EMMY Live Blogging with GMMR

Whew…this has been a LONG LONG night.  I’m outta here.  Thanks so much to all of you who hung out with me here tonight.  Now it’s time to hear YOUR take on the Emmy’s winners and losers.

Here we go…the EMMYS!!

11:07: Helen Mirren gives the OUTSTANDING DRAMA SERIES award to THE SOPRANOS.

11:00: Back to You stars Kelsey Grammar and Patricia Heaton are presenting the award for OUTSTANDING COMEDY SERIES to 30 ROCK…WOW!! Like WOW…wow…wow…wow!! I’m just…wow.

The Sox are about to lost to the Yankees, but the Patriots are about to beat the Chargers. Yeah, that’s how my night is going. Not all things are going wrong for me, but things that are going right aren’t quite the right things.

10:53: Cane star, Jimmy Smitts and Private Practice star, Kate Walsh are giving the award to OH MY GOD James Spader the award for OUSTANDING ACTOR IN A DRAMA SERIES for his role on Boston Legal. I kid you not, I had already written out James Gandolfini for the win. Shocked!! My thoughts right now…Ducky is sitting in the front row and Blaine is on stage accepting an award! Blaine, that’s not a name, that’s a major appliance.

10:50: William Shatner & Debra Messing are on stage – William Shatner on stage scares me to no end. OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTRESS IN A COMEDY SERIES goes to America Ferrera for Ugly Betty. Go Betty Suarez – own it girl!!

10:43: I somehow managed to lost the last 10 minutes of this live blog. And sadly it was the best ten minutes of the show so far. Stephen Colbert & Jon Stewart took the stage and announced that Ricky Gervais won the award for OUSTANDING ACTOR IN A COMEDY for Extras. No doubt that I hero-worship Ricky Gervais, but as Extras has such short seasons (I think this one was only 9 half-hour eps) I am a little shocked. But I’m glad Ricky wasn’t there, they decided to give the award to their friend Steve Carell who promptly rushed on stage and grabbed the award. Funniest moment of the whole show.

Hugh Laurie and Felicity Huffman took the stage and presented Sally Field with the award for OUTSTANDING ACTRESS IN A DRAMA SERIES for her work on Brothers & Sisters. Sally had a nice speech, but then lost it completely and I think began cursing about the war in Iraq as there was an awkward cut away. Bizarre

10:22: Ryan Seacrest is on stage in tights and I’m pretty sure he’s never felt more comfortable. And now what I’ve been waiting ALL night for…a little music battle with Kanye & Rainn. Rainn looks adorable!! Kanye and Rainn will be going head-to-head in ‘Don’t Forget the Lyrics’ style…the category: “Songs of Kanye West”. Rainn Wilson WINS!! The men are giving away the award for OUTSTANDING REALITY COMPETITION to The Amazing Race (well, that’s one I predicted correctly). Phil is taking the stage…yay Phil!!

10:11: Teri Hatcher and Anthony Anderson bring Emmy award winner for OUTSTANDING GUEST ACTOR/ACTRESS IN A COMEDY SERIES Stanley Tucci and Elaine Stritch to the stage to present the awards for OUTSTANDING DIRECTING IN A COMEDY SERIES to Richard Shepard for the Ugly Betty pilot.

Now it’s time for OUTSTANDING DIRECTING IN A COMEDY SERIES. And the winner is Greg Daniels, The Office – ‘Gay Witch Hunt’. (YES! YES! YES! YES! FINALLY!!)

10:06: Joely Fisher and Brad Garrett are presenting an award. If this weren’t a Fox show, these two would never be presenters. They did make some timely jokes about Charlie Sheen’s promiscuity – that’s a new one. OUTSTANDING INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCE IN A VARIETY OR MUSIC PROGRAM goes to Tony Bennett…yawn.

10:02: Masi Oka of HEROES is online and presenting Tom from MySpace. – hey, that’s my friend. Do you know him? Well he and Masi are giving an award to CurrentTV.com to Al Gore. Um, this is an award for OUTSTANDING INTERACTIVE TELEVISION. Are there many others in this category or did the Emmy producers just want to have an excuse to have Al Gore on stage? And when did it get super trendy to honor Al Gore? I’m not saying it’s a bad thing, but he’s ubiquitous these days.

9:55: OUTSTANDING DIRECTING IN MINI-SERIES or MOVIE (yes another one) goes to Philip Martin of Prime Suspect. And followed up by OUTSTANDING WRITING FOR A MINI-SERIES or MOVIE to Frank Deasy for Prime Suspect.

