Sanjaya Still America’s Favorite Joke

Sanjaya Malakar lives to sing (if you can call it that) another week. For some reason there are people all over this country who take time out of their lives to pick up the phone and vote for him – multiple times. For the love of Pete you made your point – make it stop already my ears can’t take it anymore.
The contestants were grouped into 3’s tonight. The top 3 were Melinda, LaKisha and Jordin. The middle group was Blake, Chris and Sanjaya. And the group with the lowest votes were Phil, Gina and Haley.
In the end it was a very emotional Gina Glocksen that is sent packing with the sounds of Daughtry’s “Home” ushering her off the stage. So not only did America get it wrong by not sending Sanjaya home, but then kept around Haley Scarnato too. And to add insult to injury, Gina has to sing the melancholy yet inspired “Smile”. I’m teary right now, what is wrong with me?
Anyone know what went down in the final moments? My TiVo cut it off but I’m watching online with “Jim Mosby” and he said that he heard Gina say something to Jordin and it appeared that she was passing Jordin the mic when the screen went to black. Did anyone else see what went down? If Jordin Sparks grabbed the mic and called for Sanjaya’s ousting and I missed it I will be pissed!!!
Behind the Scenes of “License to Wed” with John Krasinski

Raise your hand if you want to see John Krasinski behind the scenes of License to Wed!! I’m not sure I’m prepared for the joy I’ll experience watching JKras on the big screen when License to Wed hits theaters on July 4th. The movie could suck (which it won’t) but I will still see at least 5 times because that’s what we do around here…we support John Krasinski.
The movie actually looks like an adorable romantic comedy and I do love those so it’s a win-win (win). I’ve heard great things from those who caught an early test screening earlier this month. I thought about saving this video until tomorrow, but my lack of will power of your gain. So check out this short video behind the scenes of “License to Wed” featuring my one and only, JKras.

The Black Donnellys is Dunzo

Just a quick update from yesterday’s post about NBC pulling The Black Donnellys from the schedule in late April. Well I’m sad to report that The Black Donnellys is gone from NBC effective immediately. It was fun while it lasted. Remaining episodes of the show are expected to stream on NBC.com but no official word has come down with respect to those episodes. Another one bites the dust.
For Julie, Steph and all my other girls who loved this show, I will leave you with this:
WARNING! The following clip contains graphic violence as well as a hot as hell half naked guy.

NBC Renews 30 Rock

Last month we conducted an informal poll here at GMMR and asked which freshman show you would most like to see renewed for a second season. From that poll and the comments received it was clear that you all love NBC’s 30 Rock. Lucky for you, NBC has decided to renew the show for the 2007-2008 TV season. YAY!!
Here’s an excerpt from the official NBC press release issued earlier today:
NBC will renew its critically acclaimed comedy “30 Rock” (returning to the network’s lineup on Thursday, April 5, with a special supersized episode at 8:40 p.m. – 9:20 p.m. ET) for the 2007-08 season, it was announced today by Kevin Reilly, President, NBC Entertainment. The series will settle into its new time period of 9:00 – 9:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, April 12 for the remaining episodes.
“From the beginning, ’30 Rock’ has proven to be the kind of quality comedy that doesn’t come around very often, and we are very pleased to have this show back for a second season,” said Reilly. “We expect it to continue to build its increasingly loyal audience and become another of NBC’s classic comedy series.”
Kevin Reilly may be a network suit but the man knows how to fight for good TV even when they ratings dictate pulling the show. Reilly was responsible for fighting to keep Scrubs, The Office, Friday Night Lights and 30 Rock on the air. So thanks Kevin Reilly and thanks NBC!!

American Idol
Someone’s going home. I’ve given up hope that it’s going to be Sanjaya. Chris and Melinda were fantastic last night!! I think I agree with Simon when he says it’s going to be hard to say something bad about Melinda – the girl is just so damn good. I think she might be the best American Idol contestant ever (well at least from a vocal standpoint).

Comments Off on Scrubs, The Office, Ugly Betty, & Friday Night Lights Win Peabody Awards
Some of the best of what TV has to offer was honored earlier today with the prestigious Peabody Award. The Peabody Award “recognizes distinguished achievement and meritorious service by radio and television networks, stations, producing organizations, cable television organizations and individuals.”
[The] George Foster Peabody Awards are often cited as the most prestigious awards in electronic media. Each year, from more than one thousand entries, the Peabody Board selects outstanding works exhibiting excellence, distinguished achievement, and meritorious service by radio and television networks, stations, cable television organizations, producing organizations, and individuals.
This year some of the top shows on television. Recognized as the top entertainment series were: Friday Night Lights (NBC), Brotherhood (Showtime), Ugly Betty (ABC), Scrubs (NBC) and The Office (NBC). Not a bad list to be a part of…not bad at all.
Congrats to all the winners.

