GREY’S ANATOMY Season Finale Recap…Seriously?

WARNING! The post you are about to read is smug, sarcastic, and at times perhaps unfairly harsh. I have a feeling I might come back later and want to take a few things back, but for now I gotta go with my gut, and my gut is saying…WHY?!
Excuse me. I was wondering if you could help me. See I’m trying to find GREY’S ANATOMY. It’s this brilliantly written drama set in a hospital in Seattle. It explores the lives and loves of five interns and the people that come into their lives during their first years as interns. It’s known for it’s witty banter and smart and unpredictable storylines. I can’t seem to find that show and I was wondering if you maybe could help me find it. If so, leave me a comment and let me know.
Seriously. Seriously. THAT was the season finale of Grey’s Anatomy? That was the episode that was supposed to keep me satisfied and enthusiastic until the show returns in the Fall? Really? I’m not sure at what point in the season Shonda Rhimes decided to turn her smart and sassy show into a soap opera, but it was quite obvious last night that that’s where we’ve ended up. Complete with the soft lighting and overly predictable story arc. And maybe that’s where we should start.
Raise your hand if you really thought Christina and Burke were going to be married? Did the writers really think they were pulling one over on us? Did they think we were going to assume that Christina would be the one to call it off, when it’s been obvious for weeks that Preston didn’t want this to happen? Come on now, give us some credit.
THE OFFICE Season Finale Recap: “The Job”

At just about 8:54 pm tonight there was a slight shift in the universe. Did you feel it? There was this calmness and this stillness that took over and for the first time September 21st all felt right. Yes, Jim and Pam have found their way to each other. Can I get an AMEN!!
The Season 3 finale of THE OFFICE was brilliantly written, acted, and well paced. It was filled with twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. And I know that it sounds cliche, and I know saying it sounds cliche, sounds cliche. Maybe I’m being cliche but I don’t care. I am what I am – a full fledged Office addict who got exactly what she wanted, and in fact needed from the finale.
Looking back on this season I can’t help but be reminded of the profound words of the prolific Missy “Missdemeanor” Elliott: “Is it worth it, let me work it. I put my thang down, flip it and reverse it.” Oh yes, it seems that some of our favorite Dunder Mifflinites had their stories flipped and reversed, and while it was a worthwhile journey for some, others ended up…well nowhere we (or they) expected to be.

I just checked out my personal MeeVee Guide for today, and oh my god I had no idea so many season finales were airing tonight. So much TV, so little time. So which shows will have endings that will keep up talking all through the summer? Your guess is as good as mine. Check out which shows are taking their summer break starting tonight. (Click on the links to find out when the shows are airing and on what station in your area)
Ugly Betty – “East Side Story”
In the first-season finale, Daniel’s debauchery continues unabated, and Wilhelmina reaps the benefits of her ambition. Guest stars include Kristin Chenoweth and Angelica Vale, who stars in the popular Mexican telenovela “La Fea Mas Bella.”
The Office – “The Job”
In the hour-long Season 3 finale, the desk jockeys reflect on their day of beach competitions. Meanwhile, a corporate job opening sparks competition at Dunder Mifflin, as Michael, Jim and Karen journey to New York for interviews. Watch a scene from tonight’s episode
Smallville – “Phantom”
In the sixth-season finale, Clark learns how Lionel got Lana to marry his son; Lana tells Lex that it’s over; Martian Manhunter (Phil Morris) helps Clark stop Lex from finding the last Phantom Zone wraith.
Scrubs – “My Rabbit/My Point of No Return”
As the sixth season ends, J.D. asks Kim to move in with him and Elliot gets help with her wedding; but they begin to doubt their choices and wonder if they’re planning with the wrong people. Meanwhile, Turk realizes being a father changes things. Watch a scene from tonight’s episode
Grey’s Anatomy – “Didn’t We Almost Have it All”
In the third-season finale, Cristina and Burke’s wedding day arrives, as do the final-exam results for the interns. Meanwhile, the new chief is named, and George and Callie arrive at a decision about their future as a couple. Watch a scene from tonight’s episode
CSI – “Living Doll”
The seventh season ends with the identity of the so-called miniature killer being revealed. As the CSIs track down the murderer, Sara mysteriously disappears and her personal relationship with Grissom is brought out into the open.
Supernatural – “All Hell Breaks Loose”
Conclusion. As the second season ends, the fight between Sam and Jake (Aldis Hodge) is over and Dean is left to handle the fallout, but being involved could cause him a great loss; and the hunters are menaced by the Demon and his spirits.
ER – “The Honeymoon is Over”
In the 13th-season finale, Kovac leaves his new bride and ER staff in the hands of a new chief (Stanley Tucci) bent on change while he visits his ailing father back in Croatia.
It’s Official: VERONICA MARS Canceled

