THE OFFICE Thursday on Give Me My Remote

The Office Thursday on Give Me My Remote

Is anyone else really nervous about tonight? An episode of THE OFFICE shouldn’t have me popping Tums this early in the morning. But I’ve seen the promos and I’ve been reading all the spoilers (or foilers) that have been floating around this things called the world wide web, and I’m nervous, anxious and on the verge of being scared. Lord, beer me strength to make it to the finale. I trust the writers, I trust the writers – it’s been my mantra all season and I can’t give up on them yet.

IMPORTANT! Out of respect for spoiler-phobes, if you are going to leave a comment about tonight’s episode or any of the speculation/spoilers you’ve heard this week about the season finale of The Office, PLEASE make sure you start your comment with “SPOILER ALERT”. This way those who don’t want to know anything can just skip over your comments. I’m going to be monitoring the comment as best as I can but if you could do this for me it would be a big help.

You Know Your Stuff…
Last week we had a little Office trivia contest here on Give Me My Remote. I selected a winner at random from all the correct entries, and I’m happy to report that Jessica was the big winner. Jessica can choose anything from the GMMR store. Thanks to everyone for playing. The trivia contest got such a good response we might bring it back soon.

The Upfronts…
NBC logo Monday is the big day! That’s when we will find out whether or not NBC has decided to extend The Office to one hour each week. We will also find out if the show will remain at 8:30pm or move to the rumored 9pm timeslot. I was lucky enough to score an invite to NBC’s Upfronts presentation, so I will be there live when the news is announced. The second I can make my way to a computer I will be sure to share the scoop with all of you. It should be fun. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to see the cast, and if I do I’ll send them your love 🙂

LIVE Office Chat TONIGHT…
The Office ChatWe are getting down to the wire. I hope you are all ready for what I am expecting to be a pretty lively Office chat tonight. You know the drill by now. We all meet up over at BuddyTV around 8pm and watch the show together. I hope you can make it. Bring a friend, all are welcome! Click here to set a reminder for the Office chat.

Tonight on The Office…
The Office, Beach Games“Beach Games”Supersized (special time: 8:42pm ES)
Michael’s under consideration for a corporate position. To find his successor, he takes the team to the beach and puts them through a series of grueling games. It’s Survivor: Dunder-Mifflin — outwit, outplay, outlast.

I’ve watched the promos for tonight’s episode (oh about 50 times) and let me just say this – if the NBC promo monkeys are screwing with us I’m seriously going to kick some ass. You can’t toy with our emotions…not after everything we’ve been through since ‘Casino Night’. Here’s to hoping they aren’t just screwing with us – please.

From the desk of Meredith Palmer…
Kate Flannery (Meredith Palmer) on The OfficeKate Flannery is back and this week she gives us a little insight on what it was like to shoot tonight’s episode “Beach Games”. From the perils of being on location to working again with director Harold Ramis, we get a look behind the curtain. Kate also gives us the scoop on her recent trip to the Kentucky Derby – oh to be a celebrity. Leave Kate a comment – I know she reads them. (Kate’s Blog)

Title: Unto The Breach
Original Airdate: 5/8/07
GMMR Recapper: Whirl

I know you’ve probably all heard the news; Gilmore Girls is going the way of 7th Heaven and no I do not mean cancelled, renewed and then cancelled again, I mean just plain cancelled. So this ladies and gentleman was the second to last episode ever. Let’s see how they’re setting up our ending shall we?

Lorelai is walking around town with Sookie, listing off things she has to do before Rory’s graduation/party that’s in the next couple days. She’s stressed enough thinking about Logan’s request for Rory’s hand because she keeps waiting to hear if the boy actually proposed or not. To top it all off Lorelai can’t stop thinking about her Whitney Houston moment a few nights before. Sookie tells her the whole town is a buzz about Lor singing to Luke. Lorelai is sure she felt something when she sang it but she’s not sure if its “old feelings” or “new feelings”, so she decides to go into Luke’s later on to find out for sure. Hurry up Lor, you have a grand total of 1.85 episodes to realize he’s your soul mate and beg for him back.

LaKisha Jones Booted from AMERICAN IDOL

LaKisha Jones Booted from AMERICAN IDOLThe final four became the final three tonight after LaKisha Jones was sent home from AMERICAN IDOL. The wonderfully talented LaKisha fought back tears as Daughtry’s “Home” played over her farewell video. But this isn’t the end of the road for LaKisha, she’ll be signed to a record deal soon enough. So farwell and best of luck to LaKisha.

