John Krasinski Interviews (IESB & The Today Show)

It’s the summer months and there just so many posts I can write up about So You Think You Can Dance and the other summer reality shows that I’m watching (which are few and far between because even TV bloggers like to enjoy the summer months). So yeah, I’m going to be posting John Krasinski interviews and news leading up to the premiere of LICENSE TO WED. Gotta support the boy. Here’s two to start off with.
The Today Show
Although my TiVo was telling me John Krasinski and Mandy Moore would be on The Today Show on the 27th, they were actually on this morning. It was a very brief interview, but for those who missed it, click here to watch.
IESB
The guys over at IESB land some great interviews (if only I lived in LA). Check out John talking about working with Robin Williams, George Clooney and just how he became the latest kid in the Jolie-Pitt clan. Click the video below to watch.
Dundies and OFFICE Cast Bobbleheads Coming Soon
June 19, 2007 by Kath Skerry
Maybe you weren’t the hottest in the office, or perhaps you didn’t have the whitest sneakers, but that doesn’t mean you don’t deserve a Dundie. And now you can have one. Variety is reporting that NBC will soon offer the coveted Dundie award for sale on its website. So start thinking about new lyrics to classic songs, and book Chilis because now you can have your very own Dundie Awards!!
If that wasn’t cool enough, NBC is also going to be creating and selling bobbleheads of the entire cast of THE OFFICE. How fun! Now your Dwight bobblehead will have some playmates. There were rumors of these bobbleheads way back in the winter when I visited the set of The Office. At the time the idea was to create mini-bobbleheads of each character. Tanster and I pushed for the full size desktop dolls, er, collectibles (sorry Dwight) but no word yet on the they will look like or just how big they will be (that’s what she said).
I’m waiting for word on when this new merchandise will be available online. Once I know, you’ll know.
Thanks to eyegypt for the bobbleheads up.
AGE OF LOVE Recap: Meet the Cougars
June 19, 2007 by Kath Skerry
A kind and warm Give Me My Remote welcome to our newest recapper SB. SB will be taking on the role of recapping NBC’s summer reality show AGE OF LOVE. If you didn’t catch last night’s premiere episode or thought you might want to skip out on this show completely, give SB’s recap a read and she might just change your mind. Let’s show SB the GMMR love, and by love I mean comments.
Episode: One
Original Air Date: 06.18.07
GMMR Recapper: SB
Before I start this recap, there are things you should know about me. I’m a 26-year-old female and I love trashy reality shows. They’re as much a guilty pleasure for me as poppy rap, and I’ve not only watched The Bachelor—no, no. It started in college with Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire and I was so addicted to trainwreck TV that I started watching Joe Millionaire. And now I realize that those post-college single days of watching The Bachelor were just filler, just biding my time, waiting for the next really “special” reality dating show. And it is Age of Love.
The show had not even started yet when Billy (the boyfriend) and I started giving each other the sidelong looks and trying not to laugh. One of the first lines of the season preview was a Cougar (one of the 40-year-olds) saying, “If they wanna get nasty … we’ve been getting nasty for a lot longer.” Nice! I already love the editing on this show.
They’re really doing the Cougars a favor here by holding off the Kittens (20-year-olds) and letting us get to know them first. You totally hate to think it and admit it, but we’re a totally prejudiced society and hot 20-something females rule the world. Meanwhile, 40 is totally the new 30, or so I hear, and these women do NOT look like typical 40-year-olds. For the most part. And man, I am going to just admit to you right now that I am totally predisposed to hate the Kittens—I already imagine them to be bitchy and spoiled and immature—but I am also predisposed to cringe at the Cougars. I worry (and hope, a little, for the sake of entertaining recaps), that they will be desperate and a little pathetic. And later, when a Kitten echoes this sentiment, I feel really embarrassed and ashamed of myself. Still, it was probably intentional on the part of the producers.

NBC Wooing Jon Stewart

Filed under The Daily Show, TV News
NBC big wigs recently wined and dined Jon Stewart and his agent James Dixon in an effort to let the host of THE DAILY SHOW know that he has options if and when he ever decides to leave Comedy Central. Stewart is under contract with Comedy Central through 2008.
Moving to a mainstream network might be a great move for Jon Stewart, but I’m selfish and I want him to stay at Comedy Central and with The Daily Show. There is no way The Daily Show will be the same without Stewart at its helm. Please don’t leave The Daily Show Jon!