It’s over. Yes, VERONICA MARS, one of the smartest and best acted shows on television over the past few years has officially been canceled by The CW. In its place…more Pussycat Dolls and a 7th Heaven-esque show set in Africa. And no, I’m not kidding. Oh and the kids of One Tree Hill will be back but they are fast forwarding the show to see the characters when they are out of college (and closer to the real ages of the actors that play them).
The rumors have been rampant for months that the show was going to be canceled, and over the past 48 hours the rumors were changing about every 5 minutes. I decided to hold off until today when the official word came out, because I didn’t want to get hopes up. But yeah, it’s done…and it sucks. At least we will get to hear Kristen Bell’s voice again, as she’s the narrator of The CW’s most promising new show Gossip Girl (created by The OC’s Josh Schwartz).
I’m not sure what Dawn Ostroff and her cronies at The CW are doing, but they sure as hell have given up on making quality television.
Anyone want to be depressed with me right about now?
THE OFFICE – NBC Upfront Red Carpet & After Party Pics

Well it’s taken me a few days, but I finally got around to posting my pics of the cast of THE OFFICE from last Monday’s NBC Upfronts. Of course I was excited beyond belief to see the cast of THE OFFICE. It’s never going to get old seeing them. Most of the cast came down to greet the fans before heading inside. John Krasinski and Jenna Fischer snuck in before we could see them. We called for Mindy and BJ and they gave us a quick wave (come on Ryan and Kelly). Rainn Wilson looked so not Dwight with his full beard, and the guys at ABC Upfront party were STILL talking about Angela Kinsey’s hotness the next day. Here’s a few shots from the cast’s arrival on the red carpet (with a few of my own shots thrown in for good measure):
…and then the after party
My friend Kelly (who you may all remember from GMMR’s coverage of last year’s Upfronts, and whom you will see more of later this week) snagged a fantastic photo with the cast, but alas I was too late.
In the pics below, make sure you take notice of where Kelly not only chose to sit, but where her hand was placed. Yes, only one of my friends would manage to place her hand in between John Krasinski’s legs. I’d call her a hussy, but it was just a fortunate mistake. As I mentioned before, I missed seeing John by about 10 minutes. Oh well, not a biggie. I did get to snag a few shots with the cast later and got some quality girl talk in with the fabulous Kate Flannery (whom I adore). I helped Phyllis take some pics of her with her friend in front of the famed fountain at Rockefeller Center, and I even got a chance to talk to the incredibly handsome Steve Carell, who said that he really liked the write-up of the day I spent on The Office…how cool is that?! And by cool I mean BIZARRE!! Here’s a few of the shots that Kelly and I snagged on Monday night.
THE OFFICE ‘Season Finale’ Thursday on Give Me My Remote

