E! Needs a New Red Carpet Host
August 23, 2007 by Kath Skerry

With the announcement that Ryan Seacrest will be hosting this year’s Emmy Awards, it seems that E! will be looking for a replacement to handle Ryan’s red carpet duties. As a long time viewer of E! Emmy coverage, I always wondered why their resident TV expert, Kristin Veitch (now Kristin Dos Santos) didn’t have a bigger role on TV’s most important night. Kristin often participates in the Emmy pre-show but is rarely heard from once the major red carpet telecast starts.
There’s no one at E! who knows more about TV so it only makes sense that Kristin be the one to interview the stars that she spends all year covering. I know if I’m going to be spend all day watching the Emmy coverage (which I do) then I want it to be interesting and insightful.
If you agree that Kristin should have a larger role on E! Emmy Day, then sign the attached petition and leave a comment as to why E! should consider Kristin as Ryan’s replacement.
If you disagree with the petition, I respect that too – no need to sign or respond.

Why am I doing this? Kristin was the first person that made it ok for me not to just watch TV but to care about it. I always thought Kristin had the dream job, and she’s a big reason that GMMR exists.I have nothing to gain from this…it’s all about showing the love, and this is an oh so tiny way to do it.

BIG BROTHER fans know that Daniele walked away with this week’s golden power of veto. But the veto wasn’t the only prize. The veto winner and the houseguest that came in second in the competition got to leave confines of the BB house and go on a special trip as a luxury reward. Although their other houseguests are still in the dark, we the viewers know that Dani and Amber went to NY to appear as contestants on the new CBS game show POWER OF 10 and compete for a chance to play for $10 million – a prize amount that makes the $500k Big Brother house look like pocket change.
If you want to see Amber and Daniele play for the big bucks, then tune in to CBS this Tuesday, August 28th at 9/8c and see them play POWER OF 10.

One of the highlights of Comic-Con was the Kevin Smith Q&A session. Funnier than any stand-up comic out there, Smith had one of the biggest crowds of the entire weekend. As a special treat during Kevin’s panel the audience was shown the pilot episode of the new CW comedy REAPER. The pilot of which happened to be directed by Silent Bob himself.Comic-Con was the first time I had seen REAPER as The CW was the only network not to send GiveMeMyRemote.com their Fall pilots (have I mentioned that before). I thought it was pretty funny stuff and I look forward to checking it out when it premieres on Tuesday nights at 9/8c beginning on September 25th.
If you are excited about REAPER or a Kevin Smith (or better yet, both) then enter now for your chance to win a REAPER posted signed by director Kevin Smith. It’s pretty easy to enter. Just watch the REAPER promo below and tell me what device Sam uses to catch the escaped souls form Hell. Email me your answer and leave a comment and let me know what you think about the REAPER promo. UPDATE: A winner will be posted at random from all correct entries (please make sure you have a valid email address)
What to Watch…Thursday, August 23, 2007

With all do respect to the shows listed below, I am so ready for my Thursday ‘What to Watch’ list to include my old favorites (The Office, Ugly Betty, Grey’s Anatomy, The O.C….oh wait, RIP). But until September rolls around let’s enjoy what TV is offering us tonight. By the way, I’m including MAD MEN on this list because I hear it’s fantastic! I know, I know I should be watching – but who has the time? I have a life people…I don’t sit around all night watching TV! (Did you buy that? Did I sound convincing?)
Burn Notice
A house sitter for a millionaire is living the high life until his fiancée is kidnapped and held for a hefty ransom. Meanwhile, a bureaucrat offers Michael information on how to clear the burn notice, but he’s suspicious of the man’s motives.
Big Brother
Things are crazier than they have ever been in the Big Brother house. Tonight we will say goodbye to Jameka or Jen. But more importantly, just how much of this week’s chaos will Big Brother actually show during tonight’s broadcast?
Mad Men
Word spreads around the office about a surprise romantic affair; Peggy offers some superb suggestions during a pitch meeting, and her ideas are so well received that her future at the agency looks dramatically more promising.
Live From Abbey Road: Josh Groban
Three bands talk music, then perform a special set in the Abbey Road studios. Tonight’s guests are Josh Groban, Kasabian, and The Good, the Bad & the Queen.
Who Wants To Be A Superhero?
Best. Reality contest. Ever. (so says my friend Murph). Aspiring (and slightly deranged) heroes are exposed to their greatest fears and public humiliation as compete to star in a new comic book by comics legend Stan Lee.
All this and more, tonight….on your televisions! What’s on your playlist for tonight?