I’m getting really sleepy. If someone could fast forward to the future and let me know if The Office wins Best Comedy. If it doesn’t, can you please get back to me ASAP so I can go to bed. My eyeballs are going to fall out of my head. At least Kanye and Rainn are coming up soon.

9:50: Uh oh Lewis Black is taking the stage?! Who thought this was a good idea. I’m nervous for the censors already. He’s riffing on the in-show ads and the credits being covered at the end. He’s getting at some funny stuff, but I fear that he might have a stroke on stage. Ooh, a shot of Kyle Chandler.

9:48: Sally Field and Patrick Dempsey. This is my first glimpse of McDreamy tonight and he looks…dayum!! Another award for these damn mini-series. OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTRESS FOR A MINI-SERIES OR MOVIE goes to Helen Mirren. What a year this woman is having. She’s so gorgeous. Just stunning!

9:38: A tribute to The Sopranos by The Jersey Boys – I’ve been waiting for this all night. Oh, uh this is not what I thought it was going to be. For some reason, I thought the words were going to be changed up to spoof on The Sopranos. But in the end, I guess you just don’t spoof on The Sopranos. Ok, the music is good, but it’s not funny like I thought it was going to be. Bring on Kanye West and Rainn Wilson – I need a good laugh tonight.

The cast of The Sopranos take the stage to a standing ovation. Expect to see this picture posted everywhere tomorrow.

Random thought…um, it’s not a good sign that the cast of ‘Ugly Betty’ is seated right in front of the stage, right?

9:34: Here are the women dominating cable TV these days – Kyra Sedgwick, Glenn Close and Mary Louise Parker. Bravo to these fabulous women. Um, someone pass Kyra a tissue – she’s sweatin’ big time! They are there to present the award for OUTSTANDING MADE FOR TV MOVIE to Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee.

9:32: Promo for ‘Dan in Reel Life’ which looks awesome (and not, it’s not just because it stars Steve Carell…but ok, that’s a big factor). It premieres on October 26th which happens to be during The Office convention in Scranton, PA. I won’t be there (sooo bummed, but I have a really good reason). If Carell does show up for the convention, he should host a premiere there – that’s a good group to support your movie opening night.

9:26: From NCIS (and ‘Summer School’) Mark Harmon and from Desperate Housewives, Marcia Cross. They are presenting the award for OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A MINI-SERIES OR MOVIE to Judi Davis for The Starter Wife.

9:19: The theme music from The Office just started and for some reason I got a little teary (what is wrong with me? I can’t wait for that show to come back). YAY Steve Carell and Office video…this is going to be the best part of the Emmys so far. Krasinski…and DAN the PA. Jenna and her huge rack – love it!! Jenna’s hair looks amazing – please tell me that’s Pam’s new do – I love it. Steve Carell gives The Daily Show (his old stomping grounds) the award for OUTSTANDING VARIETY SHOW.

It looks like Steve’s not done. Know he’s giving away the award for OUTSTANDING MUSIC or COMEDY SPECIAL to Tony Bennet: An American Classic.

9:13: NPH and jailbait are done yet. They are giving away the award for OUTSTANDING WRITING FOR A DRAMA SERIES to David Chase of THE SOPRANOS (are you shocked? I know I am…LOL)

9:08: Hayden and her fugly dress just got prettier when she took the stage with Neil Patrick Harris. NPH just made about the 500th joke about Hayden turning 18 and being legal. It’s kind of icky, but coming from a gay guy it’s somehow much more funny. Leslie Caron (winner last week for OUTSTANDING GUEST ACTRESS) is presenting the award for OUTSTANDING DIRECTING IN A DRAMA SERIES to Alan Taylor for THE SOPRANOS.

9:02: Queen Latifah is providing a tribute to Roots. The original cast members have taken the stage 30 years after the premiere of the mini-series. LaVar Burton was incredible in Roots and Star Trek, but he’ll always be the guy from Reading Rainbow. So the cast is here to present the award for OUTSANDING MINI-SERIES to Broken Trail.

8:54: Keifer Sutherland has one of the prettiest ladies there tonight on his arm, Ms. Ali Larter. Together they are presenting the award for OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTOR IN A MINI-SERIES OR MOVIE to Robert Duvall for Broken Trail.