(WARNING! This post and its subsequent comments contain spoilers and speculation about the season finale of THE OFFICE. Read at your own risk!)
Here we are. The final Office Thursday of Season 3. It seems like just yesterday that we were all eagerly awaiting the outcome of Jim’s lovelorn confession to Pam. Had Jim moved to Stamford? Did Pam marry Roy? We got our answers but here we are nine months later and some of us are still nervous as ever as to the fate of Jim and Pam.
The questions are a bit different but my nerves are still shot. What will Jim’s reaction be to Pam’s beach day revelation? Will Jim move to NYC for the position with Corporate or will it be Michael, or even Karen? And if Karen gets the job, will she and Jim try to carry on their relationship long distance, or will he finally ‘let love in’ and be with his lobster, Pam – or will they just remain friends (no!)? And what the hell could Jan’s ‘big’ news possibly be? Oh the anticipation is killing me.
Thanks You Office Fans…
Before we get into our last Office Thursday, I wanted to say THANK YOU so much for all THE OFFICE fans that have supported Give Me My Remote lat year. I’ve personally had some incredible experiences over the past year and they are all because of your support for the show. We may talk about a lot of shows around here, but The Office fans are what keeps us going around here and I just wanted to acknowledge that…and you. So thanks again for everything.
We’ve got a ton of office gossip to get to…so let’s do this!!
We Wish You Well Jenna…
As many of you have now heard, Jenna Fischer fractured her lower back on Monday after falling down some steep stairs. She’s recovering in NYC until she is healthy enough to fly back to L.A.. The love has been pouring in and we at GMMR send our best wishes for a speedy recovery. If you’d like to send your well wishes to Jenna click here.
LIVE Office Chat TONIGHT…the last one, ever??
Yes, tonight may very well be the last LIVE Office chat we have at BuddyTV.com. On Monday at the Upfronts, NBC announced that NBC.com will be hosting live Office chats during the episodes next season. Depending on how that all falls out I may or may not be hosting our Buddy TV chats next season. Also, I can’t say too much but there’s always a chance I could be involved in the new chats over at NBC.com. I’ll let you know more when I know more. But for now click here to set a reminder for tonight’s Office chat which will begin at 7:30pm est.
Tonight on The Office…
“The Job” – Special ONE HOUR episode (begins at 8/7c)
In the hour-long Season 3 finale, the desk jockeys reflect on their day of beach competitions. Meanwhile, a corporate job opening sparks competition at Dunder Mifflin, as Michael, Jim and Karen journey to New York for interviews.(Since there were no photos available for “The Job” I thought I would use one from last year’s season finale. I’m using the power of positive thinking.)
- Watch 3 clips from tonight’s episode (Yahoo!)
- John & Jenna on the red carpet with Kristin Veitch and Michael Ausiello (scrolling video list on the right)
- Kate, Phyllis, Leslie, and Craig talk with Michael Ausiello
Greg Daniels & BJ Novak Live Blog after the Show…
B.J. Novak and Executive Producer Greg Daniels will be live blogging after tonight’s east coast airing of The Office. Will they be feeling the love or fielding the hate? Either way we’ll get their take on the season and the finale right after the show. You can head over there now to start leaving comments. To be honest, these blogs are usually tough to follow, but they are a great read when they are over and done with. (Live Blog with Greg & BJ tonight)
Sooo much more Office Thursday after the jump

UPDATE (May 23, 2007): Congratulations Jordin Sparks!! For a full recap of the AMERICAN IDOL Season Finale click here
Originally posted on Wednesday, May 16th
Let me be the first to congratulate Jordin Sparks on her AMERICAN IDOL win. Ok, so maybe the season finale isn’t for another week, but since Melinda Doolittle was booted tonight that leaves Sparks and Blake Lewis in the final two. As much as I love Blake and would love to see him win, Jordin has this one wrapped up. And if I’m wrong I will be the first one to apologize. It’s going to be a crazy season finale!!!
I’m still in shock that Melinda was voted off tonight, but she conducted herself with the grace she has since Day One. With the right producer Melinda has the ability to be up there with Celina, Barbara, Whitney and the other greats. I truly believe that. I think marketing Melinda is going to be the biggest struggle. Don’t make her sell out 19 Entertainment…she’s a class act and you should treat her as on.

