So today’s the day…I’m finally heading back to the East Coast. Thanks for your patience with me while I’ve been away. Keeping up with GMMR is a bit more difficult when I start the day three hours behind, but I try. I’m leaving Cali tonight and will be back in Boston tomorrow morning. First order or business – head over to Fenway and give my Red Sox a stern talking to. Is it that hard to win a game boys?
Price Is Right
It’s Bob Barker’s final appearance hosting the game show after 35 years, so let’s all come on down! What are the chances his parting words are “the price is wrong, bitch”?!
Daytime Emmy Awards
Honoring the best in soaps, game shows and talk shows. I wish they were more like the MTV Movie Awards, so we could nominate Rose O’Donnell and The Donald for Best Fight. And don’t forget that it’s no all about the soaps. Ellen will win for best talk show host (it’s a given, no) and The Office is nominated for their webisodes. Something for everyone.
Sweet Home Alabama
A fashion designer (Reese Witherspoon) is torn between two men: her wealthy fiancé (Patrick Dempsey) and her good-ol’-boy hubby (Josh Lucas).
The 40-Year-Old Virgin
A good-hearted nebbish (Steve Carell) looks for love with help from his three experienced co-workers.
Who Was Voted Off SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE?

Tonight it went from 20 to 18 as the first guy and the first girl were voted off SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. It’s so tough to be voted off the first week as you really haven’t had the opportunity to show your stuff or give the audience a chance to get to know you. But hey, those are the breaks.
Here’s how it works. The three couples with the lowest votes get once last chance to impress the judges as they Dance for their Lives in a short solo number. The judges then deliberate and send one guy and one girl home.
Dancing for their lives tonight were:
The Guys: Dominic Sandoval, Ricky Palomino, Cedric Gardner
The Girls: Ashlee Langas, Sabra Johnson, Faina Savitch
In the end the judges decided to send home…(find out after the jump)
RESCUE ME Recap: Babyface

Title: “Babyface”
Original Airdate: June 14, 2007
Last night was the Season 4 premiere of perhaps one of the best shows on television today, RESCUE ME. I was a late comer to this show and really only started watching last season, and I’m so glad I did. It’s not an easy show to watch. But it’s real and it’s honest, and real and honest aren’t always pretty. Especially for the FDNY.
The fourth season picks up 9 months after the end of Season 3. Tommy is being investigated for insurance fraud as the police believe that he took out a life insurance policy against Sheila as well as a new insurance policy out on the beach house a short time before it went up in flames. Everyone is convinced he’s going to jail for this one, but Tommy claims to not remember exactly what happened. The police don’t buy it, nor does Tommy’s lawyer who suggest Tommy lies rather than go back to the cops claiming he doesn’t know what happened. And as for what really did go down, all we know is that Tommy was rescued by a hot female volly (volunteer firefighter) played by the sexy Jennifer Esposito.
Per usual, nothing in Tommy Gavin’s life if working out for him. He is back with Janet. Well kind of. They are living under the same roof in a platonic relationship (let’s see how long that one lasts) and together raising “little no name” who may or may not be Tommy & Janet’s son. Neither of them are sure if the baby is Tommy’s or his recently departed brother, Jimmy. Although little no name might not be Tommy’s, Colleen sure as hell is. His former lesbian, born again daughter has turned into a sex crazed, drinking, pot smoking punk. While Tommy is frantic about his daughter’s behavior, Janet seemed unphased and reminds Tommy that Colleen is Gavin after all – what did he really expect?

So You Think You Can Dance
One guy and one girl will be the first to go home tonight. Who will it be? GMMRers seem to think it will be Faina and Ricky. I’m with you on Faina, but I think Ricky’s solo is going to save him from being eliminated.

