BIG BROTHER Recap and Spoilers: Game On

BIG BROTHER rocks my world!! Did you see last night’s show? Holy toledo…now that was some good reality TV. Let’s get to the recap because there is a lot to discuss. I want to warn you that there are a few spoilers from this past week’s live feeds, but no spoilers for events that happened after last night’s live show.
Previously on BIG BROTHER…
Dick and Daniele were on the block for eviction. Dick won the POV and opted to save his daughter rather than himself. Jessica was left to pick a replacement nominee. Dustin had previously offered to go on the block and be the pawn, and Jessica took him up on the offer. Little did he know that Jess wasn’t 100% sure she wanted Dick to leave the house.
House Happenings…
So I’m just going to skip to the good stuff. America’s player, Eric, was told that he had to vote out Dustin this week. Eric was pretty pissed but he knew what he needed to do and wasted no time. Eric immediately went up to the HOH room and started planting doubt in Jessica’s mind about Dustin. Eric, under the guise of playing devil’s advocate, listed all the benefits to Dick staying and Dustin leaving. Jessica is easily swayed but this didn’t take too much convincing because she had been quietly hoping that Dick stayed in the house all along.
Dick and Eric have a few quiet conversations about strategy. Dick proposed a deal with Eric – Eric and Jessica vote to keep Dick in the house this week and in exchange Dick promised that he and Dani would keep Eric and Jessica off the block. The four of them would work together to go after Amber, Jameka, Zach and Jen (not necessarily in that order).
Eric questioned Dick’s deal and asked how he could trust that Dick wouldn’t turn around and give Eric a big old FU and put him immediately on the block. Dick gave his word that that wouldn’t happen. Eric professed his loyalty to Jessica and said that whatever deal he made she was part of it and she was and will be her first priority. Dick agreed and the two guys went off to discuss the proposed deal with their partners.

High School Musical 2
The return of the phenom known a High School Musical. I can’t say that I’ve seen the first one, but I’m completely intrigued. I find it odd yet interesting that a made for TV movie that has my 5 year old niece so excited also has my friends in their 30’s giddy. The power of Zac Effron.
Psych
Shawn and Gus take on the case of a chef accused of murdering a food critic with poisonous mushrooms.
Monk
The episode is titled “Mr. Monk And The Buried Treasure.” It’s about what happens when Monk seeks some buried treasure.
Flash Gordon
In tonight’s episode of new, still-campy Flash Gordon adaptation, Ming tries to rescue his bounty hunter from Earth.
Sabra Johnson Wins SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE

