Tommy Lee with Police: Kid Rock and Tommy Lee Fight at MTV VMAs (Update)

Click here to Watch video of Kid Rock and Tommy Lee Fight at MTV VMAs

The MTV VMA disaster continues. I’m not sure who the producer’s of this show are but they should all be fired!! Perhaps the most exciting moment of the night was NOT actually on the show. During the live broadcast, Tommy Lee and Kid Rock threw down – oh the power of Pam Anderson’s ta ta’s.

The details are sketchy right now, but from what I understand, during Alicia’s Keyes performance the two went at it and punches were thrown. Jamie Foxx alluded to the fight while presenting on stage with Jennifer Garner, and then Diddy later added “Stop the violence of rock ‘n roll.” – ha!

More to come. Oh the drama. The VMAs suck but I’m glad I’m watching or I’d be missing out big time!!

Update: Kid Rock was cited for misdemeanor assault by the Las Vegas Police Department. That charge carries a prison sentence of up to 6 months, although officials have said that they don’t expect Rock to have to deal with any prison time.

Britney Spears a Complete Disaster on MTV VMAs

September 9, 2007 by

OH. MY. GOD. Britney Spears may never come back from this. I just watched her MUCH-hyped opening number of tonight’s MTV VMAs, and the girl has lost it. Yes, of course she’s lost her mind (we knew this when she married her first husband), but sadly Britney has lost the much needed IT that made her the mega-star she once was (back before cheating on Timberlake, marrying K-Fed, the babies, the booze…well you know the story.)

Where to being? Well, first off, she looked nervous as all hell. Nervous like I’ve never seen somebody of her experience and caliber look ever before. Her eyes showed nothing but fear from the opening notes of the song. Once known for her fierce dancing, Britney struggled through her dance routine looking like she was going to forget the choreography at any moment. Her eyes darted around to her backup dancers for help like a little girl in her first dance recital who was afraid she was going to forget all the steps. She looked absolutely lost on the stage. And even in the parts where she was more confident in the choreography, she gave nothing to the dance moves. Britney may have never had the best voice (can she even sing?), but she always knew how to work the dance floor as a distraction, and now it seems that she’s also lost that.

You know the other thing Britney forgot? How to lip synch to her own music. Again, Brit always had a talent for the lip synching, but tonight she was all over the place. Missing words, coming in late to the chorus. What a disaster.

I was talking with some friends earlier in the week about her performance tonight, and I said that she was too much of a mess to stage a comeback at this point in time. I honestly felt that a bad performance now could have a detrimental effect on Britney really restarting her career – and I fear that I’m right. Britney has alway been nothing if not a performer, and if she can’t pull it together on one of the most important nights of her entire career I think she may be done. Maybe she shouldn’t have stayed out partying until 3am this morning and maybe rehearsed a bit (or a lot) more. I don’t know what I was expecting, but I wasn’t expecting what I just saw. I think was her last shot and she blew it. Britney – best of luck to you…may I some day have to eat my words.

And yeah, I didn’t really comment on the outfit, because it was just so wrong.

Did you catch Britney’s performance on the VMAs? What did you think about it?

Cocktail Party Primer (Episode #6)

September 9, 2007 by

My apologies to Mostly Martha for not posting this week’s Cocktail Party Primer until right now. I left for NYC on Friday and didn’t have internet access this whole weekend.  But you know what, you don’t need a cocktail party to find this week’s hilarious recap of TV’s biggest news worth your time.  BRAVO once again to Martha…this is some great stuff.

Show our GMMR newbie the love, and let her know what you think about this past week’s TV headlines.