8:52: Alec Baldwin is wearing an off-white tux – I never get that, it always looks weird with a white shirt. Anyway, he’s giving away the award for OUTSTANDING DIRECTING FOR A COMEDY, MUSIC or VARIETY SHOW to Rob Marshall (director of ‘Chicago’) for Tony Bennett: An American Classic.

8:49: Seacrest…oh, I forgot he was hosting tonight. Christina Aguilera and Tony Bennett are performing. Hey Britney, take a look…this is how your contemporary does it. Show her how it’s done Xtina. It looks like the female backup dancers are wearing Brit’s outfits from the VMAs – but of course they fit. All due respect to Tony, he’s a legend, but I was expecting to forget the words at any second.

8:48: Promo for the new season of Prison Break. I’ve watched the first two new episodes and they are good…I mean really good.

8:40: This show is moving pretty fast tonight. Jennifer Love Hewitt & Jon Cryer are presenting the award for OUTSTANDING WRITING FOR A COMEDY, MUSIC or VARIETY SHOW goes to Late Night with Conan O’Brien. Ok this one makes me happy because if it can’t be The Daily Show then it should be the other best late night show on TV. Good job, Conan!!

8:36: Eva Longoria & the boys from Entourage are presenting the award for OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING DRAMA ACTRESS which goes to Katherine Heigl of Grey’s Anatomy. YAY Katherine. I’m really happy for her win tonight.

8:32: Ellen DeGeneres is rambling on, but her rambling is much funnier than Ray Romano. She’s presenting a montage of topical one liners from late night TV that turned into a tribute to Tom Snyder who passed away earlier this year.

8:30: Sox (0)/Yankees (0), 1st inning. Pats (7) /Chargers (0), 1st Quarter. I hate that FOX is using the NBC Thursday night comedy music to promote their new show. They knew what they were doing when they posted it.

8:26: While I’m still sad over Jenna’s non-win, seeing Kyle Chandler on stage looking hot as all hell is a little consolation. Kyle is joined on stage by Katherine Heigl (whose name they mispronounced and she called them out on it). They presented Thomas Hayden Church with the award for OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTOR IN A DRAMA or MINI-SERIES for Broken Trail. Ok, commerical break – time to check in with the Red Sox and Patriots (let’s hope someone I want to win is winning something tonight).

8:20: And we’re back. Tina Fey & Julie Louis Dreyfuss saunter on stage to present the award for OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING COMEDY ACTRESS. I’m going to throw up right now. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let Jenna Fischer win. BEST SUPPORTING COMEDY ACTRESS goes to Jamie Pressley of MY NAME IS EARL. Ok, that started with a “J” and I almost died. We still think you’re the best, Jenna!! Jamie is fantastic in EARL and is quite deserving of this award for what she brings to the role.

8:15: America Ferrera and Vanessa Williams are up on stage to present the award for: OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING DRAMA ACTOR…Terry O’Quinn (Lost).

WOW! I was not expecting that, but I’m so excited that Terry has finally been recognized for his awesome portrayal of Locke on LOST. It means a lot for LOST to bring home this Emmy tonight.

8:08: Ray Romano is giving away the first award of the night. He’s doing a little stand-up and I don’t know if it got a little racy or if there were technical difficulties but the broadcast cut out for a good 5 seconds – not a way to start off the show.

The first award of the night is one of the biggest categories. Why am I nervous? OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING COMEDY ACTOR…Jeremy Piven (Entourage).

Hey, you gotta love The Pivs – he wasn’t my favorite to win but there’s no doubt he’s deserving of the award.

8:05: The stage is round and the audience is in front and behind of the stage. It’s kind of freaking me out. Everyone is in folding chairs and it looks really uncomfortable. Seacrest is ok so far.

8:01: An Isaiah Washington joke with a close-up on TR Knight…ouch!! This is a pretty funny show opening. Gotta love THE FAMILY GUY!

8pm: THE FAMILY GUY is opening up the show and ripping some new shows. Oh how I love Brian and Stewie.

I think I’ll be here. Is it aired earlier on the East Coast than on the West Coast or is it live? I don’t know if I want to be spoiled but I had a lot of fun when you did this for the SAG Awards. Of course I was at work and wasn’t going to watch the show until way later that night.

  3. Laura on September 15th, 2007 8:49 pm

I decided not to continue paying for cable, but it’s times like this that I wish I still had access to E!, etc.

Knowing that you’ll be here to give all the details of the Red Carpet arrivals makes me so happy!

