HEROES finally returns to NBC on Monday, September 24th. But if you are getting the shakes and need a quick fix, check out the latest NBC extended promo featuring clips from the new season.

Who Will Win BIG BROTHER 8?

BIG BROTHER 8 Season Finale

It all comes down to this. Tonight either Dick or Daniele Donato will be named the winner of BIG BROTHER 8 and walk away $500,000 richer. Their seven former housemates will cast their final vote of the season and choose the winner. Or should I say six of their former housemates as Eric will cast the seventh vote on behalf of us watching at home.

The formerly estranged father and daughter were the ultimate twosome in the house and despite their bickering played really well together. Dani let Dick’s intimidation tactics do her dirty work for her, and Dick rode the coattails of Dani’s incredible HOH and POV game play. Now one of them will be $50k richer for their “efforts” and the other will pocket the grand prize of half a million dollars.

Also, tonight for the first time we will get the see the houseguest’s reaction when it is revealed that Eric Stein has been playing as America’s Player all season long. Rumor has it that some of the jury members already know so it will be interesting to see if the feign shock or not. I’m most interested in seeing Jessica’s reaction to the news.

The lesser of two evils will win tonight…good luck Double D’s!!

K-VILLE Series Premiere – What Did You Think?

Tonight K-VILLE was the first new series premiere of the 2007 Fall TV season.  Did you watch it?  If so, tell us what you thought of the series premiere? Is this a show that’s going on your season pass or are you going to pass all together?  Be the blogger.  I’ll be updating this post tomorrow with some of your comments.

PRISON BREAK Recap: Season Premiere – “Orientacion”

Prison Break Recaps, Season 3

Title: “Orientacion”
Original Airdate: 9/19/2007

Tonight we welcomed Michael Socfield and his band of merry men back for the third season premiere of PRISON BREAK. And what an episode it was! I know I gave you a sneak peek earlier, but here’s the full recap. Don’t get used to these. We aren’t going to be doing lengthy PRISON BREAK recaps this season…more like small reviews. But since it’s the first episode of the season (and it’s the only show I have to recap tonight) I figured I could indulged just this once. Let’s dish on what went down.

Picking up where we left off last season, we find Michael Scofield locked up in Sona, a Panamania prison where the worst of the worst criminals are sent when other jails won’t take them. Sona is nasty, and not in that Paris Hilton kind of way – I mean really nasty and dirty. I felt like I needed a shower after watching tonight’s episode just to get the stink and the grime off of me. (Ok, so I guess it is the same kind of nasty that is Paris Hilton after all.)

During his first few days of imprisonment, Michael is doing his best to keep to himself and the attention off of him. He looks on in horror as he takes in his new surroundings. There’s very little water, food, and the inmates are killing each other for what almost passes as sport. It’s hot as hell, but since Michael is covered in tattoos (that are no longer relevant to the to the storyline…and Wentworth Miller doesn’t want to sit in the makeup chair everyday putting the fake tats on) he has to always sport a long sleeved tee or sweatshirt despite the other inmates sweating in their tees and shorts.

Sona is a scary place to be, and I’m glad that the director’s explored that. It’s easy to forget with all his badass scheming that Michael Scofield is not a hardened criminal. He’s just a guy that has found himself in some pretty sucky circumstances after trying to help his brother. Michael’s is truly frightened to be stuck in Sona but he knows that showing his fear inside the prison means certain death.

THE FAMILY GUY Emmy Opener

With all the antics of last night’s EMMY awards I completely forgot about the hilarious opening number by Brian & Stewie of THE FAMILY GUY. Watching it live I think I missed most of the jokes. I think I was distracted by the balls of the Fox directors to cut to T.R. Knight during an Isaiah Washington joke (ouch). But since then I’ve watched it a few times and can’t stop laughing.

Love it or hate it?

Welcome Back Fall TV…FINALLY!!

Welcome Back Fall TV…FINALLY!!

I know you can’t see me, but I’m doing my happy dance right now (actually it’s awesome that you can’t see me because I’m a horrible dancer…and I haven’t yet showered today and my hair is a mess).  Welcome to Fall TV Season, y’all.  Over the next few weeks most of our favorite shows will be back on TV with all new episodes.  Networks will be rolling out their new Fall shows and will be frantically checking the overnight ratings on their crackberrys to see which of their shows have found their audience ($$$) or which have failed miserably and will be immediately pulled from the air never getting the chance to find an audience. This is the most exciting time of year for a TV fan. The shows you’ve waited all summer to return will be back soon, and then there’s all the newbies for you to check out.  Will there be a breakout hit like HEROES or LOST? Which new show will be the biggest bomb of the season? Ah, the anticipation of it all. So much TV and only so many TiVos in one person’s house.

