office Thursdays!! A couple more weeks until Blades of Glory!
Hurray, Office Thursday!
I got interviewed by Brian Howard last week – very nice guy, although I readily admit that you were faaaaar more eloquent than I was!
Oh Kath, thank you for that cartoon it’s hilarious!
Brian, great interview! and GMMR, hilarious answers!
Great interview Kath! You are such a blog celebrity! (a blog-brity? a celeblogger?)
Best. Video. Ever.
Pfft. Living in Amish Country doesn’t stop me.
Three more weeks, folks. Surely we can make it that long!
Great interview-you’ve got some mad interviewee skills.
Ahh! Office Thursday on GMMR. It’s a breath of fresh air 😉
Great interview. TGFOT – Thank Goodnes For Office Thursdays!

guys! you HAVE to vote for Dwight. he’s losing!
I loved the extra scenes in Traveling Salesmen tonight…especially the Jim/Pam scene at the end. So cute!
I love that cartoon. Too funny!
I’m so mad! My local station decided to stick with live news coverage of a railroad fire rather than switch to The Office. The dang fire started at 5:30pm! So they continued coverage until 8:30 – then showed Access Hollywood for a half hour – then NOTHING! NO OFFICE!! GRRR!!