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE Recap – Top 20 Perform
June 14, 2007 by Kath Skerry
Filed under Neil Haskell, So You Think You Can Dance, TV News
The real competition started tonight when the Top 20 dancers performed on Season 3 of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. This is going to be a crazy good season. These dancers are simply amazing. The Top 20 have so much talent, and if the first night of competition is any indication as to how hot this season will be we were in for a hellagood time.
Before we get into the break down of each of the couples, let me first say how excited I was to see the familiar faces of the S2 contestants in the audience. Last season’s winner, Benji Schwimmer, was there to cheer on lil sis Lacey. Finalist BF Travis was there to support his brother Danny. And then along for the ride were Donyelle, Dimtry, Allison and wait for it…wait for it…Jailbait Ivan. YAY!! I know there season is over and it’s all about the new kids, but it was so fun to see them again.
Ok on to Season 3…
Jamie & Hok were first up and danced a Hip Hop routine choreographed by Shane Sparks. Hok was lucky as he was able to dance his specialty during the first round. Jamie being a contemporary dancer wasn’t sure how she would fare, but Jaime more than held her own. It was hard not to watch Hok because he’s that good but Jamie did her thing. The judges all loved the dance (although Nigel slightly dissed Shane’s choreography…ouch) and gave Jamie her credit.
Anya & Danny were up next. The ballroom dancer from Russia and the trained, contemporary danced who just happens to be the adopted brother of BF Travis Wall (Season 2 finalist) took on The Jive. It was fun and fast and the two looked so good together. I will say that at times I was a little distracted by Danny’s very classical movements which seemed off for the jive, but the judges went crazy for the routine, so what do I know? These two were Mary Murphy’s favorite couple of the night, which is a big win for week one.
Lacey & Kameron took the stage next with a contemporary routine choreographed by the brilliant Mia Michaels. Listen, if it’s Mia Michaels then you best not screw it up, because not only will she kick your ass, but I’ll be right behind her because I want to enjoy her routine and now watch some dancers ruin it. Lucky for Lacey and Kameron their performance garnered no ass kicking. The choreography was INSANE and they more than did it justice. Lacey Schwimmer really surprised me by how fantastic she was in the genre of dance. She left it all out on the stage. I still think she might be a little full of herself, but if she can back it up then more power to her. Oh and on a side note…remember when we kept hearing from her big brother Benji last season how he was saving himself for marriage? Yeah, I’d bet a year’s salary that little sis Lacey doesn’t share her brother’s view on abstinence. Something tells me she’s dirrty and I’m convinced she and Kameron took in some ‘late night’ practicing.
YOU Cast GREY’S ANATOMY!!!
June 13, 2007 by Kath Skerry
Filed under Grey's Anatomy, Jason Dohring, Josh Jackson
In the season finale of GREY’S ANATOMY we find out that there’s a new crop of interns on their way into Seattle Grace. We’ve already met Lexi Grey but her fellow first years were hardly seen. Let’s see if we can’t help out Shonda Rhimes in the casting of the new interns.
Who do you think should be in the running for a Seattle Grace newbie? Remember…if we want GREY’S ANATOMY back on track next season, we need some fresh blood that can actually hold their own against the rest of the cast and with Shonda’s dialogue. In other words, we need actors…and good ones (and it certainly doesn’t hurt if they’re hot).
I’ll throw a few out there to get us started and then it’s all you…
Jason Dohring (formerly on Veronica Mars) & Joshua Jackson (formerly of Dawson’s Creek)
Yes, I know both of these men happen to be near the top of my TV boyfriend list, but that’s not why they make the cut…seriously. I think both Jason and Josh have a strong sensibility about them. They can handle the drama and the sly comedic styling that is necessary for Grey’s. Grey’s writers are already on record as saying they are big Veronica Mars fans. Half the cast has already guested as patients in Seattle Grace. And as for Josh, well I’m bewildered everyday as to how he hasn’t landed himself another big TV gig. He’s amazing!
Evan Rachel Wood (formerly of Once & Again)
I’m not sure what Evan Rachel Wood is up to these days. The only time I ever see Wood is when she’s snapped by the ‘razi alongside her boyfriend Marilyn Manson. I think it’s about time we get Evan back on TV. Yes, she’s is probably too young to be an intern, but I think she could pull it off. She’s a powerhouse of an actress as she proved at a young age on Once & Again, and then later in the movie Thirteen. She’s a little spitfire and she’d fit in well on Grey’s.
Autumn Reeser (formerly of The OC)
I’m not sure if it’s Autumn Reeser I’d like to see on Grey’s, or if it’s her former alter ego Taylor Townsend, but I’d be fine with either. As she showed on The OC, Autumn has the chops to pull off sultry, sexy yet smart – something perfect for a young doctor. She would be great. But then again, so would Taylor Townsend. Her upbeat, annoyingly shiny outlook on life would be a perfect fodder for the cynicism of Grey’s. Couple that with her obvious sex appeal and I think you’d have something special.
…ok your turn!!
Isaiah Washington Speaks
June 13, 2007 by Kath Skerry
Isaiah Washington has broken his silence on his recent firing from GREY’S ANATOMY. Washington told Entertainment Weekly that he is “saddened by the outcome.” “I did everything that the producers and the network asked me to do. I came back under great duress and stress, and thought I was doing the job I was hired to do.”As for how he was told of the news, show creator Shonda Rhimes called him personally. “[Grey’s creator] Shonda Rhimes called me on Thursday of last week and told me that I would not be returning to the show,” Washington says. “Just like she personally called me and invited me to the show. It was full circle.”
As for his relationship with his former GREY’S castmates, one can infer that things weren’t peachy on set during the finale days as his former costars haven’t put in much of an effort to reach out to Washington. “Everyone is still on vacation. I don’t expect to hear from my castmates. I did talk to Chandra Wilson and I got a text message from Kate Walsh. Everyone’s doing their own thing.”
So that’s that. It’s a done deal. Now we have to wait and see how Seattle Grace deals with the loss of its top Cardiothoracic surgeon.