If you could see my apartment right now you might think I was running a blackmarket Netflix up in here.  DVDs are piling up all around me to the point I’m feeling completely overwhelmed by the stuff I haven’t watched.  That’s pretty sad as I’ve watched a sickening amount of TV over the past few weeks.  But with the networks sending out the final versions of their Fall pilots, and screeners for returning shows, it amazing that I’m getting any sleep.  And just to prove how busy I am, I have had the S2 premiere of FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS sitting on my table for 3 days now and haven’t watched it….crazy, right?! But I have watched ALL the new fall shows and some of our returning favorites and I’ll be working as much as I can to post all the information as soon as possible.

To that end, I’m constantly updating my GMMR Fall TV Preview. I’ve added a handy link to my Fall TV Preview page at the top of the site so keep checking back to see when news shows are added. I’ve also created a Fall TV grid that lets you see what’s on every night of the week – hopefully it will be helpful when planning your Fall schedule.

So who’s with me?  Who else is super excited for the official beginning of the Fall TV Season?  What returning favorites are you most excited about seeing, and what newbies have made it on to your Fall TV radar?

PRISON BREAK Season 3 Premieres Tonight (Spoilers & Pics)

Prison Break Cast Season 3

The following contains spoilers for tonight’s season premiere of PRISON BREAK.

It’s time to break out of prison again…quick, does anyone know a good tattoo parlor inside a Panamanian jail? PRISON BREAK returns for its third season tonight at 8/7c on Fox and once again Michael Scofield finds himself behind bars – but this time around the jail makes Fox River look like a day spa (you know the ones with aromatherapy and the comfy robes…and murders & rapists).

I’ve seen the first two episodes of the season and let me tell you they are intense. Remember back in Season One when you would watch Prison Break holding your breath because you were never sure what was going to happen next? And remember Season Two when you never had that feeling because the show was wildly uneven and predictable? Yeah, well get prepared for some serious breath holding again because Prison Break is back and it’s recaptured the edge of your seat drama of Season One. Thank God, because I was nervous there for a while.

If I’m being honest, the idea of the third season landing Michael back in prison seemed a bit absurd. I know the name of the show is Prison Break, but just how many prisons can this one guy break out of in a few months? But after watching the first two eps, I was pleasantly surprised to find myself excited about the circumstances that are keeping Michael in jail, and even more so, the circumstances that landed him in Sona in the first place. If the writers and directors do this right, I think we are going to once again experience the same type of mutli-layered puzzle that they so effectively laid out in Season One.

Looking back and ahead…
I want to be careful not to give too much away of tonight’s episode, because I don’t want to completely spoil it for you, but it can’t hurt to take a quick look back at the end of Season Two and a glimpse at tonight’s episode. There are spoilers for plot points for the season so if you don’t want to be spoiled, you should probably stop reading about now.

The last time we saw Michael Scofield he had been locked up in Sona, a Panamanian prison known to be one of the toughest prisons in existence. An inmate led riot forced the guards to flee to the perimeters and Sona has since been run by the prisoners inside, namely a man who goes by Lechero (Robert Wisdom, “The Wire”). It’s do or die…kill or be killed in one of the most vile places on Earth.

Fall Preview: K-VILLE

K-Ville

Premiere Date: September 17, 2007
Airs: Mondays @ 9pm

Two years after Katrina, parts of the city are still in chaos, but hope has emerged. Battling an upsurge of violence, understaffing of police forces and a lack of crime labs and other facilities, the cops who remain in the New Orleans Police Department have courage to burn and a passion to reclaim and rebuild their city.