One Blog a Day is a site that features – get this – one blog a day. And today that one blog is GiveMeMyRemote.com. The editors recently asked me to fill out a brief profile about GMMR to be shared on their site. It was nice to be asked and I was happy to do it.
Since One Blog a Day was kind enough to feature GMMR, I thought we all could send back the love by checking out their site. Play around a bit over there and you might just find a new blog worthy of bookmarking. Visit OneBlogADay.com

Awwwww. That was pretty much my reaction to the end of this episode, with 42 year old Emma, aka the patient-of-the-week, lovingly holding her (just barely!) saved newborn baby. And this time, it was all thanks to Cuddy, who surprisingly took on the “House”-type role this episode of being the only one who’s willing to do risky and crazy things in order to save the patient (which finally made her sympathize with and understand how House feels in these situations). Of course, the fact that the “patient” this time was really Emma’s unborn baby/fetus made it a very personal mission for Madame Cuddy – who herself is also in her forties and trying desperately to have a baby by in vitro, just like Emma did.

Nathan Fillion & Cast of “Drive” Offer Free Gas Today in L.A.
April 4, 2007 by Kath Skerry

Just saw this over at TV with MeeVee:
A good friend has just given us the following scoop: Fox will be offering free gasoline this Thursday from 9-11 a.m. at the station at 10389 Santa Monica Blvd. (corner of Beverly Glen) in Century City to promote their new road-race/road rage drama Drive. As if the free gas offer isn’t enough, cast members Nathan Fillion, Kristin Lehman, Taryn Manning, Kevin Alejandro, Dylan Baker and Emma Stone will be on hand to squeegee your windshields. Save three bucks a gallon and watch an actor get their nails dirty at the same time? Count us in!
There are so many good things about this promo. One – free gas for residents of L.A.. I recently spent some time there and gas is off the charts expensive. Two – Nathan Fillion filling up your gas tank (the joke it too easy so I’ll leave it be). Three – Fox is out there supporting its new show Drive which I LOVED. It’s a win-win-win. I got a screener not too long ago and the show is a lot of fun. I’ll be posting my thoughts on the pilot this week.
If you are one of the lucky ones to get a free fill up today, tell Nathan we say hello, and make sure you take some pics to share with your GMMR friends.

Say Goodbye to The Black Donnellys
April 3, 2007 by Kath Skerry

Just this past Saturday night I was talking to my friends about the future of The Black Donnellys. Poor naive Ray and Rob thought that because The Black Donnellys was a well written, well acted show that it would stick around. If only. Word came down today that NBC pulled the mob drama about the hot Irish Donnellys brothers in favor of yet another reality show. Oh joy. Ashton Kutcher’s new reality show, The Real Wedding Crashers, will premiere in place of the Donnellys beginning Monday April 23rd at 10 P.M.
Let’s hope Tommy, Kevin, Sean and Jimmy Donnelly don’t go the way of Louie Downtown and Huey and never return. I’m wondering if I’m the jinx. It’s as if every show I start to really like and get invested in is just pulled from the air with no closure. And if I’m not the curse is it just perhaps that Monday 10pm time slot on NBC?

House — Fetal Position
A pregnant 42-year-old celebrity photographer (Anne Ramsay) suffers a stroke while shooting a rock star (All-American Rejects’ Tyson Ritter), and soon her kidneys and liver begin to fail as well. Watch a scene from tonight’s episode (or scroll in the TV above until you find “House” and you can watch it there)
The Shield — Season Premiere
Everyone’s favorite crooked cop is back for Season Six. Vic is full-on obsessed with finding Lem’s killer, and Kavanaugh is looking to pin the deed on Vic. Claudette gets Vic off the case by tossing the team a methadone fire case. Ah, it’s good to be bad.
American Idol — Elimination Results
The nine remaining finalists perform after coaching from Tony Bennett. I have to say that I’ve never been so bored with American Idol. Perhaps Sanjaya going home with pique my interest again, but I’m so annoyed with his horrible antics that I have a hard time watching it. But I will.
Dancing with the Stars — Elimination Results
Someone’s going home tonight. Let’s hope it’s either Heather Mills (she’s not good – I don’t care if her leg is plastic or not) or Billy Ray Cyrus. I have to say that it’s good to know that if Johnny Damon ever needs a day off from playing baseball he can have his twin Billy Ray step in for him. This show isn’t all that great, but I’ll watch because I’m all about Ian Ziering!! TEAM ZIERING (or is it TEAM IAN)?

Ladies and gentleman, a round of applause (and by applause I mean comments) for Michelle as she wraps up her recaps for this season of Prison Break. I will be forever amazed at how fast you can pull a recap together…I am humbled by your talent. Thanks so much fo everything!!

Had this been truly the last episode of the series – which it wasn’t, as it was recently announced that there will certainly be a Season 3 – what a letdown of an ending it would have been. As it was, though, standing as another chapter in the Incredibly Cursed Lives of Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burroughs, it was quite satisfying. Even though Kellerman, my favorite pretend-gay, blueberry-pie-loving paid assassin, was gunned down after testifying on behalf of Sara, it was still a good episode…until the last five or ten minutes, during which I felt like I had accidentally pressed the TiVo remote and was watching an episode of “Lost,” so confused was I by everything that was happening.
First, the “little people”:
KELLERMAN – after testifying at Sara’s trial and revealing all of the truth he knows, he’s led away to prison van. On the way to the Big House, one of the “guards” (yeah, sure) feigns engine trouble and turns off the highway to investigate. In a few seconds, the back of the van opens, and men in black (literally) pump bullets into the back to take care of Kellerman (I love how they leave this open-ended, like they can come back and say “Kellerman didn’t really die” if the “Gray’s Anatomy” spin-off doesn’t work out and the actor comes back to this show. C’mon, now. My Sensi is dead. Accept it and let him go peacefully. I will, eventually).

