GMMR Emmy Poll #1: Best Comedy
July 19, 2007 by Kath Skerry
Emmy day is always a good time. You can be elated when your favorites get nominated and at the same time pretty pissed off over the very obvious snubs. I thought it might be fun to take a little informal poll to see who GMMR thinks SHOULD take the Emmy and then check out who they think WILL take it home.
From time to time I’m going to be posting new polls in each category, and come Emmy time we’ll see just how good we are.
So first up is BEST COMEDY. Tell us who you think SHOULD win in this category (and be honest).
Ok, now tell us who you think WILL win on Emmy night. Again, honesty is key – just because it’s your favorite doesn’t mean that you think it will win the big award.

I really really really want The Office to win, but there has been so much Betty love this year that I have a feeling it will take the category.
30 Rock did a fantastic freshman season. The Paul Reubens episode had me on the floor! It won’t win, but at least Alec got a nod. If he wins, maybe he can give it to his daugher. 🙂
30 Rock FTW! I hope. Sorry The Office. Sorry Mosby.
I have to agree with Derby. As much as I would love to see The Office win another one, Betty has been scooping up all the awards this season, that I would be surprised if it didn’t win this one as well. Although, I think it also has an unfair advantage being the only hour-long comedy nominated. At least Depressed, oops I mean, Despret Housewives didn’t make it, it’s not even of the same caliber as the other shows, with the exception of maybe 2 1/2 men (how exactly did they get nominated?)
I love me some Office, but the episode they submitted to the judges was The Coup, which is very disappointing. I will also be quite happy if 30 Rock wins, because that is a great comedy as well.
I’ve never seen either Entourage (I don’t get HBO, but I intend to check out the DVDs eventually) or Ugly Betty (which I really have no interest in, and don’t like these one-hour dramedies to win out over the “pure” comedies). I also hate Two and A Half Men, and hope it doesn’t win a thing, even though it got multiple nominations.