So now it’s down to Melinda, Blake and Jordin.  A very satisfying final three.  It’s really anyone’s game at this point in time.

VERONICA MARS Recap: Debasement Tapes

UPDATE: Sorry about the comments not working. I’ve been away from GMMR all day and didn’t realize that there were technical difficulties. They should be working now. If they aren’t, please email me at info(at)givememyremote(dot)com.

Before you read on, I wanted to let everyone know that MeeVee has an exclusive interview with Paul Rudd and Ken Marino.  The two old friends sadly didn’t share any screen time in last night’s episode, but there’s always next time (please come back Paul Rudd)

Last night’s VERONICA MARS reminded me of how I left after watching last night’s AMERICAN IDOL. Underwhelmed. With both shows down to the wire I don’t want simply enjoyable performances, I want to be wowed! I want to be thrilled! I want to be left feeling satisfied. BeeGees night on Idol didn’t do it for me, and neither did last night’s episode of Veronica Mars. I know how genius Veronica Mars can be, so when we get an episode like this one I feel a bit cheated. We might only have a handful of eps left…don’t bail on me now.

Title: “Debasement Tapes”
Original Airdate: May 8, 2007

Piz was chosen to play babysitter to has been rock star Desmond Fellows (Paul Rudd) who was at Hearst to play a first amendment benefit concert. Fellows was once a member of an uber-hip rock band called My Little Pretty Pony, but when his band mate (played by show creator Rob Thomas…yes, I have some amazing eyes) died Fellows was left trying to relive the glory days of yesteryear by singing along with tracks of his old band. Upon arriving in Neptune, Fellows realizes that the tapes with the backing tracks were stolen from his backpack and replaced with a bathrobe.

Although still a bit weary from their awkward hookup, Piz enlists Veronica to help locate the tapes. While Piz and Veronica are determined to get the tapes back in time for the concert, Desmond Fellows is living the life of a aging rock star on a college campus – drinking, flirting, and yes, even skinny dipping, an offense that lands him in the Neptune jail for a few hours.

After following a few leads, Veronica finally figures out the mystery of the missing tapes. Seems Desmond accidentally picked up the wrong bag at the airport. How conveniently boring. Piz and Veronica finally get the tapes and in doing so discover some of Desmond’s new music which they both agree is great. Faking traffic, Piz tells Desmond he won’t be able to make it with the My Pretty Pony tapes and Desmond is going to have to try out his new stuff. He does, and of course it’s well received. Aw. Snooze.

VERONICA MARS Closer to Being Renewed?

VERONICA MARS Closer to Being Renewed?

Yeah, I’ve heard the buzz over the past few days.  Seems that with the cancellation of GILMORE GIRLS, our little VERONICA MARS may be rising from the dead.  I’ve been a bit hesitant to say much about it because it seems almost a little too good to be true. And to be honest, I wasn’t sure how much of this buzz was created by VM creator and #1 cheerleader Rob Thomas.  If you read the various reports from the big boys over at The Hollywood Reporter and Variety they all seem to be reporting the same story and with the same source – Rob Thomas.  I’d feel a bit more hopeful if someone from The CW was cited. But at this point I will take what I can get and allow myself to be cautiously optimistic.  I’ve been burned in the past and so I’m keeping my expectations low.

But what if VERONICA MARS is renewed?  Will it be the show we know and love?  Rumors are that the full cast (including Jason Dohring) won’t be back, and even Papa Mars (Enrico Colantoni) might not be a regular if the ‘Veronica Mars: The FBI Years’ reinvention of the show is picked up.  I konw VM has always been about the powerhouse Kristen Bell, but I happen to think that her co-stars had a little something to do with the fans love for the show. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Meanwhile, I’m just settling in to watch last night’s episode of VM.  I will be back with a full recap a bit later today.  I didn’t mean to TiNo Veronica, but I’m old and I fell asleep on the couch in the middle of the show last night.  I considered watching it when I woke up at 2am, but I wanted to give it my full attention this morning. The parts I saw were great, and I personally would love to see Paul Rudd around Neptune a bit more (not like that would ever happen). Ok off to watch VM.