WHAT?!?!?!? Wha- wha- Is this some sort of April Fools joke, one day late?? Are they serious?!?! I cannot believe that after regaining his presidency and defeating Demon Daniels for good, Wayne STILL went ahead and re-ordered the nuclear strike that he himself called off only an hour ago!!!! Has he lost his mind with the whole, I-only-care-about-reasserting-my-authority-and-gaining-back-my-power speech?!?! Have all those adrenaline shots zapped his brain cells?!?! No… it’s all happening again! Head… spinning… 24 world… repeating itself…flashbacks of power-mad Logan… returning…. Nooooooooooo!
Seriously, though, if I thought that the past few episodes were stretching the credibility of this show… I mean, give me a break. It makes zero sense for Wayne to call off the nuclear attack on the Middle East from his hospital bed, and then once he firmly regained the presidency, reorder said attack because now it was HIS idea and not his VP’s. I mean, that reminds me of a zillion comedic movies where the assistant to the head villain makes a great suggestion, the villain then shoots down said suggestion as stupid and/or bad, and then moments later the villain makes the same suggestion and tries to pass it off as their own brilliant idea. It’s farce. It’s silly. It’s… sigh. I really hope Wayne is only changing his mind because he’s lost it… reaaaally really hoping that, 24.
The Bachelor: An Officer & a Gentleman

10:15 P.M. EST
I’m trying, I really am but I’ve just watched “The Bachelor”, Andy Baldwin, meet his 25 perspective wives and it’s so cringeworthy I feel naseuous. They all just exited their limos and greeted Andy and it felt so forced and awkward. First of all, who are these 22 year old women who need to find a husband so desperately. You are 22!! Andy is 30, a celebrated Navy officer, a triathalete and an accomplished Doctor, and we are supposed to think he’d be well suited with a college student? I just don’t buy it. And the women?! I have to wonder if they got a group rate on the bleached blond hair, the fake tans and the boobs. Call me jealous but out of these 25 “beauties” only a handful looked normal. Yes, I’m being catty but come on, we are talking about The Bachelor, I think it’s ok.
That being said, I may have to watch The Bachelor every week – if only to laugh. Maybe we can make a fun game of it. Of course we can try to guess who’s going to get a rose, but I say we vote each week for the craziest bitch who will most likely end up alone with cats because she embarrassed herself so much on this show that no man will ever have her!! You in??
I’m going to be back later with my more random thoughts on The Bachelor. But first I need to pause it and go watch some Black Donnellys. It’s not saying much where a dark mob drama is more satisfying to the senses than a dating reality show.
11:55 P.M. EST
It’s almost an hour later and I just finished watching the premiere episode of The Bachelor. I wish you all could see the tears streaming down my face right now. This show is frakking hysterical!! This could be my new favorite show. I’m not going to recap the episode but I thought I should share the highlights if only to inspire you to watch with me next week.
First up…The Psycho: Lindsay! Oh there are a quite a few nut jobs in this group so choosing just one might be a little difficult, but I’m going to go with Lindsay. Lindsay, 22, not only got drunk and picked a fight with one of the other girls but also stormed out in a profanity laced tirade after she wasn’t given a rose. Way to look like an asshat on camera sweetheart. Her parents must be proud.
Psycho runner-up: Stephanie. Stephanie got the “first impression rose” tonight and seemed overly impressed with herself. She annoyed me with her creepy smile from the get go, but nothing was better then when she revealed “I’m going to get rose after rose after rose until there is a ring on my finger.” Ah, she is also the romantic of the group.
Grey’s Anatomy Special Hosted by Denny

The hardest working” dead guy” in showbiz, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, will be back at Seattle Grace Hospital soon enough, and no, Meredith won’t be having another near death experience. JDM, who played Izzie’s dearly departed fiance Denny, will be hosting a one-hour special, “Grey’s Anatomy: Every Moment Counts” on April 12th. The special takes a look back at some of the show’s most memorable moments over the past three seasons.
And get ready for a new song to be stuck in your head because the special will feature one of Grey’s signature music videos. Oddly enough The Fray won’t have anything to do with this one. Singer/songwriter Bradi Carlile’s tune “The Story” was given the honor as the background score for the new video. Given the success of past Grey’s videos, Carlile can be sure to get mad airplay from this honor.
Is it me or has Grey’s already had a few clips shows in its three seasons? Seems a bit odd to me. But heym if it means spending some quality time with Dead Denny then I’m all for it. I’d be even better if he can bring his BFF from beyond, Dylan (Kyle Chandler) with him.
So mark your calendars for “Grey’s Anatomy: Every Moment Counts” on April 12th at 9/8c on ABC
