BREAKING NEWS: GILMORE GIRLS Canceled

It’s official! May 15th will be the SERIES finale for GILMORE GIRLS. The news was announced this morning in a joint statement from Warner Bros and The CW:

“Announcing the final season of ‘Gilmore Girls’ is truly a sad moment for everyone at The CW and Warner Bros. Television,” statement read. “This series helped define a network and created a fantastic, storybook world featuring some of television’s most memorable, lovable characters.”

“(We) promise to give this series the send off it deserves,” statement said.

It’s with a heavy heart that I share this news. GILMORE GIRLS has been an important television show and I’m sad to see it go. I can’t believe that we only have two weeks to prepare ourselves for the end of Lorelai, Rory and the rest of Stars Hollow.

i’ve only watched gilmore girls sporatically over the years, but i’m surely going to miss it.

  2. Lauren on May 3rd, 2007 3:15 pm

I am sad to see it go too, although I’m also sad because I feel like it went on one-year too long and dropped off a bit. Anyway, I look forward to re-run land with Rory and Lorelai!

Wow. I’m way more bummed than I thought I would be. The show has been really good lately, and I’m so sad they couldn’t come to some kind of agreement that would give it a proper send-off. I know they’ve promised that, but it seems hard to deliver with only two weeks left. ๐Ÿ™

Wow, I’m a little ferclempt. All season, I have said that I hoped this was the last because the show was starting to suck. But now, with only 3 (?) eps left, I am really sad. GG used to be my most favorite show (before I fell in live w/ The Office and before ASP left) And it was such a big deal for me. I’m sad that we’ll never see Luke and Lorelei get married and have babies. And I’ll miss Kirk. And Paris. And all the wonderfully wacky charcaters. I’v really grown to like Logan too. And Emily. Wow, I’m sad.

Well, I hope this means that Lauren Graham’s career explodes due to all of her free time, as well as Alexis. I also hope to see Scott in something else-I heart Luke for life…

    Ok, I’m done.

  5. Sarah on May 3rd, 2007 3:45 pm

Wow. I mean, I was expecting this to happen, but I’m still really sad. I actually gasped when I read it was canceled. I mean, it has obviously gone through some not so great times, but all in all, it is a wonderful, witty show. I’ve been watching since episode one and its gonna be sad not to tune it each week to see what those crazy girls and Stars Hollow-ites are up to and what part of pop culture they’ll reference.

“Where you lead, I will follow…”

Oy with the poodles already ๐Ÿ™

I love you GG…even through the dark and stormy times, I haven’t been a fairweather friend. Farewell.

  7. Jen on May 3rd, 2007 3:49 pm

    awwwww oh no!

I hope when they say โ€œthe send off it deservesโ€ they mean the Logan will get lost, and Jess will come back.

A girl can hope, can’t she?

It will be very sad to see this show go. ๐Ÿ™

I am sad about this even though most of us fans were expecting it.
Most fans are actually welcoming this.
Better this, than another year that makes us hate the show and its direction.
The story lines in that last 2 episodes have really set this up.

Heres to hoping Lorelai and Luke get back together, that Rory accepts Logan’s marriage proposal. And that all of the other wonderful characters from Lane to Kirk to Paris have wonderful lives in our heads.

  9. Carli on May 3rd, 2007 4:17 pm

I’ve been expecting this, but now that it’s official I’m actually sad. I hope we get a L/L resolution!

  10. Beth on May 3rd, 2007 4:44 pm

this makes my heart hurt. I’ve followed this show from day 1 and I’m a little upset that they are telling us with only two episodes left- how am I to prepare for no more witty banter, no more logan, no more sookie, no more kirk, etc…goodbye Stars Hollow!

(a little dramatic i know, i’ve been expecting it to end but now its a reality…)

  11. Whirl on May 3rd, 2007 6:01 pm

Wow. I have to admit I knew that this was coming but a girl can’t help but be upset. First recapping job and the show has always been close to my heart. I will truely miss it.

