THE OFFICE Spin-Off?

Filed under Dwight Schrute, Rainn Wilson, The Office
Say it ain’t so!! Ok, so this is all speculation at this point (we hope) but FoxNews.com is reporting that rumors are flying around that Rainn Wilson may have his own OFFICE spin-off in the future. Check it out:
From FoxNews.com:
Is Dwight Schrute about to have his own TV series? That’s the buzz at NBC, where new head of programming Ben Silverman could be thinking about a spin-off from the hit sitcom “The Office.”….When I ran into Rainn Wilson, the actor who plays Dwight on the show, at Sunday night’s post-Tony party, he actually brought up the idea, then seemed a little surprised he’d said it out loud. (More)
I’m not ready for Dwight to leave the show now. NO WAY! But in a few years, when THE OFFICE is winding down it would be a great to see the show live on with Rainn Wilson. So what do you think of a Dwight Schrute spin-off…now and in the future?
Thanks to Jim Mosby & Angie for the tip.

What to Watch….Tuesday, June 12, 2007

Woo hoo…I’m still on the West Coast but I’m back from mini-vacation and back to GiveMeMyRemote.com. I’ve missed you all over the past few days. If I’m being honest, I’m still a little behind on TV, but I’m going to work hard to catch up. It might be pretty easy since there isn’t much on TV tonight
Kathy Griffin: My Life On The D List
Next to SYTYCD there is no other summer show I love more than My Life on the The D List. Kathy Griffin is absolutely hysterical and I love watching her attempts to finally make it off the D list. It may never happen but she has a plan. Now that she’s back in the dating game, she decides to go for the publicity, and ends up out on the town with Nick Carter. Ewwwwww.
Fast Cars and Superstars
The Gillette Young Guns Celebrity Race puts stars like John Salley and Jewel under the tutelage of some NASCAR hotshots, and also makes a fine appetizer for Game 3 of the NBA Finals on ABC.
Is there anything else on TV tonight? Did I miss something?
Movin’ On Up…

Here’s a fun little game to keep you entertained (and away from work) on this Friday afternoon. Tell me this…
If you could pick up and move to one TV town and live among the people that lived there, where would you choose to move to?
Now before you answer, think about it. You can pick any show past or present. And just because it’s your favorite show, when all things are considered it might not be the coolest place to live. If you’ve got that fighting spirit maybe you want to end up in Sunnydale, CA and if you’re the type to live a boring and bland existence, then maybe Scranton, PA is right for you. Or is it your dreams of dreams to live in 90210, Laguna Beach or the OC? But then again wouldn’t it be fun to move to NYC and live alongside the Cosby kids?
If you’ve seen “Pleasantville” then you know living with and among your favorite fictional characters in their world might not be all it’s cracked up to be.

