HEROES Star Hayden Panettiere Sings
July 5, 2007 by Kath Skerry
Think HEROES star Hayden Panettiere’s only talent is healing her body after injury or death? Nope. The girl can sing. She’s actually releasing her first album later in the year. Last night Hayden performed during Washington, DC’s 4th of July spectacular and she actually sounded pretty good. She sang live (ok she had a little help with backing vocals) which earns her major points since so many of her counterparts get by with full on lazy lip synching. I think Hayden may have been a wee bit nervous, not that I blame her. Watch closely and you can tell she’s relying on her acting talents to mask her nerves. Not a bad first big outing.
Check out Hayden singing “Try” from the movie “Bridge to Tereabithia”

She reminds me a lot of Jennifer Love Hewitt…in other words? The hero should stick to acting.
If you want to hear her really singing (without backing vocals) listen to her singing the national anthem here:

Granted, the national anthem is a tough one, she was still barely mediocre. I’ve heard better at high school basketball games. I’m echoing the ‘stick to acting’ sentiment. 🙂

I think she lost it during the bridge “And that’s when you’ll see” at 1:16. Other than that she has a pretty voice. But if she was just a regular person trying out for American Idol, I don’t think she would get very far into the competition; she has no stage presence. If not for her celebrity as an actor, I don’t think she could have a singing career. I heard a radio interview with her a while back. She said she’s putting an album out.
