Prison Break Star on Grey’s Anatomy

The more I hear about the new Grey’s Anatomy spin-off the less excited I am for it. Yesterday came the news that Tim Daly was being cast as the new, older, and way less sexy version of McDreamy. I wonder if Shonda Rhimes know that Tim Daly’s show always get canceled. He’s a show killer with a lengthy track record.
Daly isn’t the casting notice that really bummed me out though. It’s when I heard that Paul Adelstein was coming on board that I got all kinds of fired up. For those of you who don’t know Paul by name, he plays Agent Paul Kellerman on Prison Break. His maniacal good cop/bad cop role is one of the best things about Prison Break and I would be so bummed to see him leave. But I suppose if you have a the chance to join a Shonda Rhimes show, you don’t turn it down to stay on a Fox show with a shelf life. But still, I’m not happy.
News about the Grey’s spin-off is very hush hush. The stars that have been rumored to be attached to the project, including Daly, Adelstein, and Taye Diggs, have only been listed as guest stars on the special 2-hour episode of Grey’s Anatomy that will lead into the spin-off. Shonda knows how to keep a secret, but this is one time it might be best for her to speak up and do some damage control.

BJ Novak in Improper Bostonian

Filed under BJ Novak, The Office
My favorite free hometown magazine has landed another Office coverboy. First John Krasinski graced the cover of The Improper, and now his co-star and fellow Newton South classmate, BJ Novak. Being on the cover of The Improper is actually a pretty cool thing because everyone in Boston reads it. BJ mentioned to me last week that he did an interview with them…little did I know how soon it would be on the stands. Come on Improper..I think Mindy Kaling should be next.
Here’s an excerpt of the full interview which you can find after the jump.
JS: You really know how to work the red carpet. What are your secrets?
BJN: Umm, don’t wear red. You’ll clash. Keep walking in the same direction; don’t walk back and forth. No need to say “Cheese” for the camer. Oh, and Joan is the old one, Melissa is the young one. Don’t make the same mistake I did and call Melissa “Joan”.JS: What’s more fun, writing or acting?
BJN: Acting gets me more attention. I laugh more when I’m writing.JS: So what is it about Boston that produces so many funny people?
BJN: I think there’s a lot of intelligence in the air. Everyone on the T is reading a book or newspaper. There are a lot of smartasses. And maybe some of that Irish influence. There’s a lot of wit, and you just kind of soak it up.
A special thanks to Stepalina over at The Office LJ for the transcript.
And if you are a big BJ Novak fan and would like a copy of The Improper Bostonian, let me know. I’ll pick some up when I get home to Newton on Monday. Read more
Sneak Peek at “Lost”

Remember what I said earlier about not being too excited about tonight’s episode of Lost? Yeah, well I’d like to redact that. I just saw a scene from tonight’s show and now I’m super stoked for tonight. I’ve got to manage to get in a full episode at lunch time and then one when I get home from work so I can be all caught up by the time the show airs.
Click the following to check out a scene from tonight’s episode. I think it goes without saying but SPOILER ALERT

A Wednesday night without Friday Night Lights? Ugh…just ugh. I guess my top pick for tonight is American Idol. I’d be more excited for Lost if I wasn’t 2 weeks behind. I tried to download the last two episodes so I could watch them on the plane, but for some reason iTunes was taking over 3 hours to download each ep. I’ll try once more today but if it doesn’t work I may have to resort to illegal measures. Um, did I say illegal? Of course by illegal I mean that I will have to go to a friend’s house and watch it on TiVo.
Sadly for GMMR readers, Michelle our resident Lost recapper won’t be able to handle the recaps anymore. She’s got something fun to take up her Wednesday night so YAY for her. Boo for us.
American Idol
It’s Ladies night on Idol as the top 8 girls compete to see who will make it to the final 12. Final 12 is huge because you usually get a song on the American Idol CD and sometimes a place on the tour. Wow, that sounds really lame actually. Well if you make it to the end you can be a bi%@h and skip out on half the tour like Katharine McPhee did by claiming to be sick. Way to thank the fans Kat.
Jericho– Heart of Winter
As winter grips Jericho, evidence of hundreds of refugees traveling south is found; Hawkins and Sarah make an alarming discovery; Jake, Stanley and Mimi run afoul of marauders.
Lost – Enter 77
Locke, Sayid and Kate investigate a strange structure and its mysterious occupant; Sawyer competes in a table-tennis competition to get his belongings back.
America’s Next Top Model– The Girls Who Go to Prom
The 12 remaining models get tips on how to walk a runway and participate in a prom-themed fashion show. Later, the women pose as high-school clichés in a photo shoot, before their number is reduced to 11 by the judges.
Audience Participation…
So what are you planning on watching tonight? What did you watch last night? What are you planning on watching next week? Ok, I’m a little homesick and just want to talk to people today. Comments people comments!!!
American Idols – Top 8 Boys Sing It…or Try To

