So, if I’m being honest (and I’m not trying to sound like Simon Cowell here, I swear…), this was not my favorite episode of 24. I mean, VP Demon Daniels was just being so ridiculously irrational and absurd that it seriously stretched believability, I’m sorry. The fact that he was going ahead and initiating a nuclear attack on the conveniently-not-named country, even though CTU stopped the nuke from going off in San Francisco and thus his stated reason for “retaliation” become null… and Karen and Tom were the ONLY people who were disagreeing with him and trying to stop him?!?!?!
Whatever happened to the presidential staff of 24 season 2 that was so quick to remove David Palmer from office because they thought he was irrational and had lost his mind??? Not only that, but Wayne has only been in medical for a few hours – Daniels hasn’t even been officially declared and/or sworn in as president yet. I mean, isn’t there SOME sort of protocol out there that would necessitate that they delay NUKING A FOREIGN COUNTRY and starting a war until they get the official word from the still-alive president – or at the very least Congress??? Correct me if I’m wrong, but I was under the impression that only Congress can declare war and/or sanction acts of war against a foreign country. Bush, Clinton, and every other U.S. President has had to get approval from Congress before “taking action against”, i.e. bombing, foreign countries. Soooo, this is a serious serious – and horrible – plot hole if I’m right.
Anyway, in other 24 news, Nadia is now possibly getting framed for leaking CTU satellite info to the terrorists. Gotta say, I really think that she’s innocent – it would just be so very wrong if after everything Milo did to help her get past the unfair racial profiling restrictions, in the end she was, in fact, a traitor. Certainly, from the heart wrenching way that she was crying in the interrogation room, she certainly seemed innocent. Poor girl. She had to take being threatened and strangled by still-one-dimensional Agent Doyle, and then get Milo’s dirty looks on top of that. I’m telling you, she better get some retribution quickly, because I’m very concerned about her after seeing the previews for next week’s episode.
And speaking of women on the show getting the short end of the stick: so what do you all think about the fact that Audrey is dead? Or rather… “supposedly” dead, since, of course, we never saw her face in those photos of her dead body. Certainly, her being dead is very convenient since she had signed as a regular on another show, “The Nine”. But of course, the fact that said show got cancelled ages ago is probably the reason why 24 decided to make her death more mysterious, and not so certain. I have to say, though, it was really nice to hear that Audrey was the one who figured out that Jack had been kidnapped by the Chinese, and also that she “died” in China trying to save her man. So even if Audrey is in fact dead for good, at least her character is now totally redeemed from her horrible behavior in Season 4, and thus she is now worthy to have been Jack’s love. Obviously, the producers were indeed listening to fans complaints about Audrey, so that’s nice to know. Hey, maybe fans can make a difference!
Speaking of… Message to Kim Raver: Next time, if 24 actually wants you back for their next season, you STAY WITH 24. Do not, repeat, do NOT jump ship onto another sub-par drama pilot – or any pilot – and thus screw your chances of being able to come back to 24, Mm-kay?
Also, Message to 24 Producers: Please don’t kill Logan! I’m telling you, there is still a lot of potential there for some great stories with him. And the fact that we heard no news of his condition – nor even a mention of his existence – in this episode was troubling. Though, it also provided hope, because hey, maybe the meds were able to save him from that ominous flat line after all! So again, please don’t kill Logan! Please…?
That is all.

And of course, LaLa also loves her some quality television shows with quality actors on them, like House… and The Office… and 24… and, well, pretty much any smartly written show that doesn’t include a fat guy with a hot skinny wife or the words “two and a half men” in the title.
Word-o-la LaLa. The VP ordering a nuke attack was really lame. I have been enjoying this season on a whole but there have been several moments, like that one, where I have had to really suspend my disbelief and it is a little disappointing.
The Nadia story is getting interesting, I don’t think it was her, but I’m not sure who just yet… I always had a funny feeling about Morris but really, if it were him, there would have been some kind of acknowledgement of that when they “kidnapped” him…just dunno. Loved Chloe planting the kiss on him and being so frank about just wanting to check his breath. I love Chloe 🙂
And Audrey is sooooo not dead! Interesting to see where that goes. We did the Jack avenging the dead wife thing already, its gotta be something new. I wasn’t as worked up about Audrey last season as some, but it was nice to see that she went after Jack in China.
Also not dead? Logan. There’s no way they can drop him just like that. He was the best part of last season. I really think they have a gift in having him back this year and I hope they exploit it for all it’s worth. heh heh heh crazy Martha!!
I agree. Not the best episode of 24, for all of the above reasons. They must be in their mid-season slump. But I’m looking forward to having the producers, writers, actors, etc. rally to make this the best season ever, as they seem to do every year.
I too agree that it was not the best ep for the above reasons. I am personally a bit befuddled as to this whole “alcoholic” theme they keep harping on. I like the human interest side of the show, but feel that they are perhaps leaning a little too heavily on it. As well, if it is foreshadowing, then get on with it. I am bored with Chloe behaving this way. I also find it interesting that Jack Bauer has bounced back so quickly and looks so dang hot for having just spent two years in a chinese prison camp. Whatever. The show still keeps me on the edge of my seat….! And Audrey….well, we will just see how dead she really is…
