Friday Night Lights Interviews and More
March 21, 2007 by Kath Skerry
You’re going to have to take my word for it, but I did my happy dance this morning when I realized that we get a brand new episode of Friday Night Lights tonight. The dancing stopped when I figured out that this means we only have a few more until the (sniff, sniff) season finale. Yes, SEASON finale…not series finale. This show WILL be back next season. See my friend Oprah told me all about “The Secret” and just by saying it out loud and putting it out into the universe it will happen. So Friday Night Lights WILL be back for season 2.
The fabulous Maureen Ryan at The Chicago Tribune was lucky enough to recently spend some time with the cast on their set in Austin, TX. Until NBC picks up the phone and invites me down to Austin, I’m going to have to live vicariously through Mo. Check out these fantastic interviews and get excited for tonight.
Oh before we move on let me just say that I have plans tonight and I’m TiVoing the show untilI get home, so please be careful not too spoil me with any emails you send. Pretty please with Matt Saracen on top (TWSS).
Kyle Chandler (Coach Eric Taylor)
“A lot of people go, ‘Oh, you guys improv that.’ No, we don’t improv it. It’s far more than improv. [Executive producer] Pete Berg said, ‘The few rules to the game that we play are, you come to the set, you know your character 110 percent, you know the lines that are on the page 110 percent, and then be prepared to get rid of everything and start all over.’”
Interview with Kyle Chandler >>
Connie Britton (Tami Taylor)
“People say that to me all the time, how much they appreciate the representation of that marriage. There was that scene under the table, where we’re having a party at our house and they have [that confrontation] under the table. That really impacted so many women, they feel like they’ve been in that place before. I think the only thing that’s really extraordinary about any of it is – the point is, it’s all kind of mundane, but we’re telling it in such a true way that it resonates.”
Interview with Connie Britton >>
Zach Gilford (Matt Saracen )
“We’re getting people pulled in not because the drama is so foreign to them, so that’s exciting and that’s why they watch, but we’re pulling them in because it’s a drama they’ve gone through and they can relate to.”
Interview withZach Gilford >>
Jesse Plemons (Landry Clarke)
“I grew up in a town just like this. I’m from Texas, I’m from a town called Mart, population 2,000. So I think the reason why I’ve so much fun with it is there are so many people I can think back to.”

oh, i did not know about “the secret”! Thanks for letting me in on that 🙂
So happy that FNL will be back. I so love this show.
This is completely unrelated to this post, but I just wanted to say ‘Happy Birthday, Kath!’ Thank you so much for all that you do for us-your ‘Office Thursdays’ brighten my workday!
Happy birthday, Kath! And I’m putting out my wishes for a 2nd season into the universe, so it’s sure to happen now. If you ever make it down to Austin, I’ll be sure to buy you a Shiner Bock! 🙂
So , why didn’t Mo interview Adrianne Palicki …?? 🙁

GREAT Interviews by Maureen – Love ’em all! 🙂
Now …. WATCH FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS !!!!
8/7c Wednesdays on NBC.
As if you didn’t already know that. 😉
New “Secret” Mantra – – – –
They WILL renew Friday Night Lights.
I will add it to my other “Secret”-isms I am throwing out in the world right now.
Thanks, keep up the fight for FNL.
I love, love, LOVE this show.
I have decided I will NEVER watch another NBC show if they cancel FNL. NEVER, EVER. What would I be missing – The Apprentice? Deal or NO Deal? ER? should I go on with the list of poor quality, but well promoted programs on NBC.
NBC is completely INSANE they wonder WHY the ratings are not the best – hummmmmm, maybe if they PROMOTED the show – JUST A little.
What isn’t there to LOVE about FNL? a handsome leading man (Mr. Chandler and those, to die for, eyes) a sexy Canadian with abs that go on FOREVER (Taylor oh Taylor), a great female role model (Connie), and show that does NOT have teens clad in designer clothes, a la 90210 or the OC, characters with a personality (EVERYONE on FNL), and on and on and on.
Give me a BREAK NBC. Get with the program – Renew FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS!!!!!!!!!
Clear eyes!!
Full hearts!!
Can’t Lose!!
Thanks!!