Now this is what I call a good night for TV. Normally SYTYCD would be the highlight, but we’ve got the season four premiere of RESCUE ME which happens to be one of my favorite shows. I’ve already seen the first few episodes of the new season and they are fantastic. I think I’m also going to give TOP CHEF a watch.
Being on the West Coast isn’t usually good for my TV watching habits, but tonight it’s going to work in my favor as there are so many shows on at the same time. I’ll catch the East Coast feeds of some on my Slingbox and then watch the West Coast airings later. And before you ask – My name is GMMR and I’m a TV addict.
So You Think You Can Dance
The first round of competition for viewer votes features the Top 20 dancers, 10 men and 10 women, strutting their stuff. I stayed up iuntil about 2AM this morning so I could be fully caught up on SYTYCD. So excited to see the Top 20 perform tonight.
Rescue Me
As the fourth season begins, Janet has given birth to a baby boy—whom she fears prefers Tommy to her. But Tommy has a bigger problem: He’s suspected of starting the beach-house fire. If you haven’t already done so, click here to enter GMMR’s RESCUE ME Urban Survival Sweepstakes.
Hidden Palms
First, he and Greta argue about Johnny, then he discovers that his mom wants her boyfriend to move in.(Programming note: The CW is wrapping “Hidden Palms” early as the summer series will now air its swan song on Wednesday, July 4 – two weeks prior than originally planned. In addition, the netlet has opted to drop the show’s Sunday, 8:00/7:00c encores effective immediately.)
Top Chef
Fifteen chefs head to Miami to begin the third season of this contest. Tonight, the contestants must please Ted Allen of “Queer Eye” and celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain as well as their usual host, Padma Lakshmi.
Last Comic Standing
Season premiere of an Emmy-nominated series which pits standup comics against each other. Bill Bellamy (“Def Comedy Jam”) hosts the double-length opening episode in New York, Montreal, and San Antonio.
Traveler
Jay and Tyler head to Will’s hometown in Maine, looking for information about their missing friend. Meanwhile, the FBI uncover evidence about the bombing.

VERONICA MARS Creator is MISS/GUIDED

Good news for fans of the dearly departed VERONICA MARS. VM creator Rob Thomas has a new gig that will bring him back to the TV world very soon. Rob has confirmed to E! Kristin Veitch that he is taking over as Executive Producer and showrunner for the upcoming ABC show MISS/GUIDED starring the fabulous Judy Greer.
“I’m the new show runner on Miss/Guided, the Judy Greer half-hour midseason for ABC,” Rob tells Veitch. “Judy plays a high school counselor who has returned to the high school she attended as a student. It was created by a talented first-year Office writer named Caroline Williams.”
I think that Judy Greer is priceless and I was planning on watching the show just for her, but knowing that Rob Thomas is brining his signature wit to the show makes it a must see show of the new season.
