Sad News: GMMR Shutting Down for Good

It’s a sad, sad day. As you know I’ve been having some major internet issues lately. It’s been a tough few days that has ended with me coming to the decision that it’s time to bring Give Me My Remote to a close. It’s been a great ride, and GMMR has allowed me so many opportunities (I mean I did get to meet Jason Dohring and John Krasinski). Thanks to all of you that have supported the site over the past year and a half. I’ll still be around on MySpace so I hope to see you there.

Come on now…you think I could really give up GMMR? Nah.
One thing is true. I have been having MAJOR internet issues and they haven’t ended. If you live in the North East and are considering Comcast – don’t!! Actually run in the opposite direction.
I’m going to be online this week, but PLEASE be patient with me until I can get things back to normal. With my lack of online time late lst week I really have to concentrate on catching up with my real job – please understand. I’ll be back posting tomorrow, and I really hope that you guys will be here with your witty comments – they keep me going during the day – you have no idea how much!!
So thank again for your patience and support. Sorry for the April Fool’s Day joke.
P.S. Someone posted over at TWOP that Rashida Jones’s new pilot was nixed and that she was just signed on to The Office as a series regular. Talk about a sick April Fool’s Day joke…I’m still shaking.

Aww, you freaked my freak! I totally fell for it! When I read the little blurp on the home page I literally screamed “WHAT??” and my fiancee looked at me like I was crazy…Thank God it was a joke…a cruel cruel joke…
Heather B – I’m glad that you enjoy GMMR so much, but let’s not be crazy. If Greg Daniels called me today and said that Karen Fillipelli would be gone for good if i agreed to shut down GMMR I must just do it (I’m a giver). of course I would make him promise that (a) Jim and Pam would live happily ever after (b) the show would move to HBO so we got to see first hand just how happy Jim could make Pam…ha ha ha
Wow………for a few seconds I was absolutely horrified that I would never be able to turn to GMMR for my Office fix………..take as long as you need to catch up with work, just as long as you don’t leave us forever!

I forgot about the date, but I didn’t think the internet issue thing made too much sense, since you said you also need it for you work. But your delivery, thanking everyone and such, was perfect.

This Greater Boston area reader uses Verizon DSL and knock wood, the service has been great. Just sayin’. 🙂
Haha, I was just like “uhhh, where will I get all my office related news from?” then I did a serious re-evaluation of my office obsession and wondered if it was healthy or not, and then i read after the jump and went “YES! the obsession will live on!” 🙂

WOW. I’ve never posted a comment here before, but I absolutely love this site, and you nearly broke my little Office/Grey’s obsessed heart thinking I would never be able to get a good chuckle from GMMR again. So, I think that merits a ‘Performance Review’ Jim salute to Pam.

comcast works great for me. maybe because i am in the southeast :). hehe. so far, only a few jokes have been attempted, but i have caught all of them (before i got too embarrassed)
This is the second TV related prank I fell for. On thetvaddict.com, there is a fake gilmore girls script and I fell for that. You scared me too much. I love this site so much so never ever shut it down!
Haha. Office fans are the best pranksters. Jokes are being played on all the Office messageboards. Gotta love it!

i called my boyfriend almost in tears because i was so upset…oddly enough he was very sweet because he understands that GMMR is the first website i go to after i check my email…..so naturally when i went to leave you and comment to tell you how much i love you and will miss the site i called him back and he and i had a nice laugh. I was a little misty-eyed there for a second.

No one played any pranks on me and I’m not the prankster sort so I didn’t trick anyone else either.
If you are disappointed with Comcast, try RCN, I live in Boston and they do a nice job. You can get cable, phone and internet for a decent rate. Plus I get a 100 bucks for the referal. 🙂
