BIG BROTHER 8 is Back

TV offers many guilty pleasures, but for me none of them are as fun as BIG BROTHER. The voyeuristic reality show is back at 8/7c on CBS for its 8th season and I couldn’t be more excited.When the 14 houseguests enter the Big Brother house tonight they will be giving up their access to the outside world. No tv, no newspapers, no phone calls, no internet (that reason alone I could never do this show). Their every move will be broadcast live and unedited to those who subscribe to the 24/7 live feed and nightly to subscribers of Showtime who can now watch Big Brother: After Dark every night of the week.
We’ve got a lot of houseguests to meet, and some new changes to talk about so let’s get to it. First up, let’s meet the cast.

An Unwelcome Guest
Viewers can expect surprises every week but tonight we are going to be let in on two of the biggest OMG moments of the season. First up, upon getting settled in one of the houseguests will learn that one of his/her houseguests isn’t as much of a stranger as he/she would have liked. In fact, these two housemates will have an unresolved, tension filled past – ah Big Brother’s specialty. YAY!
America’s Player
In another twist, one houseguest will learn that he/she has been chosen as America’s Player. For the first time ever, viewers at home will have a say as to what happens inside the Big Brother house as they get to control the actions of one of the houseguests. Starting on July 8th, every episode of Big Brother will conclude with a question that the viewers at home get to vote on. The vote will determine the action of America’s Player, and the player must do as they audience says. Whether it be voting a certain way, or forming an alliance with someone – whatever the viewers says goes. Oh and did I mention that America’s Player can’t reveal to his or her housemates what’s going on? Yup. This player will be rewarded financially for playing this special role, but if America’s vote isn’t the right strategic move, this player could see themselves booted from the house early on.
Big Brother: After Dark
For the first time every, Showtime subscribers will be able to see live, unedited feeds from the Big Brother house from 12am-3am everyday on SHOTOO. These three hours will capture the houseguests as they interact live on the West Coast where their local time will be 9pm-midnight (just when the fun really begins). I’m going to sign-up for Showtime today just for this show.

K, I wish Will could do every season he’s just such an amazing houseguest. I’m glad America is finally doing what the UK has been doing from the beginning devoting a channel to Big Bro!
I watched season 3 and a little of the end of last season (only because of the game the guys were playing on the girls) and I am really excited for this season. I think it’s cool to have a houseguest to control.
my guilty pleasure too! Seriously, why can’t Will be on every season? I love reading the feed recaps because it’s very interesting to see who these people really are, and not what CBS edits together. People upload goodies to youtube as well. There’s some quality youtube from last season, wonder if it’s still up?

I’m a closeted Big Brother fan and I’m really excited for tonights epi. At the beginning of every season I always think… “This season is going to suck and not be as good as last”. But then by the end of the season I’ve never remembered what the previous season was!!! PLus there is a 37 year old woman from Oregon..it’s not me…but it could be. She’ll be my vote!
I’m saddened to say that I even spend the $$ to get the live feeds… with hardly anything to watch on tv this summer (except SYTYCD and rescue me) i need something to occupy my time. Anyone have any early favorites? I think I like Eric- or at least his music taste. Maybe Carol?