  4. mg714 on September 15th, 2007 10:05 pm

I’m so glad you’ll be live blogging tomorrow. It’s so much more fun to “watch” the show with other people as obsessed with TV as me! Here’s hoping for a good show and some big Office wins, especially!

  5. Emobacca on September 16th, 2007 12:22 pm

The internet will crash if Jenna Fischer wins

  6. Kristi on September 16th, 2007 8:11 pm

Ah, I thought showing TR when they did the Isaiah joke was kind of… not in good taste (can’t think of a better way to put it).

I actually thought Ryan did pretty well 🙂 and the Family guy opening was rather amusing!

  7. kilwiggle7 on September 16th, 2007 8:11 pm

what’s up with ray ramano… not all that funny…

  8. mg714 on September 16th, 2007 8:14 pm

Is it strange that I liked Ryan’s opening better than that whole Ray Romano thing? And too sad that Rainn didn’t win! 🙁

  9. mg714 on September 16th, 2007 8:18 pm

I’m so so happy Terry O’Quinn won! I love Locke! I was afraid there’d be a Sopranos sweep tonight

  10. kilwiggle7 on September 16th, 2007 8:18 pm

ray romano was kinda bad… not funny… terry o quinn looked sharp in that pink shirt and black tie… wow!

  11. Kristi on September 16th, 2007 8:20 pm

Woah.. I did not expect Terry to win at all – but he deserved it so I’m happy! Same goes for Jeremy Piven – I was rooting for Rainn or Niel but I love Jeremy as well 🙂

  12. carly f. on September 16th, 2007 8:21 pm

i am sweating like a beast because i’m so nervous for jenna haha i’m weird

  13. sasha on September 16th, 2007 8:24 pm

i’m so shocked terry o’quinn won, but i couldn’t be happier!!! he’s been so consistently amazing, its about time he’s recognized!

  14. mg714 on September 16th, 2007 8:25 pm

Oh no – no win for Jenna! 🙁 I like Jaime Pressley but I love Jenna.

  15. Kristi on September 16th, 2007 8:28 pm

Man… I wanted Jenna to win 🙁 I’m not a fan of “My Name is Earl” at all so GRR!

  16. mg714 on September 16th, 2007 8:32 pm

GMMR – I’m with you. At least my Cubs and Bears won today. I’m holding out hope for the other Office nominations though. I’m surprised at the wins so far (except not so surprised about The Pivs) so you never know.

  17. jen on September 16th, 2007 8:36 pm

i think i’m going to cry, but not because of the reasons i thought i would. i thought i was going to cry if jenna won, but now i want to cry because i am currently 0-3 and the people my favorites lost to were not even in my top two. seriously, jeremy piven over neil patrick harris and rainn wilson? he’s great, but not awesome. and jaimie pressley over jenna fischer and vanessa williams? terry o’quinn most def. deserved it, but i thought the other (michael emerson) was going to win. i think i might actually go to bed right now, because the show is getting worse and worse as the night goes on, and ryan seacrest is not helping.

  18. mg714 on September 16th, 2007 8:40 pm

Wow! these wins are really surprising me tonight. I am kind of thinking that 30 Rock or Ugly Betty might knock off The Office now! Hmm… these awards tonight are so weird.

  19. Kristi on September 16th, 2007 8:41 pm

    man… I’m 0 for 5 – I’ve never been this off!

  20. jen on September 16th, 2007 8:46 pm

yes 1 for 5. finally got one right…decided to keep watching, hoping for an awesome steve carrell speech WHEN he wins

  21. mg714 on September 16th, 2007 8:47 pm

Didn’t The Daily Show have a lock on that writing category the past few years or is that the variety show category? I’m happy for Conan though! Nothing is going the way I expected but I am happy for some of the surprises, yet very sad about Rainn and Jenna. I really hope Steve wins, though!

  22. Kristi on September 16th, 2007 8:52 pm

Random: the “Prison Break” promo’s they keep showing are making me incredibly excited!!

hmm… I thought the best variety and best writing on variety was the same thing for some reason.

  23. mg714 on September 16th, 2007 8:54 pm

What is with those britney spears-like outfits those dancers are wearing? Seems kind of strange with Tony Bennet singing – they should have just had he and Christina Aguilera singing alone on the stage

  24. jen on September 16th, 2007 9:04 pm

i thought ryan seacrest wasn’t going to try and be funny. he is being a real a$$ with his “funny” jokes. first the paula abdul one wasn’t funny, and now the vanessa hudgens one was just plain mean. can they replace him with katherine heigl midshow?

