Quick Housekeeping Note…

August 9, 2007 by

Just a quick note to say that I know that GMMR has been a bit slow lately, and more importantly some of you have been having some issues leaving comments.  So sorry about this.  I’m aware of the issue and figuring out how to solve it.  In the meantime, continue to leave comments (please…they are my favorite part of writing this blog).  If you get, what we of the old E! Watch with Kristin boards would call, the WSOD (white screen of death) fear not – more than likely your comment went through and will appear on the site. If you continue to have problems, please feel free to email me at info(at)givememyremote(dot)com.

Thanks again for your patience and I’ll do what I can to alleviate this issue as soon as possible!

Holy Big Brother: Recap with Spoilers

The following recap of tonight’s BIG BROTHER episode makes reference to information that came from the live BB8 feeds. All the info from the feeds came before tonight’s show and are NOT spoilers for future episodes.

This was by far my favorite episode of BIG BROTHER this season. Getting the updates from our GMMR live feed expert kilwiggle I was 100% positive Eric was going home this week. I don’t know what happened to turn Dustin and Jameka’s vote around but if someone has some insight I would love to know.

Previously on Big Brother…
Ok to back up, let’s go for a very brief recap. Earlier in the week Eric was put on the block. Jameka, Amber, Jessica and Dustin said he had nothing to worry about – he was staying. As of 48 hours ago everything had changed. Eric (being a complete douche) told Dick he was the keeper of a horrible secret about Amber that he was just waiting to reveal (more on the secret later). Dick told Amber that although he didn’t know what her big secret was, he thought it was shady that Eric told him about it in the first place. This issue led to Amber convincing a very reluctant Dustin to vote out Eric. From the reports I received, both Jameka and Dustin (and possibly even Jess) had decided to get rid of Eric this week. Amber had to vote to keep Eric in the game because she swore on her daughter’s life that she would. This even after Amber completely went house on Eric for threatening to reveal her secret. Eric got his ass handed to him in a big way. So yeah, Eric was out…or so we thought.

I Vote to Evict…
Tonight during the live vote, Dustin, Jameka, Amber and Jessica voted to evict Kail. Huh? What? I thought this was a done deal. What happened? Based on what she saw in the feeds, kilwiggle suspects that something was said in the Diary Room that affected the game. Did Big Brother get involved in an effort to save Eric or was something as at hand?

So Eric stays and Kail goes. Dick and Daniele are pissed and the others are feeling like they pulled off a big coup. And now it’s time for HOH.

“Chocolate Rain” on Jimmy Kimmel

Tay Zonday, the talent behind the inspirational YouTube hit song “Chocolate Rain” performed his smash hit on JIMMY KIMMEL last night. The nonsensical tune has blown up online garnering over 4.3M view on YouTube. Even John Mayer got in on the gig by offering up his own version of the song during last week’s ‘Best Week Ever’.

I cannot get over this kid’s voice.  He looks like he’s 14 and he sounds like the second-coming of Barry White.

Here’s Zonday’s performance on Kimmel last night (gotta love the audience shots).

Take a look at John Mayer’s impromtu ‘cover’ during BWE.

Meet Brad Womak the new BACHELOR

THE BACHELOR, Brad Womak

AGE OF LOVE might have sufficiently ruined my taste for reality dating shows. I don’t know if I’m ready for the next installment of THE BACHELOR just quite yet. But it’s here and it can’t be ignored.

So what too good to be true guy is going to woo women into thinking he’s actually going to marry them this time around? Meet Brad Womack, 34, a successful, self-made entrepreneur, who has been selected to star in the 11th edition of ABC’s popular romance reality series when it returns this fall on MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 24 (9:30-11:00 p.m., ET), on ABC with a special 90-minute season premiere.

Currently residing in Austin, Texas, Brad co-owns four lucrative bars with his two brothers, Chad and Wesley, both of whom are married. With the success of these establishments, they are now looking to expand into other ventures and are in the early stages of developing a hotel. Sounds suspect to me: “the early stages of developing a hotel” to me sounds like he and his brothers sat around, got drunk and talked about how awesome it would be if the single brother could go on TV and turn his 15-minutes of fame into a national commercial for their bars which in turn would lead to an increase in customers which would of course mean more money that they can use to start thinking about opening a hotel. Am I right?

Anywhere, here’s a glimpse at the new BACHELOR. Anyone else ready for THE BACHELORETTE to come back? I know I am.

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE Recap: Top 6 Performers (UPDATE)

Ok, I finally got around to watching last night’s SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. What a show!! Here’s my very brief recap of each dance.