  • A nation’s innocence was stripped away this week when High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens rep’s confirmed that the naked pictures of her circulating the Internet are indeed real. Opinions differ as to whether the leaded pics resulted from the careless act of a lovestruck teenager or if there might be a more calculated motive. Whether intentionally or not, they’ll serve to raise her visibility outside of the tween set and to help quash rumors that her offscreen boyfriend Zac Efron maybe doesn’t actually like her, or girls in general, in that way.
  • Although nothing is officially in the works, David Schwimmer premptaviely nixed any hopes that he might someday revive the world’s Ross and Rachel angst by appearing in a Friends reunion. He told The Sun, “It was ten years ago – and it’s time to move on.” Of course, it’s foolish for anybody to think that he’s have time for such a frivolous project. Obviously, since he’s so busy with projects like. . . well there’s. . . hey, wasn’t he a giraffe or something Madagascar? Yeah, I bet that takes up a ton of time. Reprising Ross would clearly be beneath him.
  • After a few seasons of feasting, Sci-Fi nerds may be in for a long famine. This week we learned that the fifth season of Dr. Who won’t air until 2010, Flash Gordon won’t be renewed at all, and the network might split Battlestar Galactica’s final season over two years with a ten month break between the first and second halves.
  • A study in New Zealand found that children who watch more than two hours of television a day are more likely to suffer from attention problems when they get older, possibly because real life just seems boring in comparison. I, for one, think this is totally crap. I mean I was basically raised on TV.  Mr. Rogers (and The Muppet Babies, Duck Tales, and Strawberry Shortcake) were all my homies. I turned out just fine. Man, remember when Scrooge McDuck would dive into that big pile of money and swim around? That was so cool. I always wanted to do that. Wait, I’m sorry, what was I talking about? I’m bored. What time is it? Are there any Law & Order reruns on?
  • Tired of being the network known for quirky but thoughtful comedies and upscale period pieces, the BBC has decided to bring more trash to television. Literally. The new BBC show Dumped takes eleven unsuspecting volunteers and drops them at a landfill to fend for themselves for three weeks. The producers hope that the show will make people take a hard look at how wasteful their lives are. Hold on. They want the show to make us think about our real lives? I feel so lied to. I saw their Big Brother, I thought they knew what reality TV was for. And it isn’t thoughtful discourse and a chance to examine our lives. Why don’t they just admit why we’re all tuning in and crank this baby up to 11? May I suggest dropping a couple of those footballers wives and that tacky Jordon chick on a dump to bring a little trash to the trash. Now that’s a secret shame show I can get behind.

Kathy Griffin Wins Her Emmy!!

I just got home from a fantastic weekend in New York City so I’m just catching up on all the TV news from this past weekend.  I was beyond thrilled to read that Kathy Griffin took home the award for Outstanding Reality Program for her show, MY LIFE ON THE D-LIST (one of my personal faves).

Are you still on the D-List if you are an Emmy winner?  Of course.  The Emmy doesn’t really count unless you get it on stage during the live telecast.

It’s a good thing that Kathy won because we all know what happened last year when she didn’t.  Watch the video below to find out just what I’m talking about.  I love this chic!!

BREAKING NEWS: Sarah Wayne Callies Not Returning to PRISON BREAK

September 7, 2007 by

After months of speculation, Michael Ausiello just confirmed that Sarah Wayne Callies who plays Dr. Sara Tancredi will not be returning to PRISON BREAK.

Callies, who just had her first child a few months ago, had been rumored to be leaving the show for a myriad of rumored reasons.  The full story hasn’t come out yet, but I’m sure it will.  Despite her reps insisting that she was returning, and the Fox reps saying that Sara Tancredi plays an important role this season, it was all a bit suspect when she wasn’t included in any of the Season 3 cast photos.  GMMR was told exclusively earlier this summer that “We haven’t revealed many plot details for the third season.  Dr. Sara Tancredi will be part of the storyline when the show returns though.”

So Michael Scofield is now without a lady love.  Anyone want to apply for the job?  Yeah, get in line.

Who wants to be the first to guess how Dr. Tequila Tancredi’s departure in handled on the show?

BIG BROTHER Recap: Holy Double Eviction

BIG BROTHER recap and spoilers

The craziest episode of this season’s BIG BROTHER happened tonight when the BB8 residents sent two of their fellow houseguests home in a live double eviction.Previously on Big Brother…
As you may recall, HOH Zach put Jameka and Jessica on the block.  Dani won the POV and opted not to use it. Dick and Dani broke their alliance with Eric and Jessica and targeted Jess for eviction.  But being game players that they are, they told Jameka that she was the one going home tonight.  The plan was to blindside Eric and throw him off his game for the HOH competition (something that could have achieved by just spinning him in circles, but whatevs). But for the plan to work, Dick and Daniele had to get Jameka to swear that she wouldn’t put them up on the block if she won a future HOH.