  25. Give Me My Remote on September 16th, 2007 9:06 pm

Taking a quick break to say HI!! Thanks to all of you for hanging out and watching the Emmys with me. I love reading the comments during the commercial break. I’m bummed about The Office non-wins too…really bummed, but there are no major upsets so far. It’s not like Two and a Half Men are winning!!

  26. jen on September 16th, 2007 9:14 pm

the only way that this years emmys can redeem themselves after ryan seacrest, neil patrick harris and jenna fischer being robbed, and ryan seacrest(sorry, he’s that bad), is if lauren graham or kristen bell win best actress in a drama.

  27. Kristi on September 16th, 2007 9:17 pm

I didn’t know NPH was gay! I had perhaps thought he was but I wasn’t sure … aww man, no wonder he’s so awesome

  28. Kristi on September 16th, 2007 9:21 pm

Okay, I have come to my senses and I DO remember NPH coming out now but i didn’t watch “How I met Your Mother” at the time so I just associated with Doogie as opposed to realizing they’re the same guy haha anyways, I’m done rambling.

    Yay Steve presenting!

  29. Lauren on September 16th, 2007 9:22 pm

steve carrell is rocking! thanks for doing this gmmr!

  30. mg714 on September 16th, 2007 9:24 pm

Loved that thing with Steve! And it’s so great he got to give the award to Jon Stewart (though I would have loved to have seen Colbert win as well)

  31. Kristi on September 16th, 2007 9:27 pm

haha hey, I finally got one right! Tony Bennett was a safe bet 😉

  32. Billiam on September 16th, 2007 9:28 pm

I feel a bit bad for Hayden P (I have no idea how to spell her last name): there’s no way she can be comfortable while people make sex jokes about her. And just cuz it’s legal to have sex with her, doesn’t mean it’s not creepy for adult men to ogle her.

And I wanted Lost’s finale to win a writing or directing award.

  33. jen on September 16th, 2007 9:30 pm

man, this show got ten times funnier with the office cast on. here’s a suggestion, the whole cast should host next year. now that will be an emmys worth watching.

  34. Kristi on September 16th, 2007 9:35 pm

Oo!! A commercial for “Dan in Real Life”! I can’t wait to see that… not only is it Steve but it’s freakin’ Dane Cook as well (who I love)!

  35. Tippy on September 16th, 2007 9:45 pm

I could do without the musical numbers (and I love musicals), just get to the awards already. NPH looked great, though he should have won. I agree with everyone that Ryan just isn’t that funny. I have to admit I have been on myspace watching the HIMYM videos of Lily and Marshall in Scotland. (the TV has been on mute for a while) The Soprano’s cast really look like a mob family. 🙂 Are they presenting anything or just standing there?

  36. kilwiggle7 on September 16th, 2007 9:49 pm

the enjoyment and laughter of steve carrells bit was ruined by an amber alert passing along the bottom of the screen 🙁

    he was great though!

  37. mg714 on September 16th, 2007 10:15 pm

Oh man – 0 for 3 for the office. I’m really afraid they’re not going to win the big award! 🙁

  38. mg714 on September 16th, 2007 10:21 pm

Guess I typed too soon – yay for Greg Daniels!

  39. Kristi on September 16th, 2007 10:21 pm

aww yay! We won best writing on a comedy series 🙂 I wish they wouldn’t have cut Greg off though – geez, people have went on much longer and much more boring way.

Random: Does anyone else keep thinking they’re showing an office commercial when they play that ” Aint Nothing Wrong with that” song from last years promos in the new Fox show..?

  40. mg714 on September 16th, 2007 10:31 pm

Loved Rainn with Kanye! All The Office people are so incredible (as if we didn’t already know).

  41. mg714 on September 16th, 2007 10:41 pm

OMG – that was so shocking!!!! I’m happy that if it didn’t go to steve it went to ricky but that was totally out of nowhere I thought. I loved that even though he didn’t win at least we did get the jon-stephen-steve reunion anyway!

  42. Lauren on September 16th, 2007 10:44 pm

    NOOOOOO Steve!!!!! 🙁

  43. Kristi on September 16th, 2007 10:47 pm

aww well if Steve couldn’t win at least he got to steal Ricky’s award 😉 Works for me.