Lacey Schwimmer & Pasha Kovalev
Dance #1: Hip Hop
Pasha rocked this one out. Lacey was great as a mannequin but I thought she was a bit underutilized in the dance tonight. The judges all loved it

Dance #2: Smooth Waltz
This was beautifully performed, but I expected nothing best from the best two partner dancers in the competition. Pasha really stood out to me. He has shown so much versatility this season that I almost forget that he has a specialty. Both did a fantastic job and the judges loved it.

Danny Tidwell and Lauren Gottelieb

Dance #1: Contemporary
Once again, Mia Michaels is a creative genius. I loved this dance! It was so powerful and even more importantly, so different than anything we’ve seen so far this season. The way they utilized not only the whole stage but the whole theater was amazing. Performed amazingly by Danny & Lauren. Fantastic! No surprise that the judges went crazy for it.

Dance #2: Disco
Eh, just eh for me. The dance was complicated but I thought the execution wasn’t as strong as it could have been. I know I’m not a Lauren fan and that this is a tad bit biased, but each week she seems to mess up a move just enough for me to notice. This week she stumbled through a few moves and it really was noticeable. The judges loved it so what do I know.

Sabra Johnson and Neil Haskell
Dance #1: Jazz
YOWZA! That dance was incredible!! So perfectly executed and hot, hot, hot. I never knew a business meeting could be like that!! How about the gymnastics move that Neil did laying straight in the air over Sabra?! What?! Sabra NEEDS to win it all, and I love that Neil has really stepped it up since he was separated from Lauren. I need to re-watch this dance again before I listen to the judge’s comments.

Dance#2: Paso Doble
Um, Neil is leather pants? Need I say more? Ok I will…another fantastic performance by Sabra & Neil. They are the couple of the night!! It was so strong and so in character. The ending move with Neil dropping Sabra down his body was great (but it wasn’t as smooth as when Benji & Cousin Heidi did it last year). The judges continued their evening of praise with all around love for these two dancers.

So which guy and which girl is going home and will miss the finale?

For me, it’s got to be Lauren that goes, and for the guys I just don’t know. It’s between Pasha and Neil and neither deserve to go? TEAM SABRA!!

Each morning I head over to my MeeVee guide to check out what’s on for the day so I can do this morning update.  Do you know how happy I’m going to be come mid-September when the little “N” appears next to each show indicating that it’s a “New” episode?!  I love my summer TV, don’t get me wrong, but I’m really starting to miss my Fall shows.

TV Stars Share: What Book Got You Hooked?

August 8, 2007 by

A number of authors and celebrities are participating in What Book Got You Hooked?”— a national awareness campaign from First Book, the children’s literacy organization that provides new books to children from low-income families. The 15-year-old organization has just given its 50 millionth book to children in need.

What books were important to some of our favorite TV stars? Click here to find out.
John Krasinski - What Book Got You Hooked? Tyler James Williams - What Book Got You Hooked

Shane Sparks - What Book Got You Hooked Rebecca Romijn - What Book Got You Hooked

What was the book or books that got you hooked?

For me, I think it was anything and everything by Shel Silverstein.

“Prayer of the Selfish Child”
Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep,
and if I die before I wake,
I pray the Lord my toys to break
so none of the other kids can use ’em.
Amen.

BIG BROTHER’s Amber Shoots Off Her Mouth (SPOILERS)

August 8, 2007 by
Filed under Big Brother, Big Brother Spoilers

Amber just made life outside the BIG BROTHER house a wee bit tougher for herself, her mother and her sister after making disparaging comments about Jewish people last night during the live feeds.  I saw this video clip for the first time on TV with MeeVee just a little while ago.  Jameka does what she can to help Amber out of the situation and get her to stop talking but Amber doesn’t seem to get it.

The clip is a little out of synch (which is annoying) but listen as Amber digs herself into a big hole.  This seems to be popping up a lot on other sites today.

TV News from the World Wide Web

Here’s a little round-up of some TV-related stories making their way around this thing we call the internet (I really think it’s going to catch on).