I know that there’s not way that I can properly express to you how much fun I’ve had over the past two days. As a TV lover it’s been one hell of a ride. I want to thank the people that made yesterday happen…you know who you are 🙂
Last night’s ABC Upfront after party was such a blast! Stars everywhere you looked. ABC had the cast from their top shows in attendance ready to schmooze with the advertising execs…and have a little fun. I tried my best to get a few shots of some of our favorite stars.
Having missed the group shots of the cast of THE OFFICE and HEROES on Monday night, I didn’t want to miss out on the ABC pics last night. I had a game plan which I put into play right away…and by right away I mean right after I hit the bar.
Actually it was on my way to the bar where I ran into the stunning (and newly engaged) Kate Walsh. Yowza that woman is hot!! After passing Kate I looked across to the other side of the car to see Jerry O’Connell and Josh Holloway grabbing some drinks themselves. Seriously? Seriously!
The Cast of Grey’s Anatomy
Ok so with a drink in hand it was time to get down to business. I made my way over to the cast of GREY’S ANATOMY. In attendance and looking fab were The Chief (James Pickens Jr.), Dr. Bailey (Chandra Wilson), Alex (Justin Chambers), Callie (Sara Ramirez), Christina (Sandra Oh), Mark/McSteamy (Eric Dane), and Meredith (Ellen Pompeo). My friend Kelly and my new friend Erica wasted no time greeting the cast and getting ready for our groups shots. I had some business to take care of first, and that involved asking Ellen Pompeo to switch places with me so I could snuggle up with McSteamy. I’m no dummy. Ellen kindly allowed me my moment and I got to take a pic with McSteamy by my side. Sigh!
The Cast of Private Practice
Next up was the cast of the Grey’s Anatomy spin-off, PRIVATE PRACTICE. And yes, Taye Diggs was in the house!!! Taye has been on the top of my swoon worthy guy list for years, so this was a special moment…for him to I’m sure 😉 Joining Taye were his Private Practice co-stars Kate Walsh, Amy Brennerman, Paul Adelstein, Merrin Dungey and Chris Lowell. Once again I took full advantage of my situation and talked my way into standing with Chris Lowell and Taye Diggs. Yup, I have no shame.
After spending time in line waiting for Grey’s and PP, I was afraid I was losing out on precious time hunting for, um, I mean looking for Michael Vartan. Oh yes, Vartan was in the house. But as much as it pains me to say it, I didn’t get to meet him. Hell I didn’t even see him from afar. By the time I made it to the other side of the room he had already left. Dang!!
Stars of Ugly Betty
With no Vartan in sight, I started looking for the other Michael I was hoping to meet – UGLY BETTY’s Michael Urie (Marc). But again, just as luck would have it, Michael and many of the other Ugly Betty cast members were gone by the time I got over there. I did snag a pic with the utterly FAB Becki Newton (Amanda) and the legendary Judith Light (Clare Meade) as well as little Mark Indelicato (Justin) who I congratulated on his fantastic song and dance performance at the upfronts (teeny tiny video snippets are coming soon). Eric Mabius, Ana Ortiz, and Tony Plana were also spotted but I didn’t get a chance to get a picture.
Although I didn’t get to meet many of them, there were just a ton of stars on hand. I passed by countless including the casts of Brothers & Sisters, Desperate Housewives, Boston Legal, October Road…so many it’s hard to even remember them all. Just a kick ass night…and one I won’t soon forget.