House Recap: Resignation

Title: “Resignation”
Original Airdate: May 8, 2007
GMMR Recapper: LaLa

So what do you do when you’ve been unhappy for your whole life, and you’re not really sure why? Well, if you’re the patient of the week, i.e. a 19-year old girl, you try to kill yourself in a sneaky smart way that isn’t easily detectable by doctors. If you’re House, you finally listen to Wilson and start taking anti-depressants. Also, you ask out a hot young nutritionist (played by Piper Perabo) who is 26 years old and has “the wisdom of a much younger woman.”

Man, House must really want this girl – he even drank mint tea for her, which he openly admitted that he hated. Cameron, you better work fast if you want to snag House – because despite your trying-to-be-affectionate yet totally random wake up call to House, the man is just not going for it. I’m gonna go ahead and say it: Girl, he’s just not that into you. It’s time to move on to younger, hotter, sweeter, better-human-being pastures, like Chase. Yes, the guy is an obvious brown-noser; but seriously, you’re never going to do better. Ever.

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE Premiere Dates Set

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE Premiere Dates Set

It’s time to get your dance on people. That is if you think can dance…so do you? I know I can’t, but that’s why I like watching others do it on TV. Last year I became a tad bit obsessed with SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE (ok I even went to the post-show tour). But seriously, it’s a fun show. I think you should give it a shot this season – we can watch it together. It will be fun!
SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE will premiere with an 85-minute special on Thursday, May 24 at 8:00/7:00c before settling into its regular time periods (Wednesdays at 8pm with the results show airing on Thursdays at 9pm). I’m not sure if this year’s contestants can ever replace Jailbait Ivan, BF Travis, Benji, Cousin Heidi and the rest of last year’s cast, but I’m willing to give them a try. And even if the dancers suck, we always have Cat Deely. I love Cat Deely.

LIVE Blogging BeeGees Night on AMERICAN IDOL

LIVE Blogging BeeGees Night on AMERICAN IDOL

I like the BeeGees just as much as the next gal, but a whole night dedicated to their music on AMERICAN IDOL? Not sure I’m looking forward to this one. The final four are signing two songs each. Let’s hope that they recruited Timberlake and Fallon to do a little Barry Gibb Talkshow to really make the night interesting. For now I’m just distracted by Barry Gibb’s Sean Connery impression. Has he always talked like that?

Melinda Doolittle – She sang a song I that I never heard, and I was a bit bored with it. ‘Inside and Out’…do you know it? There wasn’t anything challenging or exciting about the song. The judges weren’t overwhelmed, and I don’t think anyone watching could be either. Paula made a great point (yes, you read that correctly). She said that Melinda’s vocal is always so good that it’s no longer about her voice, it’s all about a standout performance.

A commercial for So You Think You Can Dance – starting on May 24th. YES!! I wonder what Jailbait Ivan and BF Travis are doing these days? I miss those boys.

Blake Lewis – Oh no! Blake took on ‘You Should be Dancing’. I didn’t love it. He overdid the beat boxing and I’m afraid the judges are going to rip him for it. Oh Blake I hope they like you more than I did. I’m worried that his genius of last week made him a little cocky. The judges kind of ripped it.

LaKisha Jones – A slower, sexier version of ‘Stayin’ Alive’ and I kind of dig it – a little. Again, it didn’t blow me away. I think these singers are better than a night of BeeGees music. They should have had this night much earlier and let the singers showcase their powerhouse vocals with a different genre of music. Once again the judges weren’t loving it.

Jordin Sparks – Oh I think we are ready for THE performance. She sounded amazing in the pre-performance video. She’s signing ‘To Love Somebody’ (I love this song). Damn GIRL! Jordin most certainly takes round 1 tonight. She killed it – especially the hook right near the end. Dayum this girl can sing. Judges loved her and she is definitely in the lead so far.

Heroes

Title: “The Hard Way”
Original Air Date: 5/7/2007
GMMR Recapper: Julie

After a couple interesting, twisty-turny episodes, we get a pretty uneventful one, that feels like it’s just gearing up for the season finale. Just two more eps to go, people!

Back from the future, comic book in hand, Hiro and Ando head to Isaac’s, unaware that he’ll no longer be able to fill in the blanks in his book, seeing as he’s, you know, dead. Sylar has already taken advantage of his newly acquired talent to paint his future, but it’s one that kind of freaks him out. He sees himself as the exploding man, a revelation that you’d think he’d take lightly given his penchant for brain theft, but he’s actually disturbed. He doesn’t want to kill the innocent, just those from whom he can enjoy some personal gain. What a moralistic guy.

