FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS on DVD Today
August 28, 2007 by Kath Skerry
If you missed FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS this past season then you have one thing and one thing only to do today – go out and buy it on DVD. Don’t you want to see what all the buzz is about? Aren’t you wondering why so many fans and critics named this the best new drama of this past year? Don’t you want me to stop yelling at you to watch the show?
Just think, if you get the DVDs you’ll be all caught before the Season 2 premiere on Friday, October 5th at 9/8c. We’re going to be talking a lot of FNL on GMMR this year and you don’t want to feel left out, do you….well, do you? (Ah, the joys of peer pressure).
I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised to know that you don’t have to break the bank for these DVDs. Many stores have the entire Season One for around $20…you can’t beat that. I guarantee that you’ll love the show and if you don’t, well you can get your money back (not from me – let’s not be crazy). The people behind Friday Night Lights are so certain you will love the show that they will give refund the purchase price of you DVDs if you don’t. See it’s a win-win (win). Visit www.FNLguarantee.com for more details.
I’ve been re-living Season One everyday since I got my DVDs last week and it’s even better the second time around. In addition to all 22 episodes there are a few choice bonus features for fans to enjoy:
Bonus Features:
- Behind the Lights – A special looks at the creation of the first season of Friday Night Lights
- Episode commentary with the cast
- Deleted scenes from some of the best episodes of the season
Have you been swayed by my constant badgering? Will you be buying Season One of FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS on DVD? If so leave a comment. Also, let me know if you are already a fan reliving S1 or if you are a newbie looking to catch up before the new season.

Mine should be on its way today. I loved S1 and I’m hoping to have a viewing party to get my friends watching!
I bought the season for my sister. I told her that she needs to watch it with her husband because I’m sure he’d like it too. The more I think about it, the more I want my own copy, so I’ll probably pick it up too. I just loved FNL and I can’t wait til October. 🙂
I didn’t like the movie, so when the show came out, I never watched it. I am thinking about buying the DVD, but haven’t decided yet.
Definitely am ordering the DVD – I ordered mine way back in June and will hopefully get it in the mail this week. I’m a huge FNL fan already and I already have all the episodes recorded on DVD but I definitely want the “official” one with the extras. Is there just one cast episode commentary or is there more than one? I really hope a lot of people become “converted” to this wonderful show and start watching the second season.
I’m definetly going out today to find it. Hopefully I can convert my sis and best friend.
I relived it a few months back w/ the magic of my iPod and iTunes, but I’ll be heading out in a couple of hours to buy it at Best Buy.
Anyone who is on the fence shouldn’t be. Hands-down my favorite drama last tv season. And seriously, $20 for a full season? That is a freakin’ steal, considering Heroes is also out today for $37 and NBC will give you your money back if you don’t like it…so, what are you guys waiting for?
But seriously, NBC must REALLY believe in it if they are offering a money-back guarantee. I don’t think I’ve ever heard that guarantee about any DVD.
BUY IT NOW!!!
So I convinced my hubby to watch this with me. I didn’t get the Sunday paper, so where can I get it for $20?
CrazyGringa, it’s pretty much $19.99 at any major retailer…I just got mine at Best Buy. But I’m sure Target, Walmart and Amazon have it at the same price.
Target and Amazon both have it for $19.99. I bought it off of Amazon for my sister, and I’m going to go grab it from Target when I get out of work.
Thanks guys. I’ll pick it up at Target on my way home then. $20 isn’t too much and if I don’t like it then it was only $20…but from what I’m hearing from you all, that won’t be the case.
CrazyGringa, you won’t regret it. Keep in mind that it gets better and better each episode. I think it really starts to pick up around about the half way mark and you’ll be hooked by the finale (if not sooner). Also, if you don’t like it just return it to NBC for a full refund. =)
Just to let you guys know, your peer pressure really worked because none of my friends watch this and I am buying this because you all talk so highly of it. I will work on converting my friends after I watch it too :o)
I’ve only seen the pilot episode of this series (on nbc.com) but I thought it was really good. I think I’ll pick up a copy when I buy The Office DVD next week. $20 is a really good deal
CrazyGringa, yea for converts!! I picked up the DVD at Target today, and was ridiculously pleased w/ myself when I got a couple of ladies in my checkout line interested as well. I’m the only one in my group of friends and family who watches, which is very frustrating(no one understands me, dangit! I have the same problem with the Office, why must everyone I know have such different taste? Oh well)
I did not watch this show at all, and then from reading about it on this site and another site that praises it constantly, I decided to watch the first couple of episodes online a few weeks back. I loved them, and I’ve never seen an entire football game in my life – can’t stand it really. The show is so beyond football. Don’t get me wrong though – for a non-football fan, my heart absolutely races during the game scenes. The acting, writing and realism is so great – a show this good is a rarity – I promise! For $20 bucks US, $30 Canadian, you’d spend that much renting it anyhow. I picked mine up on the way home today and plan on digging in very soon!!
Already got it and was there from the begining. Most will go back and relieve the greatest Landry moments but bought it mostly to dispense it to family and friends.
There’s no cast commentary, unfortunately!
I am NUTS about FNL, thanks to you, GMMR. I checked it out online sometime in June because of all I’ve read about it on this site, and after watching the pilot, I couldn’t stop myself. I watched the entire first season on that itty bitty online screen in about 5 days, and I just ordered the DVDs. I look forward to re-watching on a normal screen now 🙂

I have already watched each episode at least a half-dozen times, but I’m heading out today to buy the set. If I can part with it, I might even lend it out to family who haven’t seen it yet.
[…] Last week I encouraged you all to go out and buy Season 1 of FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS. Well the good people behind the show went ahead and sent me two copies just for GMMR readers. […]