I just hope they send it out in style.

That is really sad news. Gilmore Girls has been one of my favorite shows for so long. I was really hoping for at least a shortened season but I guess they couldn’t get the contracts worked out with Alexis and Lauren. I’m especially sad because I feel like the last episode will leave a lot hanging between Lorelei and Luke rather than seeing them finally back together. Even though it’s Office Thursday, this is a sad day for GG fans.

    Sadness all around!
First, Dawson’s Creek and then Charmed and now, Gilmore Girls… what am I and my best friend going to watch via telephone, now? Heh…
Secondly, Lauren better get an Emmy nod after all of this! I mean, it’s been said for the last three years or so that she hasn’t been getting any love. Give her some love, Emmy people! Who else get pull of “His Girl Friday” speed lines like Lauren and the rest of the cast?
Lastly… can Sean Gunn or Scott Patterson join the warehouse crew of “The Office” because that would be awesome? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Where you lead, I will follow
Anywhere that you tell me to
If you need, you need me to be with you
I will follow where you lead

…I would’ve followed where they led. I really can’t imagine a way to give a show like GG a “proper send-off” within 2-3 episodes without pulling a crack “everybody gets together!” ending.

As long as Liza Weil, Alexis Bledel, and Lauren Graham get a huge career after this so that I can burst into tears of mourning whenever I look at their faces on a DVD cover or movie poster…

…oh God. What is the world going to do without more Paris Gellar?!!!

I’d really love to hear what AS-P has to say about this.

    This is just so sad.

  16. Sus on May 4th, 2007 7:31 am

I agree with Emma…Liza Weil had better be in every movie ever made from now on. Oooh, I’ll miss her so! And the girl who plays April! I hope she doesn’t go the way of other child stars. Get that girl a show now!

Oh, I’ll miss EVERYone! This is so not fair.

  17. cara on May 11th, 2007 6:41 am

This is a sad thing for the show to end. But, it is the truth that the show has changed since Amy S-P left. Let’s just hope that each of the three girls and even Scott Patterson will be successful in their careers, and perhaps a couple of them can work together again soon!

  18. Jenny on September 21st, 2007 4:51 pm

Aw man, that show was my favorite of all times! I cried at the finales! I’ll miss all the colorful characters like Kirk and Paris.

  19. kelseyy on October 15th, 2007 3:19 pm

omg omg I was so pissed when the show was canceled!! i mean thats like the best show ever!!! by far!!!! ughh, okay well i also cried at the finale!!!!! ๐Ÿ™

hey it’s really a pity that the show is ending, I have followed the GG since the very first episode and was always on edge for the next season to come out. all of my friends loved it here in Malta. I really hope they do a movie one day. anyways I wish the best of luck to all the cast members espacially to Lauren. you’re the best !!

im so sad that they are doing this too! i think that they kinda ended it too fast cause it was kinda like BAMMM done….. you know. i really wanted rory and jess to get back together. they looked so cute together!!! they are perfect they both like to read and they have a lot of things in common. and i do agree with the other girl that the show was kinda like they couldnt think of anything elso to do. But i think they should do a finnal movie like thing that will sum everything up. the last ep. kinda left you hanging. i did hear that there might be something like that…..does anybody know any thing about that????…..cause i havent heard anything latly.

    ok ill shut up now…..lol

I have watched Gilmore Girls religiously for their whole time on the TV. I have all 7 seasons of Gilmore Girls. I have not missed even one episode, that is how devoted I am to it. Seeing Gilmore Girls go is very hard to receive. I hope that they will change their minds and do more episodes. Gilmore Girls, season 7 ended with a cliff hanger, where Rory says no to Logan’s proposal to marry him. Then, she has a party and just leaves. I think they could have atleast let Rory marry Logan and do like a 5, 10, or 15 years later sort of think. Maybe then it would not have been such a bad ending for it.