Give Me My Remote sends our best wishes to THE OFFICE’S Jenna Fischer who fractured her lower back in four places after falling down some stairs on Monday. According to PopCandy, Jenna’s best friend and co-star, Angela Kinsey, has been with Jenna throughout the ordeal and Jenna’s husband James Gunn has flown to New York to be with her.
Because of her injury, Jenna had to cancel her appearance last night on Conan. I saw Jenna in the early part of the evening on Monday so the fall must have happened soon after leaving the NBC Upfront party.
So from all of us here at Give Me My Remote, we wish you all the best in your speedy recovery Jenna!!
Leave your well wishes for Jenna here at GMMR and/or her MySpace page.
Gilmore Girls Series Finale Recap: Bon Voyage
May 16, 2007 by Kath Skerry
A round of applause and a very special thanks to Whirl for her weekly recaps of GILMORE GIRLS. Sadly, this is the last recap as the world of Lorelai and Rory Gilmore ends…well as least as we know it. They will always live on in our hearts. Where you lead…I will follow.
I haven’t yet had a chance to watch last night’s episode, but I will later on tonight…armed with a box of kleenex, because there will be crying – oh yes, there will be crying.
Title: “Bon Voyage”
Original Airdate (Season Finale Date): May 15, 2007
GMMR Recapper: Whirl
Well it’s hard to believe but it’s true, Gilmore Girls has ended. After 7 years, amazing characters, a rocky season and the beauty that was Luke Danes it’s time to say goodbye. I’m happy to say they did it better then I imagined, so let’s get to it shall we?
Lorelai drives up to the Dragonfly Inn pulling along a pajama clad Rory. Seems Christina Amanpour, a fancy CNN correspondent is staying at the Inn and Lorelai wants to show Rory. Too bad her daughter didn’t believe her so she didn’t change out of said pajamas. Michel begs Lorelai not to embarrass herself by approaching Amanpour but she does it anyway. It goes smoothly and she introduces her to Rory who is awe struck. Of course Mz. Fancy Newspaper Lady is impressed by the young prodigy so she hands over her card and suggest Rory send her some writing samples before she heads out to catch her cab. Okay really…I want Rory’s life.
Back at home Rory is stamping envelopes and Lorelai is planning their road trip. Mother and daughter are heading cross country to ride on different roller coasters. I wasn’t aware of their speed fascination but okay then. That is why Rory is stamping envelopes, she’s sending out over 70 resumes so she can relax on the trip. The ladies turn their attention to the status of their love lives. Rory is having a hard time with the Logan break-up, the heartache is coming in waves, but Lor promises it will only get better. I haven’t broken up with a lot of millionaire heartthrobs who wanted to marry me so I’m no help on this topic. As for Luke (sigh) Lorelai is certain they’re done because he hasn’t reciprocated to any moment where she’s put herself out there. She wants a guy who can show that he loves her, and beside they’re better as friends. Oh and Lor has just told Rory about her big town square graduation reenactment ceremony/party. To say Rory isn’t happy about it is putting it mildly.
House Recap: “The Jerk”

Title: The Jerk
Original Airdate: May 15, 2007
GMMR Recapper: LaLa
“The Jerk” certainly is a very apt title for this episode of House, isn’t it? I mean, not only do we get the most evil teenage patient of all time (a nasty little piece of work named Nate), but we also have House doing really jerky things to Foreman. The worst was the stunt he pulled at the end, where instead of finally telling Foreman that he wants him to stay, House instead makes Foreman stay up all night doing pointless tests. I’m not quite sure what that was about: was House trying to further demonstrate to Foreman that he wasn’t ready to be on his own because he was still blindly following House’s orders? Or was he just trying to stick it to Foreman because he’s mad that Foreman’s leaving? Personally, I’m inclined to think it a little of Column A and a little of Column B – but I could be wrong. What did you all think of that, oh faithful readers?