This was me “live” blogging American Idol last night. Again the “live” part is called into question since I’m on the West Coast and technically watching the show 3 hours after my homies did on the East Coast. And since I’m posting it the morning after…well, again I’m liberal with my use of the word “live”.
On we go…
Time to settle in for America’s most watched TV show. I wonder what Dunkelman’s doing tonight. Here comes Ryan Seacrest to welcome us all. He gets more dramatic with every show, but damn I love his style. If Timberlake can bring sexy back, the least Seacrest could do would be to bring “Seacrest Out” back. It would make me happy.
A big Idol event on Thursday. I’ve heard a rumor that it could be that we get to vote by computer. If that’s the BIG event then that’s lame. A big event is a Justin/Britney reunion on air. Or Christina Aguilera showing up and declaring that Antonella Barba is the girl to beat. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
First up…
Blake Lewis – Oh no, he’s a comedian…I’m not sure if I like this about him. But I do love his hair. He sounds like he’s ready to go out and record a CD already. He looks pretty comfortable on stage. Is this the song that Chris Richardson sang last week? Oops, no, I guess it’s 311. I really don’t know of them other than my friend McCabe was really into them in college. I really like the way he brings in his beat boxing talents to make the song his own. This guys has got IT. I think he’s going to be around until the very end. The judges are liking him for his individuality, and I definitely agree.

Let me explain. No, there is too much. Let me sum up: House basically faked Brain Cancer so that he could convince some doctors in Boston to inject a pleasure drug into his brain. Wow. Maybe House really IS a serious drug junkie. Or, as Wilson so astutely pointed out, maybe the man is just in serious need of some non-drug induced pleasure, like simple human companionship. Of course, Dr. Cranky Pants has built such a prickly wall around himself that he can’t even let himself be complimented (by Foreman), hugged (by Chase), or French Kissed (by Cameron) without cracking insults and other sarcastic remarks.
Speaking of, that kiss with Cameron was pretty steamy – even though she only did it so she could get him off his guard long enough to stick a needle in him and take a blood sample in order to run tests for his supposed cancer. Damn, girl. Cameron certainly has become one gutsy, sexually aggressive woman. Interesting that she and Chase are still sleeping together in their little lusty, supposedly-no-strings-attached arrangement. Though, I fear that poor, soft-hearted Chase is going to get his heart broken anyway by this new, more callous, more House-like Cameron.

This time one week ago I was in the car on my way to pick up Tanster to head to the set of The Office. Actually I think we were already in the car and lost driving through the Hollywood Hills. In no way have I forgotten that I need to post the rest of the recap of my day on the set. I promise it’s coming. I’m working hard for the money people and haven’t had the time I need to really capture everything.
House– Half-wit
Dave Matthews guest stars as a 35-year-old savant whose hand constricts during a piano recital. As the patient’s condition quickly deteriorates at the hospital, House makes plans (unannounced, of course) to go to Boston.
House is coming to Boston? While I’m stuck here in California? Ugh, life is so unfair sometimes. Huh..what..House is a fictional character and he’s probably not really going to Boston? Oh, yeah. I knew that. I did, I swear.
Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll– Season Premiere
Nine finalists compete to become the next member of Pussycat Dolls. In the opener, 18 would-be Dolls are schooled in song and dance before taking part in a final audition that determines the nine finalists. Mark McGrath is the host.
Don’t cha wish this show was off-the-air? Don’t cha…don’t cha
American Idol
The eight remaining male contestants perform.
Come hell or highwater I’m watching this show tonight. I’m still a little angry with America for voting off A.J. He was GOOD. Anyone else think that Jason Mraz is really bummed he doesn’t have a bigger repertoire of songs for Blake and Chris to choose from?
Gilmore Girls — Gilmore Girls Only
After Rory has a fight with Logan, she decides to go to North Carolina with Lorelai for Mia’s wedding, and Emily, who craves a break from needy Richard, decides to drive them so she can go to a nearby spa.
This episode is going to feature Emily Gilmore prominently. You know what that means? Insta-great episode!!

Ok, so raise your hand if you knew that the sympathetic Russian agent was going to get assassinated as soon as he tried to discreetly enter a private room to call Buchanon and inform him about Gredenko’s location? Yeah, I saw that coming from a mile away. Come on, 24, you can do better than that: the fact that you made it the very last scene of the episode, with the creepy silence and the tense background music (see, I told you guys about the music!) totally gave it away.
Oh well. Other than sometimes being too predictable, 24 still does things that make me very happy – like sort-of weasel Tom stepping up and naming Chad Lowe and his mysterious co-conspirator as the true masterminds of the Presidential assassination attempt. And 24 does also manage to surprise me, like the fact that they killed off Assad and pretty much put President Wayne out of commission for what looks to be pretty much the rest of the season. Shame, that. Wayne was finally becoming a strong President with real guts and conviction – the kind of man his brother was – so I’m sad that 24 took him out of the picture. Now we have sleazy Vice President Powers Boothe in charge, a man who was part of the conspiracy to assassinate President Wayne so he can implement that extremist prisoner camp plan. And of course, it looks like he’s going to get away with it too. And to that I say: Booooo!! Read more