To the Jury House for you…
Did Jameka take their deal to save herself and send Jessica home.  Well, it certainly does seem that way.  In the first live eviction of the night, Jessica was sent to the jury house with a vote of 2-1.

The Big Brother Fast Forward…
The houseguests then experienced their first and only fast forward of the season.  Immediately after Jessica’s eviction, they played their HOH competition.  It was a game of ‘what came first in BB8’ trivia and Dick walked away the victor.  As the newly crowned HOH, Dick had just five minutes to choose the houseguests he wanted on the block.  In what came as no surprise, Jameka and Eric were nominated. Both pleaded their case.  Jameka saying she was a woman of her word (her word being that she wouldn’t nominated the Double D’s?) and Eric pleaded that it was a smarter move to keep him in the game as Jameka would surely take the win with the votes from the jury house.

THE FAMILY GUYS Does Star Wars

The Family Guy, Stars Wars, Blue Harvest

One of the best times I had at Comic-Con was spent in the panel for THE FAMILY GUY. Seth McFarlane and his team of writers took the stage to talk to a room full of Stewie fans and we all had a good laugh (and McFarlane had a good buzz, but that’s another story for another time).

The audience was treated to a sneak peek of the September 23rd season premiere of THE FAMILY GUY, a spoof of Star Wars entitled “Blue Harvest”. I laughed my ass off. The opening sequence will have you on the floor – I promise. It’s so smart and so frakkin’ funny.

After the Griffin’s lose power, Peter entertains the family with the greatest story ever told…the story of Star Wars! After Princess Leia (Lois) comes under siege by Darth Vader (Stewie) and his evil Storm Troopers, C-3PO (Quagmire) and R2-D2 (Cleveland) escape to find the only person who can help the Rebel Alliance. On their quest thorough the desert planet of Tatooine, C-3PO and R-2D2 find extra help in Obi-Wan Kenobi (Herbert), Luke Skywalker (Chris), Han Solo (Peter) and Chewbacca (Brian) and head back to battle the Death Star in an epic intergalactic fight to the death in the “Blue Harvest” episode of FAMILY GUY on Sunday, Sept. 23 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT.)

Fox just over this great new mini poster from the premiere. If you’d like to get the large version to print for yourself, click here.

New Pic! FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL (UPDATED)

Forgetting Sarah Marshall (Jason Segel and Kristen Bell)

Check out this adorable pic of Jason Segel of HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER and Kristen Bell of HEROES (sooo weird to type that) in a scene from their upcoming movie FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL.

In the movie, a devastated Peter (Segel) takes a Hawaii vacation in order to deal with recent break-up with his TV star girlfriend, Sarah (Bell). Little does he know Sarah’s traveling to the same resort as her ex … and she’s bringing along her new boyfriend.

This picture brought a smile to my face so I wanted to share it with you as it’s my mission to bring more joy to this world (and to show pics of cute ladies and gents from the world of television).

Update: ComingSoon.net has an adorable interview with Kristen and Jason.  Here’s an excerpt:

CS: What’s it like working with Kristen Bell?
Segel: Kristen Bell is the best. You know when I wrote that part, it was a very fine line because I didn’t want anyone to be a villain in the movie. She’s played it to perfection. She couldn’t be a more talented actress and a great person.

CS: What do you guys do in your downtime?
Segel: You know she talks, like a lot. She kinda just talks and talks. It’s nice at first because she says a lot of interesting…oh, she’s here now. She’s great. She’s funny.

CS: What do you have to say about Jason Segel as your leading man?
Bell: Who? Oh the writer? I haven’t met him yet, but I hear he’s awesome.
Segel: I stopped listening every time she talks.
Bell: Jason is the talker.
Segel: Everything I say, she’s like, “you told me that before.”
Bell: Because he tells stories over and over again.