The Emmys like their traditions (and no I’m not not talking about overlooking Lauren Graham). Fox’s plans to change the red carpet to green (in an attempt to show their eco-friendly ways) was swatted down by Emmy officials who worried that a green carpet might be reminiscent of the carpet The CW uses for its big events. And since The Emmys don’t like to acknowledge The CW exists….(TV Week)

Brian Grazer is working on a new show about the FBI, tentatively titled THE FBI, with the help of the real FBI. The show follows an Iraq War veteran who leads an FBI unit called the Citizens Incidents Response Group. Grazer and team will have unprecedented access to the FBI as they show how the bureau has changed since 9/11. Right, because that’s what we need the FBI doing…working on a TV show. Good to know my tax dollars are being put to good use. You think if the FBI was going to help anyone it would be Jack Bauer – look at all he’s done for this country. (The Hollywood Reporter)

Yesterday we got news that Mandy Moore will be a guest star on HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER. And today we learn that Enrique Iglesias will also show up to hang with Ted and the gang. Well more specifically, Robin. Iglesias will play Gael, a vacation fling that Robin tries to bring back to real life. (Ausiello)

Fans of JERICHO unite! Oh wait, you already did that. Well then at least come together for the first even JERICHO fan convention. The “nutty” viewers will be descending on Oakley, KS from Sept. 14-16th for what they are calling “Jerichon”. If you are interested in learning more, click here.

Speaking of fan conventions, don’t forget that THE OFFICE convention will be rolling into Scranton, PA from October 26-28th. Believe it or not, I’m not going to be able to go. I have a wedding that weekend. I still can’t believe it.

Are the MTV Video Awards even relevant? Does anyone watch videos anymore? The nominees for the 2007 MTV Video Awards were announced yesterday. Expect Justin Timberlake to continue his world domination by taking home a few more moonmen. For a complete list of nominees, click here.

On another MTV note, THE REAL WORLD: SYDNEY debuts tonight. I got the pilot episode a few weeks ago but couldn’t bring myself to watch it. Luckily our friends over at Buzz Sugar did and they have all the dirt on what I’m betting will be another dirty season.

I don’t have Showtime but I keep hearing great things about WEEDS so maybe it’s about time I add yet another cable station on to my insanely high cable bill. How can I not be watching a show that has a season ending where the lead character is “being held at gunpoint by some very jumpy homeboys and a gang of trigger-happy Armenians, with an empty safe where her weed was supposed to be.” Sounds like fun. Read more about the season premiere of WEEDS at MeeVee.

Kate Walsh of PRIVATE PRACTICE is getting married soon. This past weekend weekend she had a little bachelorette bash at the Venetian Hotel in Vegas with her girlfriends including former GREY’S ANATOMY co-star Sara Ramirez and Keisha Chambers, the wife of Grey’s star Justin Chambers. Just Jared has some pics from the girl’s night out.

Four presidential candidates have been booked as guests on THE DAILY SHOW while on the campaign trail. Sen. Joe Biden is up first tonight. Politics asides, Joe Biden has always been one of my favorite guests on TDS. He’s a pretty funny guy. Check out tonight’s show and see what I mean.

What are you all watching tonight? Anything I’m not?

MeeVee RecommendsSo You Think You Can Dance
The final six contestants perform for guest judge Debbie Allen. So excited to see Debbie Allen back tonight. I thought she was a great judge her first time around earlier this year. If you want to know which couples will be dancing together tonight and to what styles, click here for the latest SYTYCD spoilers.

MeeVee RecommendsRescue Me
Janet plots revenge when she learns what Tommy did with the baby; Franco questions his marriage proposal to Natalie in light of Alicia and Keela’s return; and Tommy faces his ghosts.

MeeVee RecommendsTop Chef
Guest judge Govind Armstrong joins the cheftestants for two challenges. The first involves ice cream, and the second involves hangover cures.

MeeVee RecommendsLast Comic Standing
Only eight contestants are left. They must serve as court jesters at a medieval tournament.

Kristen Bell on LOST?

August 8, 2007 by

This is what dreams are made of, and I have a strong suspicion that this scoop is just that…a dream.  But according to Michael Ausiello, Kristen Bell is in fact being considered for the role of Charlotte on LOST.

I can tell you for a fact that Kristen’s name has been brought up with regard to the new role of Charlotte, the hot twentysomething who is said to be “precocious, loquacious and funny… a very successful academic who also knows how to handle herself in the real world.” Yep, sounds like our Kristen! The only question now is whether my in-demand BFF is ready to jump back into another series.

Let’s slow down there, Mikey. Kristen’s name being “brought up” and extending an offer to her are two very different things.

And hold on to your hats because what I’m about to say might come as a shock to all of you.  I don’t want to see Kristen Bell on LOST. I know, I know that sounds insane but it’s just too soon.  She is still very much Veronica to me and I fear seeing her on LOST  might take me out the show a bit.  And anyway, I’m all about seeing Kristen becoming America’s next sweetheart on the big screen.