Ex-Idol Tamyra Gray to Star in RENT

Ex-Idol Tamyra Gray to Star in RENTI’m a Renthead through and through. Five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred minutes haven’t gone by without me seeing one live production of this show. It was just last week when I found out that original Broadway cast members (and stars of the movie version) Antony Rapp and Adam Pascal would be reprising their roles of Mark and Roger, respectively, staring in late July. Now today I hear that one of my favorite former AMERICAN IDOL contestants, Tamyra Gray, will be taking on the role of Mimi starting on May 29th. No word yet on how long Gray will stay with the production at the Nederlander Theatre in NYC, but if she overlaps with Rapp and Pascal’s appearances it’s going to be amazing. Let’s just hope I can get tickets.

For those of you who didn’t watch Idol way back in Season 1, here’s a taste of the talent of Tamyra Gray. I get chills at the end of this performance every single time I watch it.

The end of GILMORE GIRLS is definite. The end of VERONICA MARS is probable. Somehow Tuesday night became a much more important night of TV.

MeeVee RecommendsGilmore Girls — Unto the Breach
Rory and Paris graduate! At the big graduation party, Lorelai and Chris figure out if they can stand each other anymore, and Logan proposes to Rory. Will there be wedding bells for the junior Lorelai?

Veronica MarsVeronica Mars — Debasement Tapes
A once-famous rock star (Paul Rudd) agrees to play a benefit concert at Hearst, but the gig is placed in jeopardy when someone steals music tapes from his hotel room. Piz, who is the musician’s escort on campus, gets Veronica to take the case.

HouseHouse — Resignation
A 19-year-old (Lyndsy Fonseca) coughs up blood and her condition soon deteriorates. House surmises that her body is “confused” and thinks she has an infection, though none can be found.

MeeVee RecommendsAmerican Idol — Top 4 Perform Live!
The Top Four belt it out to win America’s heart and the big prize. Will someone crack under the pressure? God, we can only hope so — nobody likes grace under pressure. The theme is BeeGees songs, so break out your platforms and your bell-bottoms and get ready for a little disco fever!

MeeVee RecommendsDancing with the Stars — 8th Round Results
Results from the Latin and Ballroom competition on Monday. Also, Nelly Furtado performs “All Good Things” and “I’m Like a Bird”; Maksim Chmerkovskiy has a dance-off with his with brother Val. As if this weren’t enough, Jimmy Kimmel also teaches us all how to waltz. Will the fun never stop?

Um, what?? Soooo, China raided CTU and killed all those people just in order to kidnap Josh Bauer, aka Jack’s nephew/son, because Daddy Bauer wanted him back?! I mean, yes, obviously Daddy Bauer was demanding his grandson in exchange for cracking the Russian codes for the Chinese… but still, couldn’t they have waited until Josh went home the next morning?? And if that’s all they’re at CTU for, then why the heck did they execute the “Head of CTU”??? (i.e. Milo, who was trying to protect Nadia… well, at least the dude went out with a noble sacrifice…) But seriously, what purpose did that serve? Especially since they ended up using Nadia (once they discovered her real identity) to fool Doyle in the end. And oh yes: how the heck did Daddy Bauer get a hold of the CTU over-ride codes in the first place?!?!

So many questions and needless, nonsensical events in this episode… my head hurts. Speaking of, what is wrong with slutty Presidential aid Lisa? Did the girl take a stupid pill before she went back to her traitorous boyfriend’s apartment, or did she somehow forget that “going to take a shower” is NOT the ONLY reasonable excuse to go to the bathroom. How about: “I really need to go to the bathroom.” Not sexy, no, but perfectly valid. Or: “I feel ill – I think I ate something bad – I really need to go to the bathroom.”

NBC’s MEDIUM Renewed for 2007-08

I can’t say that I’m a fan of NBC’s MEDIUM (sorry but that psychic stuff freaks me out a little bit too much), but I know many of you are, so I wanted to pass along the news that MEDIUM just received an early renewal from NBC.  The show will be back for a fourth season next year.

“‘Medium’ is a quality show with an outstanding star that has always delivered a very loyal audience,” said NBC Entertainment President Kevin Reilly. “We are pleased to know that we can look forward to more of its unique storytelling next year under executive producer Glenn Gordon Caron’s superb creative vision.”

So for Jennifer G. and all the other MEDIUM fans out there, I see many fantastic episodes in your future (see, that was me trying to do the psychic thing…ah, forget it).