HEROES – NBC Upfront Red Carpet Pics
May 15, 2007 by Kath Skerry
I’ve been non-stop since I got to NYC yesterday and I’m just getting around to posting the pics from last night’s NBC Upfront party now. Sorry. Believe me, if I had time I would have done it earlier. I was a little too inebriated to post them last night, and this afternoon I was busy with my REAL job before it was off to ABC for the presentation and party tonight. But I wanted to share a few pics of our faves from NBC.I snagged pics of a few stars at the walked the red carpet into the event. From where I was standing it wasn’t all that easy to snag photos, but I did what I could.
A few more pics came from the crazy fun after party at Rockefeller Center. It was a gorgeous night with fantastic food and lots and lots of free booze (which I most certainly enjoyed). TV stars of THE OFFICE, HEROES and FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS seemed to be everywhere I looked, as well as the stars of the new NBC shows. Personally I was thrilled to have the chance to finally meet and chat with the creator of THE OC, Josh Schwartz. Josh was there with the cast of his new NBC show, “Chuck” (which looks really promising). Also, I was introduced to an NBC big wig (the biggest of all the wigs) who upon finding out I was a blogger asked for my business card (which thankfully I had handy).
I grabbed the pics that I could for you. It was a long day and I look really bad in most of these pics…but I really couldn’t let my vanity stop me from sharing pics of some of your favorite stars.
The Cast of HEROES
The cast of HEROES were the first to walk the red carpet and the only cast to take the stage during the Upfront presentation. Greg Grunberg (Matt) was the first one to come over and he was really sweet. I was excited to meet Greg as I’ve been a fan of his for years with “Felicity”, “Alias” and now “Heroes. Milo Ventimliglia (Peter) really took the time with all his fans, stopping for pics with anyone who asked. Others who stopped by our way were Jack Coleman (HRG), Noah Gray-Cabey (Micah), and Masi Oka (too cute for words that guy). I did get to see all of the HEROES cast, but some of them were just from afar.
I wasn’t quick enough to get any photos of the cast inside the party, but I saw Zachary Quinto (Sylar) throughout the night. He was one of the last celebs to leave. We were standing at the bar together at one point, but I didn’t talk to him…dude, he’s Sylar…I was scared.
(Click on the links below to enlarge. To see the full size versions of these pics, you will need to click one again from the next screen. If the pics aren’t working, please email me so I can fix them ASAP).
UP NEXT: Check back VERY soon for the cast of THE OFFICE at the Upfronts.
News from the ABC Upfronts

All the other networks should take note – ABC knows how to make a presentation (and throw a party). I got settled into Lincoln Center this afternoon ready to hear all about ABC’s fall schedule. Little did I know it was going to be such a fun party.
After a short intro from the suits, the lights dim and Mark Indelicato (Justin) from UGLY BETTY takes the stage singing an Ugly Betty-ized “One” from A Chorus Line. Before you know it, he’s joined by the fabulous Michael Urie (Marc) and Becki Newton (Amanda) and the three are giving us a full on Broadway number. Squee!! The queen herself, America Ferrera, soon joined them as did the rest of the cast of the show. Flanked by a full on poncho-wearing chorus line the cast brought down the house. It was only about 15 minutes in and ABC has already blown NBC’s upfront presentation out of the water.
Jimmy Kimmel soon took the stage and entertained us for a bit. I think Jimmy Kimmel has one of the best late night shows, and never fails to make me laugh.
Honestly, that would have been enough for me, but the fun continued with a look at the fall season lineup. Based on the extended promos shown tonight, some of their new shows seems really good…others, not so much.

HEROES Recap: Landslide

Now that I’ve caught up on HEROES and became a huge fan of the show, I hate when I miss an episode. But that’s just what happened last night, and as a result I can’t read Julie sure-to-be-fantastic recap. I need to get caught up on some MAJOR television viewing tomorrow night. But feel free to comment away and show the love – I’ll read and respond to your comments when I et caught up tomorrow night.
“Landslide”
Original Air Date: 5/14/2007
GMMR Recapper: Julie
After the meeting with Ted, Peter, Parkman, Bennett, and Claire (isn’t it exciting how all the heroes are finallly coming together? I see a few of them in the same frame and I’m like, “Sweet!”), Peter manages to control his newly incendiary self, so Claire doesn’t have to shoot him, which is, as Martha would put it, A Good Thing. After a little tete-a-tete with her dad, Claire splits off to take flameworthy friends Ted and Peter to a secluded country spot where if they explode it won’t spell the end for everyone in NYC. Bennett and Parkman, however, head into Evil Primatech’s NYC HQ to destroy the tracking device we met last week — remember sweet little Molly?
Sylar, aurally gifted sneak that he is, heard all about their plans from around the corner and plans to follow Claire, Ted, and Peter as they head out of the city. Great idea, dimwit. Don’t you realize you can’t blow up the city if you never get the power of kaboom? You foolish, foolish sociopath. Way to angst about it and then walk head-slicingly right into your own fate.
