Battlestar Galactica Recap: Crossroads
March 19, 2007 by Kath Skerry
Title: “Crossroads”
Original Airdate: March 18, 2007
GMMR Recapper: Jo
Previously, the Cylons put a gun to Baltar’s head so he signed the death warrant. Roslin and Zarek were almost executed. Ellen sold out the resistance, so Tigh poisoned his wife. Badger agreed to represent Baltar. And Lee joined on in some twisted daddy issue of his.
Roslin, with smokin super straight hair, has a dream that looks a lot like the Cylon limbo theatre. She hears a child laugh. It’s Hera. She calls out to Hera and chases after her. On the other side of the way, is Hera’s mother Athena also chases after her. They symbolically run down two staircases towards the same bright light. A Six scoops up Hera and carries her into the light.
No opening credits? Little did I realize this would be the least weird part of this episode. Gaeta tells Adama that they are getting close to the next Earth marker.
Bar. Saul sits at the bar and fiddles with a radio trying to find the music. WHOA. Anders. In a Colonial Fleet Uniform. With haircut. I heard the word nugget. Oh my, is he a pilot now?! Flirting with Seelix. In a Colonial Fleet Uniform. He and Anders perk up when they a song play.
Colonial One. Tory tells the prosecutor to charge Baltar with genocide. Tory’s kinda…not right. In Baltar’s cell, a woman (who used to be on Jake 2.0) asks him to bless her sick child. Baltar explains to her that he’s no way a god figure and can’t help her.
Racetrack’s raptor is 12 hours from rejoining the fleet. They are the bait to see if the Cylons are following. In the courtroom, the prosecutor gives her opening statement that’s nothing short of boring. They lost 5,197 in the Exodus. The whole fleet listens in to the trial. Badger gets up and goes through this whole “We all know Baltar is guilty” speech just to throw everyone off. He turns it all around on Roslin saying that Baltar kept them alive during the Occupation. Roslin smirks. Racetrack’s raptor makes contact with the Cylon Fleet.
CIC. Roslin suggests to the men to ask Caprica Six how the Cylons are tracking the fleet. Even Adama stifles a laugh, so Roslin storms off in a huff. Adama chases her as Lee watches on. He sniffs her thermos. Tigh goes to Caprica Six and asks. She tells him that the Cylons found a radiation trail on the fuel ship. FigmentBaltar tells her to ask about Ellen. She does so Tigh smacks her. She hits him back thus ending their conversation.
At the trial, Tigh is drunk and hearing the music again. Badger asks him about the suicide bombing and the Resistance. Then he asks how Ellen died. Tigh blabs that he killed her for treason. In the bar, Tory’s still kinda messed up and she and Anders trip out on this static and music.
On the stand, Roslin recounts how she was taken to be executed. Badger and Baltar realize that Lee is holding back on them. Badger bullies him into finally choosing sides. Adama takes Drunk Saul to bed. Aw, best friends forever. Lee goes to Adama and asks about Roslin. Adama refuses to discuss it and calls Lee a coward and a liar. Lee takes off his major pen and tells the Admiral he won’t serve under a man that questions his integrity. “And I won’t have an officer under my command that doesn’t have any.” Ouch. Point Bill.
Roslin’s back on the stand. Lee’s in a suit and no longer Major Apollo. He asks to lead the questioning. He pries about Roslin’s past. He asks about how Baltar cured her cancer. He asks about the chamala extract. The trippy drug that gave her prophecies. She tells the truth about taking it. He walks right up to her. She whispers to him to “please don’t do this”. He ignores her. He asks if she’s still taking it. Adama speaks up and tries to put an end to it. But two other judges demand she answer. Yes, she is still taking it. Lee goes to sit, but Roslin pipes back up. “Ask me why”. Her cancer is back.
Dee packs her bag. Lee pleads with her but she does understand why Lee does what he does. She’s leaving. Press conference. The reporters hit Roslin up with direct questions. Tory unleashes her anger on them. Roslin dismisses her. Saul hears the music in the walls. Helo tells Gaeta that there’s a storm coming. Anyone else noticing that the Resistance leaders are all tripping out?! Tory, Anders, Saul…To be continued!

Thanks for the recap Jo!
I really enjoyed this episode and I cannot wait until next Sunday. As soon as this episode ended I said to my roommate, “6 days, 23 hours to go.” I’m a major Roslin fan who will love her until her death (which now, sadly may be because of cancer) but every once in a while my love turns to fear when she does that smirk and cold hard glare. My heart went out to her when she was pleading to “Mr. Adama” on the stand and I loved the call back to the miniseries when she thought that “Captain Apollo had a nice ring to it.” She also scores a point on Lee when she forced him to ask her about the cancer (you could pinpoint the moment of realization on Lee’s face and hear his voice break when he asked about why she was taking the drug).
My one question is: Why did Lee get all curious when Tory brought in Roslin’s tea in the first place? And then to walk over there and sniff it when no one was around? That kinda freaked me out.
Great recap, thanks Jo! I liked this episode, too- isn’t Mary McDonnell fantastic? I’m with Heather I love her even when I’m scared of her.
I wondered what was up with Tori and her unusually big hair…