Here we are. The season finale of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. What a talent-filled journey it has been. Thanks to all of you who have come to GMMR each week of the show to read my thoughts, but more importantly to share yours. It’s been so great to experience this show with you this year. I can’t wait until next season.
Before we get into tonight’s finale recap, I have to first apologize for not writing a full recap of last night’s final performance episode. I had a fantastic time watching the show with Ducky, Jess, Murph, Whit , Heather and Adam. We laughed, we watched with awe and amazement and I think we even had a few Mary Murphy screams. To sum up the two hour episode in one word, I would have to say that I was “content”. Not overwhelmed, not underwhelmed but content. The two standout moments for me were Danny & Lacey’s stunning waltz and Danny’s unbelievable final solo. Although I’ve been Team Sabra for some time now, after last night’s performance I am woman enough to admit that Danny Tidwell won me over. He is such an amazing dancer and he has grown so much through this competition. I was floored watching him perform last night. By the end of the night, I was so exhausted the last thing I could do was go home and blog about it. And today, well my day got the best of me and it slipped away until it was time for the finale. I got home at midnight tonight and sat down to watch. It’s about 1:45am as I begin tonight’s recap but I’m determined to finish this so we can discuss SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE for the last time…well until next year.
So let’s do it…
Cat Deely, looking stunning as usual, welcomes us for the last time before introducing the Top 20 dancers. It was so great to see so many familiar faces back on the stage. The judges table is packed tonight as Nigel and Mary are joined by Dan Karatay, Wade Robson, Shane Sparks and Mia Michaels – the best of the best (if of course you swap out Dan Karatay for either Debbie Allen or Adam Shankman).
Mr. Broadway, Tyce D’Orio, has choreographed an amazing routine set to music from Broadway’s Lion King performed by the Top 20 dancers. It was nice to see them all perform one final time all together, and that routine is sick.
In what proved to be an amazing night of television, some of the most popular choreographers and judges from this season shared their favorite moments and picked a favorite routine to be performed tonight. In between the performances we had a few special guests…but more on that later.
First up was Mary Murphy and she chose to see “Transformer” routine, choreographed by Shane Sparks and performed by Pasha Kovalev and Lauren Gottleib . This dance had one of my favorite intros of the entire season, and it was such a surprise to see Pasha, a Russian-born Latin Ballroom dancer pull off a hip-hop routine of this caliber.
Our very first guest of the night is introduced and his name is Brandon Norris. Does the name not ring a bell? What if I told you that Brandon was the amazing clogger we saw during the auditions? Now you remember, right? Brandon came out and did his thing which continue to blow me away.
And let me just say that THIS is why the SYTYCD finale blows away the AMERICAN IDOL finale. Rather than bring back past contestants to embarrass and humiliate them once again like IDOL does, SYTYCD chose to showcase unique talents that just weren’t’ right for the competition. Bravo!
It’s Nigel’s choice to choose a dance and he goes with the “Hummingbird” routine by Wade Robson and performed by Hok Konishi and Jaimie Goodwin. This dance is definitely near the top of my top 5 routines of the whole season. Hok and Jaimie became the hummingbird and the flower and it was once again beautiful to watch.

THE HILLS Star Heidi Montag Releases Single
August 16, 2007 by Kath Skerry
Stars of THE HILLS, Heidi Montag and her asshat boyfriend fiance Spencer Pratt, appeared yet again on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show this morning, but this time it was to premiere Heidi’s new song “Body Language”. The song isn’t any new or different – it actually sounds like a rip off of about 5 other songs, but it’s not terrible either…except for the part where The Pratt raps. Seriously?Take a listen and tell me what you think? “Body Language” by Heidi Montag
Update: Heidi’s people (also know as Spencer) released a statement to People saying that Heidi was upset about the song being released today. She has allegedly been crying all day she’s so distraught.
“We did it as a joke,” Pratt tells PEOPLE. “It’s not her single at all. It was never meant to be heard by anyone but us. Over my dead body would I rap on Heidi’s first single. Heidi is so upset because this was not the first sound she wanted people to hear from her.
Ok so let me sake sure I have this straight. Heidi and Spencer went into the radio station, talked on air with Seacrest, listened as Seacrest announced that they were world premiering her single and then got upset about it? Oh and there’s more. The Pratt claimed that the single was “a joke”. So again…Heidi and The Pratt went into a recording studio, laid down the tracks and the vocals, wrote a rap part for Spencer, recorded it, mixed the song together but it was all some big joke?
The real joke here is Heidi’s attempt in the music boz (that and her engagement to Spencer). Real musical artists don’t just stumble into a long term music career. This is just another way to keep Heidi and The Pratt in the spotlight. Don’t forget, just a few years ago Ms. Heidi was an asppiring fashion designer (all of which lasted two days)

We are getting closer and closer to the season premiere of THE OFFICE. September 27th seems so far away, but it will be here before you know it. I’ve been marking down the days on my calendar (my Dunder Mifflin calendar).
As you know I’ve taken a break from THE OFFICE Thursday on GMMR this summer, but I thought I’d throw together a post today…just because. So let’s get to it.
Tonight on THE OFFICE…
The Negotiation (9/8c on NBC)
When Darryl (Craig Robinson) corners Michael about a pay increase, the meeting compels Michael to scrutinize his own salary. Meanwhile, Pam’s confession to Roy (David Denman) impacts Jim.
Happy Bird-day…
Birthday wishes go out to Steve Carell who is celebrating his birthday today and Phyllis Smith who had her big day yesterday. We hope you both had a wonderful day and wish you nothing but the best in the years to come. More importantly, I hope you both got great presents! Belated birthday wishes go out to B.J. Novak who celebrated his b-day on July 31st (although some of us celebrated his birthday on July 27th…ha ha ha)
A Dunder Mifflin Baby…
Congratulations to OFFICE writer/producer Michael Schur (aka Mose) and his wife J.J. Philbin who just announced that they are expecting their first child in February. The announcement was made this morning by Schur’s in-laws, Regis & Joy Philbin during Live with Regis and Kelly. I hear that the Schur’s produce very thirsty babies.