GMMR’s Mini-Vacation”What To” Guide

I’m officially on a mini-vacay with my girlfriends!! Woo hoo. We kicked things off last night and let’s just say that I’m pleased with myself that I’m functioning enough to turn on the computer this morning, none the less post a blog. But who’s kidding who here…I may be on vacation but it’s not like I can abandon GMMR for 5 whole days. I’ll be around. I can’t promise that I’ll be sober, but I’ll be around.
In the meantime, here’s a little “What To” Guide to keep you busy while I’m frolicking in Napa.
WHAT TO WATCH…
Standoff
Catch one of the final episodes of this show about a pair of hostage negotiators who have a romantic as well as a professional relationship. In tonight’s installment, a U.S. customs agent (Xander Berkeley) loses his cool and takes hostages at the incredibly busy Port of Los Angeles.
What Not To Wear
Stacy London and Clinton Kelly host a wedding special tonight, with three badly-dressed brides who get a fabulous makeover including clothes by Stacy and Clinton, hair by Nick Arrojo, and makeup by Carmindy.
National Bingo Night
If you’re too frail to get all the way down to the VFW hall for your usual Friday-night game, then National Bingo Night is the show for you. Contestants will be angling for big vacations and shopping sprees, while viewers at home can print out bingo card for a chance at $50,000 and a trip to the Country Music Awards.
WHAT TO READ…
I’m two full episodes behind on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. You must know that it’s killing me!! I’ve been avoiding SYTYCD spoilers like Isaiah Washington avoids happy hour at a gay bar. The first thing I’m going to do when I’m back from vacation is catch up on what I’ve missed. But for now, head over to DuckyxDale for all the latest SYTYCD news, pics and video. (DuckyxDale)
Raise your hand if you’ve been watching ABC’s TRAVELER. I’m a half episode behind, but I’m liking it so far. It’s some good summer TV fun. If I know you all have been watching it then I’ll put in an effort to talk about it more. In the meantime, the fab divas at Buzz Sugar have a great recap of the last episode. Check it out. (Buzz Sugar)
Seems that I’m not the only one begging you to watch FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS. Check out this funny bit and fake promo for FNL from The Showbiz Show with David Spade. If I thought cursing at you would get you to watch the show, I’d do it. (The TV Addict)
Isaiah Washington Not Returning to GREY’S ANATOMY
June 8, 2007 by Kath Skerry
A girl goes out in they city for one night and of course some major TV news breaks. A TV blogger never rests. But yes, it’s true. Isaiah Washington will not be returning to GREY’S ANATOMY in the Fall. According to TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello, ABC decided not to renew the actor’s contract and he was informed by showrunner Shonda Rhimes herself yesterday morning. ABC is staying a little hush hush but that doesn’t mean some people aren’t talking.
One insider, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the situation, speculated that the decision was likely due only in part to the T.R. Knight homophobic-slur scandal and the subsequent fallout. “There was a pattern of problematic behavior going back before he used the F-word,” says my spy. “I imagine [his dismissal] was the result of all of that.”
-Michael Ausiello (read more)
I will say that this move from ABC comes as quite a shock. I didn’t think they would actually do it. And if I’m being honest here, I had heard some of the rumors about the “problematic behavior” from Isaiah but I just chalked it up to gross rumor and speculation, but maybe there was something to it after all. You never know.
I know this is going to be a very heated discussion as it always has been on the past here at GMMR. Feel free to share your opinions on the matter in the comments, but I only ask that you keep it respectful and remember there isn’t a right and wrong to this issue.

I miss TV. In my travels over the past week I’ve fell woefully behind in my TV watching. Even with my Slingbox, which is perhaps the world’s greatest invention (next to the DVR of course) I can’t seem to catch up. Do you know how sad I am that I missed So You Think You Can Dance last night?
Thanks for all your patience with GMMR this week. I know it’s been kind of boring and I haven’t been posting as I normally do, but being on the West Coast really throws me off and it’s hard to keep up. In the meantime, I’m going to do what I can to post as often as I can over the next week or so until we get back to our originally scheduled programming on the East Coast.
So You Think You Can Dance
Tonight’s episode is the second of two “Las Vegas callback” shows. It features the top 200 dancers in a week of grueling routines with choreographers Dan Karaty, Wade Robson, Mia Michaels and Shane Sparks. At the end of tonight’s show, 20 contenders will stay on for the real challenge.
Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip
Fans are still coming to terms with the fact that the show won’t get picked up for next season, but the characters haven’t noticed. They’re too busy worrying about Jordan’s surgery and Tom’s family troubles.
The Starter Wife
If you missed the first two episodes of “The Starter Wife,” they’re broadcast early this evening. Later, you can catch the newest one, in which Molly goes on a date with Sam (the guy she kissed in episode one) and helps her friend Joan get out of rehab early.
CBS Brings Back JERICHO