MARLIN BOULET (Anthony Anderson) is a brash, wry, in-your-face veteran of the NOPD’s Felony Action Squad, the specialized unit that targets the most-wanted criminals. Even when his partner deserted him during the storm, Boulet held his post, spending days in the water saving lives and keeping order. Now, two years later, he’s unapologetic about bending the rules when it comes to collaring bad guys. The stakes are too high, and the city too fragile, for him to do things by the book.Boulet’s new partner, TREVOR COBB (Cole Hauser), was a soldier in Afghanistan before joining the NOPD. He’s tough and committed, but if he’s less than comfortable with Boulet’s methods, it’s because he’s harboring a dark secret. Cobb has come to New Orleans seeking redemption, but redemption can be dangerous. Will Boulet be able to trust him? Will Cobb’s past endanger them both?

Through its no-holds-barred crime stories and dramatic personal stories, this intriguing series will take viewers from the Victorian mansions of the Garden District to the rubble of the Lower 9th Ward.

At first I was weary about a cop drama set in post-Katrina New Orleans. Was it going to exploit the disaster? Was it going to do more harm than good? I can’t say that I loved K-VILLE, but this isn’t my favorite genre so it had that going against it from the beginning. I don’t watch cop shows, I don’t’ really watch many procedurals. But I think K-VILLE has some promise. The backdrop of Katrina actually brings something interesting to the show. New Orleans becomes the third main character in the show, and with any good character it will only work if we get to see the character transform and grow over time. As for the other leads, I’m a big fan of Cole Hauser and both he and Anthony Anderson deliver as cops looking for redemption in a place that fights them at every turn. I personally found one of the B-storylines, that of Katrina deserter Charlie Pratt to be most compelling and I’m really interested to see that play out.  If you like this type of gritty cop dramas, then K-VILLE is worth checking out. (More of K-Ville later today)

THE OFFICE, Steve Carell Video at The Emmys

It might not have taken home the big awards we wanted it to, but I think it says a lot that THE OFFICE and its stars got the biggest laughs of the night. You’ve seen Kanye West & Rainn Wilson rapping at the Emmys, and then there was Jon Stewart & Stephen Colbert giving the award to Steve Carell (even though it wasn’t his). And now here’s THE OFFICE bit that Steve, Jenna Fischer, Rainn Wilson and John Krasinki did before Steve’s Emmy presentation.

The funniest moment of tonight’s EMMY awards had to be when Stephen Colbert & Jon Stewart announced the award for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series to EXTRAS star Ricky Gervais. But since Gervais wasn’t there they decided to give the award to their buddy Steve Carell of THE OFFICE. I’m working on getting the video right now, but until then, here’s the moment captured on film.

EMMY Live Blogging with GMMR

Whew…this has been a LONG LONG night.  I’m outta here.  Thanks so much to all of you who hung out with me here tonight.  Now it’s time to hear YOUR take on the Emmy’s winners and losers.

Here we go…the EMMYS!!

11:07: Helen Mirren gives the OUTSTANDING DRAMA SERIES award to THE SOPRANOS.

11:00: Back to You stars Kelsey Grammar and Patricia Heaton are presenting the award for OUTSTANDING COMEDY SERIES to 30 ROCK…WOW!! Like WOW…wow…wow…wow!! I’m just…wow.

The Sox are about to lost to the Yankees, but the Patriots are about to beat the Chargers. Yeah, that’s how my night is going. Not all things are going wrong for me, but things that are going right aren’t quite the right things.

10:53: Cane star, Jimmy Smitts and Private Practice star, Kate Walsh are giving the award to OH MY GOD James Spader the award for OUSTANDING ACTOR IN A DRAMA SERIES for his role on Boston Legal. I kid you not, I had already written out James Gandolfini for the win. Shocked!! My thoughts right now…Ducky is sitting in the front row and Blaine is on stage accepting an award! Blaine, that’s not a name, that’s a major appliance.

10:50: William Shatner & Debra Messing are on stage – William Shatner on stage scares me to no end. OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTRESS IN A COMEDY SERIES goes to America Ferrera for Ugly Betty. Go Betty Suarez – own it girl!!

10:43: I somehow managed to lost the last 10 minutes of this live blog. And sadly it was the best ten minutes of the show so far. Stephen Colbert & Jon Stewart took the stage and announced that Ricky Gervais won the award for OUSTANDING ACTOR IN A COMEDY for Extras. No doubt that I hero-worship Ricky Gervais, but as Extras has such short seasons (I think this one was only 9 half-hour eps) I am a little shocked. But I’m glad Ricky wasn’t there, they decided to give the award to their friend Steve Carell who promptly rushed on stage and grabbed the award. Funniest moment of the whole show.