Loved Rainn and Kanye, that was highly amusing and I was all happy when Rainn kept going after he won haha

  44. jen on September 16th, 2007 10:52 pm

dangit…i thought steve was a shoe-in to win. but at least somebody from the office(though the british one) won that award. and all was forgiven for that awesome carrell-stewart-colbert reunion.

  45. Kristi on September 16th, 2007 10:59 pm

Yay America!! First award that’s made me happy tonight 🙂

and my God, does this ever end?! If they’d stop showing commercials and showing 50345 awards I don’t care about we could be done by 11:00 (which it is now).

  46. mg714 on September 16th, 2007 11:00 pm

These have to be some of the craziest award results. I think the only ones I”m not that surprised about in the main categories are The Pivs and America Ferrera winning. I’m shocked that James Gandolfini lost to James Spader. Wow! Not all the surprises are bad, but I really wish some of them were not at the cost of Steve and Jenna, especially. I guess I shouldn’t have expected much from tonight after Friday Night Lights was totally snubbed from the nominations in the first place.

  47. kilwiggle7 on September 16th, 2007 11:03 pm

    30 rock??? wtf?

  48. Kristi on September 16th, 2007 11:04 pm

    30 Rock?! Seriously?! GRRR!!

  49. mg714 on September 16th, 2007 11:04 pm

Now with the way all these awards have been going, I have to say I’m not that shocked that 30 Rock won. Though I really like that show, Of course I wanted The Office to win and I do think it’s the better show. Oh well. AT least it wasn’t a total shutout since Greg won.

  50. sasha on September 16th, 2007 11:05 pm

i’m going to put myself out on a limb, and say…

YES!!! 30 ROCK!!! what a fabulous show!

  51. Lauren on September 16th, 2007 11:06 pm

is it sad that i feel physically ill at these results? i am so bummed 🙁

  52. mg714 on September 16th, 2007 11:10 pm

Well, the final award wasn’t surprising at all – I was half expecting Heroes to win or something! Here’s hoping that since The Sopranos isn’t around anymore that FNL will get its due next year!

  53. Kristi on September 16th, 2007 11:11 pm

effin’ Soprano’s!!?! I quit.. which is convenient ’cause it’s over. What a waste of 16 hours of my life (well… it felt that long).

  54. kilwiggle7 on September 16th, 2007 11:12 pm

overall, there was very little seacrest, which was good… i am sad that the office didn’t win more…

  55. Billiam on September 16th, 2007 11:19 pm

At least Two and a Half Men was shut out.
And although I wanted Office to win, they didn’t submit a very great episode. And 30 Rock would be my second choice anyway.

Oh, and Greg Daniels won for WRITING, not directing. The directing one really should have gone to the guy who directed Scrubs’ “My Musical.”

  56. mg714 on September 16th, 2007 11:21 pm

So what does it say about the Emmys when the best moments of the night involved people from The Office – The Office folks talking about Steve, Rainn and Kanye, Steve jumping up on stage with Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert – and yet the show basically gets swept except for Greg Daniels’ win? Wow. The Emmys really have become irrelevant.

Sorry – just a bit bitter. I am happy for some of the wins, but just pretty shocked – I don’t think the best performances actually won in every category.

[…] live-blogging would have required my watching the show in its painful entirety (and the onslaught of FOX plugs), […]

  58. Melissa Ann on September 17th, 2007 12:19 am

That was a pretty disappointing evening. (Not to say these people were undeserving…) I just think this wasn’t a people pleaser of an awards show, or of award winners. I love t.v. love it. But, I don’t think the best men won in most cases.

I loved your reading rainbow comment, too true…

    It was a weird, long, anti-climactic evening…

  59. Jen on September 17th, 2007 5:32 pm

Ok did anyone else here Stephen Colbert mis-pronounce Steve Carrell’s name? I love how none of them take take award show’s seriously, they really do just prove how skewed our culture is that we care more about public recognition of actors than humanitarians. And that we really do love to see the ridiculousness of it all get shoved back into perspective by a fake news anchor and a fake pundit from a cable network that plays “Joe Dirt” three times a week.

Loved your reference to “Pretty in Pink”, but James Spader was Stef, not Blaine. Andrew MacCarthy was Blaine.

I am at a loss. I am looking to apply for a car loan but my current credit is not enough for that. I have learnt that I can actually buy good credit history and so improve my credit score. But I am afraid I may delay a payment and do a bad turn to both – the seller of credit history and myself. Maybe it’s better to apply for a secured card at
