FOX Upfront News & Rumors
May 12, 2007 by Kath Skerry
Fox’s fall schedule will be announced on May 17th, but TheFutonCritic.com is reporting that a few shows already got an early nod. Remember nothing if official until the announcements are made, but these early reports are usually accurate.
New dramas for Fox include:
Sarah Connor Chronicles -a small screen take on the “Terminator” film franchise set between the last two films with “300’s” Lena Headey in the title role. New Amsterdam – series about a 400-year-old cop (Nikolaj Coster Waldau) cursed with immortality until he finds true love. K-Ville – a police procedural set in post-Katrina New Orleans starring Anthony Anderson and Cole Hauser.
On the comedy side, Fox has opted to pick up:
Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino’s The Return of Jezebel James. The Kelsey Grammer/Patricia Heaton-led Back to You…and, wait for it…The Rules for Starting Over – the Farrelly brothers comedy starring Craig Beirko and Rashida Jones*
I’ll be sure to update GiveMeMyRemote.com as OFFICIAL word comes from the network next Thursday.
* More after the jump
* A well informed source said that despite Rashida Jones’ show being picked up:
“It would be a mistake to assume that you won’t be seeing Karen next season.” (on “The Office”).
Sorry to throw this in here with the Fox news, but I know it was going to cause a sick amount of speculation.

Oh I don’t mind having Rashida on the show, I just don’t want Karen to be the the one in the way of Jim and Pam in season 4.
I don’t mind Rashida being on the show, just not as a main character. If she is in corporate or something that would be fantastic, they could check in with her every now and then. I don’t think she’ll be back in the same capacity she is now.
You don’t think they’ll pull a Darren (Bewitched) or Becky (Roseanne) do you?
I like Rashida and i wouldn’t mind her on the show, but i hope that if she stays on the show, that she would be in corperate…
Oh, GMMR, your Rules for Starting Over news makes me so happy!
I don’t see how Jim and Pam can even begin to regain their friendship if Karen is still at Scranton. Jim would have to deal with a “five nights” scenario every time he even looked at Pam, much less talked to her. So, we can see Karen every now and then from her new, plushy, corporate corner office. Otherwise, she just needs to go.
I do like Karen’s character and I really wish they had explored a Karen / Pam friendship. I just don’t like her as Jim’s girlfriend / roadblock to potential JAM.
Hey GMMR! Have a great time at the upfronts, it’s tomorrow isn’t it? Can’t wait for the report! 🙂
Thanks Clare! I’m heading early tomorrow morning. As soon as I can get a free minutes I’ll be sure to update GMMR.
“It would be a mistake to assume that you won’t be seeing Karen next season.” (on “The Office”).
It would be a mistake to assume this because it would spoil their fun of messing with our brains 🙂
I think it would be a mistake to put Jim and Karen together next season. They just don’t seem to have any chemistry. Their relationship is very sedate, almost one of convenience. They didn’t even sit by each other in the last scene on Thursday, which made it better for FNB. Even if there was no JAM, I just think Karen and Jim are wrong for each other.
That being said, I do like Karen’s character, but she needs to be with someone else, like a New Yorker….
Do you know if Bones is returning? I am a huge fan of that show! I am 99.9% sure it is but I would die if it doesnt. AHH
Also so glad to hear that Rashidas show got picked up (bye Karen hee hee)
I’m so happy that the Return of Jezebel James got picked up! Lauren Ambrose (Claire from Six Feet Under… any fans?) has a co-starring role with Parker Posey. What a great cast.