Nicely done fans of JERICHO. You organized. You sent nuts. You brought your show back. Yes, JERICHO was just brought back from the dead by CBS. The recently canceled show will be returning as a mid-season replacement with a promise of 7 new episodes with the prospect of more being added if they can get more viewers to tune in. Entertainment President Nina Tassler is crediting the fans with bringing the show back. Check out the press release I just received from CBS:
June 6, 2007
To the Fans of Jericho:Wow!
Over the past few weeks you have put forth an impressive and probably unprecedented display of passion in support of a prime time television series. You got our attention; your emails and collective voice have been heard.
As a result, CBS has ordered seven episodes of “Jericho” for mid-season next year. In success, there is the potential for more. But, for there to be more “Jericho,” we will need more viewers.
A loyal and passionate community has clearly formed around the show. But that community needs to grow. It needs to grow on the CBS Television Network, as well as on the many digital platforms where we make the show available.
We will count on you to rally around the show, to recruit new viewers with the same grass-roots energy, intensity and volume you have displayed in recent weeks.
At this time, I cannot tell you the specific date or time period that “Jericho” will return to our schedule. However, in the interim, we are working on several initiatives to help introduce the show to new audiences. This includes re-broadcasting “Jericho” on CBS this summer, streaming episodes and clips from these episodes across the CBS Audience Network (online), releasing the first season DVD on September 25 and continuing the story of Jericho in the digital world until the new episodes return. We will let you know specifics when we have them so you can pass them on.
On behalf of everyone at CBS, thank you for expressing your support of “Jericho” in such an extraordinary manner. Your protest was creative, sustained and very thoughtful and respectful in tone. You made a difference.
Sincerely,
Nina Tassler
President, CBS EntertainmentP.S. Please stop sending us nuts 🙂
CBS was definitely impressed. They don’t typically have shows with such a vocal and dedicated fan base so this is all new to them. CBS was impressed by nuts, so I can only imagine what they would have thought of CW-based “save our show” campaigns for Everwood and Veronica Mars which saw fans renting ferris wheels and skywriting above the L.A. skyline. Too bad those campaigns didn’t work out as well.
Congrats again JERICHO fans.
SEX AND THE CITY Movie is Happening?!
June 6, 2007 by Kath Skerry
What?! The often discussed but always marred in controversy movie version of SEX AND THE CITY might actually be happening. According to E! Kristin Vetich, on tonight’s Entertainment Tonight Sarah Jessica Parker announced that the movie is a go! Can this really be happening? Will we really see Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha live to drink another cosmo?
Parker recently told USWeekly that “[The movie] is a very complicated puzzle to put back – not for the reason that people speculate about because as far as I know all of the actresses want to be together again for this movie.” Adding, “somehow in my brain I think the timing is fortuitous because if we had done it years ago we couldn’t have done it now. I’m hopeful and very excited about it.”
More of this story…well, as I hear about it.
T.R. Knight Returns to GREY’S ANATOMY
June 6, 2007 by Kath Skerry
As the season finale of GREY’S ANATOMY came to a close, the fate of Drs. George O’Malley (T.R. Knight) and Preston Burke (Isaiah Washington) were unknown. With George failing his intern test, and Preston leaving Christina and his home it was uncertain if either actor would return to Seattle Grace…or Grey’s Anatomy for that matter. Neither Knight or Washington had contracts in place at the end of this season leaving many people to wonder if there would be an on-screen fall out resulting from the sad off-screen happenings between these two men. But Grey’s fans can rest easy, because it has been confirmed that T.R. Knight will be returning as a series regular to Grey’s Anatomy in the Fall. And not only is he returning but he’s going to be much richer for it.
Knight has been given a hefty raise that will bring his per-episode take home to just around $125,000 and additionally Knight will also receive compensation based on the show’s profits. A similar contract is in place for co-stars Patrick Demspey, Ellen Pompeo and Sandra Oh.
I wasn’t really nervous that T.R. wouldn’t be returning, but I feel better knowing that it’s definitely happening. Now we have to wait to hear about Knight’s co-star Katherine Heigl whose contract negotiations with ABC have not gone so smoothly. Making things more difficult could be Heigl’s new box office hit “Knocked Up”. I have a feeling things will work themselves out. “Katherine loves playing Dr. Izzie Stevens,” her publicist said yesterday. “She is grateful to all the ‘Grey’s’ fans for their support, and she is hoping ABC will recognize her value and worth.”
Let’s be honest, Heigl may have a hit on her hands with her latest movie, but I think she could use a little more time on GREY’S to establish herself as part of the Hollywood elite.
As for Isaiah Washington…no clue on how that one is going to turn out.
So You Think You Can Dance…Rewind
June 6, 2007 by Kath Skerry
Filed under So You Think You Can Dance
Are you ready for a little more SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE? Tonight the real competition begins at 9/8c on Fox. The dancers who advanced from L.A., New York, Chicago and Atlanta meet up in Las Vegas for the first round of callbacks. Hopeful hoofers show off their skills in ballroom, ballet, salsa, jive, hip-hop and krumping. Professional choreographers Dan Karaty, Wade Robson, Mia Michaels and Shane Sparks mentor the dancers.
For all the So You Think You Can Dance newbies out there, I thought I would occasionally share some of the brilliant performances from last season until we have some fresh new routines to share. So first up was perhaps the most visually stunning performance of all of S2. I still hold Wade Robson responsible for breaking up Britney and Justin but there’s not denying this boy can choreograph. Enjoy.

I was so excited to see all the emails and comments from GMMR readers that decided to check out SYTYCD for the first time after my not so subtle urging. See, I wouldn’t steer you in the wrong direction. If you haven’t yet watched it, the good dancers start tonight, so make sure you tune in. And if you missed last week’s Atlanta auditions, check out Bryan Gaynor and the other unforgettable dancers in an encore airing of last week’s episode tonight at 8/7c on Fox.