The name of this episode is “Sweet Caroline.” I guarantee that once you see the episode, you’ll never again sing the Neil Diamond song with such sweet abandon as you did only a few hours beforehand. Trust me.
C-Note
C-Note is saved from his hanging attempt when guards find him dangling in his cell. He still wants to die, because he believes Mahone will carry out his threat to have his wife re-arrested and that treatment for his daughter will stop. C-Note calls Mahone at his office, but Agent Wheeler takes the call. When C-Note leaves the message, “Don’t hurt them” for Mahone, Wheeler, who has been suspicious of Mahone, starts putting the pieces together. He talks to C-Note and asks him to rat out Mahone and what he’s been doing. I’m thinking that this will be C-Notes ticket out of this mess: he’ll bargain dirt on Mahone for his own freedom, and that’s how he’ll escape having to return to Fox River.
John Krasinski in Leatherheads (More Pics)

Two new pictures of John Krasinski in his role as Carter Rutherford in the upcoming Leatherheads surfaced this weekend.
Looks like John is definiting racking up those frequent flier miles between all his trips from LA to the Carolinas. While I was catching Kate Flannery’s “Lampshades” show on Saturday night (more on that soon), JKras and his BFFs Will Arnett and Rashida Jones were supposedly spotted at Amy Poehler’s Upright Citizens Brigade show in LA. Rumors are also circulating that John and Rashida also caught the premiere of “Zodiac”. I wonder if he ever just stays in and chills on the couch watching cartoons? Nah, probably not.
Now that I have met John it might be harder for me to objectify him, but stalking him online…well some things are just too fun to ever give up.

Previously, the Cylon Leoben had a fatal attraction with Kara. So much so that they took turns torturing other whenever possible. She painted three colored circles on her wall on Caprica and the same circles appeared on the Temple.

The circles reappear through the white paint and Kara wakes from her nightmare. Hot Dog, who had been watching her eew, asks what’s up.
Helo and Kara wash their faces in the loo. I’ve always loved their friendship. He tells her about Hera’s problems. She tells him about the nightmares. Helo suggests a psychiatrist or an oracle in Dogsville. She sees a ghost of her child self. Kara visits the oracle and reluctantly listens to her recount things that Leoben said that only Kara heard. Then she brings up Kara’s mom. It freaks her out to the point that Kara takes off.

In case you couldn’t tell by my lack of updates, I’m still in California. I’ll be here throughout the week. I am still in desperate need of a Slingbox since I seem to be missing some amazing television. Yeah, an HUGE episode of Battelstar Galactica last night…and I missed it (Jo’s recap coming shortly). Soon enough I’ll be settled with this whole bi-coastal thang.
Prison Break – Sweet Caroline
In Chicago, Michael has an encounter with President Reynolds (Patricia Wettig), and Sara has one with Mahone while C-Note performs his part of the bargain with Mahone. At the Mexico City airport, Bellick spots T-Bag.
Heroes– Parasite
Nathan meets Linderman in person just before the election; Hiro goes for the sword again with dire consequences; Suresh makes a breakthrough on “the list”; another person with powers, Candice Wilmer (Missy Peregrym), shows up.
24 – Day 6: 5:00 PM-6:00 PM
An attempted coup d’état rattles the Palmer administration, and Jack warily accepts an offer of help from former president Logan (Gregory Itzin). Noah Daniels: Powers Boothe. Yuri Suvarov: Nick Jameson. (Watch a scene from tonight’s episode).
The Black Donnellys– A Stone of the Heart
Sean’s fate becomes clear to the Donnelly siblings; an antsy Jimmy stews in a holding cell; an unsettled Tommy finds comfort in Jenny; Nicky grasps control of the Italian mob.
Let’s Talk about The Black Donnellys…
So since I’ve been traveling we haven’t had much time to chat about The Black Donnellys. Sadly I missed the premiere episode last Monday night, but I was able to catch the encore episode later in the week and I was really impressed. That’s saying a lot considering I wasn’t even enjoying it the first 30 minutes. Like most premiere episodes, I thought they tried to force too much plot and background on us. I wasn’t buying the neighborhood and I couldn’t keep track of the Donnelly boys. But…oh yes, there is a but – the ending was SO good that I personally can’t wait to watch tonight’s episode. Since a recap isn’t possible without a TiVo, I’ll try to take some notes so we can talk about it tomorrow morning.
So did you all watch The Black Donnellys? What did you think about it? If you didn’t watch it last week, click here to watch the premiere episode for free on NBC.com
Don’t let The Black Donnellys be the show you WISH you watched from the beginning. I think this might turn out to be a great out.

Just got home from the Museum of Television & Radio Paley Festival featuring The Office. It was a wonderful evening filled with laughs and tears. Ok, there were no tears but I was hoping to make my review a little more quotable. There were laughs though – many of them.
Upon entering the DGA I immediately spotted my first cast members as they were giving interviews in the media line. I was standing off to the side and warmly greeted by Leslie David Baker (aw, Stanley). While in the lobby I met up with some friends whom I’ve met online and those responsible for hooking me up with a ticket. I don’t know if mentioning names is cool, but you know who you are and THANK YOU!! The MTR people were trying to escort people in, but they weren’t having much luck since the cast was just inches away and everyone wanted to watch them.