Jenna Fischer in WALK HARD

Check out the new trailer for Jenna Fischer‘s new biopic parody WALK HARD, written by Judd Apatow and Jake Kasdan. The stellar cast includes John C. Reilly, Kristen Wiig, Paul Rudd, Jack White and many more. And for you OFFICE fans, expect a few familiar faces to appear – Ed Helms and Craig Robinson also have roles in the film.
America loves Cox! But behind the music is the up-and-down-and-up-again story of Dewey Cox (John C. Reilly), a musician whose songs would change a nation. On his rock ‘n roll spiral, Cox sleeps with 411 women, marries three times, has 22 kids and 14 stepkids, stars in his own 70s TV show, collects friends ranging from Elvis to the Beatles to a chimp, and gets addicted to – and then kicks – every drug known to man… but despite it all, Cox grows into a national icon and eventually earns the love of a good woman – longtime backup singer Darlene (Jenna Fischer).
Jenna looks absolutely stunning in this movie, and I can’t wait to see it when it hits theaters on December 21, 2007.

THE BACHELOR’s Andy & Tessa Call Off Engagment

Looks like love is bustin’ up all over the place. In what should come as a shock to no one, THE BACHELOR star Andy Baldwin and reality show fiancee Tessa Horst have called off their engagement. The couple claims they are still together but I don’t buy it. Why go through the effort of announcing that the wedding is off? Something is just not right there.
“We are very much in love and committed to our relationship,” the couple say in a statement. “With the possibility of reassignment to a new location, we decided it was not the ideal time for Tessa to uproot herself and move out [to Hawaii] right now. Our relationship continues to deepen, and we’re very hopeful about our future together.”
Call me skeptical…
HOUSE Stars Jesse Spencer & Jennifer Morrison Call Off Engagement
August 15, 2007 by Kath Skerry
Attention engaged ladies of Hollywood: you know how it’s bad luck to let the groom see you before the wedding? Well it’s also bad luck to appear on the cover of a bridal magazine before you get married. The latest victim of the Wedding Mag Curse is HOUSE star Jennifer Morrison who appears on the cover of this month’s InStyle Weddings. Earlier today it was announced that Morrison and her HOUSE co-star, Jesse Spencer, have decided to call off their wedding, and seemingly end their romantic relationship.
“After much consideration, we have decided not to get married,” the couple said in a joint statement. “We are still very close, and we look forward to continuing to work together on House.”
Yeah, I’m sure that’s going to be a comfortable set to work on this year, especially given their on-screen characters intertwined love life.
SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE Finale Recap: Top 4 Final Performance
August 15, 2007 by Kath Skerry
Filed under Neil Haskell, So You Think You Can Dance
Click here to find out who won Season 3 of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE.
I’m emotionally and physically exhausted after watching tonight’s final performance round on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. I can’t even begin to imagine how the final four dancers are feeling right now. Tonight was the last opportunity for Sabra, Danny, Lacey and Neil to show us what they’ve got before we the audience cast our votes for America’s Favorite Dancer. All four dancers were impressive as usual but there were certainly a few stand out moments for me.
So just what were those “special” moments? Well, you are going to have to wait until tomorrow morning to find out because I am so tired that I can hardly put together a sentence none the less recap an amazing night of dance. Believe me, I hate to put it off until tomorrow but I just can’t do the show justice tonight.
But just because I’m tired and need to go to bed doesn’t mean that you can’t talk about tonight’s show. What were your favorite performances? Do you think we have a clear winner at this point in time? I’m so excited to hear your opinions!
Jeremy Sisto to Guest on MY BOYS
August 15, 2007 by Kath Skerry