CS: Like what? What’s a story he keeps telling?
Bell: Anything. This one time at band camp. Whatever. All the time.
Segel: Whatever. I love band camp.

CS: How would you describe the chemistry that you guys have?
Bell: Vicious.
Segel: I feel like I didn’t know I had a midget fetish. But, here we are.
Bell: Or I a giant.

THE OFFICE Season 3 DVD Winners

THE OFFICE Season 3 DVDThere’s no doubt that GMMR readers are big fans of THE OFFICE. Last week we ran a contest to giveaway two copies of THE OFFICE Season 3 on DVD. Entrants were asked to post what they thought to me the funniest moment of Season 3. So many great moments were shared, it was like reliving the best parts of this past season all over again. (Click here to read all the great comments).

And the winners are…
Congratulations to Tracy H. of Chicago and David C. of Connecticut who were our big winners. They each will receive a copy of Season 3 of THE OFFICE on DVD.

Although I’ll admit I didn’t go through and tally up all the votes, it was easy to tell what most of you thought was the funniest moment of Season 3. Ladies and gentlemen, I present the winning moment…

Now on to the good stuff. For those who have already snagged your OFFICE DVDs let’s dish on your favorite moments. What did you love most about the bloopers, deleted scenes, commentaries, bonus features, etc?!

Note: I’m going to leave the comments open for now to discuss THE OFFICE. Out of respect, please don’t leave comments relating to the unfortunate separation of Jenna Fischer and James Gunn. All comments will be removed. Thanks – it’s just something I’m not interested in discussing on GMMR.

I know things have been a little quieter than usual around GMMR lately. I’ve been keeping busy with my real job, and in my downtime I’ve been watching pilots, and working on my Fall preview. It bums me out that it’s taken me away from GMMR but I’m hoping it will all be worth it. But we’ve got a few more updates this morning, including some prize winners from some of the contests we’ve been running lately!!

So as for tonight…not a big night for TV, but there’s always something to watch!

nflNFL Football Kickoff
Are you ready for some football? The NFL season kicks off tonight with the Colts vs. the Saints on NBC. Listen, if football is going to kick THE OFFICE off the air for the week can’t it at least be the Patriots playing? It goes against the way I was raised to cheer for the Colts tonight (even though I do have a small secret crush on Peyton Manning…shhh, don’t tell Tom Brady – I don’t want him to get jealous.)

MeeVee RecommendsBig Brother
“Eviction Night”
If you are a fan of BIG BROTHER then make sure you don’t miss tonight. The houseguests don’t know, but there’s a double eviction tonight. But that’s not going to be the only surprise for some houseguests tonight.

“Debut”
Tim Gunn (“Project Runway”) and “fashion accomplice” Veronica Webb provide makeovers to style-challenged women in this eight-episode unscripted series. First up: Tomboyish Rebecca Pennino discovers a vibrant personal look.

MeeVee RecommendsMad Men
“The Hobo Code”
Don’s mysterious past comes back to haunt him; Peggy celebrates her new work success, but not all of her colleagues and co-workers are pleased or impressed; Salvatore’s relationship with a client is questioned. (By the way, I’ve managed to post this episode description without reading it. I have a few episodes to go before I’m caught up an I don’t want to be spoiled.)

THE VIEW Adds Sherri Shepherd as New Co-Host

THE VIEW Adds Sherri Shepherd as New Co-Host

Barbara Walters’ big plans for announcing the new permanent co-host of THE VIEW have been spoiled by the Associated Press.  According to AP sources close to the show, the lucky (or unlucky depending on how you see it) lady joining Babs, Joy, Elisabeth and Whoopi at the table is actress/comedienne Sherri Shepherd.  Shepherd, who has filled in as co-host many times on THE VIEW had reportedly had some salary dispute with Babs and the producers which delayed the announcement.

Who knows if this news leak will prompt Barbara to make the announcement a bit sooner than she hoped.

What do you think of Sherri Shepherd joining THE VIEW?  Do you think she will fit in with the rest of the gals? And do we think that Sherri or Whoopi will last the year?