VERONICA MARS Fans Unite for a Good Cause
June 18, 2007 by Kath Skerry

VERONICA MARS may be over, but the work of its passionate fans is not. I recently received this email from fellow blogger Rae of Ramblings of a TV Whore letting me know of a new fan-driven initiative to raise money for Invisible Children, a non-profit organization featured on a recent episode of VM. Many of the cast and the crew of the show are involved in the organization, including Ryan Hansen (Dick Casablancas) and most recently Kristen Bell (Veronica).
As you all know, several folks who were on the cast/crew of Veronica Mars are involved with the Invisible Children non-proft organization. Well, after “I Know What You’ll Do Next Summer” featured Invisible Children and the story of a former child soldier, fans were eager raise money for the organization. In the end, we decided to sell t- shirts with two designs inspired by elements of the show. $5 from every t-shirt sold goes to Invisible Children. (Our store is actually set up so that any payment checks are made out and sent directly tothe folks at Invisible Children.) The great thing is, it’s a win-win situation. Fans get to donate to a good cause but also get a little something to remember the show.

Steve Carell Not Leaving THE OFFICE
June 18, 2007 by Kath Skerry
Filed under Steve Carell, The Office
I’ve been on a big Steve Carell kick as of late. What can I say…I’m smitten.
Despite his recent box office success which has turned him into one of the biggest movie stars in the world, Steve Carell won’t be leaving Scranton, PA anytime soon. In a recent interview with the Edmonton Sun, Carell talks about his love for THE OFFICE and why he doesn’t feel the need to leave the TV world behind for the big screen.
“I love it (there). I think, just in terms of writing and value, nothing beats that. It’s such a smart group of people and people are really devoted to the show …That sort of group doesn’t come together very often, in television or in movies. It’s sort of a brain-trust, especially the writing team. I’m extremely happy and still very proud to be a part of it.”
In Carell’s new movie, “Evan Almighy” his character, Even Baxter, is given the task of building an arc. So how would Michael Scott deal with the same task from God?
“He would probably get Creed to come in and build the ark because he wouldn’t want to do it himself. And (his girlfriend) Jan would end up convincing him not to do it because she runs roughshod over him anyway. In his mind, Jan might be more powerful than God.”

A New Hero for HEROES

Fanboys are about to be all kinds of jealous. Nick D’Agosto just landed one of the most coveted roles in all of TV. D’Agosto has signed on to play West, the boyfriend of Claire Bennett (Hayden Panettiere) on HEROES and we hear he has a super power. We don’t know yet just what West’s super power is, but reports are that it’s very cool. So is it cool as in he can turn anything into ice, or cool as he can set his TiVo my just using his mind? Looks like we are going to have to wait until the Fall to find out.

ENTOURAGE is Back with MEDELLIN
June 18, 2007 by Kath Skerry
With it’s third season ending just two weeks ago, ENTOURAGE returned last night with its season 4 premiere. An episode unlike any other, the viewer was given a behind the scenes look of the making of Vince’s passion project “Medellin”. Shown through the eyes of a documentary film crew, we get to see the film unfold from the moment the crew lands in Columbia up until the last shot of filming. And yes, we actually got to see Vincent Chase do a little bit of acting.
Eric showed he has a real future in producing by supporting the creative ideas of director Billy Walsh (who is an absolute loon) all while keeping hold of the already tight budget. What is up with Billy? I find his character absolutely exhausting to watch. I know all about the “creative genius” that he supposedly is, but I just wanted to smack him or at least put him in detox (because you know he’s snortin’ something.)
How about Vince as Pablo Escobar. We really didn’t see enough of him to figure out if he’s the next Marlon Brando, but he seemed to be doing well with the role. Although, if Vince really wanted to score big with this one, then he would’ve taken the time to gain the weight necessary for him to portray Escobar. His fat suit and make-up looked ridiculous and I for one would have been taken out of the movie in the very first scene…you know, if this was actually a real film.
Turtle and Drama were of course along for the ride, and as you may have expected, Drama was jockeying for the role in the movie (which he got, albeit a brief cameo). Ari and Lloyd were missed as there wasn’t much comedy to this half hour comedy. But I still found it a very interesting episode.
So Medellin is done. Will it be the critical masterpiece that all hope? Will the huge risk that E and Vince took pay off with box office success? Will Medellin bring Vince from an up-and-coming star to the big time? Let’s hope so, because it’s so much more fun when the boys have some bread to spend.
Steve Carell Back on The Daily Show
June 18, 2007 by Kath Skerry
Ex-Daily Show Correspondent, Steve Carell, will be making a return to The Daily Show with Jon Stewart tonight, but just as a guest to promote his new movie “Evan Almighty”. You think maybe he could slip in a Produce Pete segment, or run over to The Colbert Report and give us a little Even Stephven…just for old times sake?
This is definitely worth setting the TiVo for. I think the last time Steve was on The Daily Show was to promote “The 40-Year-Old Virigin” and it was frakkin’ hysterical. Check out his appearance here. I would show you the clip but Comedy Central took it down (damn you copyright laws!). Make sure you tune in tonight at 11pm on Comedy Central to watch.
For those of you who need a laugh, here is my favorite Daily Show sketch of all time*. Steve Carell & Stephen Colbert – Responsible Drinking.
* A close second was Mo Rocca fighting the polka guy that hated Garfield, but I can’t find that online anywhere!