If you’ve been following along on GMMR then you probably already know that I spent last weekend in New Orleans attending the premiere party for Fox’s new Fall drama K-VILLE. Over the next weeks I’ll be filling you in on the details of my trip to NOLA and sharing all the scoop I snagged from the cast and creators of the show.
But before we get to all of that, I thought you might want to check out K-VILLE for yourself. The show doesn’t premiere on Fox until Monday, September 17th at 9/8c but GMMR readers can watch the entire first episode of K-VILLE right here, right now. Just press play on the video below to watch.
From writer and executive producer Jonathan Lisco (“NYPD Blue”,”The District”) comes K-VILLE, a heroic police drama set – and filmed – in New Orleans. Two years after Katrina, parts of the city are still in chaos, but hope has emerged. Battling an upsurge of violence, understaffing of police forces and a lack of crime labs and other facilities, the cops who remain in the New Orleans Police Department have courage to burn and a passion to reclaim and rebuild their city.

Sniff, sniff. My first Wednesday without SYTYCD and I already miss it. I’m going to get through it, I have faith. There’s not a ton of must see TV on for me tonight. And I guess this is as good a time as any to remind you that these “what to watch” picks aren’t always shows that I’m going to be watching myself. I wanted to put that out there in case you thought I was actually going to be watching ANCHORWOMAN tonight. I won’t be.
What I will be watching is Senator Barack Obama on THE DAILY SHOW tonight. I can’t wait.
Top Chef
The chefs must shuck, chop and whip in a culinary-based relay race. Chef Geoffrey Zakarian is the guest judge.
Last Comic Standing
The final five stand-up comics showcase their routines. Alonzo Bodden, ANT and Kathleen Madigan serve as talent scouts.
Rescue Me
The Gavins attend their first AA meeting; Tommy turns to Colleen for information about Janet; Richie tells Franco the truth about Natalie; and Lou mulls revenge on his cousin.
Anchorwoman
Debut: A swimsuit model becomes a local-news anchor at a Texas station in this reality-comedy hybrid filmed at the CBS affiliate in Tyler.

Thank You Dunder Mifflin…Randomness
August 21, 2007 by Kath Skerry
The second half of my day has been a real bummer. Nothing tragic, but I just had to deal with some sucky stuff that has really brought me down. Normally I would turn to booze, but I didn’t have any around the house (I’m kidding…kind of). So I brought the pity party to my couch and turned on my TV. While flipping through the latest issue of TV Guide, I just hit play on my DVR and figured whatever random show that was selected would provide comforting background noise while I was being Grumpy McGrumpstein.
But you know what? The random show playing on my DVR just happened to be “The Injury” episode of THE OFFICE. Within minutes my bad mood was lifted by a dim-witted man and his love for bacon in the morning. Could I really feel bad for myself when Dwight was dealing with a concussion? Should I be wallowing when Jim had to deal with Pam’s impending wedding to Roy? And what about Ryan driving all the way to Carbondale for yams? Before I knew it I had let go of my woes and let myself laugh at and along with the folks of the Scranton Branch of Dunder Mifflin.
Ah, the power of good television.
So thanks Greg Daniels and your band of merry men and women for turning my day around. Someone once said to me that “at any moment if you think what you are doing is in vain, or you aren’t sure that you should be working so hard at it, keep working, keep going – please know that we all love it so much.” Those words meant a lot to me so I thought I would share them with you… just thought you should know that we do love it…so thanks!!
Ok, I’ll be snapping out of my post-angst, overdramatic, sappy mood soon enough. Someone quick, get me an episode of “According to Jim” to make fun of!!
Ryan Seacrest to Host My Birthday Party
August 21, 2007 by Kath Skerry
…ok maybe that’s not really true, but Seacrest seems to be popping up as host of everything these days, so why not my next birthday bash. It was just announced that Ryan Seacrest will be hosting this year’s Emmy awards. An announcement that comes just about a week after it was announced that Seacrest would be hosting the Superbowl – because that makes perfect sense – Ryan Seacrest & football. Hmm.
I’ll tell you this much, if Ryan Seacrest mysteriously washes up on the shore of some beach in Malibu the first person they should look to is Carson Daly. Something tells me that Carson might be a tad bit bitter that Seacrest stole his career. Remember when Carson was the next Dick Clark? Yeah. But if I’m being honest, as ubiquitous as Seacrest is…I’d take him over Carson Daly any day!
I’m actually glad that Seacrest is hosting the Emmys. E! is going to need someone to replace Ryan on the red carpet, and this just might be the break that Kristin Veitch needs to make her mark. Love her or not, Kristin knows TV and as a frequent watcher of E!’s Emmy coverage, it always infuriates me when Seacrest and Guiliana DiPandi are interviewing TV stars and asking them mundane questions that they’ve been asked a hundred times before while Veitch is relegated to the pre-show. Come on, make it interesting for the TV fans at home…give Kristin something more to do.
…Seacrest out (don’t get any ideas Carson)