If you watched this week’s episode of MY BOYS and stayed around for the previews of next week’s show then you probably already know Jeremy Sisto will be a special guest star. Sisto will play Thorn (no I’m not kidding…that’s his name) an old friend of P.J.’s who resurfaces. Will there be sparks?
With all do respect to Jeremy Sisto’s career I will always think of him first as Elton from CLUELESS and then for his three minutes of work as Christopher, Joey Potter’s boyfriend on the series finale of DAWSON’S CREEK. The latter I’m sure Sisto wishes no one would remember.
Looking forward to seeing you in Chicago, Thorn. You best me good to P.J….she hasn’t had much luck in the man department lately.
ELLEN’S REALLY BIG SHOW Coming to TBS
August 15, 2007 by Kath Skerry
THE ELLEN DEGENERES SHOW has been on summer break and I am going through withdrawal. I like dancing along with Ellen in the morning, and her show is always a good way to start the day. And now it seems that we’re getting an extra dose of Ellen…on TBS. Emmy-winning talk show host and comedian Ellen DeGeneres is bringing her winning personality to TBS this November, when she presents ELLEN’S REALLY BIG SHOW, according to an announcement made today by Michael Wright, senior vice president in charge of the Content Creation Group for TBS, TNT and TCM. The two-hour variety special will feature performances by top talents from the worlds of comedy and music. It will be shot at HBO and AEG Live’s The Comedy Festival (TCF) at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, for which TBS serves as title sponsor. It will then premiere on TBS Sunday, Nov. 18.
“We are truly thrilled to be working with the enormously talented Ellen DeGeneres on her first TBS special,” said Wright. “It’s especially exciting to see her bring back the variety special format, which for decades provided television with some of its most memorable performances.”
DeGeneres added, “I’m very happy to be working with TBS. I usually put two TBS of sugar in my coffee every day, so this is a dream come true for me.”
The way I see it…the more Ellen the better, so I’ll be watching.
Gunn and Weisman Heading Down OCTOBER ROAD
August 15, 2007 by Kath Skerry
I tried to watch OCTOBER ROAD last season. I swear I did. But to say it wasn’t my cup of tea is putting it lightly. I actually gave it a good shot because I wanted to love it, but no matter how hard I tried I couldn’t get over the holes in the plot line and the less than stellar writing. But despite all its shortcomings they have recently made some casting choices that have a hint of genius to them.
According to TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello, Sean Gunn and Kevin Weisman have both signed on for multiple episode arcs in the upcoming season of OCTOBER ROAD.
Sean Gunn, whom I’ve adored for years as Kirk on GILMORE GIRLS, will be showing up as a fry cook at the bar where Janet works. He’s also secretly in love with her. Now if I knew who Janet was..hmmm. I think I’m going to have to keep my eye out for his arc because there’s no way I can’t watch Kirk.
And if Sean Gunn returning to TV isn’t enough then how about the return of Kevin Weisman. Yes, the former ALIAS star has also signed on for a few eps as a colleague of Nick’s whose nose is out of joint because he’s no longer the BPOC (big professor on campus).
New TV show pitch…
Sean Gunn and Kevin Weisman star as Dirk and Darshall, best friends and roommates who want nothing more than to be rich and famous. Dirk thinks his golden ticket is tied to one of his many (failed) inventions. Meanwhile, little did he know that his best friend Darshall is the world’s leading creator and proprietor of seemingly eccentric but incredibly useful gadgets for an undercover branch of the CIA. Not wanting to put his friend Dirk in danger, Darshall tells his friend that he works at a bank.
Together the duo navigate life, love and international terrorists in this buddy comedy from NBC (or ABC, FOX, CBS)
…and if that show doesn’t work out Josh Schwartz could hire either of them for a role on CHUCK and I’d be happy.
